Race Against Time: Ongoing Mission
Once the training is over people can get to work pretty quickly, there is plenty to be done both out in the world and back at the hub for those not too keep on jumping straight in to a strange volcanic planet with creatures that probably want to eat them.
Hub
The underground hub is a centre of activity. It turns out there isn't all that much fuel for shuttles to get back up to the space station so trips are rationed, they will hold villagers and lindusi until they have full shuttles and then send them up. So the hub is busy with scientists, lindusi in holding pens and as the week goes on villagers who may not be too impressed with the evacuation.
There is food, usually large pots of soup that can be reheated whenever people are around. Though some heavier meals are provided at set times the people leading the evacuation are keen not to let any of their helpers, or those they are rescuing, starve.
Sleeping rooms hold bunk beds, usually around eight a room but as the hub fills up space gets limited. Sharing beds or sleeping on the floor may become necessary.
For those hanging around the hub as the week goes on there is plenty to do, small jobs, entertaining village children, logistics, communication. Or they can find a quiet place to rest before going back out on their mission.
Red
The skies are heavy with debris, both from space and the volcanic ash and rocks from the planet itself. The fighter craft are not difficult to pilot but nor are they easy. They cannot be piloted by one person, unless that person has four arms and space in the cockpit is tight for two people.
It's difficult work and it is probably good for everybody that the craft only fly for six hours before recharging, it means they have to work in shifts, and rest when they are not in the sky. The pilots from the world are generally friendly, if very focused.
Purple
Flying bubble pods around what seems like an apocalyptic wasteland may seem surreal and that's before they even get to the villages. The villages are mostly underground, bunkers where groups of people shelter. There are a range of ages. Some villages come easy, some do not. Diplomacy is key.
Watch out for falling rocks, rogue lindusi and angry villagers, all are threats that have to mitigated. As the week goes on the villagers get more stubborn, the earthquakes get more frequent and the villagers that are waiting to be taken off world get more impatient. It's a tough job.
Orange
The lindusi are scattered across the island. Mostly as far away from volcanoes as possible though there are a few that seem too curious for their own good.
The trucks to hold the lindusi in are kept in a central point in an area whilst the groups go out to try and round as many up as possible. The voidtreckers are encouraged to stick together as they don't know the area or threats very well.
Blue
The Blue team are to protect the scientists, both those collecting plants and other life samples and those with Orange rounding up Lindusi. Once they have the hang of the shield devices it's just a case of sticking close by, keeping both eyes open and being quick to activate shields whenever there is a threat.
There are plenty of threats, it's one thing this island has in abundance.

For the first few days, Danny spends as little time in the hub as possible. His conscience kept nagging at him that every moment he slept eating or eating here was one less person evacuated from the planet.
But even ghosts needed to sleep. He finally crashes and sleeps for a few hours before blearily dragging himself out to a table to eat.
Purple
Danny wasn't sure whether it was his experience with driving his parent's more interesting vehicle shaped inventions or all the hours he'd logged on space shuttle simulators, but it hadn't taken him too long to pick up on the techniques for driving the bubble pods.
Now convincing a group of angry people to evacuate when they really, really didn't want to leave? That was a different challenge altogether.
"You are surrounded by volcanoes right now, if you haven't noticed. Isn't it getting a little too hot to handle?"
Purple, Slightly Later
Any plans Danny might have had about not showing up as a ghost here immediately get abandoned when he spots an enormous lindusi stampeding towards some arguing villagers. He tosses off some excuse at his teammates and quickly ducks out of sight and transforms, reaching the villagers just in time to throw up one of his strongest shields.
It holds, barely.
purple
He looks kind of baffled.
"Was.. that an intentional pun?"
Re: purple
Well, it was only as intentional as his puns ever were. You know, potentially life threatening situation, stubborn people who refused to listen...
This was the exact kind of situation puns were for.
no subject
"I.." He pauses, like he's unsure how to even start to explain this, but then slowly continues. "While I'm entirely in favor of trying to keep these people happy despite the circumstances, I'm not entirely sure if puns are the right way to do so right now..?"
no subject
It might have even worked.
no subject
"Well, I'm glad you had an idea behind it!" See, always start with the positive parts. Always give someone a compliment before you say anything negative, that's the way Inigo works. (Usually. Until he gets riled up.)
"But from how grumpy some of these people seem, it seems more likely they may start a fight with you instead in order to get you to stop. That wouldn't exactly be useful at a moment like this."
A small pause, and then..
"And besides, that might be painful for you." Also important.
Hub
A helpful hand shoves a cup of coffee at him.
"Although I'd be careful, the Detectives were the ones who made this batch, it can probably bite back."
Re: Hub
"As long as its got enough caffeine in it, I don't care."
He gulps some down and makes a face.
"Definitely needs sugar."
no subject
"I did warn you. The Detectives like it strong."
no subject
Danny always figured that detectives liking bad coffee was just a movie thing.
no subject
"All I know is that coffee should not bite back, and theirs certainly does."

