Purple Team Onward!
Initial Clash
Once everyone is in fighters they set off towards the oncoming army of ships. There is about an hour for Purple team to get used to their ships and used to the fact they were in space, flying towards a battle.
The battle, when it starts is fast and quick moving. The enemy tactics involve sending in their smaller ships to weave and fire and break up any battle formations, whilst their larger ships stay more stationary and fire at ships once they are cut off from the others.
The Empire of Stars have the advantage in that they are a trained army, rather than a rag tag band of inter-world fighters some who have never been in space before.
But the Void Treckers don't need to defeat this army, just distract them long enough for red team to sneak past and for the army of System #7212108 to arrive and take over.
Recuperating
Once they are relieved they will be led to the main battle station in the system. There they will be given barracks, medical assistance if needed and a quick briefing on the state of the battle. This new army changes things but they will be split between the different battalions to pad out the forces. Anyone who has a specific skill can make themselves known and will be assigned suitable tasks.
When they aren't out fighting they can rest at the station, they aren't subject to martial discipline but will be expected to respect the rules and stay within the barracks and mess hall assigned to them.
Fighting
Throughout the next few days there are a series of clashes, when they aren't fighting they patrol and wait, striking at the enemy when ordered to and defending when needed. It is a mixture of very boring guard duty and very fast paced, terrifying space battles.

getting organized
So when Alice notices Renee climbing into one of them, she slowly walks over to the vehicle, giving it a curious glance before looking at Renee.
"Are you familiar with these things?"
no subject
"I'm not going anywhere yet, you can feel free to climb up in the cockpit and have a look. You'll be in the weapons seat, though, so just point at the buttons...setting something off would probably be bad right now..."
Still, she'd be happy to give the other girl a crash course. "I've seen you around, but I don't think we've met. I'm Renee Corbin." She'll reach over to offer up a hand if the girl climbs on up!

But then Renee says the words 'weapon seat', and Alice is climbing into the ship in an instant. Sometimes it's about the simple things in life..
".. Alice Liddell." It's happening in a pretty awkward way, but she does reach back to give Renee a slight handshake. Leaving her hanging would only make things more awkward, right.
"I'm still new," she explains as she takes the seat. "And I haven't spoken to many people yet."
no subject
"I've done flights and weapons before in a different ship, but not this one. If you wanna go out for a spin, we can, but I'd wait to try firing 'til we're actually in space. I'm all for breaking stuff, but at the right time, you know?"
She's trying to make a joke, but Renee's not the best at that sort of thing...
no subject
"Well, I'm fairly sure the people here aren't going to appreciate it if we shoot up the station." As if that's literally the only thing stopping Alice from trying it out.. (It kind of is.) "But they can hardly expect us to go in blind, unless they are utter morons. Let's go up there for now and see what it's like."
What's the worst that could happen? (Don't answer that.)

She leaned over to point out some of the knobs and buttons. "Not sure if you've played some of the VR games on the train, but there's a bit of crossover, at least. I've done some piloting and played the games--" she and Prisoner were usually in there when she didn't have class or homework, after all. "You don't need to worry about flying. This drops cluster bombs, but those are finite. That one fires lasers. That one aims both. And that's enough from me. You ready?"
Renee could tell that Alice didn't have a whole lot to say. Talk was cheap anyway--it was time to kick some ass!

But at least the explanation is slightly understandable. Press buttons to destroy things, right? That much she can do, so she just nods.
"It sounds understandable enough. Let's go try it out."
no subject
"Sure thing." She picked up the helmet and put it over her head, adjusting the mouth and earpieces as she did so.
"Control, this is Fandango One, going out on a limb again. Gonna show someone how it's done, so I'll do my best not to get in a serious dogfight, over!" But she laughed then at whatever was said to her.
"'Kay, we've got clearance, so I'm firing this baby up! Make sure your helmet's on tight," Renee said, as she punched in the inputs to start the fighter up, and lurched backwards as the jets ignited and it began to move. "And hold on!"
no subject
.. although not really in a bad way. This is much more interesting than anything on the train, that's for sure. (That, and it takes a while for Alice to be able to fit all that hair under her helmet anyway, so she can use the few extra moments.)
"Do you always talk so much?"
Despite the fact that she's quipping over here, it doesn't sound like she means it in any mean way. Alice can sound far harsher than this if she wants to. If anything, the airy breath after it seems.. faintly amused? It's always so hard to tell with Alice's resting bitchface.
"But I'm holding on." She's survived so much, how bad could one of these things taking off be, honestly?
