The Will to Fight: Finale: All teams
The Far Gate
Given that people have scouted ahead, it will be no surprise when those who arrive at the Red objective find an army of demons there. Unlike the other packs they have encountered, these ones are not roaming, and don't appear to be heading towards the city. Instead, they are guarding something.
A gate. It is larger than the others they have seen so far by an order of magnitude, and if there are this many demons outside, the keystone must be guarded just as well.
For those who are actually on the red team their SCA will flash up a message: This gate has multiple keystones. It is the focal point for other gates closer to the city. Close it.
Around the City
In the Caverns
Once the rockfall was cleared, those that wished to could make their way back towards the city. They might come across demons on the way, small packs scouting the land and hunting survivors, but for the most part their way will be clear until they get to the city and to the Voidtrecker camp.
For everyone else, there are plenty of non-combatants that need protecting. The cavern itself remains warded against demons, but patrols still pass and keeping everyone safe and hidden is important.
Almost all the citizens have thrown off the mind control now. Some of the younger children have started having nightmares, and keeping everyone positive and calm is harder than it was before with a goal in sight.
In the City
The sigils hum and glow. For those feeding them power it's a very long couple of days; though once the monks are free they join in, brusquely waving off any questions or concern about their wellbeing to focus on the task at hand: protecting the city. They will of course accept any extra energy. The wards are not meant to go out completely, it will take a lot of energy to restart them.
By the eleventh day it is clear something else is wrong. Some of the focus stones on the city walls are out of place, either knocked awry in the battles before the false peace, or sabotaged by demons. Either way, for the wards to fully activate they will need those not giving energy to go out onto the walls, to find the stones and align them. It's not too technical but might be dangerous, because outside the walls, a fight is about to begin…
The Battle for the City
The attacks have gotten more frequent but on the evening of day ten they stop. Silence. No gates open, no demons attack. The whole night is spent in a tense, almost eerie silence.
It is broken at dawn the next day, two massive gates open, one to the north of the city and one to the south. Demons march out, heading towards the city.
Not just demons, they each have two large structures, siege machines. It seems they wish to knock this city down completely, securing their victory over the humans.

As he leans down to help Prompto to his feet, the whips come. Zagreus catches most of their ire, and he settles himself into the unfortunate role of meat shield, his arm braced against the pull of two whips that unfortunately are wrapped around his forearm. "I'm sorry, Than...!"
He then gives a brief glance back at Prompto, giving a bit of a pained smirk. "Go on then, mate! Your friend's calling!"

