Event: Healing Waters

"Good morning passengers, it is day twenty three of the month of Grasshopper. All passengers of the Voidtrecker Express require rest. Next stop Jema’grethy Island. All passengers prepare to disembark."

It is a very strange morning message that rings through the train on the morning of day twenty three but as the passengers of the Voidtrecker Express wake their screens glow with the colour of the void and a holographic screen pops up for them to read.

World #2554098133741: A world once inhabited by an ancient civilisation and now preserved as a historical site, nature reserve and well-being retreat. It is famous for its relaxing hot springs, calming atmosphere and beautiful beaches.

It is a popular void-traveller destination, particularly among void missionaries as a place to rest and recuperate after difficult missions.

The Voidtrecker Express will spend three days here, arriving today and leaving on day twenty six of the month of Grasshopper. The dressing carriage is open for your convenience.

It is time for a holiday it seems!

Preparation

For those who go to explore the dressing carriage they will find a variety of beachwear and wetsuits. One cupboard has a pile of tents and groundsheets in all four team colours.

One cabinet is exclusively filled with beach towels, in a kaleidoscope of colours, designs and patterns. Another is filled with different shapes and sizes of plain towel dressing gowns. There is even a cabinet with buckets, spades and small rock-pooling nets.

It seems they are in for quite an adventure.

Arrival

"Shortly arriving on World #2554098133741. Exit from void in ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one."

The train lurches and rattles as it leaves the void they will get a glimpse of silver-purple sky and a beautiful ocean below.

However some passengers might be a little more than distracted, one staring at that table for a second too long, another seeming lost in thought for a couple of seconds, a longer than normal pause in a sentence. They see a vision, a glimpse of a life that is not their own. Not all at once, but here and there as the train descends to the island.

But then it is gone and things are back to normal. Just in time, as they come to land.

Jema’grethy Island

The train has landed on a grassy ridge, overlooking a beautiful beach of white sand and the ocean beyond. It is warm, but not too hot, a cool ocean breeze cutting through the heat making it pleasant. Behind them is a grassy plain, changing to forest in the distance. There is the sound of birdsong in the purple sky. To the west the land is more craggy, the silhouette of a fortress in the distance. In a word, it is idylic. A sense of peace permeates the island.

A little more worrying is the volcano-like structure in the north. But even a quick glance will show it is not a typical volcano. There is no smoke and the liquid slowly running down it in rivulets is pink and blue.

Exploring the passengers will find beautiful beaches, ragged cliffs to walk and caves to explore. Where it is more craggy the beaches are made of pebbles- perfect for rock pooling.

The place has no people, but it is clearly maintained. The eastern beaches have racks of shallow boats, both canoes and one- or two-person sailing dinghies. There is also a small building in which scuba gear is stored, along with several waterproofed manuals and instructional literature.

Ruins of ancient houses are scattered across the island, but the main settlement is built into a rocky section in the north-west that has been secured with ropes and stairways cut into the cliffs, perfect for scrambles and hikes.

There are no living quarters, but there are sheltered sections with basic toilet facilities marked as camping grounds in five different sections of the island - by the hot springs, within the ruined fortress, beside the harbour, on the eastern beaches, and on the northern face of the mountain.

Hot Springs

To the west are the hot springs. They have both outdoor and indoor areas; the indoor areas being wooden loghouse saunas, changing rooms and storage sheds, whilst the outdoor areas are a tiered series of pools spilling down the side of the mountain and shaded by brightly flowering trees. The waters are hot, mineral-rich and soothing.

Perfect for overly stressed, world weary Void heroes...

Prep: The dressing carriage was crowded, but Ichigo didn't mind much. He was excited to get to spend time at a beach, he couldn't remember the last time he'd had a chance to relax like that. He'd already grabbed some plain black swim trunks and was wearing only those and a pair of flip flops. His kitten was held in one hand as he searched the racks of shirts to find one that would look good on him with his hair. He was looking forward to fishing and relaxing, maybe he would even be able to catch an octopus he could preserve to make takoyaki!

Arrival: As the train lurched to a stop, Ichigo blanked out for a moment, He still had his cat in one hand, and now some fishing gear in the other. But for a moment he didn't see the train. He saw things that had him wondering if there were hallucinogens in the air. In a blink it was over, and he was watching the door open to a world with a lovely violet sky.

Beach: You can find Ichigo set up by one of the rock pools fishing, keeping an eye on his still unnamed kitten. He was hoping to get a lot of good things, so he had two buckets of saltwater next to him to preserve any catches.

"Catch anything interesting yet?" Wei Wuxian called from the shore. He had on a Yukata and a pair of sandals and was using a beautiful fan to help the breeze along.

