Deep Dweller: Start

After the dreams some of the voidtreckers report on day Four of Grasshopper those that have been on the train for a little while will be expecting what comes the next day. Their SCA's glow with the colour of the void and a holographic image will appear.

Preparations and Arrival

As promised the dressing carriage is opened for optional extras. There are flight suits, similar to those they wore into space but without the helmets. There are instead hard hats and some basic climbing gear as well as bags to put supplies in. There are even a few red tents if any of those planning on tackling red's mission want to grab one, they hold six people in two inner compartments and are relatively easy to put up and take down.

They have a few hours of preparation before the announcement comes. Soon approaching system #789327772. Planet Terra. Drop order: Orange, Red, Blue, Purple. Orange to doors. Leaving the void in ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one. A sharp jerk, a judder and the view from the window changes from the void to dark cloudy skies and very red sand.

They land smoothly, and indeed it seems they have landed on train tracks. A few moments later they pull up outside a huge metal and glass building.

Orange Team

Arrival

Jumping down from the train they will find themselves outside large metal gates. Noticable is the spotlights that shine even in the day time, reflecting oddly off the red sand. It is hot and dry outside, a slight breeze sending red dust rolling around their feet.

The gates aren't locked. There is no lock though they will notice devices that are probably security cameras. The doors are glass and inside is light and airy. They enter into a large lobby, a large circular desk in the centre and a glass walled waiting room to the side.

It is empty. No people at all. All the lights are on. Time to explore.

Exploration

Going up two floors and down five the lab is large and full of all manner of interesting things. Scientific equipment, monitoring stations measuring chemical levels in the air, temperature, water levels. Where to even start is a good question. The lights remain on, which might be annoying at night.

Red Team

Arrivals

Red team to doors. The train continues travelling along the train tracks, looking out the windows they will see endless rolling red sand. Factories rising up from the ground, dotted across the landscape. As the train gets close the air outside seems hazier, through the fumes. They may even see in the distance, strange silver floating orbs.

Eventually it pulls up at a station. Just a raised block really, but easy enough for red team to disembark.

The land stretches out around them. Train tracks criss cross the surface but apart from that there don't seem to be any boundaries. No fences, roads or sign posts.

It won't take them long to find the first orbs, strange silvery spheres and seem almost liquid, until they are not.

Night Time

It grows dark quickly after sunset here, which might take them by surprise. Taking them more by surprise however may be the scraping, scuttling noises in the dark. Skittering close. There is no light out here on the surface, they are far away from the research facility that Orange found themselves in.

If anyone manages to catch a glimpse they will see grey, long limmbed creatures. They shy away from light but anyone in the dark is likely to be attacked. They fight with claws and teeth.

When the sun rises they are gone.

Blue Team

Arrival

Blue team to doors. The train continues across the landscape, passing more orbs, just floating there silently. It stops at the entrance of a cave.

The cave slopes downwards into darkness and soon turns into small tunnels. They don't need to go far when they meet the first ground of Gry. A group of young Gry, practising with spears in an wider section of cave.

Despite being very surprised at the sudden visitors no weapons are pointed at the voidtreckers, instead they are met with curiosity. They are soon led further into the tunnels and soon come to the living areas.

The Gry lead simple lives but they are all pretty fascinated to see their visitors and will allow them to look around their home and answer any questions they have.

Night Time

Most of the Gry sleep in a large communal sleeping area and the Voidtreckers are welcome to join them, though the Gry won't be insulted if they choose to seek out a more private area.

If the Voidtreckers awake in fear in the night, after strange dreams they will find they are not alone. Many of the Gry have awoken too and will reassure the Voidtreckers, tell them it is an honour to communicate with The Burrower.

Purple

Arrival

Purple team to doors. The train continues on the tracks and soon enters a tunnel itself. It's a bit of a bumpy trip, this train was clearly not made for warren systems but after some uneasy twists and turns they pull to a stop.

They are at a train station, not that it's easy to see because it is pitch black. But it is clear there are people around, some looking very confused at the very odd train.

Once the last of those going on the mission leave the train it speeds off into the darkness.

The Terran's are large and tower over most of the voidtreckers but they are friendly enough, if a little confused, once it is explained that they are here to help. They will be led over towards the collapsed section of city.

There is a lot of activity. People digging at rubble, others using their sheer size and strength to hold up beams. There is an array of rescue equipment and a group of official-looking Terran's holding large devices that are comparable to a tablet-computer and discussing solutions.

