Not with a Bang Start and Ongoing
"Good Morning passengers. Today is day seven of the month of Imagination." The voice echoes through the train as passengers wake up in their beds. Not long afterwards their SCA’s glow with the colour of the void and a holographic image will appear.
Preperation
They have about an hour to prepare, a little less than usual but perhaps expected, given the urgency of the task.
The cupboards in the dressing room are open to reveal rows of tents, in all four team colours as well as some basic camp cooking equipment. They are in bags that should be easy enough to carry.
"Shortly arriving on System #6416. All passengers get ready to disembark. Next stop world 6416. Exit from void in ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one." The train rocks and lurches, bright colours of the void filling the space and then fading as they fly downwards towards a very green landscape.
Arrival and Initial Task
The train lands in a clearing, curving round in an attempt to fit. Once everyone who wishes to disembark has done it flies back into the air, vanishing from sight.
The air is heavy and humid, though it is not currently raining. The clearing is open to the sky and looking up will reveal a worrying sight. The sky is an angry red colour, colours shifting as if the clouds themselves were on fire. It's an unnerving sight.
Their SCA's show three points, one Orange, One purple and one that is half blue and half red. The three control centres. Each are a few hours treck through the jungle and it certainly feels like there is no time to waste.
Those that don't want to treck through the forest can start setting up camp, though the darkening sky might be a little distracting. As time goes on flecks of fire drift down, though they extinguish before hitting the forest floor.
Orange are to travel to the north, Purple to the south and Blue and Red must travel together to the west. Each route takes them through thick and unrelenting jungle. Flying is difficult here unless you can get up past the canopy layer, which means vision of the ground is severely hampered.
The control stations themselves are half buried in vines and require cutting into. If voidtreckers are unlucky they will meet their first security robots here, firing on the intruders. They might even meet their first giant Armadillos, the creatures are curious and may wish to investigate. They are not helpful or constructive to trying to power up the stations and prevent the destruction of the planet.
The control stations are simple enough to operate, but there's quite a lot that needs to be done in way of repairs and clearing. It will take a team effort to get it in working enough order to activate the shield.
The shield itself, when it is activated, is mostly invisible but there is a loud humming sound. The meteor, which has gotten more visible throughout the five hours, hits the shield and splinters, fire enveloping the whole sky. It is visibly terrifying, but no fire falls to earth, no rocks get through, the planet is safe.
Ongoing
Once the planet is safe the voidtreckers deserve a rest. But once the next morning dawns it is time to start with their next tasks, to make sure that this planet stays safe from future threats.
Red
The robots at the control stations are not the only malfunctioning security robots around. They roam the jungle, or are more often stranded in the jungle, powering up only when faced with a new threat.
Some are benign, terraforming machines whose only crime is using up precious power. These need to be dismantled so that power can be saved for the shield system. Others are security robots that will attack the intruders to the planet.
Though the machines are scattered they are often obvious, emitting warning alarms or flashing lights. Their SCA's will show some areas where there are larger clusters but machines can be found anywhere.
Purple
Their SCA's are filled with hundreds of purple dots, each a solar stations that needs cleared and brought back online. It's not the most glamourous job, the stations are deep in the jungle, the treck is difficult and most of the work needed is weed clearing.
But once the weeds have been cut away they will need to patch up the station, doing basic maintenance to get it back online. In some cases wires need to be patched back together but it shouldn't take any great feats of engineering to get the stations up and running.
They may run into some of the security automatons, needing to fight their way into the stations before they can begin the clean up operations.
Orange
Like the red team their SCA will show areas where there are clusters of the small insectoid automatons that need to be rescued and restored. However they can be found anywhere throughout the jungle, they are not too suited for the terrain outside of the stations and so they have gotten tangled in vines. They can be found powered down, stranded and in dire need of maintenance.
Tools and spare parts can be found in many of the solar stations that purple team have been locating. Actually repairing the robots takes some engineering knowledge but once they are restored they will go about their tasks in the stations. They will need help getting to the further flung stations as well as the main control centres.
They are very basic in design and follow pre programmed instructions rather than being able to hear and listen to orders. But once in the correct place they are very effective at their job.
Blue
Once the shield is up there is a faint humming that can be heard throughout the jungle if they listen closely and find it among the sound of rain and insects. But once they hear it, it is obvious where it is louder and more prominent.
Their SCA will pin point some of the larger control boxes but there are truthfully too many to show on a map. Not all of them have attracted Violet Pandas, but many of them have.
They are curious creatures, both of the power boxes and the voidtreckers. They are protective of each other but not so much of territory and therefore it is not difficult to move them on. Keeping them away is another matter, the power humming is interesting and they will unearth wires and chew through them. It doesn't seem to do them much harm, there is clearly safety stops in the system for such eventualities. It does however cut power off to entire solar stations and require a lot of patch work.