She bounces out and towards the giants, luckily coming from a different direction than the area targeted by lasers! She looked around quickly, there's Lightning and the man with a number for a name. There's a giant and a kid.
She rushes closer, aiming her rifle. She's gotten good, but she's not sure she's good enough to miss the boy and if she hits him people will get all scrunch faced mad.
So she aims at the giants ankles instead, firing energy blasts towards them.
ROUND: please insert your epic music here as we get into final go mode
But the light of the raise spell cast by Lightning does startle the demon -- and 47 gets in his shot straight through the demon's head, making it crumble to the ground in an instant.
Prompto's blade hits its mark in digging through scaly skin and into the head of the demon. A move that frees him of the demon, pulling back from the young man, but also with flesh between teeth, a large wound taken with the demon's life. Prompto will need that aid from Odin and Zagreus to cover him as the demons continue to move fast thanks to the atmosphere low to the ground, those that will take an easy picking themselves if they can find it.
The chains that Caster attempts to control will need to feed off her own mana to stick, made by the magic users, non-existent once they lose ownership unless she can make it so. But there are the daggers or whips still that are more physical, and the magic users on the demon side are aware that she is a tricky one. With harsh cries they call in the faster of the demons, take a back row as they call for them to chase her, to pounce and keep her distracted, powers of anti-life in forms of spheres called forth that will bounce off the scales of their fellow demons, even if they were to get in the way.
As for the giants...
As Noct came within close range to the wounded giant so suddenly, he would have felt the pushback of the miasma both mentally and physically, like two magnets repelling, being before an open fire, yet the sensation to his body seeking to drain him of heat, of his life. But with strength and pushing through, he is able to pierce some way through the demon's eye. There's a deafening roar, a wonder how Noctis heard his friend at all over it, but more than that is the clawed hand that smacks at Noctis with a great force, sending him flying for the ground if he can't manage to teleport to a softer landing with the impact of the assault to his entire left side.
The second giant has not been idle. Finding its own moment to proceed with what it wished to do, it raises the scythe as had been done before, just in time for Vegeta's approaching attack.
Two forces meet, the swing of a blade that oozes in a dark energy, and that of the Saiyan's power shooting for it and the second earthquake as a blast rumbles and spreads through the field. Its light causes not only the lesser demons to be obliterated upon impact, but to do the same as Zetta's beam did in blinding light. And to the giant...
Once the light is gone, so is its scythe and hand. And with that, the density of the miasma is lessening. It is still thick, but it seems as if the sun that Emporio channels in the sky bears down closer to the ground, making it easier to breathe. Some of the open wounds on still-fighting demons begin to smoke.
The ranks of the demons are lessening. There is a greater chaos. Desperation for one last stand remains. The handless demon grabs its brethren's scythe and begins to move out with it, swinging it to send out blades of anti-life indiscriminately across the battlefield. Not caring for demon underfoot, only searching for the lives of the Voidtreckers to end.
Someone will need to help Emporio to get through the pushback to safely get past the waves that threaten everyone.
Little One's rifle shots do little to deter either of them, but there are jewelled stones around even their ankles, one already cracked - and one of her shots will cause the iridescent colouring in it to fade out. Jewels that cover the giant's scythe, jewels all across their armour...
But the one-eyed giant stomps its foot, one large tremor after another, an issue for those on ground, an issue that won't cease without a distraction.
Work together. Slow the giants and stop their destruction.

Prompto was aware that his shoulder hurt, and he was a little woozy from the fact he was now bleeding from a demon bite, gross, that’s the second shirt he’s wrecked on this mission.
He wasn’t going to focus on that. The cover was appreciated, but he wasn’t going to just stop. Especially not with Noctis getting smacked out of the air.
He had that giant demon’s number.
The knife vanished back into the armiger and he pulled out his handgun. He might be hurt, but he hadn’t touched his magic reserves granted by Noctis just yet. Magic made a second gun appear in his hand on his injured side and even though it hurt, he grit his teeth and raised it all the same.
He fired one gun after the other, sending bullets into that thing from his crouched position. The magic gun vanished and he took one final shot with his good hand, expending what was left of his magical energy in one go, this one bullet striking its target would deal massive damage, thanks to his limit break.
Noctis’ magic expended, Prompto slumped a little bit, sliding off his knees to the ground proper, sitting. He needed a minute.

Really, it was inevitable that he'd get smacked off the giant's face, like a fly swatted by a cat. "Shiiiiii - "
The strike itself hurt, and it's pretty disorientating to go flying through the air with great force - enough so he missed the awesome move his friend pulled off. Noctis was using all of his concentration to a) not throw up and b) try to find a point to warp to, so he wouldn't smack headlong into the ground.
Last minute, he managed to find a bolder from the corner of his eye, warp -
- and land rather gracelessly on it, nearly falling flat on his face. His entire body hurt. "Uugh."

But on the other hand, drawing this much attention means Grievance Power is supplying her with loads of mana.
It's time to make some tough calls. First, she drops the chains, letting them fizzle out without their demons attached. Second, she focuses on dodging the faster demons moving in. It's a matter of priority - her Noble Phantasm won't affect physical blows, but she'll rely on it to weaken the orbs of anti-life coming at her, tanking any of those, hopefully weakened to the point of minor injury rather than death. Likewise, it should weaken the arcs of anti-life from the handless giant, being flung indiscriminately, but she'll take care to try and not get hit by those.
And then she's unleashing curses around the battlefield, including the standing giants. She has mana to burn now, so let's take advantage of that! Indiscriminately targeting demons attacking her and not, cursing then with sluggishness, uncoordination, and general Bad Luck.
Let's hope it's enough, and let's hope she survived to see this through. She doesn't want to make the potato sad, after all.