There is plenty to do to help, smaller rubble to clear, injured people to tend to. Worried Terran's to calm and reassure. Those brave enough can volunteer to use their smaller size to help get supplies through to those trapped and those with any scientific know how, great strength or magic can put their skills to good use.

Rest Time

Throughout the day people are rescued and other parts of the tunnels stabilised. There is more work to be done but the Terran's seem to be working in shifts and they will encourage their surprise allies to rest as well. They will offer to host them.

They live in large groups and will happily invite the voidtreckers into their homes. They will be curious about the voidtreckers but will also answer questions. Telling them about the strange storm and the collapse of the tunnels. They are urged to sleep early and the next day it will be back to work.

Xue Yang || Red Team || OTA

Departure

Xue Yang hangs back as most of red team disembarks. The fact that he is even allowed on this mission surprises him. But he has spent his time in solitary, mostly meditating, and so his punishment is apparently satisfied. Although physically fine his mental state is one still to be questioned. He stares at the open door, wondering if the others would even notice if he was simply left behind.

Orbs

Once he has been basically physically pushed out of the train and onto the landing, he found himself with the rest of the team by the orbs. He is fascinated by the strange material it seems to be made out of, pressing his hand into it.

"Any ideas on how exactly to get rid of something like this?"

Dark

Xue Yang has no weapon and no physical way of attacking these creatures. And so he hangs back, watching them as if attempting to figure out exactly how the best way to defeat them might be. Offering suggestions to any team member that gets close enough to hear him but mostly he just hangs back to keep out of the way. He can't exactly fight back against something with teeth and claws.

"Stage fright?"

Lightning has, grudgingly, thrown on one of the suits, covered by a wool shawl, and she's already looking like she regrets it as the hot, dusty air fills the train. She taps him on the shoulder, in case he doesn't realise it's him she's addressing, and then jerks her chin towards the doors. "You're with me... unless you've made other plans."

It wasn't like she'd avoided him after he'd woken up, but honestly, she'd just not seen the point in approaching him beyond an acknowledgement now and then as she moved around Medical. Probably should've, now she thinks about it, but. Too late now. She raises an eyebrow in challenge, and then hops down onto the Terran soil.

Roland Crane | Purple + Black Squad | OTA

< 1 - Prep & Arrival. >
His plans of sleeping early and waking up on time were thwarted by thoughts that refused to calm. Roland stayed up instead, getting at most forty winks before he received the holographic announcement. For his first mission, he decidedly knew he had to stick to his team. So without missing a beat, he moves without delay, taking only what he needed from his own supplies, adjusting his Arms Band, and securing the black wristband newly weaved by Kumoko in the event the Black Squad had to jump in for backup. He also makes sure his earbuds are secured in place, connected to the SCA. Would signals even travel that far down...?

"Let's hope this stuff works in an underground city..." He mutters to himself, referring to the teleportation magic and to the wireless tech, as his long strides take him immediately to the dressing carriage. He reaches for the belays, the climbing gear, and the hard hats. But there was too much for one person, he couldn't bring everything he thought was needed. He clicks his tongue against his teeth.

"Looks like it's really teamwork or bust."



< 2 - Purple Arrival >
Roland steps off the train and his senses are jolted without warning. As he watches the Voidtrecker speed off into god knows where, his neck turns and scans the absolute darkness surrounding them. He squints, trying to make out shapes and figures as they approach, though he is taken momentarily aback at the sheer size of the Terrans coming forward.

He doesn't not make a move yet, but he does steel himself for the work ahead. Not only will they have to adjust to a completely foreign, potentially claustrophobic environment, they'll need to figure out how to save trapped civilians without disturbing an alien system of tunnels under the earth. He crosses his arms against his chest.

To whoever can hear him, he simply says: "We need to gather information." before trailing off. Follow him or not, but know only this. Roland has never feared the dark. His only fear is failing the mission.

Here's Tidus in the dressing carriage, a bag hanging off his shoulder not one of those provided. He hasn't changed out of his standard train clothes yet, and it's early into arrival in the car. It seems he's focusing on something else, maybe.

Preparations -- OTA:

In the dressing car, Curufin gets into his flight suit, or whatever it is, pulls on a hard hat, stuffs his climbing gear into a bag and slings it over his shoulder. There's going to be a lot of stuff slung over his shoulders, including his tool kit and his goblin sword. Drop order is announced, and he grabs onto a handhold.

