No Place Like Home: Outside
NO PLACE LIKE HOME: OUTSIDE
HOME SWEET HOME

You're somewhere familiar, or just - the last place you remember being before your life became tethered to the Voidtrecker Express. A field, a city, a kingdom, or perhaps even a space station. You should be nowhere, yet you find yourself somewhere, despite all odds.
People - if there are people - don't at first notice you; but attract enough attention to yourself, and that will all change. Friends, family - are they near, a phonecall away? It's either everything you wanted or everything you imagined (for good or worse), and it could seem unbelievably real. But it is real - you're off the train, back somewhere you know.
...If only.
You're moving away from where you arrived, for whatever reason. Who wouldn't? You may be far from home, have business elsewhere, or want to go sightseeing. It's time to return to - and live - your life, and that doesn't include sticking to one place.
But you'll find that when you reach a point, the world becomes...foggy. A fog that you hadn't seen in the distance before it appears, and when you walk through it, you'll find yourself in a place some have already found themselves in.
Because for some passengers, there was nowhere for them to return, and so the barriers lead only to fog, and then straight back onto the platform. The Voidtrecker Express may be stationed, or there may be a blanket of fog where it should be; sometimes, it can be caught trying to leave the station, only to come back a few minutes later. The doors are shut tight, and the windows are obscured, showing nothing inside.
Those who came from somewhere can go back, should they go through the turnstiles again. And if they want, they can take people along with them, too...
But sometimes, they go to a world no one knows. They go through the barriers into nothing, a black emptiness. Not space, for those that know space, and it doesn't seem to be the void either. But it is a void, devoid of anything at all. Just a darkness so complete they will not be able to see anything at all, they will only know their companion is there through touch and sound. How they are breathing, how they are living at all, is a mystery; one probably answered only by the SCA on their wrist.
Being there brings an unease deep down inside them. This place is not natural, not somewhere that they should exist in. Not a place that should exist at all. Luckily they are never there for more than a few moments before they return once more to the station, fog covering them like a safety blanket.

A DIFFERENT CORNER: LOCATIONS
In the first couple of days (whatever that means, when time doesn't match up between most places), the only way to move to another's tethered location is by them leading another there. But after that, individuals will show up in other locations when they reach close to the distance limit. Indeed as time goes on everything gets a lot less stable. They may know their five miles perfectly but still one step to another leads them back to the platform. Attempting to return to their world leads them somewhere else entirely.
And there's quite a few places to end up.

OOC NOTES
OOC post. Ask questions here.
LOCATION TOPLEVELS: Since it'll be easier for players to engage with settings presented by those offering them, when we see a toplevel for one of the above locations put up, we'll add it to the list! We've also included the OOC comments for settings to the side, so any questions can be left with the player, as well as extra details. Please always speak with the player first if you intend to do anything drastic to the setting!
A REMINDER: Time of log is Poi 22-25, but time within worlds can last up to a maximum of two weeks. Minimum is whatever you want it to be.
During Poi 22 and 23, characters will need to be led to a location to be able to access it. From Poi 24, people will show up in locations regardless of invitation.
The second half of the event will go up during 20th to 25th February (Poi 26-28). But as always, play around in here and do as you like!
If your character's setting isn't above, link us to it in the Questions post, along with your toplevel! We'll add it.

