Deep Dweller: Start

After the dreams some of the voidtreckers report on day Four of Grasshopper those that have been on the train for a little while will be expecting what comes the next day. Their SCA's glow with the colour of the void and a holographic image will appear.

Preparations and Arrival

As promised the dressing carriage is opened for optional extras. There are flight suits, similar to those they wore into space but without the helmets. There are instead hard hats and some basic climbing gear as well as bags to put supplies in. There are even a few red tents if any of those planning on tackling red's mission want to grab one, they hold six people in two inner compartments and are relatively easy to put up and take down.

They have a few hours of preparation before the announcement comes. Soon approaching system #789327772. Planet Terra. Drop order: Orange, Red, Blue, Purple. Orange to doors. Leaving the void in ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one. A sharp jerk, a judder and the view from the window changes from the void to dark cloudy skies and very red sand.

They land smoothly, and indeed it seems they have landed on train tracks. A few moments later they pull up outside a huge metal and glass building.

Orange Team

Arrival

Jumping down from the train they will find themselves outside large metal gates. Noticable is the spotlights that shine even in the day time, reflecting oddly off the red sand. It is hot and dry outside, a slight breeze sending red dust rolling around their feet.

The gates aren't locked. There is no lock though they will notice devices that are probably security cameras. The doors are glass and inside is light and airy. They enter into a large lobby, a large circular desk in the centre and a glass walled waiting room to the side.

It is empty. No people at all. All the lights are on. Time to explore.

Exploration

Going up two floors and down five the lab is large and full of all manner of interesting things. Scientific equipment, monitoring stations measuring chemical levels in the air, temperature, water levels. Where to even start is a good question. The lights remain on, which might be annoying at night.

Red Team

Arrivals

Red team to doors. The train continues travelling along the train tracks, looking out the windows they will see endless rolling red sand. Factories rising up from the ground, dotted across the landscape. As the train gets close the air outside seems hazier, through the fumes. They may even see in the distance, strange silver floating orbs.

Eventually it pulls up at a station. Just a raised block really, but easy enough for red team to disembark.

The land stretches out around them. Train tracks criss cross the surface but apart from that there don't seem to be any boundaries. No fences, roads or sign posts.

It won't take them long to find the first orbs, strange silvery spheres and seem almost liquid, until they are not.

Night Time

It grows dark quickly after sunset here, which might take them by surprise. Taking them more by surprise however may be the scraping, scuttling noises in the dark. Skittering close. There is no light out here on the surface, they are far away from the research facility that Orange found themselves in.

If anyone manages to catch a glimpse they will see grey, long limmbed creatures. They shy away from light but anyone in the dark is likely to be attacked. They fight with claws and teeth.

When the sun rises they are gone.

Blue Team

Arrival

Blue team to doors. The train continues across the landscape, passing more orbs, just floating there silently. It stops at the entrance of a cave.

The cave slopes downwards into darkness and soon turns into small tunnels. They don't need to go far when they meet the first ground of Gry. A group of young Gry, practising with spears in an wider section of cave.

Despite being very surprised at the sudden visitors no weapons are pointed at the voidtreckers, instead they are met with curiosity. They are soon led further into the tunnels and soon come to the living areas.

The Gry lead simple lives but they are all pretty fascinated to see their visitors and will allow them to look around their home and answer any questions they have.

Night Time

Most of the Gry sleep in a large communal sleeping area and the Voidtreckers are welcome to join them, though the Gry won't be insulted if they choose to seek out a more private area.

If the Voidtreckers awake in fear in the night, after strange dreams they will find they are not alone. Many of the Gry have awoken too and will reassure the Voidtreckers, tell them it is an honour to communicate with The Burrower.

Purple

Arrival

Purple team to doors. The train continues on the tracks and soon enters a tunnel itself. It's a bit of a bumpy trip, this train was clearly not made for warren systems but after some uneasy twists and turns they pull to a stop.

They are at a train station, not that it's easy to see because it is pitch black. But it is clear there are people around, some looking very confused at the very odd train.

Once the last of those going on the mission leave the train it speeds off into the darkness.

The Terran's are large and tower over most of the voidtreckers but they are friendly enough, if a little confused, once it is explained that they are here to help. They will be led over towards the collapsed section of city.