He sees Danny stumbling out and skips towards him. "Do you want some food? And some coffee, that helps when you are tired!"
no subject
"Food and coffee would be great, thanks."
no subject
He rushes off to get some food, that's an easy bit. There is a big pot of stew bubbling and he can put some into a bowl and get some bread. He hopes the other boy likes it, it's got meat and vegetables in it!
He returns more carefully than he left, balancing the bowl and the bread. "How do you like your coffee?" He maybe should have asked that before and brought everything out together. Jakob would have frowned at him. But at least he remembered to ask!
no subject
Danny was definitely eyeing the plate of food. Right now he wasn't about to be picky about anything, as long as it was food and not about to attack him.

"You want to redirect the lizard or get the people away?" Probably a very good thing she's used to working with a team. Questions can wait for later, after all.
no subject
"I'll take the lizard," he says in a voice that echoes faintly. He wasn't sure what the local opinion on ghosts was, and this was probably not the time to figure it out.
no subject
Letting her other hand curl with dark energy, holding the shield and make it stronger.
no subject
And there he stops for a moment, considering. He didn't want to actually hurt it, so ectoblasts and ghost ice were out. And he didn't want to spook it into charging at the shield and the people behind it.
It probably didn't weigh much more than a bus. He hoped.
Diving down, he comes up underneath it and focuses. It takes a few seconds to spread his own sense of weightlessness across something this large. But after that its a simple matter to just lift it over his head and fly the extremely startled lizard off to a safe distance from the settlement.

Hub
He'd come through earlier for a meal when he'd noticed Danny looking worn thin. He'd watched him a bit, but hadn't approached as the kid ended up passing out. He'd gone over and quietly added another blanket, but otherwise left the young man alone. The number of teenagers on the train had grown quite a bit and he regretted not knowing them as well as he had when the population was smaller.
However, it's when Danny is awake again and sitting at a table that he decides to check in. Scooping out some stew from a pot on the stove, he carries over a bowl and sets it in front of the teenager along with some water. His hands have been washed, but he's been mucking around with the crafts so much that they're stained with mechanic grease. Sitting down next to him, Tony gives him a casual smile. "Doing okay?"
no subject
He peers blearily at Tony as he sets down his mug of coffee (it had enough sugar and caffeine in it that it was almost enough to wake him up).
"You're the survey guy, right?"
What he hasn't realized is that some of the ghostliness that he usually kept under control was starting to slip out.. Nothing obvious, yet. But there is a noticeable coolness in the temperature of the room right here.
no subject
He frowned a bit when he noticed the temperature. It seemed colder in here, but he also hadn't been paying attention to it all that much. It could and was written off as having been working hard on one of the fighter crafts that had been damaged and how he was sitting and relaxing. That might cause a flux in temperature a little- but was this a little? He didn't know.
"You look like crap. Are you pushing yourself too hard?"
no subject
Yeah, he wasn't even convincing himself.

Hi! I'm super late to this party | Slightly later
Well. Yikes.
"Shit, you okay!?" Peter calls out to who he's pretty sure must be Danny as he swings in closer to help. He's not concerned about the fact Danny's been hiding powers-he's concerned about the rampaging dinosaur.
Peter does the only thing he can think to do and that is to fire his webs at the lizard and dig his heels in to try and stop it.
"Whoa there!" He calls out to it. "Look, I know you're mad but that's no reason to attack the village."
Never too late!
"Can you turn it?" he calls out.
If they could just get it moving away from the village, that might be enough.
