No Place Like Home: Outside
NO PLACE LIKE HOME: OUTSIDE
HOME SWEET HOME

You're somewhere familiar, or just - the last place you remember being before your life became tethered to the Voidtrecker Express. A field, a city, a kingdom, or perhaps even a space station. You should be nowhere, yet you find yourself somewhere, despite all odds.
People - if there are people - don't at first notice you; but attract enough attention to yourself, and that will all change. Friends, family - are they near, a phonecall away? It's either everything you wanted or everything you imagined (for good or worse), and it could seem unbelievably real. But it is real - you're off the train, back somewhere you know.
...If only.
You're moving away from where you arrived, for whatever reason. Who wouldn't? You may be far from home, have business elsewhere, or want to go sightseeing. It's time to return to - and live - your life, and that doesn't include sticking to one place.
But you'll find that when you reach a point, the world becomes...foggy. A fog that you hadn't seen in the distance before it appears, and when you walk through it, you'll find yourself in a place some have already found themselves in.
Because for some passengers, there was nowhere for them to return, and so the barriers lead only to fog, and then straight back onto the platform. The Voidtrecker Express may be stationed, or there may be a blanket of fog where it should be; sometimes, it can be caught trying to leave the station, only to come back a few minutes later. The doors are shut tight, and the windows are obscured, showing nothing inside.
Those who came from somewhere can go back, should they go through the turnstiles again. And if they want, they can take people along with them, too...
But sometimes, they go to a world no one knows. They go through the barriers into nothing, a black emptiness. Not space, for those that know space, and it doesn't seem to be the void either. But it is a void, devoid of anything at all. Just a darkness so complete they will not be able to see anything at all, they will only know their companion is there through touch and sound. How they are breathing, how they are living at all, is a mystery; one probably answered only by the SCA on their wrist.
Being there brings an unease deep down inside them. This place is not natural, not somewhere that they should exist in. Not a place that should exist at all. Luckily they are never there for more than a few moments before they return once more to the station, fog covering them like a safety blanket.

A DIFFERENT CORNER: LOCATIONS
In the first couple of days (whatever that means, when time doesn't match up between most places), the only way to move to another's tethered location is by them leading another there. But after that, individuals will show up in other locations when they reach close to the distance limit. Indeed as time goes on everything gets a lot less stable. They may know their five miles perfectly but still one step to another leads them back to the platform. Attempting to return to their world leads them somewhere else entirely.
And there's quite a few places to end up.

OOC NOTES
OOC post. Ask questions here.
LOCATION TOPLEVELS: Since it'll be easier for players to engage with settings presented by those offering them, when we see a toplevel for one of the above locations put up, we'll add it to the list! We've also included the OOC comments for settings to the side, so any questions can be left with the player, as well as extra details. Please always speak with the player first if you intend to do anything drastic to the setting!
A REMINDER: Time of log is Poi 22-25, but time within worlds can last up to a maximum of two weeks. Minimum is whatever you want it to be.
During Poi 22 and 23, characters will need to be led to a location to be able to access it. From Poi 24, people will show up in locations regardless of invitation.
The second half of the event will go up during 20th to 25th February (Poi 26-28). But as always, play around in here and do as you like!
If your character's setting isn't above, link us to it in the Questions post, along with your toplevel! We'll add it.

"They put us back here in copies while the originals are still out there somewhere." Unless his world is unique... which would suck so much. Ughh...
That question was a good distraction, pulling Idia out of getting too deep into his own thoughts. "Oh, um... a-are you hungry?" He really doesn't know what else to offer. Idia's also going to ignore that talk of his value. It's ok if others don't get it, they weren't supposed to... choice wasn't a luxury everyone got.
no subject
The truth is he's not especially hungry, but he still says, "I could eat." Because it seems like Idia's still... he doesn't know. He's existing in a place he's familiar with. Just existing in it, and not interacting all that much with it. "After we get these scrapes cleaned up though. These bodies might be copies but they do the job well enough."
Though the sentiment about choice is funny to him, considering his own background. It's not a topic that he pressures at the moment.
no subject
If it did... "I'm not sure if we're really the real thing or not." Idia's mostly talking to himself right now as they headed into the main school building, walking through the hallways as students headed towards classrooms, the halls busy at first but quickly clearing out as they wandered their way through. There was always those rushing around to get to class, those lingering and being late, and those trying to pick a fight with another student over something small and stupid. As normal. "My body's soul readings are strange, but it's not clear why it's strange. It's just... off."
Idia may had just kept shuffling along and mumbling to himself over data and readings he had seen, but he snapped out of it as he stepped past the infirmary, stopped with an, "Oh." And turned back towards it. "Here." Before opening the door into the room.

His face takes on an odd expression, still not fully able to absorb all the knowledge there.
He watches the kids as they pass, casting them an odd glance before following Idia into the infirmary and immediately seeking out some first aid materials. He doesn't really worry about magically patching him up. His brain is on what's familiar to him. "You got any way of checkin' up on your people? Even if they don't remember, best to know." He says 'your people' because he knows what it's like to not have friends, and just have people that you work with. He fully believes Idia could make friends, he just doesn't seem particularly interested in it.
But surely he had people, right?

But without Ortho... it was all hollow.
Seeing his brother now though... Idia knows he can't be here. Ortho was doing what he's supposed to be doing, staying by 'his' side. If Idia returned and upset that all... he wouldn't take Ortho away, not from himself, even if it meant he couldn't have him. "I don't care about the rest here."
During this Idia is slipping off that team hoodie, trying to angle his arm and head in a way to see how bad his elbows were. It was a rough landing, he's going to be patched up for awhile for it to heal, but nothing to be seriously worried over.