"Not just yet, but I've barely started." Looking up, Ichigo smiled at Wei WuXian. "Hey, that looks pretty sharp. Did you get it from Spider-san?"

"I did! Isn't it nice? I got one for Lan Zhan, too. His has bunnies." Because Lan Zhan looked adorable in it and it had made his husband happy.

"You could go get one too. They're free!"

The smile on Wei WuXian's face made Ichigo smile as well. "I was looking at them, but I didn't want to ruin one with sand so I held off. I might get one before nightfall, though."

Wei Wuxian shrugged. "I think they wash. And you can always take it off." He'd done so several times today, for various reasons.

"Maybe see if she has one with kitties?"

Shrugging, Ichigo smiled up at Wei WuXian. "I think I did see one with cats on it, I might go back and see if it's still there later. It'll be a good defense against any cold air if it get chilly tonight." He looked in one of his buckets and then gestured to it. "Got some fish here if you're hungry. They haven't been gutted yet, though."

"I might be familiar with fish," he admitted. "Got a knife, though? It didn't occur to me to bring one."

He did go and get some leaves from a local plant to place the fish on once they were cleaned.

"Hey, that lil guy your secret weapon there?"

Tidus has wandered over, interested in the fish and catch! ...though he doesn't have anything on hand. He seems to just be strolling, dressed down in a shirt and swim shorts, flip flops on his feet. SCA on one wrist, and a gold bang around the other.

"Tidus, hey." Looking up, Ichigo grinned at the blonde. "Nah, he's just my fluffy little shadow. He's loving all this sunlight."

"I bet! Where'd he come from?" Tidus looks at the little guy. "You watching him for a friend? Or did he just follow you," he jokes. Ichigo, the catnip of cats.

"Got him from the train's shop and picked him up at the platform. Still haven't decided on a name, yet. Manipulative furry bastard is just such a mouthful, you know?" Ichigo laughed a little as his kitten sniffed Tidus's foot.

That gets a small huff of a laugh out of Tidus, who slowly crouches to meet the kitten, give it a tiny "hey". He doesn't know a lot about them, but figures holding out a hand and waving a finger can't hurt.

"You always wanted a cat?" he asks, looking over at Ichigo.

"Mostly I always wanted a pet in general, but with my Dad's clinic being attached to the house, we couldn't have one. Could easily trigger an allergic reaction in a patient if he had any hair or dander on him while tending to the patient, after all. And cats seem better suited to a train than a dog would." Not to mention Ichigo thought he'd heard rumors that someone had a severe dog phobia. And he didn't want to be that asshole.

"Yeah?" Tidus had no clue what animals would be suitable for a train, but there were enough of them--maybe plenty were. He watches the little guy for a second or so longer before looking back over to the water.

"We never had any back home. Never been a pet guy, but dolphins are fun to watch when you see 'em." Not that people actually kept them as pets...

"You know if anyone watches the animals when missions happen?"

Della prodded Ichigo in the back several times, but didn't look surprised.

"Welcome to the Vision Quest Club, kiddo."

Finally feeling the prodding, Ichigo shook his head and looked behind him. Seeing Della was actually a welcome sight after that psychedelic trip. "Is that what that was? And here I was wondering if there were drugs in the air."

Della gestured around them. "It's been happening to all of us - just zoning out and feeling like you're in someone else's body."

Della's words had Ichigo looking around and noticing others shaking off the slight trance. "I'll be honest, this is still not the weirdest shit I've ever been through."

[sos_pilot]

"Ditto." Della admitted with a shoulder shrug. "But this'll definitely make things more interesting a boring old vacation!"

Laughing, Ichigo nodded at her words. "That's certainly true! Here's hoping the fishing is good."

Willow is fairly light on her feet, and tries her best to not startle the orange-haired boy or the feline nearby. Nova, on the other hand, just rockets up and then hurtles herself down in a stoop dive at incredible speeds into the water to catch herself some fish.

"Is that small cat yours? It is adorable." She's clearly paying no mind to her rocket-like bird.

Looking up at the sound of someone speaking, Ichigo caught sight of the bird diving from the corner of his eye. "Yep, he's mine alright. He's pretty friendly, too, if you want to pet him." He was deeply impressed by the bird, and just hoped it wouldn't snag his line.

"Oh, really? Many thanks." She reaches down to the small cat, giving him a few pets and scratches. "What are his, and your, names?"

The cat stretched and purred happily at the attention. "I'm Ichigo. I haven't decided what to call him yet. I haven't had him for very long, so I'm still working on figuring out his personality."
