Event: Healing Waters

"Good morning passengers, it is day twenty three of the month of Grasshopper. All passengers of the Voidtrecker Express require rest. Next stop Jema’grethy Island. All passengers prepare to disembark."

It is a very strange morning message that rings through the train on the morning of day twenty three but as the passengers of the Voidtrecker Express wake their screens glow with the colour of the void and a holographic screen pops up for them to read.

World #2554098133741: A world once inhabited by an ancient civilisation and now preserved as a historical site, nature reserve and well-being retreat. It is famous for its relaxing hot springs, calming atmosphere and beautiful beaches.

It is a popular void-traveller destination, particularly among void missionaries as a place to rest and recuperate after difficult missions.

The Voidtrecker Express will spend three days here, arriving today and leaving on day twenty six of the month of Grasshopper. The dressing carriage is open for your convenience.

It is time for a holiday it seems!

Preparation

For those who go to explore the dressing carriage they will find a variety of beachwear and wetsuits. One cupboard has a pile of tents and groundsheets in all four team colours.

One cabinet is exclusively filled with beach towels, in a kaleidoscope of colours, designs and patterns. Another is filled with different shapes and sizes of plain towel dressing gowns. There is even a cabinet with buckets, spades and small rock-pooling nets.

It seems they are in for quite an adventure.

Arrival

"Shortly arriving on World #2554098133741. Exit from void in ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one."

The train lurches and rattles as it leaves the void they will get a glimpse of silver-purple sky and a beautiful ocean below.

However some passengers might be a little more than distracted, one staring at that table for a second too long, another seeming lost in thought for a couple of seconds, a longer than normal pause in a sentence. They see a vision, a glimpse of a life that is not their own. Not all at once, but here and there as the train descends to the island.

But then it is gone and things are back to normal. Just in time, as they come to land.

Jema’grethy Island

The train has landed on a grassy ridge, overlooking a beautiful beach of white sand and the ocean beyond. It is warm, but not too hot, a cool ocean breeze cutting through the heat making it pleasant. Behind them is a grassy plain, changing to forest in the distance. There is the sound of birdsong in the purple sky. To the west the land is more craggy, the silhouette of a fortress in the distance. In a word, it is idylic. A sense of peace permeates the island.

A little more worrying is the volcano-like structure in the north. But even a quick glance will show it is not a typical volcano. There is no smoke and the liquid slowly running down it in rivulets is pink and blue.

Exploring the passengers will find beautiful beaches, ragged cliffs to walk and caves to explore. Where it is more craggy the beaches are made of pebbles- perfect for rock pooling.

The place has no people, but it is clearly maintained. The eastern beaches have racks of shallow boats, both canoes and one- or two-person sailing dinghies. There is also a small building in which scuba gear is stored, along with several waterproofed manuals and instructional literature.

Ruins of ancient houses are scattered across the island, but the main settlement is built into a rocky section in the north-west that has been secured with ropes and stairways cut into the cliffs, perfect for scrambles and hikes.

There are no living quarters, but there are sheltered sections with basic toilet facilities marked as camping grounds in five different sections of the island - by the hot springs, within the ruined fortress, beside the harbour, on the eastern beaches, and on the northern face of the mountain.

Hot Springs

To the west are the hot springs. They have both outdoor and indoor areas; the indoor areas being wooden loghouse saunas, changing rooms and storage sheds, whilst the outdoor areas are a tiered series of pools spilling down the side of the mountain and shaded by brightly flowering trees. The waters are hot, mineral-rich and soothing.

Perfect for overly stressed, world weary Void heroes...

"It kind of does for those who actually don't know what it's worth is. For all I know it could be very little." He wasn't saying it in a bad way, but more he had 0 ideas and for all he knew could be much smaller than the other might think

"How much mana power do you think there is in an entire Netherworld? 'Very little' my literary ass. Look, mana power is basically what it takes to make reality play by your rules, so imagine how much it takes to basically undo a soul binding and restore an entire Netherworld and you've got the idea."

No, he can't give numbers!

"I don't know. Where I'm from Mana Power sounds more like MP in video games and that usually only goes up when people level up." it's not the same thing in this situation at all. But it also means he doesn't have an idea.

"Though I should have really asked before this... What exactly is the Netherworld? You say you want to change places into it, but I actually have no idea what it is."