...no, no it wasn't easy. It was horrible... but... he can do this!
He thinks...
Building himself up mentally so he could actually do this, Idia shuffled his way towards the front stand so to get them a place to sit, only to see... oh... "Floyd..." Nooooo. Leaning heavily on the entrance stand, looking like he would rather be anywhere but here, Floyd Leech didn't seem to look like he noticed, well, anyone mingling around the entrance way, many of those who wanted to enter the Lounge seeming equally reluctant as Idia to approach him.
After a bit of shuffling back and forward, Idia force himself forward, "Um, I, ah... I want, ah, a seat for, um, two... please."
At first the other teen looks bored, then his expression seeming to wake up as he finally 'sees' Idia in front of him, a moment of pause, then a wide smile appearing on his face. Wow, would you look at that, a super shiny person. "Ehhhh~? For two? Hmmmm, yeaahh, I guess we can do that. Booth or bar?"
[floyd voice] whys everyone freaking out abt idia ordering drinks today lol
Ah.
"...I see..." She keeps her voice low- best not to risk drawing attention to herself even if Idia did say for two- and closes her eyes. "...I understand..."
Perhaps tragically, Floyd's entire being seems to shout 'carefree'. Probably fine in any situation where they don't need to be careful. Oh well.
"We should be fine with whichever you're most comfortable with, but booth will probably keep us most hidden all the same," Kiyoiri continues softly, eyes on Floyd. Quietly, she wonders if the teen doesn't actually realize it's Idia- in theory, Idia should have an actual body sitting in an infirmary or similar. ...Or maybe he just assumes he's woken up? Or didn't even know he was in there?
Hm.
haaa, I mean, most likely first time he ever showed up there.
Whatever, lets count it as a blessing while it lasted. The longer she goes unnoticed the better. Then again, some of the boys at the school at times for mistaken for girls. Normally those out of Pomefoire. Hopefully if she did get noticed it would be assumed she, well... wasn't a girl. "Ah... booth." Idia finally gets out, hands nervously playing with the edge of his sleeve.
There's a very long pause from Floyd, almost eyeing him up. Before it snapped away in an instant, "Ok!" He grabbing up two menus and stepping away from the stand. "This way~!" Heading off without checking either of them were following him, heading deeper into the Lounge towards a suitable seat.
dark chuckling laughter.... but also deadass her fav animal is sea turtle so the lounge is heaven ha
As it stands if she's noticed she has a perfectly fine back up ready, called, 'visiting family at the campus'. It's not like she's old enough to be here anyway.
So onward they go, Kiyoiri taking in the scenery with a rather small, but very much relaxed smile. "This place...it's actually underwater, isn't it?" she asks, allowing herself to voice something as a question just for this. "...It's nice. ...I like the ocean. I'm glad you suggested this as somewhere we could see here."
awww. Trying to decide if them talking will get Floyds attention... hmmmm
Getting to their seats, Floyd dropped a menu one side, then the other of the table, waiting for them both to take a seat before half leaning, half draping himself over the back of the seat Idia took, causing him to jump as Floyd silently watched him shake nervously in his seat. After a long pause... he spoke, "Okaayy, so, specials today are~..." Listing them off in a tone that was half bored memorization, that he knew what it all was but told he hated the fact he had to remember it all. And half curiosity, now and then reaching out to try and poke at Idia's hair, only to have Idia jump and try and scoot further across the booth seat to get away from him each time.
Idia didn't need the menu, he knew exactly what he wanted, though still nervously fiddling with the menu itself as he stuttered to get his order out, Floyd's occasional poking not helping at all! "T-t-t-t-the Mostro Lounge Special Set." Stop it Floyd!
I'm definitely down lol
God, she can barely hear what's on the menu-
Hopefully that special set is- "...I am running out of booth..."

Through this there is a moment in which Floyd's gaze does turn to Kiyoiri too, taking notice of her also being there now, and almost seeming to need a moment to register that there was in fact two people... But he doesn't seem to question why he only just noticed her, but certainly eyes her in a way that tells he's got himself a second target... after the first that is.
"I didn't expect Savanaclaw would have people like you in it."
"Eh?" Is all Idia can get out to that, confused by it all, until Floyd takes a moment to pinch the shoulder of Idia's team orange hoodie. "A-ah, well, ah... I guess... the mirror puts you where it thinks best?" It wasn't answered in the most convincing tone.
"Hmmm, mayyybeeee~. I would had thought I would had noticed you already," And then to her, even more direct with Kiyoiri than Idia. "And why a little fry like you here?"
no subject
"I'm visiting the campus on behalf of relatives," she calmly replies, bowing her head. "...I can't come here under normal circumstances, as it's a boy's school, so I was happy for the chance. I heard good things about this lounge," she adds, beaming.
Perhaps the oddest thing about her smile is that it's a genuine one- she doesn't normally smile that broadly, but she really does like it here! "I love the ocean...so it's nice for the chance."
no subject
Until his concentration is broken by another voice passing them by, one much calmer and more collected than his, but from a face that was near identical to Floyd's, and in a much neater form of their uniform. "Floyd, there is an increasing line at the door, would you please leave our customers to their own company and deal with it?" A well practiced smile being added to that as Jade stays in motion, carrying the tray he is taking to another table, the delay just long enough to spur his brother on to move.
"Fiineee, okaaayy~. Firefly squid and rainbow tetra here still need to order though." Floyd answers with a wave of his hand back to the two of them, before pushing his weight off the back of the seat and back onto his feet. "Enjoy your stay~." It's polite, but also has enough humor behind it to say he's amused by all of this as he strolls his way back to the front of the Lounge, seeming in no rush to get back to his station.
Once Floyd's gone Idia lets out a long sigh of relief, his shoulders slumping as his nerves over this all start to leave him. "Ughhh... this was a mistake..."
no subject
That aside, once Floyd is gone, she looks to Idia. "...For someone you know much about, he didn't seem to know you at all. Do you look that different here?" A pause, before she adds-
"...No one is looking in our direction; you can relax a little, at least."
mini chapter 6 spoilers mentions, but we've talked about them before
That question though... well... he guesses it doesn't matter now. He's not staying. And no one on the train has connections to the school. "Everyone's memories were purged about me. I'm guessing my situation with my body is bad enough my family decided I wouldn't be coming back here and they implement that procedure." It's fine. It would had happened one day anyways. It's just... weird to see it in action.
pour one out....
Kiyoiri stares out from the table, only turning when Idia speaks again. The more he does however, the more her eyes widen. All she can think of after the first thing he says, is of the Lostbelt she had only so recently visited and shattered. Of a world reset, with people vanishing from memory at each point.
"...They would rob them of that, when they were already robbed of you?" she quietly asks, expression questioning and even after moments of time, still shocked. "...What good would that do them, then?"
haaa
Other than online gaming that is. He would still have Muscle Kurenai for online gaming, and he was happy with that. He may had never met the other gamer, but that was more than enough for Idia between him and Ortho. Pffft, who needed irl friends, that's such an ancient way of thinking.