Good luck voidtreckers!

Wildcaaard RED!
shinynew Black Squad armband to cart around - possibly just for this mission, possibly for future missions; that still seemed all up in the air to her - but that didn't necessarily help her in uncharted territory.Like this one.
/Hold still!/ was the command in the Speech - which, if Reno followed the voice, was not being followed by the malfunctioning machine she'd stumbled upon.
She had one shielded hand up, blocking the machine from attacking both her and a nearby wire cluster, but the wizard still looked to be in quite the pinch.
At least the security 'bot's focus is on her?
no subject
The scene painted ahead seemed simple enough though. The girl was having issues with one of the bots and it wasn't really playing all that fair.
He disappeared back into the foliage.
The crackle of electricity was the only warning before Reno burst out of the greenery from behind the robot. He had circled around to catch the drop on it. Literally even as he dropped from a branch above and brought his Electro-Mag Rod down on the robot hard. Blue lightning sparked all around as the rod struck its target but most of its bite went into the automation.
/sudden TL;DR as I dig into Nita's thought process here/ Feel free to NPC other bots showing up!
The automaton, meanwhile, had been wholly unprepared, and the already-malfunctioning electronics were quickly overwhelmed.
"... Good shot," Nita said, eventually, once the thing began smoking and stopped jerking around. She kept her shield up, listening now to see if anything else was approaching.
"You used to getting the jump on things like this?"
Now, that might have been a completely innocent question - if Nita had been completely unaware of what had happened with Inigo.
But, well, he had just saved her from a violent machine - and, even though she had offered Inigo her help in avoiding Reno, she had not confronted or even approached the Turk in the time since.
Maybe that counted for something, maybe it didn't; for now, what mattered was the mission.

"Yeah!" He said with a proud tone and a wide grin. He twirled his baton with a roll of the wrist. He was casually relaxed despite the mission's danger. He glanced to the side as he heard more movement in the trees. "Ready for round two? I got this if you're busy with that." He said with a gesture at the wiring she had been protecting.
no subject
"Just finished fixing the wires when that guy showed up," she explained, thumbing at the current (currented?) remains.
"Now I just have to finish burying them deep enough they'll be safe from future chaos like this."
If there ever was 'chaos like this' on this planet again.
"Let me know if you need a spare shield or anything, okay? This shouldn't be long-"
It only required the Mason's Word and some pointed words with gravity. Unfortunately, Nita had also just given the perfect cue for a second interloper to come along.
She has finally jinxed something this mission. Hurrah?no subject
Anyway, he left her to it as the second bot stepped out of the foliage and spotted them. It was tripped up on the vines of the jungle and having a hard time moving closer so Reno took advantage of the slow pace to get in quick and hard.
He ducked under its swinging arm as he entered melee combat range. Maybe it wouldn't use weaponry while it was engaged in CQC. If not, Reno wasn't too worried about it. He was quick.
He struck it several times with his baton before dodging away and then repeating the process. Lightning flickered from the tip but nothing as grandiose as earlier. The Turk was playing with his prey.
This all right?
If. It was a lot to think about, and yet she didn't.
There wasn't that much to notice - the Mason's Word could be uttered silently, and there wasn't much material that would glow in response around here - as the wires sunk into the earth, down and down, and the dirt and plants seemingly knit themselves back together as the matter passed-
"You done up there?" she called back, turning her head to look up from where she'd been kneeling-
Her eyes widened.
"There's a second, on your right and above!"
It was one of the smaller repair droids, thankfully, but the way it was sparking could not be good...
yeah!
The repair bot had somehow managed to climb into the trees--versatile little things but he was certain they weren't really great at wilderness survival. The sparking didn't bother him but the idea that it might explode on him was a bit more concerning. He glanced at one robot and then the other, calculating.
He waited until the first one made another swipe at him with its bulky arm and jumped into the air. Using the arm as a stepping tool, Reno went even higher with his second jump. It gave him the height needed to attack the second robot.
He hit the repair droid with his baton and sent it flying backward into another tree branch. Sparks flew more aggressively as the damaged robot took the beating until it finally accumulated into a small explosion after it hit the branch hard. Satisfied, Reno landed back on the ground and turned back to the first robot.
Re: yeah!
With the wires no longer exposed, Nita let herself approach it as well.
/I'd said be still,/ she reiterated, before glancing over at Reno.
"If you wanted to make the killing blow, now's a good time."
She brought her lightning-bolt charm back into activity, just in case he declined.
no subject
The first robot was still functioning, if barely. Reno had his back to the repair bot and was smirking at the first robot that he had turned back to. His baton sparked blue electricity as he rushed back at it.
