No Place Like Home: Outside
NO PLACE LIKE HOME: OUTSIDE
HOME SWEET HOME

You're somewhere familiar, or just - the last place you remember being before your life became tethered to the Voidtrecker Express. A field, a city, a kingdom, or perhaps even a space station. You should be nowhere, yet you find yourself somewhere, despite all odds.
People - if there are people - don't at first notice you; but attract enough attention to yourself, and that will all change. Friends, family - are they near, a phonecall away? It's either everything you wanted or everything you imagined (for good or worse), and it could seem unbelievably real. But it is real - you're off the train, back somewhere you know.
...If only.
You're moving away from where you arrived, for whatever reason. Who wouldn't? You may be far from home, have business elsewhere, or want to go sightseeing. It's time to return to - and live - your life, and that doesn't include sticking to one place.
But you'll find that when you reach a point, the world becomes...foggy. A fog that you hadn't seen in the distance before it appears, and when you walk through it, you'll find yourself in a place some have already found themselves in.
Because for some passengers, there was nowhere for them to return, and so the barriers lead only to fog, and then straight back onto the platform. The Voidtrecker Express may be stationed, or there may be a blanket of fog where it should be; sometimes, it can be caught trying to leave the station, only to come back a few minutes later. The doors are shut tight, and the windows are obscured, showing nothing inside.
Those who came from somewhere can go back, should they go through the turnstiles again. And if they want, they can take people along with them, too...
But sometimes, they go to a world no one knows. They go through the barriers into nothing, a black emptiness. Not space, for those that know space, and it doesn't seem to be the void either. But it is a void, devoid of anything at all. Just a darkness so complete they will not be able to see anything at all, they will only know their companion is there through touch and sound. How they are breathing, how they are living at all, is a mystery; one probably answered only by the SCA on their wrist.
Being there brings an unease deep down inside them. This place is not natural, not somewhere that they should exist in. Not a place that should exist at all. Luckily they are never there for more than a few moments before they return once more to the station, fog covering them like a safety blanket.

A DIFFERENT CORNER: LOCATIONS
In the first couple of days (whatever that means, when time doesn't match up between most places), the only way to move to another's tethered location is by them leading another there. But after that, individuals will show up in other locations when they reach close to the distance limit. Indeed as time goes on everything gets a lot less stable. They may know their five miles perfectly but still one step to another leads them back to the platform. Attempting to return to their world leads them somewhere else entirely.
And there's quite a few places to end up.

OOC NOTES
OOC post. Ask questions here.
LOCATION TOPLEVELS: Since it'll be easier for players to engage with settings presented by those offering them, when we see a toplevel for one of the above locations put up, we'll add it to the list! We've also included the OOC comments for settings to the side, so any questions can be left with the player, as well as extra details. Please always speak with the player first if you intend to do anything drastic to the setting!
A REMINDER: Time of log is Poi 22-25, but time within worlds can last up to a maximum of two weeks. Minimum is whatever you want it to be.
During Poi 22 and 23, characters will need to be led to a location to be able to access it. From Poi 24, people will show up in locations regardless of invitation.
The second half of the event will go up during 20th to 25th February (Poi 26-28). But as always, play around in here and do as you like!
If your character's setting isn't above, link us to it in the Questions post, along with your toplevel! We'll add it.

II !
Kiyoiri for her part has appeared relatively relaxed through the process of all this. She's come and gone a few times, but over all has done little more than stand and stare off in silent thought- occasionally pacing.
Such pacing is what brings her by Idia. "To your home?" she remarks, glancing at the computer floating beside him. "...That sounds interesting."
Sure thing, flamehead guy, she's down.
no subject
If it was interesting... well... "I guess if you get bored you can just leave again." Idia really doesn't think it's that great, but he's also a person who would rather live his life hidden away in his room and exploring the 'world' via the internet. In saying that, he has found some of the other stops interesting so far. It's nice to see the range of tech in them.