There is a lot of activity. People digging at rubble, others using their sheer size and strength to hold up beams. There is an array of rescue equipment and a group of official-looking Terran's holding large devices that are comparable to a tablet-computer and discussing solutions.

There is plenty to do to help, smaller rubble to clear, injured people to tend to. Worried Terran's to calm and reassure. Those brave enough can volunteer to use their smaller size to help get supplies through to those trapped and those with any scientific know how, great strength or magic can put their skills to good use.

Rest Time

Throughout the day people are rescued and other parts of the tunnels stabilised. There is more work to be done but the Terran's seem to be working in shifts and they will encourage their surprise allies to rest as well. They will offer to host them.

They live in large groups and will happily invite the voidtreckers into their homes. They will be curious about the voidtreckers but will also answer questions. Telling them about the strange storm and the collapse of the tunnels. They are urged to sleep early and the next day it will be back to work.

Kitty Pryde | Purple Team + Black Squad | OTA

Preparation

It was strange, but Kitty found herself feeling a bit nervous as she entered the Dressing Car to grab some supplies. Sure she had been on missions before back home, but this was on such a grander scale.

Taking a few deep breaths, she packed her bag with some of the extra climbing gear, just in case. She took her time, focusing on the meticulous task for a moment as a way of calming herself down.

'Just do the best you can,' she told herself, checking herself over to make sure she had everything. Making sure she also had the black band she had picked up, she nodded to herself, ready to go.

Arrival

Somehow, the size and appearance of the Terras wasn't as surprising as they might have been. Once it was explained that they were here to help, Kitty followed the Terras and the other Purple team members to the collapsed section.

Turning on the flashlight on her SCA, Kitty examines the blockage, running her hand over it for a moment. Then, carefully, she phases her hand through the wreckage, just to test it. Once she had determined that she could pass through with no problem, she offered to take supplies down to the people on the other side, phasing through the blockage to move easily between each side.

Unfortunately, the sheer size of the Terras made it difficult for her to phase those who were injured and needed assistance being moved on her own. She could, however, phase people through to help tend the injured on the other side of the wreckage.

Whenever she needed to take a break from phasing, she could also be found helping tend to some of those who were injured.

Perhaps surprisingly for the distracted Kitty, there's the pat of a hand on her shoulder--and the owner of it Tidus, looking at her confidently, with a reassuring smile.

"Hey! Ready to do a good job?"

A little startled, she glances up, and manages a smile at him. "Ready as I'll ever be, I guess," she responds, not quite as sure.

"You don't wanna go in stiff," he says, and then makes a rising gesture. "Here, come on, stand up and let's loosen up. You know any breathing exercises?"

Let's see if he can help!

Biting back a small smile, she left her bag on the ground as she got to her feet. "Not really. I usually just breathe while counting in my head."

Arrival

Allen was doing the best he could with helping those that need it. He was more use to having to use his abilities to fight one thing or another, but as he looked over a wreckage it made him wonder if it was possible to move it, but that thought soon left his head the moment he looked it over again and realised that if he tried it could always end up badly.

As soon as he clocked on to the fact that someone was close by tending to the other injured that he figured he could also just deal with them as well.

"Do you think we could move them to a safer area?"

Glancing up from her work a moment, she frowned a little as she considered the question.

"We'll need to," she said after a moment. "Some people need immediate attention, though, and need to have their injuries taken care of before we try moving them."

The question, then, was how to move people who were a good four or five feet taller than you.

"I am not at all useful in treating someone. Do we actually have anyone we know on the train on this mission who can?" He paused to think about it.

"The thing I could possibly do is move rubble."

She frowned as she thought a moment herself. "I'm not entirely sure." While she knew a few people on the Purple Team, there were a lot more who she didn't know, so she wasn't sure who might have more medical knowledge.

"That's still important. There's a lot that could be moved, as long as everyone's being careful." They had to make sure not to cause another cave-in. "They're also building support to keep anything from collapsing further." In other words, there was certainly plenty to do.

Arrival

It doesn't take Danny long to volunteer for supply carrying duty.

And so it is that he runs into Kitty while walking out of a pile of rubble carrying a crate almost larger than he was over his head. (It wasn't nearly as impressive as it looked. He had just transferred his own weightlessness to the box.)