He hit it in a quick combo and little happened. But he dashed beneath its reach and attacked from the back with another combo. This time he ended with a bolt of lightning into its back. It fell over in front of him.
He looked up at Nita and the other bot. He shrugged. "They're just not built that sturdy on this planet."
no subject
Build things to last, people; never know what havoc they can cause down the line...
"You had any other business this way? Think mine's settled - but apart from dropping things off at base, not much else to do but keep going."
Always another station to check; more animals to steer clear. There was a whole planet to check on!
no subject
Then his enthusiasm was dialed down a notch as the conversation went to business. He made a show of looking at his SCA but didn't actually bring up the map. "There's plenty of shit to do in this jungle. Doesn't matter which direction you pick really."
He looked back up at her and considered. "You lookin' for an escort?"
no subject
"Not especially - unless you'd prefer teaming up to bait those robots, I'm fine either way."
It'd worked well enough for them just now, for example - but if Reno wanted to keep doing things himself, she wasn't too interested in turning that upside-down.
no subject
He smirked. "Hey, it worked once. No saying it won't work again. Too bad I ain't got the red team's markers but...probably could find a few more near one of the stations anyway."
This time he did pull up the map on his SCA and look at it briefly. He nodded in a direction as he dismissed the map. "That way's got issues."
no subject
In the back of her mind, she could hear Carmela Rodriguez saying, "I've got nothing but solutions." and had to smile.
"You want to lead the way, then?"
She didn't mind keeping up a rearview, not when they needed a full 360-degree perspective out here almost full-time.
no subject
And, he was a confident motherfucker who didn't give a shit.
It was a mostly quiet expedition other than their walking and Reno's beating of the plants. It didn't take too long to get to the nearest station though and Reno paused to look around the outside before they headed inside. "Let's clear the area before any maintenance work, yeah?"
Especially since Reno didn't really feel like doing the latter.
May flip a coin as to whether these weeds put up an argument. XD
She walked on over to the biggest bunch of weeds, frowned - a moment of concentration - and then said, with rather intense undertones in her voice:
/I think you'd better move, if you don't mind me asking./
Only, she wasn't asking.
l-lol. poor plants
He watched her for a moment, eyes darting around sporadically though as if he was waiting for something, another shoe to drop. There wasn't much going on around here though.
He got antsy and started to move off to look for robots when he paused for one more glance back at Nita and the plants near her.
I read it as 'clear the station of weeds', but. /plays it off ICly :'D
Nita hissed through her teeth, a tch-ing sort of sound - and then she marched through the weeds herself, going around the station the other way.
"Meet you round the other end?"
She wasn't looking at him, but it came clear she was covering up for not having had things work out.
I MEAN--it's not a wrong response! Nita's priorities vs Reno's. works well.
He shrugged it off. (Technically, not the first person he'd met that talked to things that shouldn't be there or be able to talk back...) There was nothing for it.
The Turk went around the opposite way, keeping an eye out for robots as he looked for the back entrance to the place. Hopefully it would be less full of plants and make getting inside to work a bit easier.
/double thumbs-up/ Not all great minds think alike, I suppose. ^^
/Don't suppose you know what's happened here lately?/ Nita inquired, doing her best not to sound irritated.
In any case, it came out the station was irritated too; too few part replacements, a handful of burned-out panels on top of that, the general presence of the weeds...
It always felt a little strange to be able to so directly relate to a piece of machinery, but right now it just felt right.
"There's a place here we can crawl in," she called out.
"It's on the small side, though!"
But it'd be worth having a better vantage point - one could go inside, one could stay on lookout for robots. Nita didn't much care who did what.
I should hope no one thinks like Reno does..... XDD
"Tch. Well, if you think it's a better way in.... count me out. I think there might be something hanging around here anyway. I'll keep an eye out."
TRUE ENOUGH XDDD /gets ready to roll more dice
Part thinking out loud, part just being honest.
Nita nods. "Sounds like a plan. Holler if anything big comes from above, yeah?"
Since that would arguably be the hardest direction to hear from, with no foliage to hit.
no subject
He'd take keeping watch out here over that.
"No problem," he said with another little fake salute thrown her direction. He started to fake march around the area as if on patrol, keeping an eye out. How long that would last though was up for debate. (Spoiler: not that long.)
no subject
Nita's time inside the station was, as Reno might have imagined, not fun. But she'd brought some spare metal, and with a few diligent wizardries had the worst of the rusted and decayed parts replaced.
This, however, did take time. And, naturally, they weren't left alone for the whole time it took.
A cluster of repair droids, low to the ground but rumbling quite loudly, made their way into the semi-clearing.
Were they malfunctioning? It was hard to tell.