Idia hesitates a moment, as if expecting Kiyoiri to sudden ditch him after all that, before stepping through the fog and onto the grounds of Night Raven College, finding themselves at the gates as Idia shuffled down the main path and past the statues of The Great Seven. It appeared to be between classes as students are seen in the distance moving between the outer buildings of the school, heading to different locations, or taking up a spot to loiter and chat while they had the chance.
no subject
"A boarding school," she observes, blinking at the statues. "...One with high standing, too. ...Your realm has more magic." She doesn't tend to ask questions, it might be noted. All of her words become statements more than anything- observations she can make without any fail. While she can't feel the magic, there's enough context on the inscriptions of the Great Seven to give her that much. Looking to Idia, she blinks.
"...after this... ...Perhaps I should show you Chaldea. You might find some things compatible, given your tablet."
Magic mixed with Technology is what Da Vinci-chan's lab is all about. For now though- "...Not now though," she assures with a small smile. "If the gates are this interesting, I'm looking forward to the rest," Kiyoiri insists with a small bow."
no subject
"Chaldea?" Idia asks as he made his way towards the main building, mindful to not race off and try and be a good host and stay near. "What is that like?"
Oh, as for 'the rest', "Um... ah, well, what do you want to see? I-I was going to head to my dorm, but... ah, I can show you other stuff... too?" Idia really isn't good with this.
no subject
That's a for later thing however- for now, the girl smiles. "I don't know what's here- to me...the dorm is just as interesting as anything else; it's your judgement."
no subject
"Hmm, I mean... I guess?" Oh, though, "We could go to Octavinelle and Mostro Lounge." That suggestion is semi selfish as Idia wants to see if there was any limited edition items Azul had on the menu right now, since it was his last time and all that. Not that he often went there, too many people... but... well, now no one would even look in his direction, so it works out, right?
Although, "Might be hard to order since it's difficult to get attention though..." Hmmm.
no subject
On the other, half of what defines true magic is...well. Being unexplainable. He's not even wrong in his thinking; magic is gradually fading, was gradually fading, from the world, steadily becoming replaced by technology.
The results of Magecraft, after all, could always be achieved somehow with technology.
"Monstro Lounge..." Hmmm. She perks up a bit, and smiles. "...If you need, I have an idea of how to solve that. Even though we have to draw attention to ourselves...it should be easier, for someone who isn't typically from here. ...Especially in my case," she adds, looking around the campus as they walk.
"...This school is 'boys only', isn't it?"
It only takes a few uniform sightings to connect Those dots enough for a guess, and ultimately if the effects of their tethers weren't cloaking them from attention, she'd stand out like a sore thumb in that pastel street skirt-wear.
no subject
"It would be better if I, ah, ordered for us," As much as Idia hated the idea of that... ugh, to draw attention to himself. In some ways all of this, to go unnoticed, it's what he had always wanted. To be able to pass by without anyone even wasting a glance in his direction. And in a way it really helped being back here, he could go around without being stopped, do what he needed to do here without worrying about being stopped by others or prevented from going places. But it's also... weird.
"Plus I have the madol to pay." He still had access to his account here, and there was no way Azul would ever allow anything to be handed out for free. "Better for them to just ignore us again afterwards than getting the teachers called on us or something."
no subject
"...When you go to order...will it be seen as odd that you're here doing so? ...Particularly for more than one person? ...If we want to avoid incident," which she assumes he does, given what he's saying, "We should make sure that whoever you speak to won't focus on this too long. Otherwise, disappearing from notice won't change that."
And then it's only more exhausting!
no subject
Idia may stand out a bit... but hopefully he can just... deal with it. Honestly though... he's not sure if he can, but if he's going to be leaving this place, he wants to enjoy what elements of it while he can. Including a specific drink from the Lounge, and her being there is a good excuse. "It's fine."