She catches Danny just as she's about to head back through to grab more supplies. There isn't time to stop, but as he passes through her she isn't sure if that was thanks to his power or hers.

"Whoa...! Sorry about that."

"Okay, that felt kind of weird." But he was grinning as he says that."It kind of tickled. Hey, do you know where the supplies are supposed to go?"

She can't help a little giggle at that. Even though she hadn't felt anything, she'd never phased through someone who could also phase before. "I bet. We actually need a few more supplies on the other side. We found a few more injured Terrans."

Looking at what he's holding, she asks, "Do you want me to take some?"

Arrival

Duo, covered as he was in dust, streaked with dirt and more than a few scratches, approached Kitty with rueful grin.

"So... I hear you can get people in and out of that rubble without gettin black lung?" He'd been shimming his way manually down the tight little openings to get to the survivors up until now.

She glanced up from the next set of supplies she was bringing down with her, and couldn't help a slight smile at the state of his appearance.

"More or less," she replied. She hated how she couldn't transport those who were injured themselves, due to their weakened state and complications, but bringing people down to help and retrieve them was easy.

"Need a hand?" He offered. Duo wasn't entirely sure what he could do, now he was stood there in front of her, but the offer was made with a genuine smile. He was ready and willing to help.

"Maybe we could work together to get people out?"

"No one can ask us to do any more than that," Wei Wuxian said with a grin. "This your first mission too?"

He was wearing his normal robes, the blue jumpsuit hidden beneath them. If one didn't know any better, you'd think he wasn't carrying anything at all.

"Well, sort of," she admitted. "It's my first time on a mission on the train. I used to do similar kind of stuff back home, though."

"Where is 'back home'?" Wei Wuxian asked. He was pretty sure she wasn't from his world.

"Good that you at least have some relevant experience."

Inigo will make sure to find a moment where Kitty seems to be inbetween things to bother harass talk to her. Just because he really doesn't want to be distracting her from helping someone who's injured, and it's not like he doesn't have enough to do himself in the meantime.

But the moment he finds her standing there by herself, he's quickly jogging over to her. He looks.. fairly energetic, considering how hard everyone is working around here. It's like he hasn't even broken a sweat yet. Instead he just gives her a big grin.

(In this particular case he may be overcompensating a bit for their last conversation.. Look, he's clearly Okay! He's Fine! It's Fine!)

"Kitty! You didn't tell me you were the one with that power!" Don't think he didn't see you phasing over there earlier!

She had just been pausing a moment to catch her breath when she hears him calling her, and she watches him heading towards her with a critical eye. She certainly hasn't forgotten their last conversation, and she had assured Tidus that she'd keep an eye on him

Still, she can't help the small grin on her face as she responds, "You never asked."

He lets out a breath - it almost sounds like an awkward laugh - before pulling a hand through his hair. It's slightly dirty from all the work he's been doing trying to move rubble.

"You've got me there." Since he did just.. assume she was talking about someone else the first time they talked rather than asking more about it.. "That truly is a useful power to have at a moment like this though. You aren't tiring yourself out using it, are you?"

"Kitty!" Glorfindel called her over to where he was standing with a couple of Terrans.

He indicated the map they were holding, one of their 3D sandboxes. "Can you show us the easiest path to that group you were just helping? IM curious about this stalagmite here, is it still standing or has it collapsed to the left or right?" It could make a difference in the speed and ease of the retrieval.

She quickly headed over at the sound of her name, studying to the map that he held. Then she glanced at the wreckage in front of them. "Hang on," she said, and phased through the rubble.

A few moments later she returned. "That stalagmite is mostly still standing, though some of the top is broken off," she reported. "It looks like some of the falling debris broke it off, and all of that is obscuring this section here." She indicated the portion on the map. "The quickest way through is down here," she moved her finger to show where she meant, "but it also needs to be reinforced because its structure was weakened a bit."

Glorfindel grinned at her. "You are very helpful. I am sorry you ended up away from your friends and family, but I am so glad you are here!"

He turned to the Terrans who had been listening and were already putting plans in motion. "Right."

He looked at Kitty. "Want to scout out some more areas?"