"Looks like Orange Team is first off the train this time! Well, I can hardly wait." He's laughing.


Arrival:

After the train shudders and lurches, as usual, it drops out of the Void and onto the planet. Curufin runs to the doors and jumps off the train with Team Orange. It seems they have come in on a railroad track, and now they are pulled up in front of a metal and glass building. Sky full of dark clouds, hot breeze, red sand, dust, bright lights. Big metal gates and security cameras.

"Modern," he remarks.


Exploration:

He shoves the gates open and walks through, looking carefully at everything in sight. Then he goes into the building, pushing open the glass doors and entering the big lobby. He goes to the circular desk and knocks on it with his knuckles.

"Anybody home? Got a room for twenty?" As though this were a hotel.

And then it is time to search the building. They don't find any people, but eventually they find the lab. Curufin wanders around, poking at the equipment, peering at the readouts to see what the sensors are measuring.

"Looks like the usual? Atmospheric data? Anybody got any ideas as to where the scientists are? Maybe we should look in the closets and see if they're hiding from us. After all, do they know who we are? Maybe they think we're the bad guys."

Exploration

Venus had been following, her eyes jotting around at the place they had come to. With it being so empty and the lack of people made it a little uneasy for her, but never the less they had a mission and as venus she was going to suck it up and get down to business.

"That's if there is actually anyone around. For all we know something could have happened and there is no one. So it's best to be a bit on guard,"

Dyme | Orange Team | OTA

a. Preparations

Well, these clothes were better than wetsuits or tunics, but he was really wary about all of that climbing gear. "I really hope we don't need all of that stuff." He couldn't imagine what they'd been to climb in a science building. But he wished the other teams luck, the ones who really would have to climb around.

b. Arrival

The fact everything was quiet after they stepped off the train didn't do anything to put him at ease. If anything, it actually made him feel more on edge. "I'm totally getting horror movie vibes here," he muttered, cautiously approaching the building. "Like, real They Came From Hallaori shit here." Or maybe some kind of ghost movie, considering he didn't see anyone at all.

c. Exploration

He'd been wandering around for a good twenty minutes so far and had yet to find anything that was actually helpful. Then again, he had no idea what he was looking at most of the time. "Does all this science stuff make sense to anyone?" he asked, poking briefly at some lab equipment.

Exploration

"no. I mean if my friend had been around I'd have a better understanding, but... they didn't arrive on the train yet." Venus said sighing slightly. Mercury would have been so useful in this area she is sure of it.

But it just meant that she had to try her best to make sense of it herself. "Like I know things like you shoudln't mix certain chemicals together and things like that, but I don't think that works with this mission."

Gladiolus Amicitia | Blue Team - OTA

Mission Prep: Gladio was eyeing the tents. He kind of wanted to grab one. Yes, he knew that they would just have to be given back at the end of the mission, but...

He'd already stuffed himself into one of the flight suits, despite the bad memories that conjured. He had a bag stuffed full of anything and everything he could get his hands on, just in case...

"Space, the ocean, underground..." He sighed as he zipped up his bag. "I'd kill for a nice, lush planet with... bunnies or something." Nothing threatening. Just bunnies.


Arrival: He was waiting at the door, leaning against the wall beside it, his pack on his shoulder, waiting for the train to stop. Once it did he hopped out and winced and lifted a hand to cover his eyes as he peered up at the sky.

"Right..." Of course it would be a near dead world. He sighed and headed toward the cave entrance... only to find the caves not exactly built with him in mind. He had to bend a little to fit, canting his head to the side. He was going to ache once this was all over.


Night time: Come nightfall, while most everyone else sleeps, Gladio would remain awake.

He would doze, of course, but that first night would see him awake for most of it, keeping his eyes open for anything suspicious. And, should anyone wake, he would be there to reassure them with gentle words and reassurances that everything is alright.

Gladio is on guard.

Night Time

Yugi figured he might as well at least try and help out a little more and one of the things he decided to do was stay awake as best as he can at night.

So guard duty it is. As he walked he quietly looked around for any signs of familiar faces that maybe he could stick with for a time and soon that looking worked.

Sleepy Ash (Maru) - Blue Team - OTA

Mission Prep: "Will I need to be climbing rocks?" Maru wondered, looking at the clips in his hand from the rock climbing gear that had been with the jumpsuits.