During this Idia is leading the way into the main school building, through the hallways and into the
Hall of Mirrors. "Have you used magical portals before?"
no subject
"...If either of the first two would accept explanation from a stranger, I'm fine with helping," she adds with a small smile. The smile is smaller as she looks about at the mirrors, but not because of any shift in mood- simply because she's taking it in.
"...Portals, yes." In a few different ways, if she thinks about it. "...They were never mirrors though."
no subject
"Oh, well," Not that Idia has had much practice with other portals outside of mirror ones like this, or similar teleporters. "You just... walk through. It's fine." Idia leading the way to Octavinelle's mirror portal, a moment of hesitation to make sure she was following before he stepped through it himself.
Provided she gets through the mirror, Idia will wait on the other side of her before leading her through the Octavinelle dorm towards Mostro Lounge. Now that they were in a location where Idia actually had to talk to someone, not just pass people by, he was more nervous, picking at the edges of his sleeve as he shuffled on the spot, trying to spot the best time or person to try and talk to for all of this. Ugghh, why did this have to be so difficult?
no subject
...But now the hard part. "Do we have to be seated, or can we choose where to sit?" At least with the last one they can probably spare Idia some agony there.
no subject
...no, no it wasn't easy. It was horrible... but... he can do this!
He thinks...
Building himself up mentally so he could actually do this, Idia shuffled his way towards the front stand so to get them a place to sit, only to see... oh... "Floyd..." Nooooo. Leaning heavily on the entrance stand, looking like he would rather be anywhere but here, Floyd Leech didn't seem to look like he noticed, well, anyone mingling around the entrance way, many of those who wanted to enter the Lounge seeming equally reluctant as Idia to approach him.
After a bit of shuffling back and forward, Idia force himself forward, "Um, I, ah... I want, ah, a seat for, um, two... please."
At first the other teen looks bored, then his expression seeming to wake up as he finally 'sees' Idia in front of him, a moment of pause, then a wide smile appearing on his face. Wow, would you look at that, a super shiny person. "Ehhhh~? For two? Hmmmm, yeaahh, I guess we can do that. Booth or bar?"
[floyd voice] whys everyone freaking out abt idia ordering drinks today lol
Ah.
"...I see..." She keeps her voice low- best not to risk drawing attention to herself even if Idia did say for two- and closes her eyes. "...I understand..."
Perhaps tragically, Floyd's entire being seems to shout 'carefree'. Probably fine in any situation where they don't need to be careful. Oh well.
"We should be fine with whichever you're most comfortable with, but booth will probably keep us most hidden all the same," Kiyoiri continues softly, eyes on Floyd. Quietly, she wonders if the teen doesn't actually realize it's Idia- in theory, Idia should have an actual body sitting in an infirmary or similar. ...Or maybe he just assumes he's woken up? Or didn't even know he was in there?
Hm.
haaa, I mean, most likely first time he ever showed up there.
Whatever, lets count it as a blessing while it lasted. The longer she goes unnoticed the better. Then again, some of the boys at the school at times for mistaken for girls. Normally those out of Pomefoire. Hopefully if she did get noticed it would be assumed she, well... wasn't a girl. "Ah... booth." Idia finally gets out, hands nervously playing with the edge of his sleeve.
There's a very long pause from Floyd, almost eyeing him up. Before it snapped away in an instant, "Ok!" He grabbing up two menus and stepping away from the stand. "This way~!" Heading off without checking either of them were following him, heading deeper into the Lounge towards a suitable seat.
dark chuckling laughter.... but also deadass her fav animal is sea turtle so the lounge is heaven ha
As it stands if she's noticed she has a perfectly fine back up ready, called, 'visiting family at the campus'. It's not like she's old enough to be here anyway.
