Let it Snow: Blue Start

The moment the doors open for purple to jump the train is speaking again. “Blue team to doors. Void shift imminent. Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one” The train lurches and shudders as the windows flash the colour of the void for a split second before it shakes again and they are back in that frozen tundra.

The doors open and blue can jump down into a large snowdrift. They are at the foot of an impressive mountain range. Snow swirls around them, the wind hows. Ahead of them, half obscured by snow is a tunnel entrance.

Even getting there is exhausting, wading through the snow. Inside there is no snow but it is cold. The walls and floor shine with ice and the way is treacherous. It is pitch black.

Their task is to find those hiding in the tunnels. Some have formed makeshift camps in large caverns, others have fled into the small tunnels and have gotten themselves lost.

The voidtreckers are lucky to at least have a map on their SCA though it does not show where anybody else it. It is time to start the task of rounding everyone up and making sure they can survive the storm.

Drop

It is time for the mission! Romeo is very nervous but he's also ready to go and help all the people that he can! He made sure to go and check on Joss and Elfnein before they arrived and to say goodbye to them. They would see each other again soon but it might be a long time.

The moment the doors open Romeo jumps. He is lucky that he is a shinki, his body can jump lightly and so he doesn't find landing in the snow too hard. He jumps again, towards the tunnel entrance and three big jumps later he is at the entrance. He waits there though and looks back, if anyone needs help getting through the snow he is sure to jump back and help! He isn't going to leave anybody behind!

Tunnels

The tunnels are dark and he pauses, looking around. The watch he is wearing shows a map but not where to find anyone. He stands looking around and then towards any of his team nearby.

"Which way should we go first?"

Splitting up might be a quicker way to find all the people but then they might all get lost. It was a tricky thing to think about but there's lots of smart grown ups on the team and so he's sure they will have thought of a good plan!

Liquid Ice

A few hours in Romeo spots some water. It catches his eye because everything is so cold and frozen. It seems to be moving and he tilts his head. "Look..."

Before he can get any further it darts forward and wraps itself around his food, freezing solid, trapping him to the ground.

"Argh!" He tugs his foot, ice cuts into his skin. "Line!" He fires a borderline down at it, wincing as it slices into his leg. Some ice does chip off though.

Madoka is having a little bit harder of a time trying to get through the snow. She's at least prepared when it comes to making sure she's dressed warmly, but there's only so much you can do when you have to wade through the snow when you're tiny. And you can't even do super cool big Romeo jumps!

Which means Madoka is trying really hard to wrestle through the snow to get to the tunnel, but not making much progress quickly.. please come help her, Romeo..

Marcus turned toward Madonna and Romeo, being slightly prepared before for a scene like this. The only difference? This wasn’t a man vs machine war. But Marcus had wrapped the blue coat around him like he was going on into a nuclear winter wasteland.

He looked at his teammates “Alright, I heard I might have a bit of trouble because I’m somewhat tech, but I need you guys to cover me if things fall to shit. Marcus held his plasma rifle close as he looked around the area with a light attached to it. “Come on guys, these people need us.”

Drop

Fwump.

Why is Blue team so damned short and jumping into a snowdrift? Ple Two would never allow the indignity of seeming like she needed help, and she struggled out of the snow on her own, brushing herself off. At least the clothes really were wonderfully warm.

"I could really use some kind of proper weapon." A kitchen knife was just too limited.

Icicles

...an aluminum baseball bat was no one's definition of 'proper' either, but even hardened monsters made out of ice were still more brittle. Ple Two had scavenged it, and was leaving things like 'communication' up to people who were good at it.

Despite appearances, she was just making sure those they rescued were safe. That meant using every bit of her superhuman reaction time to track the icicles they'd stumbled into, batting them away with every ounce of strength she could wring out of her too-human, too-skinny body. "Learn... your... lesson!"