Personally he didn't think he'd need it so much. He could jump pretty high when he wanted to. But maybe they'd be needed for someone else? He sighed to himself. It was so bothersome thinking about other people, he didn't know how others did it without giving themselves headaches or anxiety attacks all the time.

... Still. He shoved a few things in a pack and held it on his lap. He sat on a bench, legs crossed, just waiting.

And no, he hadn't put on one of the jumpsuits. He had on his own jacket, hood up, black fluffy hem looking like cat ears atop his head.


Arrival: Maru had been promised underground. No sun.

So of course he just steps off of the train without thinking. He hops down and lands with a little puff of dust... than soon turns into a bigger puff of dark smoke as he shifts from human into a kitty in a heartbeat.

The small, black cat would flop onto the ground, looking for all the world like he's sulking.

The sun... is not kind to vampires.


Night time: Once they were underground, Maru had been able to return to his human form. He was able to walk along the tunnels just fine for the most part, though he had to hide a snicker when a couple of the taller ones bumped their heads...

Generally he stayed away from most of the interactions. And when the strange creatures they were supposed to be helping turned in for the night, everyone else did as well.

Maru could see well enough in the dark. Perks of being a vampire he supposed.

He sat on a rock for most of the night, near the opening of the cave, just watching...

Arrival

Yugi stared for a moment or two. They had just gotten off the train and then there was a puff of smoke which caused the young ma n to wonder just what happened?

When he saw the cat it was enough to give him paused and wonder just who it was, or more importantly who the cat actually belonged to.

So for the time being he moved to kneel down. "Do you need help?"

Gerome - Purple Team - OTA

Mission Prep: There were not many times in Gerome's life where he was uncertain of his actions. Those times stood out as very annoying points in his life. Now was one of those points. He wasn't entirely certain what it was he was meant to be doing, so he just followed.

From observing he realised that he should be changing from one set of strange clothes into another. And given the colour he wore he assumed that meant he would need a corresponding colour. So he grabbed a jumpsuit and took it to a changing room to do just that.

When he left, many minutes later, having had some issue working out just what in the world he was supposed do with the jumpsuit, he was dressed. His mask was, of course, still in place.

"... And now what?"


Arrival: 1: The jolting and jostling was not something that eased the tension in Gerome's stomach. Nerves. Amazing. When was the last time he had been nervous of battle? Not having Minerva or a weapon bothered him greatly.

Eventually the train ceased it's rocking and came to a stop. And Gerome stepped out into darkness. And in that darkness he gave a soft, muttered curse as one leg buckled and he went down to a knee, stumbling on a rock he hadn't seen.

2: Gerome was in no ways a healer. He was a fighter.

So why then, was he moving rocks from one place to another?

There was dust in his hair and on his clothes. His shoulders ached, but he continued to assist with the removal of the rubble from the cave in.

Did he understand why? Not in the slightest. But it was making him feel useful.


Rest time: When the work for the day was done, Gerome was exhausted. They were offered places to rest and he was grateful to accept.

He had energy enough to shuck off his boots and his mask before he dropped down onto his back onto one of large beds they had been offered. The beds were built for strange creatures far larger than himself.

"... This is... not what I expected." He muttered into the darkness.

Glorfindel smiled at him, in a matching jump suit. "Help me gather these ropes and climbing equipment? We are rescuing people trapped underground, it may come in handy.

Glorfindel Purple OTA

Departure:

Glorfindel has fastened his hair back in his gold and gem hair armor, with the SCA earbuds in, before he even got to the Dressing Car.

After changing into one of the flight suits, he starts organizing the equipment he felt his team should bring along, based on the Vision he'd had. Plus it would be helpful for rescue work. He is willing to help if anyone has questions.

He is on hand to see his friends off at each stop, however. "Be safe. Call on the SCA if you need me." He is wearing the Black Squad band around his free wrist.


Purple Mission:
Anyone with Glorfindel, as usual, will have enough light to see with. After some practice on Drizzt, he's gotten pretty good at getting it just right to not hurt the eyes of the Terrans.

He will coordinate with the locals, then help pinpoint the exact location of the living for anyone with powers to do the actual retrieval. If something needs to be moved with muscle, he is right there as well! Elves are stronger than they look.

Rest time:

Purple Mission

Within the tunnels, Della makes a high-pitched whistling sound to try and get Glorfindel's attention.

"Hey, Glor! Mind shining your light this way? I think I can squeeze in here, but I need another set of eyes."