So onward they go, Kiyoiri taking in the scenery with a rather small, but very much relaxed smile. "This place...it's actually underwater, isn't it?" she asks, allowing herself to voice something as a question just for this. "...It's nice. ...I like the ocean. I'm glad you suggested this as somewhere we could see here."
awww. Trying to decide if them talking will get Floyds attention... hmmmm
Getting to their seats, Floyd dropped a menu one side, then the other of the table, waiting for them both to take a seat before half leaning, half draping himself over the back of the seat Idia took, causing him to jump as Floyd silently watched him shake nervously in his seat. After a long pause... he spoke, "Okaayy, so, specials today are~..." Listing them off in a tone that was half bored memorization, that he knew what it all was but told he hated the fact he had to remember it all. And half curiosity, now and then reaching out to try and poke at Idia's hair, only to have Idia jump and try and scoot further across the booth seat to get away from him each time.
Idia didn't need the menu, he knew exactly what he wanted, though still nervously fiddling with the menu itself as he stuttered to get his order out, Floyd's occasional poking not helping at all! "T-t-t-t-the Mostro Lounge Special Set." Stop it Floyd!
I'm definitely down lol
God, she can barely hear what's on the menu-
Hopefully that special set is- "...I am running out of booth..."
no subject
Through this there is a moment in which Floyd's gaze does turn to Kiyoiri too, taking notice of her also being there now, and almost seeming to need a moment to register that there was in fact two people... But he doesn't seem to question why he only just noticed her, but certainly eyes her in a way that tells he's got himself a second target... after the first that is.
"I didn't expect Savanaclaw would have people like you in it."
"Eh?" Is all Idia can get out to that, confused by it all, until Floyd takes a moment to pinch the shoulder of Idia's team orange hoodie. "A-ah, well, ah... I guess... the mirror puts you where it thinks best?" It wasn't answered in the most convincing tone.
"Hmmm, mayyybeeee~. I would had thought I would had noticed you already," And then to her, even more direct with Kiyoiri than Idia. "And why a little fry like you here?"
no subject
"I'm visiting the campus on behalf of relatives," she calmly replies, bowing her head. "...I can't come here under normal circumstances, as it's a boy's school, so I was happy for the chance. I heard good things about this lounge," she adds, beaming.
Perhaps the oddest thing about her smile is that it's a genuine one- she doesn't normally smile that broadly, but she really does like it here! "I love the ocean...so it's nice for the chance."
no subject
Until his concentration is broken by another voice passing them by, one much calmer and more collected than his, but from a face that was near identical to Floyd's, and in a much neater form of their uniform. "Floyd, there is an increasing line at the door, would you please leave our customers to their own company and deal with it?" A well practiced smile being added to that as Jade stays in motion, carrying the tray he is taking to another table, the delay just long enough to spur his brother on to move.
"Fiineee, okaaayy~. Firefly squid and rainbow tetra here still need to order though." Floyd answers with a wave of his hand back to the two of them, before pushing his weight off the back of the seat and back onto his feet. "Enjoy your stay~." It's polite, but also has enough humor behind it to say he's amused by all of this as he strolls his way back to the front of the Lounge, seeming in no rush to get back to his station.
Once Floyd's gone Idia lets out a long sigh of relief, his shoulders slumping as his nerves over this all start to leave him. "Ughhh... this was a mistake..."
no subject
That aside, once Floyd is gone, she looks to Idia. "...For someone you know much about, he didn't seem to know you at all. Do you look that different here?" A pause, before she adds-
"...No one is looking in our direction; you can relax a little, at least."
mini chapter 6 spoilers mentions, but we've talked about them before
That question though... well... he guesses it doesn't matter now. He's not staying. And no one on the train has connections to the school. "Everyone's memories were purged about me. I'm guessing my situation with my body is bad enough my family decided I wouldn't be coming back here and they implement that procedure." It's fine. It would had happened one day anyways. It's just... weird to see it in action.
pour one out....
Kiyoiri stares out from the table, only turning when Idia speaks again. The more he does however, the more her eyes widen. All she can think of after the first thing he says, is of the Lostbelt she had only so recently visited and shattered. Of a world reset, with people vanishing from memory at each point.
"...They would rob them of that, when they were already robbed of you?" she quietly asks, expression questioning and even after moments of time, still shocked. "...What good would that do them, then?"