Not to be outdone by Vegeta, the Namekian squared off against the giant demon once more. The stomping it caused was going to hurt his teammates--time to put a stop to that.
With one last burst of energy into his attack, Piccolo yelled as he flung his hand out, two fingers pointed at the giant one-eyed demon. The spiraled energy beam was larger than usual to accommodate for the massive fiend it was aimed at--straight for the chest, meant to rip right through the demon and proceed out the other side for who knew who far. Indefinitely, or until it hit something stronger presumably, since that's how physics worked.
If that took out the giant demon then all the better, he could focus on thinning out smaller demons or help finish off the other giant next. But maybe after a small break hovering in the air as he regained his composure and converted what was left of his ki into regenerative healing for his drained limbs.

It's not the big boss monsters, but someone has to start clearing this out. It might as well be him, even as his breathing is ragged from the running and the injuries. His back hurts, his arms hurt, but he's alive and still able to fight. He launches himself at the demons, avoiding the bigger ones. The anti-life stuff is an issue, but he's furious enough that it's not stopping him.
He hears the gear spinning in his mind, revving up louder and louder until all he can hear is his Persona and the sound of summoning. Everything else has been muffled to faint background noise. Shot after shot, dodging and ducking and stabbing where he can and using light and electricity skills where he can't.
Let them try to hurt him. He's still not done here. He won't fall and he won't fail.

With her now back in the game and using what magic she had left to deal with the demons, even if from time to time she still gets hurt with little mistakes and misteps she might make.

But still, she's not about to give up, she saw how the light in that jewel faded. She can see the other jewels on the armour, on the scyth.
She runs, towards the giant, switching her rifle for a pistol and a dagger. She would be better at shorter range, even if it was more dangerous. It was slow going, she needed the grav con just to move without falling over and there were other demons to contend with on her path but she kept moving, shooting at demons that got too close.
When she felt like she was close enough she aimed at the giant, at the jewels.
no subject
It looks like she won't be getting to go on the offensive today, but with the amount of power being thrown around, she doesn't need to. Keeping everyone alive is her job now. That, and staying upright.
Ken and Emporio are headed into trouble, the kid is charging a giant... Light's going to get grey hairs after this. Alright.
"Let's join up with those two before they get themselves killed," she snaps to Alleyana and Kairi. Not angry, but worried. "Rieper, you see where the kid's aiming?" Her rifle waves over to where the nameless girl is still running and shooting towards the giant, wreathed in gravity magic.
She'll trust him with that - if anyone can aim with the ground shaking like this, it'd be him - and starts to run towards Ken and Emporio. Snapping shots at any demon in her way. Hoping that the other two follow her.
Odin, still on defence, roars provocation at the demons. A healing spell falls over Zagreus and Prompto before he meets the first foe with a slam of his shield. It'll be up to the two men to deal with the demons, but he can keep them for a little longer before his time is up.

The starfighter needed some repair time, so it was back to the good old surprisingly high-level pickup truck, which slammed to the ground just a heartbeat before the minions launched one coordinated leap into its cab and bed and onto its roof. Since one of them grabbed the Overlord, he had perfect position front and center from up on the roof.
With a squeal of tires, the truck bounced forward, rattling across the wartorn terrain as the minions got to their feat, weapons raised -- and then absolute all hell broke loose.
"Giga Star!" "Darkness Falls!" "Storm Blade!" "Deadly Rave!" "Chrono Saber!" "Space Chasing!" "Heart Breaker!" "Prinny, dood!" "ZETTA BEAM!
Awesome carnage and power poured forth in a surging column of weaponskills and magic, roaring through the air in front of the truck. All of them had just one goal: to clear the area and let the Badass Freaking Overlord (and army) through the damn gate!
no subject
And once they get close enough to their goal, the Inquisitor lets out a shout that has the demons currently focused on Ken... change targets. Right onto her, making themselves easy pickings for the damage dealers while the demons try to pummel an immovable object.

The quaking ground was certainly a distraction but one that the master assassin could ignore. He simply had to take his time, breath deeply, aim carefully, exhale slowly as he pulled the trigger. His shots came slower now but his perception to slow down time as he aimed came in handy for precision shots. Despite the quaking earth his aim was steady as he shot at the glowing jewels on the demon's armor just as the nameless girl was doing.
Another breath in, slow exhale, and another shot rang out. Rinse, repeat.

