Purple Team Onward!
Initial Clash
Once everyone is in fighters they set off towards the oncoming army of ships. There is about an hour for Purple team to get used to their ships and used to the fact they were in space, flying towards a battle.
The battle, when it starts is fast and quick moving. The enemy tactics involve sending in their smaller ships to weave and fire and break up any battle formations, whilst their larger ships stay more stationary and fire at ships once they are cut off from the others.
The Empire of Stars have the advantage in that they are a trained army, rather than a rag tag band of inter-world fighters some who have never been in space before.
But the Void Treckers don't need to defeat this army, just distract them long enough for red team to sneak past and for the army of System #7212108 to arrive and take over.
Recuperating
Once they are relieved they will be led to the main battle station in the system. There they will be given barracks, medical assistance if needed and a quick briefing on the state of the battle. This new army changes things but they will be split between the different battalions to pad out the forces. Anyone who has a specific skill can make themselves known and will be assigned suitable tasks.
When they aren't out fighting they can rest at the station, they aren't subject to martial discipline but will be expected to respect the rules and stay within the barracks and mess hall assigned to them.
Fighting
Throughout the next few days there are a series of clashes, when they aren't fighting they patrol and wait, striking at the enemy when ordered to and defending when needed. It is a mixture of very boring guard duty and very fast paced, terrifying space battles.

Probably call it ‘Fandango’ (it’s a real color btw)
Now inside the ship, Spinel has her place at the back of Renee’s headrest with her legs twined into the supports for an anchoring. She is aware of how Renee is moving being attached this way, but not at all bothered, “Sure am! I’ll move if I need ta.” Then at the shift towards humor, Spinel pick up the thread with a note of amusement, “Only if you’re not creative about it. But this’ll keep everything clear and there won’t be an accidental button press.”
Her flexibility allows her to not only watch Renee teach tucked in the limited space, but she can interact with Prisoner. A stretch through her neck and careful pathing allows her to peer upside down over his shoulder in the other chair. “Ready to go on this side?” Spinel is nervous, but she’s smiling. At least to begin, she won’t be trying to manage any controls.
fandango is actually really pretty i love it and the name
After Renee climbed up with Spinel into their seat, Prisoner hopped into the second pilot's seat in the two man ship, looking over the controls. It was quite a bit more complex than the video game controller, with a good deal more buttons, but he at least could recognize what the actual movement controls were. His hands were already resting on them, just feeling what they were like in his hands, when Spinel's head popped up.
He gave an excited head nod with a thumbs up to Spinel - it was probably easy to imagine just how excited he was with his movements. He was jittery with excess energy and was ready to get going, almost literally vibrating in his seat.
same, I thought it was neat.
Sorry, Prisoner. You've gotta wait!
"Okay, help me with these." Renee worked through the pre-flight sequences for the fighter, letting Spinel get some button pressing in as well. "All right, brace for ignition!" She knew how to fly, but she and Prisoner at least were still somewhat squishy...
The thrusters roared, and Renee gripped the controls, maneuvering the ship through the doors and into space. It's fairly clear she's had some experience--she heads straight for some space debris to give Prisoner the opportunity to blast it to smithereens!
"If you wanna take over at all, Spinel, let me know? Otherwise I'll let you have the controls halfway through and you can take us home. I suspect they'll have us out here for three hours or so before we need refueling. Sadly, pretty sure we've gotta head back to the ship for that, unless we get told differently."