"Naw, that's a different statistic. Sort of. Numerical mana power comes from killing enemies, and that DOES have an effect on various things like reincarnation, but the mana power of people on my level is on another qualitative level. And the Netherworld is the demon realm. You know, source of all evil, etc."

[sizedoesntmatter]

"Oh! I think I am beginning to understand it a bit? So because of what it is, it's a whole different thing." He thinks he was starting to understand at least. "But if that is the case, I think given the size of this island it might not be enough"

"There's more to a world than a single island!" Zetta wobbled in midair as he failed to indicate the ocean and beyond, thanks to a lack of arms.

"true, but at the same time we actually cannot get to the other places that might exist apart from this island."

"Oh, I could if I wanted to." Nothing was impossible for Zetta!

"But you don't want to?" He was a little confused at this point. The guy wanted to change a world to change back, but then makes it seem like he didn't want to.

"That adds some complications to the whole mess. Time and distance." And considering how the train tended to... well, force them back on...

"Complications? Would you care to explain?" Yugi was generally trying to understand at least this whole thing.

[badassfreakingoverlord]

"Suppose the train decides to take off and I'm on the other side of the planet. What happens?" Did it just teleport him back, or... Well, as much as Zetta thought he'd win if he actually had to fight the train, he didn't think that'd turn out well for anyone else at all.

"I guess you would be teleported back before we head off, I suppose. I know during the mission there was ways to go back to the train if needed after all, so I suppose it would be the same thing."

[badassfreakingoverlord]

"Yeah, that's the most charitable assumption. So assuming that's the case, what if I'm in the middle of a conquest and suddenly I get popped back there just as my minions are hacking at stuff and spells are flying and Prinnies are exploding?"

[sizedoesntmatter]

"Wait...what are prinnies and why are they exploding?" This person had a lot of things he didn't know about. Maybe trying to understand really was a lot harder than he expected.

"Prinnies are the souls of those who led worthless lives, stitched up into penguiny-sorts of bodies. The human souls are unstable, so when you throw a Prinny, it explodes."

Explains everything, right?

Just....what is this world?

Yugi stayed quiet for what might seem a little too long before finally speaking. "What happens to the soul when it explodes?" He didn't know why he asked this question.

[badassfreakingoverlord]

"It... explodes?" Zetta wasn't entirely sure how to answer this question. "But Prinnies are really, really cheap to restore. Like 10 Hel, tops, and they're good as new."

[sizedoesntmatter]

So... it's not like the soul vanishes when it explodes. It sort of more like a Kuriboh more than anything if he had to compare them to a Duel Monster.

"Your world is...certainly something."

[badassfreakingoverlord]

Disappeared souls are difficult to redeem!

"It's a Netherworld. It's part of the universe. In Celestia, Prinnies are forced to do good deeds for free all day, so it's not like they get away with their crimes when they're sent up there instead of down to us."

[sizedoesntmatter]

"I mean that doesn't sound too bad. I mean they don't sound like they explode up there." Because no matter how you swing it, exploding just sounds bad all around.

[badassfreakingoverlord]

"No, no, they totally do. Angels are just a little less likely to do that for kicks. The only place they don't explode is the semi-mythical Land of Prinnies."

Zetta said that with a straight face, apparently actually being serious.

"I mean I don't get why anyone would want to do it for kicks. But that's just me." He was taking this seriously and he worried a tiny bit about how the other would answer that.

"But I guess I have some understanding of your world now at least. Though I still say changing this world into yours might not help...but I can't say for certain either. I still wouldn#t think it was the best idea either way"

"So. What's your great idea then, that's so much better?"

So tired. Zetta was so tired of these arguments. 'Oh don't conquer the world and turn everyone to demons, Mr. Overlord!' they say, but that always comes with the expectation that he sit around and wait patiently for some miracle to happen. As if miracles happened to Overlords in the first place!

"hmmm..." Yugi was actually thinking about it. Sure he couldn't understand the situation fully and other world magic is vastly different... But maybe other world magic was the exact answer?

"Well we don't know how other worlds magic work, right? Maybe there is a world that can actually help with this situation. Insteads of relying on what you know, look into other ways instead, other magic see if any world has anything close to what you need."