Another wayward brother. Another relationship strained by distance. Wangji and Tobirama both left their impressions with their stories. It did feel like the closest he'd experienced to that was Soldat.
"As long as y'all are both alright. You gonna send him a message so he knows the circumstances?" He couldn't blame him if he knew, though, that he liked the train better. Even on a place like the train, there was a chance to be remembered. He'll have to remember to write Idia's story down in that random ass book of his, even if it's not particularly poetic. It's more like important footnotes about the people he meets.

There's a long pause to Yondu's question, it hard to tell if it's because Idia didn't want to answer it, or if he wasn't sure on the answer yet. "...if I do let him know, he'll come here. He needs to stay there." Another even longer pause before Idia admitting. "I... I think I'm going to make him a game. He likes adventure stories, having to work things out. I-I can hide information for him to find about what happened and load it onto a server only we use just before I leave here for the last time..." Idia would like to say goodbye in person... but he doesn't think he will be able to leave if he did that, his shaking fingers clenching against the fabric of his pants leg at that thought, head down and jaw tight as he blinked away tears.
Why did they have to get separated like this? Why couldn't they had come to the train together? Ortho would love it there, getting to see so many different places all the time.
no subject
"Subtle, discrete. I like it. Somethin' like that could keep the lot of us safe if we need to hide somethin' from the Ministry. Or the train. You and Kaiba really do got good minds for games."
Once he's done he straightens up. "They fucked this up, but once we get more information and better resources, you'll be able to fix this shit. I think you're smart enough to." And then maybe they could just go, and not worry about this place.
mini chapter 6 spoilers mentions
"How long have you been on the train? Shouldn't there be more known by now?" Idia would ask why send them home but keep so much from them... but that's kind of rich coming from him and how much he had hidden about himself. Then again, he wasn't holding people against their will. Or... at least only those who were a threat. And even then it's not 'him' exactly, more his family. However, Idia also hadn't really listened to much going on in the train, it didn't matter to him before. Now... he may have to start looking into it as well.

Yondu doesn't draw further attention to it. Doesn't shame it, either. Being able to cry is a rare treat that people like him can't do- punished too often for it when he was little. He doesn't want to spoil it for the kid who obviously needs to get it out.
"Six months. But we was pretty well stifled. I didn't do most of the SCA investigations, Senku did. Though even I shoulda caught on to the red flags- I offered myself up for testin' a dozen times, but they didn't ask anyone about the success of a return home. Just lobbed us off the train.
"Could be a genuine fuck-up, but seems like a poor choice for scientists to make, don't it?" The more suspicious part of him makes him think the train might be setting them up to distrust the Ministry. Taking a calculated risk to make it look like they failed. "But if you wanna work all that out, I'm bettin' Senku'd be one of the better guys to work with since he got such an investment."

But Idia didn't have enough information to really make a call on this all, though he flicks up a finger towards his computer as he starts rolling down his pant legs again, one of its blue hologram screens popping up full of information, Idia's eyes glued to it as he sorted his clothing out. "If I could get direct access to STYX I may be about to find out more..." Then finally breaking out of his thoughts and back to the here and now with a sigh, and a slump of his shoulders. "But it's too far away, it would just take me back. I guess. I only tried in one direction." Though it didn't make sense to only block off one way.
"If I could bring stuff back I would gutt Ignijyde for its tech to try and get an answer..." It's not at the level of STYX, but it would would help. "Even better if I could get STYX computers and testing tools." Sorry Yondu, Idia's getting lost in his own head trying to figure this all out right now. "I could try and work out what is happening to our souls."
no subject
He idly rants even though he knows it doesn't suit the situation. He pats Idia on the leg. "Alright, we don't know if these'll stay, so lets give it a little bit before you go. Make sure everythin's all sealed up and you don't get void cooties or whatever. Let's go figure out what you can do, even if you're kinda limited. Besides, you still got some messages you gotta send."
Though Yondu looks genuinely like he intends to come with him, make sure he at least gets somewhere alright and doesn't have to make the trek in this miserable invisible state, surrounded by classmates that wouldn't remember anyway.
no subject
It however was quickly shoved aside as it sunk in what Yondu meant, though it doesn't stop the little jolt that went through him at that pat. Nothing personal, Yondu, it's just Idia being Idia. "...d-do you think any healers will be beyond the fog?" Hopefully... "I guess I can stay here a couple of days at least, get stuff done. Or I could see if I could put something together in the alchemy room..." A potion or salve or something.
Either way it's better to leave here and not linger too much. There were much better places to hide out. Idia pushed himself back to his feet, rolling his sleeves back down of his hoodie and heading to the door. Then stopping. "Um..." He has no clue how to be a good host. Or a host in general. "So... what do you want to do?"
no subject
But there's not much he knows to do, or to see. He just tends to look wherever he goes, and unless it's business rarely has some sort of plan in mind. He lives for that moment.
"You don't gotta show me nothin'. I can see myself out. You should tend to those messages for your brother, though."
no subject
Though one more thing to check before he lets Yondu head off, "Can you make your way back?" Did he have to come with him? Not that he doubts Yondu's abilities to find his way back, but... this was a magical school, who knew what could happen.
no subject
"You stay outa trouble for a bit. At least people bein' sketch on us existin' has the benefit of makin' that easier."