The light turns slightly greenish, and a deep bell tolls through the air. Scythe already out and wings unfolded to help him move faster, Thanatos concentrates on defending those who need it by blocking an attack meant for someone else using that large scythe of his. Even if he can't fully block it, he's a Chthonic god. He can (hopefully) tank the hit.
Also blood and darkness! Why is that thing using a scythe?!
ROUND
Caster will be rather pre-occupied after all the attention she's somewhat delighted in taking - the waves of the miasma doing less, but a demon will grab her by the head, throw her down. She will be injured, not dead, but she will need help before she can do more.
Piccolo's attack will not come either with a clean hit. Distance gives him cover from the miasma, but there are not only the waves - weakened some thanks to Caster beforehand - but also Zetta's lightshow. He will be knocked, by which, who knows under this chaos?, but his beam will pierce into the side of the giant demon than its chest, still tearing through and the beam hitting through to the other side.
The shaking stops. The land becomes still and capable to cross.... er, well, just mind the friendly fire from Zetta.
But what of the skies, and the miasma? That too ceases, for the handless demon has dropped its weapon by its side, all to grab Piccolo and start to squeeze at him while he was meant to heal. There is no strong amount of miasma coming off the demon, its armlet shattered of most jewels, but there is still the crush to worry about.
Miasma comes off the weapon. But, there are a line of three jewels visible and in range...
Ken and Kairi will have an easier time to cross the battlefield, to take down the stragglers that have still found a way to survive the laser onslaught. Ken's Persona will aid in attracting demons the same as the Inquisitor does, and as he tries to tank an anti-life sphere, his skin will blacken where it hits, he will ache with the pain of skin, muscle weakening near the side of a cheek and his shoulder, but he will in turn be able to plunge his spear into the demon's head.
Little One has done well to avoid the shaking terrain previous, delayed more by the demons who will throw themselves at her to stop her. She is approaching the one-eyed giant and will feel the drain as she gets near, but it has weakened, and first will threaten to leave her breathless, creep slowly through her body.
But she will need to make a snap decision, as the demon - grievously hurt, but refusing just as strongly as the Voidtreckers do - to give in. It kicks out its foot to the approaching numbers. She will need to dodge, though more of the jewels will have been shattered by her and 47.
As for Thanatos, the Chthonic god and his scythe may find their desire to assist lead them for Caster, pinned to the ground, the other demons around her. His scythe will be able to slaughter the demons around her, and then he just needs to get the one on top of her. She does have a lot of mana to play and use now, after all... it would be a shame to go to waste.
The oppressive air and life-draining energy has weakened around the one-eyed giant who bores an open wound that is streaming blood from its side, a wound also in its back (for those who might be nearer to the portal to see...) and slouches where it stands; even its kick had been slow, and breathing can be heard harsh and ragged. The handless giant has been distracted by Piccolo, but not quite at Piccolo's expense. It pays no attention to its twin.
A new comer arrives!
She's not so blinded by it however that she can't see the rest are in trouble. The two giants are obvious, as is the chaos of the battle field. Levitating, dark energy tendrils leaking out from her cloak around her, Raven calls out "Azarath Metrion ZINTHOS." It's yelled like a challenge. Her hands are spread out in front of her, dark energy coalesced around them. From the ground, come more dark-energy tendrils and ropes at her command, as she seeks to bind the one-eyed giant, if she can.
She hopes to hold it in place, if not just to slow it down more.