A. Departure:

Alice was pulling at her fingers. She had been granted permission to leave the medical car, and then the announcement came on. Would she be any help or useless again?

She was shaking and closed her eyes, pressing her clasped hands to her lips.

"I can be brave," she whispered to herself. "I can be brave..." she took a deep breath and gazed out the windows. "I don't feel very brave though," she admitted, biting her knuckle. What if she failed to help again?

B. Exploration

Alice was becoming ridiculously grateful for the older Alice's umbrella to block out the sun, but once inside, she closed it and looked around.

"Curiouser and curiouser! It's so bright!" she lightly dusted off her dress and legs, the red dust on her hands. She looked at the dust on her hand. "We should find something to put what we find into bags or jars!" she said to anyone who would listen. Alice didn't hesitate to get behind the desk in the lobby her tiny hands immediately the only thing being seen as she held up a lunch box.

"Look what I found!" she then popped up from behind and opened it up, all that was inside was an empty thermos, napkins, utensils, and a note that said "I love you" on the inside of the lid. "We can put things we find into this."

Kaiba is in a very bad mood, but he's trying his best not to show it. Especially when children are present. He leans down a little and nods approvingly.

"Good. Keep the utensils, they might be useful unexpectedly later."

[Being the first mission, Katsuya is looking fairly excited. For the moment, Kaseri is at his side- he's convinced her to temporarily sit in the ball when they first disembark however. Just In Case.

Hopefully nothing happens while she's in the ball. Anyway.

The blond grins, pulling up a harness to hold while the ponyta noses a few of the other tools.] We got rock climbin' stuff!

[Exciting! Excit-] Nyh? What's th- ...A flight suit?

[Oddly, there's nothing to Say it's a flight suit, and no one said a single thing in the time he made that self correction.] Th' hell we gonna need flight suits for....

[Concern is increasing.] .................Hmmmmmm. [HMMMMMM.]

Hohhhh...so tha's where we're goin' huh..? [It's really cool, at least that's how he thinks of it. The cave isn't very dark. It's very simple as well, just stone, and dirt.

He thinks of the dream he had. It's not pitch dark right now, he'll be fine. He'll be more than fine. Katsuya breathes, and before they enter the cave he lets Kaseri out- scooping her up and taking a deeper breath as they walk. Nothing is going to tackle him. Yet.

...YET.

(He swears he hears screams, and while he knows that's not got anything to do with the vision, or with where they are, he can't shake the feeling he always has when he dreams of That place)

There's a pair of kids there.]

Hohhh! Cool spears!

[For the rest of the first day as they're shown around, he's being an awful lot louder or quieter about things depending on what they're being shown. Sometimes the engagement seems forced. He needs the distraction. Needs it, he can't think about anything else. At other points it doesn't work however, and he lets himself drift to the back of the group holding Kaseri as he breathes.

It's nothing like the tunnels that other him went down into one last time before never waking up, but go figure this is how he finds out it's close enough.] Hfff....hfff...

[Night Night- Sleep...Tight..?]

[He is very, very used to dreams. Sometimes they're simple. Sometimes they're not. These, he finds, are even simpler than he expected. He walks in a tunnel and it grows darker and darker. Too dark- impossibly dark, he remembers the conversation with Honda in the vents-

You c'n see yer hand even in complete darkness right?

It's too dark. Too dark- he can hear the sounds, hear the scuttling Things around and then-

Then it's all fire. Then the dream twists into something more unfortunately familiar, body locked in place as he sees the sneering face before him with the blade in their hands. Tell me my future, they ask, and he finds his lips moving. He can't hear his own words, but they aren't the words this man wanted to hear, and so-]

Khhh-OOOOUHHHHA-! Kh! Hah..!

[Katsuya wakes, and he wakes choking. He rolls over in his sleeping bag and Kaseri comes over immediately. And that's weird, he thinks idly, that's weird that she wasn't here- it looks like she was sitting near one of the Gry instead?

Hands meet the pony's dully shining mane and almost immediately he begins to calm down, holding the ponyta close.] Hahh...hahhh....s...shit...

(That first part of the dream was so strange though...)] Nhhyyyy....

Wh..? [Lightening the hold on Kaseri, Katsuya watches in confusion as she seems to consider trotting to someone else again.] What, someone else needs..?