Pre drop: All of his team seemed to be present and accounted for. Ignis packed extra food for the rations for the Blues as they would be on the ground and trying to feed other people as well. He'd also packed his two magic flasks holding the Fire spells that had been done already and some ethers, recalling his conversation with Caster. Whatever happened, he had his team's backs, that was his job. The advisor is also stocked with potions, ready to use them on train folks or those trapped in the tunnels. Several times as he makes the rounds he reaches for his bracelet.

Drop: The snow is colder for some reason than when he was enjoying it in the carriage. He looks around to make sure everyone has at least surfaced and will pluck or dig anyone out that hasn't quite made the landing easily. His green eyes scan around and tries to make sure everyone is okay.

"Is everyone alright?"

Ground: "Be cautious." Ignis warns this because obviously this is ice and people can slip and fall. In the blackness, he set flame to a dagger. It didn't do too much but it was a source of light. His first task is to gather those hiding and then make a campsite if one can't be found. There he would do his best to keep the people warm and fed until they could escape.

Madoka feels tired already. Seriously, who did think to dump all these tiny Blues straight into the snow. It feels like she's been walking for a few miles instead of just wading to here through the snow.

But she knows she can't give up. This is no place for a nap, and she needs to do her part for the mission! So when she hears Ple Two speak up, Madoka is already walking up to her.

"Um.. If you want, we could try to look for one together."

Yes, one. Because please don't put any weapon in Madoka's hands, she might cry.

Despite having made sure to prepare and dress warmly, the cold still is more intense than Madoka could have imagined. And being dropped into the snow at first sure didn't help with that either, especially since it's hard for such a tiny girl to make it through the snow. But she did it, she managed! She's here with everyone else in the tunnels!

Although it's still cold down here. And dark. It'd probably be easy to lose each other under those kinds of circumstances, right? Madoka knows she's probably the weakest link in this team, so she doesn't want Ignis to have to worry about her..

It takes a few moments of pondering as others are talking, but then she - carefully so she won't slip! - makes her way over to Ignis. She makes sure he notices her first, so he won't be super startled out of the blue, but once she's sure his gaze has crossed hers Madoka slowly moves to hold the man's hand like she did before when they were going to build a snowman.

"Um, mister Ignis.. I'll stay next to you like this, then you won't have to worry where I am. If that's okay."

He spots Madoka and jumps again, over to her side this time! He's not going to leave her behind! Not ever!

"Madoka!" It almost hurts to talk, it's so cold! "Take my hand and we'll get to the tunnels together okay!"

"Um..." He didn't understand what 'somewhat tech' meant but he understood what he meant about covering him and nodded. "Of course sir! I'll keep an eye on you and if help you if you need it!"

The people of this valley needed them and so it was important that they worked as a team and helped each other get the job done!

"You got a light sir, that's good because it's really dark!"

It really is much harder to talk out here. So Madoka spares her energy by just nodding in return and immediately taking a hold of Romeo's hand without hesitating. The most important thing right now is for them to get out of this snow, at least to a bit of shelter!

And although it's hard to smile in the middle of all the cold, there's still a hint of gratitude in Madoka's face. Or maybe the way she squeezes Romeo's hand a little as she already tries to move forward again.

Romeo grinned at her and squeezed her hand tightly. It would be alright, they would get through this snow and ice!

He keeps tight hold of her hand as he steps forward. He doesn't think he's strong enough to jump and carry her.

"Almost there!"

Thankfully the jumping doesn't seem like it's necessary. Just having someone there literally holding her hand is already helping Madoka a lot in moving forward. Not to mention that Romeo knows the way better due to him already having jumped over there just now, so he's kind of guiding her along as they go.

"I.. I'm trying..!" She's still moving!

"You're doing really good, Madoka!" He grinned at her quickly though then turned back towards the tunnel entrance.

The wind whipped away their breath but one foot and then another and then another. The tunnel was almost right there!

She's making sure to really hold onto his hand as much as she can while they're still going, but she does feel the cold wind starting to make her feel more and more ragged.. Madoka briefly closes her eyes to gather her strength, trusting that Romeo will keep guiding her the right way even if she doesn't look. Despite being slightly younger than her, he really is reliable.

