Voidtreckers will need a user name and each new thread will need a subject title!

X93... are there more systems which start with the letter X? Could those be the X Systems people are referring to?

I have not gone searching for such systems, but it should be...well, not a simple matter, given the lack of consolidation involved here, but a mere application of time and effort.

I doubt this place would let us take these materials to continue our investigation after we leave. There's no space for it all either.

Perhaps not the physical ones, but I have already received permission to download copies of the digital materials onto my personal laptop.

Then it would be a matter of finding all the system numbers and seeing which ones start with X.

[ It does seem like a lot of work, but at the same time, Sebek doesn't realize how quickly things can be digitally searched and compiled. ]

I can write a program for that simply enough. The main problem lies in the fact that they don't seem to have bothered to aggregate anything, so pulling up specifics on those systems will be more complicated.

That's just irresponsible of them! What is the point of using all these numbers if they don't easily mean anything?

Oh, the numbers most assuredly do mean something. That something, however, may be in an entirely different folder, or even an entirely different computer, from the list of numbers itself.

Think of it as something like a library, where no one thought to shelve books on similar topics near to one another, despite many of those books making reference to one another.

Then it is irresponsible of them to not teach the method of understanding this or having it be accessible! Their attempt at organization is in name only.

[ Sebek likes orderly libraries. He spends a great deal of time reading and studying. ]

If you are able to create something, then perhaps you should show them how it's done!

Organization has never been my strong suit, either. Writing a decent search program, however...if we expected to be here longer, I might just do that and leave a copy with them.

As it is, however, I fear my time may be better spent choosing what articles to save copies of.

How do you find anything? How does anyone working with you find anything?

[ Vexen makes a valid point about the articles, but Sebek is stuck on that part. ]

I know my own thought processes with regards to where I leave things, and the people I usually work with know me exceptionally well. I don't make a habit of leaving materials I intend for strangers to reference in such a state.

That feels merely a step up from what we're dealing with here. You should remedy that once you are back home and able to.
