Let it Snow: Purple Start

"We are now approaching world#58291. Purple team to doors." As the last flurry of activity occurs the voice speaks again. "Warning: Exit from void in ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one." the usual jerk, shudder lurch as the colours from the window turn from the void to a white haze of snow.

The doors open for purple team to alight. It is a scramble down from the train, there is no platform here and the ground below them is a sheet of ice.

They seem to be in a town, ice below them, snow drifts piled high. They can see the mountains in the distance and high above the down there is what seems to be a giant ice block floating in the sky.

But for their more immediate attention there are snow creatures. Snowmen, oddly formed snow animals. Eight foot tall creatures made of ice. Some seem intent on throwing snowballs at cars and the buildings of the town but it is not long before the team are spotted and the creatures make their way to them.

This is their battleground. They may find things they can use as weapons in the town itself and their job is to ensure there is still a town when all of this is over. It’s going to be a hard and very cold few days.

"Yes, but as you may have noticed, I have no dragon here." So he was rather useless except when it came to hitting things. He'd be better suited for scouting, but team orders had been clear, and he hadn't wanted to waste any time arguing. "Perhaps you could teach me a few things." So he would be able to fight better. Amery wasn't bad, he'd had training, but Bucky was...well, the man was in his element, as he'd said.

"Of course." He nodded, keeping an eye out and aiming for the head when any snow creature came too close, making sure Bucky had the time he needed.

Bucky drops to the ground quickly, yanking off his boots and pulling on the skates, taking the little extra time to lace them up properly before tying his boots to his bag and getting to his feet again. He pulls it back onto his shoulders, and slides over to Amery's side. "Thanks," he says softly. "And I'd be happy to show you a few tricks," he skates ahead, because he's spotted a house with some sporting equipment outside, and most notably, there's a hockey stick. It is, he thinks, entirely too perfect, so he swipes it -- just in time to use it to smash a snow beast's head in half with the blade.

"Though most of what I do is just hit things really hard," he flashes a little grin.

Hitting things really hard was still impressive. Amery was also pretty good at it, himself. Surely there was more to it than that, though. Anyone could hit things hard, assuming they had the strength.

"I refuse to believe that hitting things really hard is all there is to it," Amery said, dodging another creature and swinging his bat at its head. "But thank you."

"There are a couple things, yeah," he agrees, breaking a creature's face in half by kicking it with the blade of his skate. "But being able to hit hard is what I rely on most." As he smashes a snow drift with the hockey stick after mistaking it for another snow-monster.

"So I see," Amery replied. In some ways, Bucky reminded him of Rook, but Bucky was far more well-mannered and much less difficult to deal with. "You seem to be a natural on ice skates, as well." Something that Amery had never quite mastered, himself.

"One of the many things I was taught in Siberia," he agrees, sliding to a stop and surveying the area. "But if you have good balance, the only hard part is learning to stop." It had taken Bucky longer than he's currently willing to admit to learn that particular part of skating.

He didn't know where or what Siberia was, but he figured it was some sort of place. "Yes, I'm...well aware of how hard stopping is," he said, lowering his bat for a moment. "I discovered it in, ah, unpleasant ways."

Bucky chuckles warmly at that. "Couldn't have been too bad," he replies easily. "Your nose is still straight." He turns when he hears more snowy footfalls, knees bending as he drops into a defensive stance, ready for whatever's coming.