Arrival

[Yugi was starting to wonder why they always had to be under something. Last time was underwater, which he avoided and now underground. The only exception had been when they were in space. So with Yugi wearing an Orange flight suit which really in his mind made him stand out a little bit more than the others and his duel disk had made sure to at least stick close to his friend.

Looking over now and again and he could easily tell that something was up.]

Hey... Just breathe slowly, okay. [it was something he figured he understood, a fear and how it can affect you.]

It will be okay. I'm here, even if that isn't the most reassuring thing.

47 / Tobias Rieper | Red Team | OTA

I. Prep and Arrival

Another mission, another hour of preparation. 47 did the usual and grabbed whatever gear the train saw fit to equip them with. In his cabin he grabbed his own gear--always his own Black Lily pistol with extra ammo stuffed in its holster and hidden beneath a jacket, and for this he decided to bring the blaster rifle as well as a couple knives, and some other gear hidden various places in his clothing and some inside the backpack given for their use.

Then it was simply time to wait. He usually went to an open carriage with an exit to wait, easier to disembark from one of the larger spaces.

The disembark was simple and as usual 47 stepped out further than the rest to get a good look around at their surroundings. He didn't stop anyone from following him but he clearly didn't need anyone near him if no one set their sights on his movements.

II. Orbs

Scientific research wasn't really 47's forte. Unless given instruction and guidance on what he was looking for exactly he typically only did this in the field by grabbing someone else's work and running with it (literally or figuratively depending on the job). He was good with his hands though and anyone who wanted to ask for him to help with...whatever, he was good at that. He knew how to use most equipment even if he didn't usually do this sort of thing. Lifetime of blending into any environment but not actually doing the jobs he pretended to do.

However, he's a little hesitant to touch the orbs for various reasons. To him it was a hazard not worth taking, especially since his true field of operation (especially since coming onto the train) was combat and keeping away from potentially hazardous, poisonous, or otherwise dangerous material seemed like a no-brainer to him. He needed to be able to fight when the chance came and if there were effects from those silvery orbs he wanted nothing to do with them. The team needed at least one or two capable fighters clear headed and unaltered by foreign substances.

III. Night Time

Night fell much more quickly here than it did on Earth and 47 found that meant half of them still didn't have tents set up before dark set. He barely managed it himself once his instincts buzzed at him that dark was quickly setting and he needed to hurry. As he began to move towards another team member to help them finish setting up their own tent 47 paused.

He heard something in the dark. Instead of using his flashlight to pinpoint the thing making the noise 47 closed his eyes and listened. He could hear the sounds of his teammates shuffling around with their gear, talking amongst themselves, and stumbling about in the dark. But he also heard something else out there in the dark.

"Listen." He told the others in a calm voice. He didn't yell but his voice carried an urgency that made it travel easily through most of the camp. "There's something out there."

He brought out his rifle even as he finished his sentence, prepared to fight whatever predator was out there. How did he know it was a predator? It took one to know one.

Night Time

Rapunzel had stopped what she was doing, pausing for a moment. They had said they heard something so Rapunzel herself was soon trying her best to see if she could hear anything herself.

She was a little nervous, but she knew the people in this team knew what they were doing and Rapunzel had the frying pan she grabbed from the kitchen.

"What do you think is out there? Something bad? Do you think a light might help?"

Yugi Mutou | Blue Team

Yugi was admittedly a little nervous. Not just because he honestly didn't know what to expect going to a mission with a different team, but because Orange Team was going off first and Yugi knew Kaiba was going to expect him to follow and... that was going to be awkward.

But Yugi soon got changed into his team colors as always since even though he wasn't going on the Orange mission, he was still on the Orange Team and to help break the tension he figured to at least joke about it.

"Do you think we could stand out a little bit more?"

Arrival
When they arrived, Yugi found himself occasionally fidgeting with his duel disk which he was keeping on his arm, mostly to check that everything was still there and nothing was missing.

When he wasn't he was mostly looking around out of curiosity more than anything at where they were and just how the people lived.

Night
Yugi had tried to sleep a couple times only to wake up with a dream... or was it a nightmare? He didn't know. Whatever it was he didn't plan on going back to sleep anytime soon and instead decided to stay awake and quietly looking through his deck, making sure cards were set in a certain order since well... he wasn't planning on dueling, so he needed the monsters to at least be on top.

Kaiba is dressed and ready to go remarkably quickly, face grim, but as the rest of the orange group prepares to disembark...Yugi doesn't join him. He frowns and heads further in.