By the time she opens her eyes again, she finds that they're already at the entrance of the tunnel.

She gasps. "We.. We made it!"

(Madoka is still not letting go of that hand though. Maybe since she was so focused on clinging onto it just now.)

Romeo will indeed keep guiding her, keeping his eyes open even as the wind hurts them and ice gathers on his eyelashes. It had never ever been this cold in heaven and even when they had gone down to Japan it hasn't been this cold either!

He smiled at her as they stepped into the tunnel. It was still cold but at least the wind was gone! He wrapped his arms around her, thinking she could do with a hug. To keep her warm and her spirits up.

"We did! Good job, Madoka!"

It's the hug that seems to snap her out of just standing there and staring at the tunnel entrance without doing much else. If not just since the sudden hug practically forces her body to move a little, shaking her brain slightly back to Earth.

"O.. Oh!" She blushes a little at suddenly being hugged. Or maybe it's just the extremely cold weather. But after a second she shrugs that off enough to be able to hug Romeo right back as well. "No, you're the one who did a good job..! I don't know if I would have made it here if you hadn't been there.."

This place was so cold, he wondered if they would find anyone alive here in this place. But he'd come armed and was ready to face it. It was all he could do not to fall on his arse and stay upright though somehow he managed it.

Hearing someone come up beside him, Ignis turned and looked over at Madoka. He was relieved to see she was alright and hers had been the very first face that he'd been looking for. As big as the blue team had gotten now, he still tried to keep his eyes out for the most vulnerable members which to him were Madoka and Romeo.

He's surprised that she takes his hand and holds onto it and can't help but recall how they'd played together in the snow. Obviously the circumstances were very different between then and now, but still. That tiny little hand in his lifted his spirits and he smiled at her though it might be hard to see.

"That is perfectly fine." It went unspoken that the advisor would of course protect her with his life. For now though, he was just going to enjoy her presence and this was one way to take a load off of his mind.

Marcus turned "I'm a cyborg, I'll explain later."

Every so often, Marcus found himself moving slower than usual in this cold weather. Tech wasn't working as well as he thought out here.

"Yes, it's small but it should do."

Marcus turned and walked closer, moving the light on his plasma gun back and forth, trying to see who was collected in the darkness.

"Hey, anyone in there?"

Pre-drop

Marcus hadn't met his team leader or in his case his team's Commanding officer(CO) so he wasn't exactly sure what to expect.

Drop
Marcus eyed Ignis and nodded, he had his plasma gun on his back. "I'm fine, Let's go look for the others."

Ground Marcus's light on top of his Plasma rifle joined in the flames on the dagger "I've got your back, Ignis."

Marcus didn't hesitate and pulled out his Plasma rifle, shooting a laser made of plasma at the icicle, knocking Pie Two out of the way "I got this one, be careful!"

Snow is heavy and awful. THIS is the dark side of snow. And Madoka still isn't as tiny as Ple Two.

But there's no time to complain at this point. "A hatchet of some kind would be welcome." You know, like, for chopping wood? Repurposed for chopping...

Living things possibly.

"And you don't treat me like an idiot!" Could she just 'mistake' him for an icicle and bash him?

...no, then she'd probably have to carry him around, and he's like three times her size. "And give me a spare of that if you have it." To make up for being rude.

Marcus eyed Pie two. "Could you handle that then? I just saw that was about to smash into you..."

"But you can handle it. I understand perfectly."

Marcus eyes his gun "When I find time, i'll give one to you. "

"All I've got is this damned bit of metal, I have to stay close!" She doesn't even want to give these things a chance to, what, reset themselves? Unfortunately, it was tiring her skinny little arms out just keeping up, but she couldn't lay down and let other people do the hard work.

A gun will be appreciated, if that ever actually happens.

Marcus frowned "This is just as bad as shooting endless Terminators that keep coming."

"How long do these things keep spawning?"

"Somebody go in and find the people, We can hold the ice off so far!"

Marcus kept up his aim at the ice while he hoped Pie could hold off what she could with the ice.