"You know, you're not much to look at. If I die, I'd much rather go out to a pretty girl, y'know?" She grins at her own joke.
As she does, she sees something even through the blood that's dripped down her forehead and into her eyes. Namely, the demons around her falling to that goth boy from earlier. So, backup's arrived? That works for her.
"So I'd like to decline." And with that, she unleashes a powerful curse at it. Like her others, it's not a curse that can damage it directly. But it's a curse that can buy her time, this time working to lessen the demon's senses - and with that much power, sever most of them completely. Enough to keep her from dying and make it an easy target for anybody else to finish off.
Assuming that works and somebody else manages to take it out, she'll be able to finally turn her attention back to the giant demons. And if that's the case, she'll try and unleash the same, sense-denying curse straight at the handless giant who seems to have its attention on one of her.... teammates.
Well. That's a big if.
disclaimer i got no idea when he'll -reach- his goal, but he's gotta prepare before he GETS there so
But he can see it. He's been aiming for that central, primary stone, and from the looks of things he's not the only one taking out stones- and more importantly, the demons there.
Undoubtedly there's still at least some defense at that middle stone though, and he aims with the full intent of taking it all in one go- his attack, alongside any of those clearing the path to begin with. "TAKE...THIS..!"
Emporio doesn't charge headfirst- rather, he flips himself while holding the glider, so that despite the glider's aim, it's his feet moving forward as if to kick-
As Weather Report, over him, kicks-
As Weather Report takes the water, the wind, whatever possible even as the drain of energy and life and all with it wears down, and forms what is now a rapidly moving point of ice going in one direction. He might be tired- but he won't give in. He can't give in!
His eyes are wide open and his focus as strong as ever as the charge carries.
We interrupt this program. Prepare for trouble.
He couldn’t just sit back in the middle of battle and worry, he had to make another move. He pushed off the ground with his good hand, tucking his gun away as he whistled, loudly. He had a decently loud whistle and what he wanted was Noctis’ attention.
He grinned, he pointed at the big handless giant. It was a not-so-subtle signal. Meet you there.
Prompto kicked off and ran, summoning his Drillbreaker as he went. Couldn’t be that hard to get behind him, he was busy with Piccolo!
The first thing he did was drive the drillbit into the creature as the machine activated and it slammed into him repeatedly.
“Hey buddy.” He greeted Noctis, already feeling more energized from the position. It probably had something to do with his magic, but that was neither here nor there. Once Noctis took blows, he didn’t say anything, he just tossed him his Drillbreaker.
And make it double!
This time, he ran, instead of warped. Noctis really didn't want to go into stasis around a bunch of strangers, most of whom probably were nice enough but why would they care? If he couldn't get home, he was determined to be useful here. He dismissed his current weapon back into the Armiger, pulling around the back of the giant. Time for the big guns.
The Sword of the Tall materialized in his hand.
"You look rough, Prom," Noctis quipped back, but now wasn't the time to worry. "Let's do this."
As Prompto slammed the drill into the demon's back, Noctis swung the giant sword with a strength which might've surprised strangers - slashing and grinding the blade in and down in a few low, sweeping slashes. As he moved, he somehow could feel the pulse of the drill ripping through demon flesh.
He grinned. "Trade ya!"
Noctis didn't wait to hear if Prompto agreed - he tossed him the giant sword and grabbed his drill, to wail away on the creature's back in turn. He could feel his vibrations in his teeth. It was pretty damn cool, and out of the corner of his eye, he'd watch Prompto finish out the tag-team maneuver with the sword.
Team Lucis, blast off at the speed of light!
Surprisingly, even being injured, he had no problem catching it. It was like they’d done this before. Prompto slammed the sword into the back of the giant.
(Outside of these combos though, swords really weren’t his thing.)
He turned to Noctis with a grin, offering him a high five for good measure. It was a great battle tactic for lifting spirits.

His own powers of death do nothing to these demons, but Caster should have an idea what he's about to try to do given how they started the mission. Scythe held with two hands like Persephone showed him on the train, Thanatos fights his way to her and swings his scythe down on the demon pining her. He then holds his scythe at the end and swings wide to create more space for the two of them.
Once that is taken care of, he puts himself between Caster and the demons and switches to his sword. If the demons want to get to Caster, they'll have to deal with him first.
no subject
The persona looks even more giddy, somehow. She blasts the demon he’s fighting with electricity, sizzling and crackling noises filling the air. Her and the demon he’s fighting are all he can see. Nemesis is all he can hear. He’s faintly aware the tunnel vision he has might get him in trouble, but this thing needs to die, now. Another summon, but this time he sacrifices some of his health, feeling the familiar sensation of a stab in the gut as Nemesis lowers her top half to charge the demon, buzzsaw spinning at top speed.
