HOME SWEET HOME

You find yourself not on a wide station platform, in the clothes you last remember, holding what you were when you went through the glas door. There's no longer a train behind you, no sound of its whistle, with no other passengers around you in similar style of clothing to your own.

You're somewhere familiar, or just - the last place you remember being before your life became tethered to the Voidtrecker Express. A field, a city, a kingdom, or perhaps even a space station. You should be nowhere, yet you find yourself somewhere, despite all odds.

People - if there are people - don't at first notice you; but attract enough attention to yourself, and that will all change. Friends, family - are they near, a phonecall away? It's either everything you wanted or everything you imagined (for good or worse), and it could seem unbelievably real. But it is real - you're off the train, back somewhere you know.

Finally - the journey is over...

...If only.
You're moving away from where you arrived, for whatever reason. Who wouldn't? You may be far from home, have business elsewhere, or want to go sightseeing. It's time to return to - and live - your life, and that doesn't include sticking to one place.

But you'll find that when you reach a point, the world becomes...foggy. A fog that you hadn't seen in the distance before it appears, and when you walk through it, you'll find yourself in a place some have already found themselves in.

Because for some passengers, there was nowhere for them to return, and so the barriers lead only to fog, and then straight back onto the platform. The Voidtrecker Express may be stationed, or there may be a blanket of fog where it should be; sometimes, it can be caught trying to leave the station, only to come back a few minutes later. The doors are shut tight, and the windows are obscured, showing nothing inside.

Those who came from somewhere can go back, should they go through the turnstiles again. And if they want, they can take people along with them, too...

But sometimes, they go to a world no one knows. They go through the barriers into nothing, a black emptiness. Not space, for those that know space, and it doesn't seem to be the void either. But it is a void, devoid of anything at all. Just a darkness so complete they will not be able to see anything at all, they will only know their companion is there through touch and sound. How they are breathing, how they are living at all, is a mystery; one probably answered only by the SCA on their wrist.

Being there brings an unease deep down inside them. This place is not natural, not somewhere that they should exist in. Not a place that should exist at all. Luckily they are never there for more than a few moments before they return once more to the station, fog covering them like a safety blanket.

A DIFFERENT CORNER: LOCATIONS

In the first couple of days (whatever that means, when time doesn't match up between most places), the only way to move to another's tethered location is by them leading another there. But after that, individuals will show up in other locations when they reach close to the distance limit. Indeed as time goes on everything gets a lot less stable. They may know their five miles perfectly but still one step to another leads them back to the platform. Attempting to return to their world leads them somewhere else entirely.

And there's quite a few places to end up.

LOCATION TOPLEVELS: Since it'll be easier for players to engage with settings presented by those offering them, when we see a toplevel for one of the above locations put up, we'll add it to the list! We've also included the OOC comments for settings to the side, so any questions can be left with the player, as well as extra details. Please always speak with the player first if you intend to do anything drastic to the setting!

A REMINDER: Time of log is Poi 22-25, but time within worlds can last up to a maximum of two weeks. Minimum is whatever you want it to be.

During Poi 22 and 23, characters will need to be led to a location to be able to access it. From Poi 24, people will show up in locations regardless of invitation.

The second half of the event will go up during 20th to 25th February (Poi 26-28). But as always, play around in here and do as you like!

Ken looks... tired as he steps out from the turnstiles. He's feeling... a whole mess of things, some of which involve the train and some of which involve what he just got informed of.

He almost doesn't hear the question when Lea speaks up, and it takes a few moments for his brain to catch up

"Uh? I don't... know. Sorry. I..." His lip wobbles dangerously, as if he's on the verge of crying.

It didn't take Lea long to notice Ken's emotional state. He crouched down in front of him like he had not so long ago, hugging him for what he thought would be the last time. "It's OK," he said, reaching out with one hand to gently grip Ken's shoulder in a gesture of support. "Sorry to jump on you like that. It's just... yeah."

"You alright?", he asked gently. "Did you make it home?"

“No, it’s okay, I just…” He leans heavily into Lea’s hand, taking a few deep breaths. “I got home, but… I missed a lot.”

Stupid. He should have known time would keep going even without him! Ugh. “We ended up joining with SEES to take down a bigger threat, and Minato… he’s dead. Or basically, anyway. He and Minako gave up their lives to seal the thing away…”

Crap. What can he even say for something like that? "I'm sorry," he said. "But I'm glad you're OK, at least. It sounds like it was a really rough time." He wondered if everyone else who made it back to their worlds would face such unpleasant surprises?

"Xion and I couldn't get back to Diatu, where our bodies are. We just ended up in this... empty, black void- not the Void, but a void- and were stuck there for a minute or so before ending up back here. And given that you're back here now too... I'm guessing something went wrong when the train was trying to send us home."

"... Shit." He looks around at the people milling about and frowns. "And the train isn't here. ... I'm guessing our SCAs aren't doing anything, either?"

He taps the display on his and... "Nope, can't call anyone with it. Not that I can tell, at least."

"Yeah, I already tried and can't get anyone either," Lea said. "But good to know it's not just me and Xion. I'm pretty sure it's still doing all the passive stuff it does normally, but there's not really a way to check on that that I know of."

"In any case, we're fine for the moment, so at least there's that. Though I don't know about long term; none of us really came equipped for an extended stay on a void platform." Thinking about timeframes though brought to mind something about what Ken had said. "Though now that I think about it... about how long were you back home?"

"We could try taking it off, but that seems like a bad idea..." If they die, there's no train to show back up on. Not that he wants to go through that, anyway.

"How long? Uh..." Well, he hadn't slept since he found out what happened, so... "I think about two days? Why, how long has it been for you?"

"Yeah, I'm with you there," Lea said. "I even tried pressing the evacuation button but that doesn't seem to be working either at the moment." Maybe the train was too far away? Or maybe they really had been untethered from it.

He frowned thoughtfully at Ken's report. "A little over an hour, at most," he said. "And since we left at the same time, I guess we have proof that time works differently depending on the world you're in." And possibly other factors, but he didn't really know how to test those.

"I guess so. It's..." He wavers a little bit and leans towards Lea a little bit. "... Sorry. It's really confusing and I'm... really tired."

He just kind of wants to curl up and nap for a while, but there's things to do. "No way to get back... we don't really have resources to keep going while we're here, too. What to do..."

Lea shook his head. "Don't worry about it," he said. "Time travel stuff always gives me a headache too. And we can at least sit down for awhile; it's not super comfortable, but it doesn't look like we'll be going anywhere for the moment, so..." And if they sat down, Ken was quite welcome to lean on Lea.

"If push comes to shove, assuming you could get back to your world again, we could probably get food and water at least that way. But even that wouldn't be workable long term." Maybe a couple days, at most, before the lack of... other facilities started to become a problem.

"Maybe we could." He sits down and leans against Lea, closing his eyes. "It's not going to last a long while. I don't really have a lot of money, and even the food we have at the warehouse isn't going to last a long time with how many people we have to take care of here."

"Yeah that's definitely an issue," he said. "But it could buy us a bit of time, at least." He draped an arm gently around Ken as he rested against him, thinking a moment.

"I wonder... what if other people could go back with you though? If we could do that, I'm old enough that I could maybe help out with that." He had no doubt it would still be a temporary arrangement, but it was at least a little more sustainable than relying on Ken's friends.
