Deep Dweller: Conclusion

Victory

Deep in the desert, with the combined might and light of those working for Red and Orange teams a monster shatters. Not just any monster but the large, silver giant, shards melting away as they hit the sand.

A blast of energy, ripples from it, passing through Voidtreckers harmlessly but shattering any monsters that managed to survive the final battle.

In the laboratory it is the same story, monsters shattering and crumbling both inside the facility and outside. In the tunnels too, monsters crumble before Terran, Gry and Voidtrecker's alike.

Deep down in the cavern the combined might of those working with Purple and Blue, the Terran and the Gry has already cleared the cavern, with not one monster getting through to lay a claw on the Dweller.

There is a pause, another and yet another. No more monsters pour through the walls. Any monsters that somehow survived the blasting of light from those fighting at both entrances crumble now. Everyone in the cavern will feel a deep sated peace fill them. The terror and fear those in the Gry caverns had been feeling fades into deep satisfaction.

There are no words, but there is definitely a sense of gratitude, a thank you of emotions. The Gry are more vocal in their thanks, antennae waving and reaching out to stroke at Voidtrecker and Terran hands alike. Soon the older Gry gather the younglings and they circle the Burrower, the Terran take their leave respectfully, ushering any Voidtreckers out, leaving the Gry to their god.

It's a long climb up, for any who don't simply use their SCA to return to the train.

Meanwhile...

Those in the Terran tunnels, helping to clear up and rebuild after the chaos of the week may hear something interesting on the news that is spoken about.

A number of Terran had been found in various places around the world, in the desert, unconscious and injured. Assumed to be victims of all that had happened they had been taken to various hospitals. Yet the first couple had woken up, claiming to be scientists from the surviving lab.

How they had gotten to the desert is unhelpfully sumerised as activated alien technology to escape their besieged facility but there is much rejoicing and relief from Terran, a renewed hope that those missing may be alive, somewhere in the world. Even if the question of how they got there is on everyone's lips.

Both the Terran and the Gry who remained in their caverns are in high spirits, thankful to those that helped.

Return of the Voidtrecker.

All teams return to the Voidtrecker Express. The holographic message comes with helpful pick up point dots on their maps.

The Voidtrecker swoops through the air, landing gracefully on a set of railway tracks and approaching an area just outside the research facility, close enough to both there and the battleground where red and orange had fought for both teams to board.

Once everyone is onboard it speeds towards the tunnels. It picks up first those in the Gry caverns, followed by those in the Terran city and finally stopping to collect anyone climbing from the tunnels leading to the Dwellers domain.

Once all Voidtreckers are accounted for it leaves the tunnels and flies off into the sky and back into the void.

"Hey! You guys ever see that Burrower?"

A glowing Glor is a glowing Glor, right? Tidus isn't going to question how he glows, but be glad to see the guy when he does, currently taking a short rest in the dining car with a hot drink and something to eat.

Glorfindel nodded and smiled at him. "We sure did. It was very...well, it looked like a giant grub, to be honest. But its presence was definitely something you could not miss," he said.

He got a cup of water from the spigot, by the time he stepped back to where Tidus was sitting, it was steaming. He dunked his teabag into it. "How did things go on your mission after you left us?"

...does that tap always do that, Tidus will need to check later.

"'Bout the same." For now, he'll focus on the question, his expression souring some. "I guess it went great considering the big guy we found destroyed all the other fiends bugging us, but." He sighs, shaking his head. "I dunno. I don't really know what happened..."

What a strange way for a mission to end, honestly.

"I heard the monsters were from Outer Space?" Glorfindel asked. How that differed from what they were, he was not as clear on. "I am very glad that destroying the big one took out the little ones too." He shook his head. "Trying to mop up the random Orcs now that the Big Bad on my world is gone has been quite annoying."
blitzcheer: (ummmooo)

[personal profile] blitzcheer 2020-07-29 09:47 am (UTC)(link)
"The big one was just another one of them, but yeah, there was something about a message sent out and they found out about this place? Roland knows more, if you know him."

He was the one who told Tidus some about it, but he was in Purple, so there was a chance he and Glor met on the mission.

"Sounds like your world needed a big bad that cleaned up the rest of the little guys."

Glorfindel smiled. "Roland is good people. I believe he is going to be one of our new Team Leaders with Luke being in Gold right now. You should have seen him during the mission."

"Yes, definitely," he agreed with a laugh. "Sauron was not as considerate, however! But then, he never was." Glorfindel shook his head. The former Maiar wouldn't have followed Melkor if he were the type to think of others, honestly.

"Decided that quickly, huh? Sounds like he made a good impression."

Not that Tidus would disagree with the choice--it sounded like a good job for a guy into the fussy details, keep him good and busy.

"Are you from the same world with all the other people with pointy ears?" He lifts a hand by the side of his head in gesture, thankfully not attempting to mimic an elven ear with a forefinger. "I heard one world has a problem with dragons? And humans deal with them? That sound familiar?"

Or even right? The conversation was a while back now, and he could be misremembering.

Glorfindel smiled and shook his head. "I have my eye on a couple of people actually, but yes, the way he really stepped up and helped coordinate everyone's efforts was immensely helpful."

"I nominated you for the Council, you know."

"Not all of us pointy ears come from the same world," he said with a laugh. "But several of us, yes. Fingon, Curufin, Nerdanel, Feanor, and myself."

He nodded. "Yes, there was a dragon named Smaug who had taken over a dwarven stronghold and was terrorizing the nearby towns and inhabitants. With the help of a daring Hobbit who found the dragon's weak spot, a Human archer managed to bring it down." There were others, of course, evil to a one, that had been brought down with other methods.

"Why do you ask?"

There's a pause at the mention of the nomination, a sheepish glance away that's there and then not as the conversation goes on.

"Nerdanel, she told me about it! Or, sorta. I asked about dragons 'cause some worlds have them and others don't. Spira doesn't, I think--but I don't know what they look like for real. Just a description about wings and being big."

Great description of dragons there. Tidus shrugs. "I was wondering if you two were from the same place."

"Nerdanel and I are, most definitely from the same place, yes," Glorfindel said with a smile.

"I could share a mental image with you, if you like, to show you what they look like," as Elves can share visions with others, he should be able to do that.
blitzcheer: (oh it's a dweeb)

[personal profile] blitzcheer 2020-08-30 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
"You can?" A mental image, really? Tidus seems to consider it, not entirely sure--what's it like to have a mental image suddenly in your head?--but...

"Okay." Curiosity way beats out however weird it'll be.