Arrival (train + purple)
It occurs to the spider very quickly that a supremely easy way of getting teleport locations is... just... to stay on the train until the end?

Sure, it means she doesn't get to jump off with the rest of Orange, and if it turns out magic doesn't work or whatever, she's gonna be stuck with Purple doing whatever it is Purple do. But it gives her a good look at the arrival sites for each team, enough that she's pretty sure she can teleport to each one, and it lets her wave each person wearing a black band off like an overly excited mother seeing her kids off to camp.

When Purple arrive, she has so many regrets. Sure, she can see perfectly, and there's so much industry and civilisation that it looks nothing like Great Elroe, but...

Blurgh. She hangs around for a little bit, but... these big aliens sure are looking at her weird. Do they eat insects? She bets they do. Oh wow, that one is eating an insect right now.

Teleport site and motivation to leave obtained, she types into her tablet, "Teleporting to surface laboratory in ten seconds. All aboard! Ten... nine..." and starts to cast a large-scale teleport rune. It glows in the pitch darkness of the station.

Orange Exploration
The light... it blinds usss...

Just kidding! She doesn't care about light at all. Excited, she skitters down as far as she can go. Time to speed-run this huge laboratory!! Except... ah, someone's already down there. Well, that's what she gets for being late. She waves to anyone on B5, and then darts back up to begin exploring B4. Mostly by cutting open doors and poking everything she sees.

At least fifty percent of her attention is on the comms, and on monitoring the tugs and twists of the magical threads linking her to the members of Black Squad. She really hopes this idea works, huh?

Arrival (Before Blue Dropoff)

At some point while they're heading down, Nita makes her way over to where Charlotte's waiting for people to leave.

"Remember what I said about lending you power, okay? I can get myself places, but I'd hate to leave you in the lurch because of that."

She glances at the nearby tablet.

"And if you need to give that any upgrades while we're down here, my sister should be getting off at Orange."

There's just a bit of a scowl as Nita says those words, but a moment later and the look is gone. Strange!

Kitty Pryde | Purple Team + Black Squad | OTA

Preparation

It was strange, but Kitty found herself feeling a bit nervous as she entered the Dressing Car to grab some supplies. Sure she had been on missions before back home, but this was on such a grander scale.

Taking a few deep breaths, she packed her bag with some of the extra climbing gear, just in case. She took her time, focusing on the meticulous task for a moment as a way of calming herself down.

'Just do the best you can,' she told herself, checking herself over to make sure she had everything. Making sure she also had the black band she had picked up, she nodded to herself, ready to go.

Arrival

Somehow, the size and appearance of the Terras wasn't as surprising as they might have been. Once it was explained that they were here to help, Kitty followed the Terras and the other Purple team members to the collapsed section.

Turning on the flashlight on her SCA, Kitty examines the blockage, running her hand over it for a moment. Then, carefully, she phases her hand through the wreckage, just to test it. Once she had determined that she could pass through with no problem, she offered to take supplies down to the people on the other side, phasing through the blockage to move easily between each side.

Unfortunately, the sheer size of the Terras made it difficult for her to phase those who were injured and needed assistance being moved on her own. She could, however, phase people through to help tend the injured on the other side of the wreckage.

Whenever she needed to take a break from phasing, she could also be found helping tend to some of those who were injured.

Perhaps surprisingly for the distracted Kitty, there's the pat of a hand on her shoulder--and the owner of it Tidus, looking at her confidently, with a reassuring smile.

Prep

1. Hand-Outs Reading the mission objectives and seeing what needed to be done, Tidus first grabbed some of the healing supplies that'd been gathered up to that point before making his way to the dressing car.

"Hey, anyone wanna take a heal? Anyone going with Purple, you can take some for the civilians!"

2. Dressing But he should actually look at seeing what there is to change into, and... what's with the weird suits? Maybe they're good for going underground in, but Tidus is Doubtful about himself. He's sticking above ground, right?

"You think Red Team's got to care about these?" he says out loud (the guy in a purple hoodie), holding up one of the suits.

Departure/Arrival

But as for Tidus, he's sticking with Red Team, jumping out onto the platform to the dusty world awaiting them. And he coughs (actually, he'd been coughing when the doors of the train first opened) to inhale that thick air.

"Ugh, no wonder everyone's sticking underground... I guess I'm getting my sun."