"...It's about memory, of any kind. We are shaped by what we remember. By what we experience, even slightly. And more than that, you had expectations when we came here," she remarks with a look back to the other, a slow blink as much emotion as she seems to put into it. "...In other words, control over the memories of other people...that still affects you, directly."
The girl leans back in her seat and looks away again, eyes distant. "There are very few things we can truly control in life. Even fewer ways to control what we perceive at all. The chance to remember even the worst of things is what lets us have the chance to enjoy other things as well, but the chance to remember, period, is something that alters the very view of reality. Even if you think you left no mark here, you yourself felt there had been enough to know these people in some way.
"Friendship, passing face...no matter what, I can't understand someone who would look at anything and say 'better it be as if this never existed at all'."
Her tone is dark with those words. Something personal was struck, perhaps enough to cloud them. Still, she sighs, adjusting the pack she carries with her for the sake of something to do. "...You speak of it as if it's an inevitability." Perhaps Idia doesn't think he does- all he's done is put on a front, and accurately guess what happened, but still. "...What about your unconsciousness would warrant something this extreme to begin with? ...No...perhaps the bigger question, is why the inevitability of being 'erased' ever existed at all."
no subject
Fine. "Of course it's inevitable, it's a requirement of my family's responsibilities." They were the best ones for the situation, the best to watch over STYX and all that came with it. They always had been. There was never a choice for Idia with this, he was 'fated' to be stuck with the role. It wasn't that he wanted this... he had just... come to accept it. There was no changing it, it would happen, so why fight it?
no subject
Hmm, is all she's saying to that. Has Idia ever been 'hmmed' at by a young teenager? Now he is. It's probably the worst.
"...Will they erase yours as well once you return?" she eventually asks as they wait for their drinks, fingers still tapping at her pouch.
no subject
Playing with the edge of his sleeve as he thought about if to answer this at all... Idia sighed again as he slumped further in his seat. "No, but it doesn't matter. My body is here." He's seen it. Well, not 'here' here, and not 'seen' it, but he's gotten into the computers of STYX to find out what was going on and had seen the reports on him. The real him. Not... whatever the train had made. "But if the me here wakes with my memories, no. I get to keep them all." For better or worst, both if they keep their memories of the time on the train and... everything else.
Anything he may had wanted to add to that was cut off as Jade seems to pop out of nowhere, getting a squeal of shock from Idia, who hadn't spotted him, "Ehhe!" His hands coming up to his chest in fists.
"Oh my, excuse me for interrupting, I didn't mean to cause such a fright." A very well practiced smile displayed on Jade's face. "Are you ready to order?"
no subject
It's again the words of someone who knows what that feels like. A strange and distant quiet, the words too soft to be heard by anyone outside the booth even if they were clearly perceived.
It's not long after that, that Jade appears.
"Ah..." Well. She passes on her order to Idia. Best not to stress him out more by clearly stating it to the second twin.
no subject
Then again, with what was going on now... would they get back to the train, or just be stuck as ghosts wandering between worlds? He's not sure what is worse.
However Idia doesn't answer that, keeping this thoughts to himself as he points out on the menu the two orders, Jade confirming their choices and a promise to be along shortly with their food before vanishing off into the rest of the Lounge.
It however leaves Idia really not sure what to say now... he really had no skill points in socializing, and the talk of memories and what was happening here... he really didn't want to go into it. It was no one's business but his own. Hmm, ahh... hmm... Um... "So... you like... the ocean?" Ugh, that was horrible. Let him just sink into the ground already and vanish.
no subject
Was everything here truly nothing worth remembering?
Idia doesn't say anything about his thoughts however, and so Kiyoiri can hardly say anything in reply to them. Obviously there's some sort of inner conflict at hand- she's studied enough people during a crime and its aftermath to recognize that.
But unlike her 'cousin', she's hardly one to pry about it. Instead she smiles and appreciates the awkward effort being put forward into small talk.
"...If you don't like talking...it's fine not to. ...I'm used to quiet. Even though it's been a few years...people, and feelings...can still be a bit much."
But the ocean...hmmm. "...I was born..." A pause- she feels like she should give a bit more honesty than that, given what Idia has been somewhat forced to reveal. "...where I was made," she corrects, looking out at the lounge, "...it was an island. The ocean was a way to keep the inhabitants inside...but, it was also what allowed me to leave."
no subject
Though as she moved on and actually answered his poor attempt at carrying on casual conversation, Idia's brow raised at the answer. 'Made'? "Are you organic or inorganic?" It may not be the most sensitive or tactful way to go about this, but Idia really didn't have that when he wanted a question answered. If she was robotic that would be amazing...
no subject
"...But, if you look at my age on the roster, it will not match my physical one. ...I am a genetic clone; technically," she adds with a small wink, "...I am only 'five'."