The spheres

1. To poke And of course, it doesn't take them long to find the stars of their mission objectives: the spheres. Tidus is standing, staring at them, looking around to see if anyone's poked at any, and...

He's got a complex look on his face like he wants to, and even a hand up by his chest liiike maybe he will...poke the thing.
Do you dare him.

2. Poked You can poke the spheres without consequence.

Which is quickly found out, but now there's the more important question of figuring out what they are, and what they've got to do with anything.

"What does anyone think about them? ...should we try attacking one?"

Because that's always a smart idea.

"I mean... they are very...spherey and they don't seem to attack or anything when poked." She paused for a moment, arms crossed as Pascal seemed to be thinking to before he makes some noise with Rapunzel shaking her head.

"Attacking might be a good idea, but if we did that we'd need to be careful. Any ideas?"

They're the first off. His boyfriend has just told him they're splitting up this mission, so naturally he's a little upset. This tends to show mostly through his face permanently looking like he's just accidentally bitten into a lemon.

He takes it all: the helmet, the harness, and suits up for whatever they might find outside...though admittedly he's never gone climbing before, and needs to discreetly watch someone else to figure out how. Sorry about that.

"Here we go again."

The first thing he does is begin to mentally map the main areas of each of the seven floors. He walks slowly, ears alert for any potential issues, and makes note of any areas of interest he'll be inspecting later. With his general knowledge of abandoned labs in horror movies, he tends to jump at the slightest sound, whirling around and raising his fists.

"Don't be so loud," he'll complain, before immediately going back to attempting to read some monitor and comparing his notes from the last one.

How is he supposed to sleep like this? He's tucked into some corner to change into his white and orange pajamas and burrow as deeply into his sleeping bag as he can. But it's so bright. He groans in frustration, turning over onto his stomach and flopping like an angry beached fish. Doesn't really help.

"Someone looks a little grumpy." For the moment Minako knew she was meant to at least dress up the part, so she had gotten changed into the clothing the train had provided and planned on changing into Venus a little later.

But for now she knew to just act like she normally would.

"Did something bad happen already?"

It only takes Mami a few minutes to decide: she'll keep watching over her friends. She disembarks, taking a moment to adjust the small silver ring on her finger: the hum of power beneath the surface is easily within her grasp this time, and that reassures her. She hops off fearlessly (at least apparently so), curtsying to their hosts and looking around as polite as can be.

"Wow. Thank you so much. Here, I'll be glad to help."

She works at various chores all day, trying to charm their hosts. And at night she gathers with the Gry for sleep and the nightmares return. It's not something familiar to her, just the world falling from under, the abyss swallowing her up...but she awakens with a tiny yelp. And whimpers, the dream slipping away from memory.

One of their hosts murmurs to her in a low voice.

"Communing with...the Burrower? Does that mean you have something to fear?"

She's kneeling on top of her sleeping bag now, twisting the ring on her finger once more. Her ears listen for unexpected sounds. It's a scattershot of sounds---some sitting up in worry like her, awaking with a start, others snoozing on unaware. This isn't good news.

Nita's hunched up in her sleeping bag, hugging her knees to her chest - but she's alert, and listening. Wanting to help.

Her dream had been of darkness, followed by a memory: that time when she'd been captured by AM, with the bugs.

Reluctantly letting go of her knees, she whispers the words to one of her most-used spells, bringing into existence a gentler light than that of the SCAs.

"What if we tried sending something back?"

I. Arrival

Reno read the small mission briefs for the upcoming mission and almost immediately decided he wasn't going to follow the (non-existent) rules this time. Purple Team's job sounded a little too familiar for comfort and he had a feeling most of the action would be somewhere else this time. So instead of waiting for Purple Team to disembark, he hopped off the train when Red Team did. If these people were mostly hard-ass action and adventure types Reno honestly wasn't sure why the train hadn't put him with them in the first place. That sort of thing was right up his alley. It was such a Turk thing to be covered in blood and loving it.

Unless someone looked at his SCA (or already knew him) it wasn't immediately obvious he was team hopping anyway as he had on his Turk suit instead of regulation gear or team clothing. He did, however, have a set of gear and useful stuff in a bag that he lugged around with ease. This was definitely something he was used to doing from the looks of it.

II. Orbs

The Turk was cautious around the first silver orb the team came across for all of about two minutes before that caution was thrown to the wind. It wasn't attacking them and it didn't appear to have any reactions to their being close to it, so eventually he said "to hell with it" and poked it. Thankfully, he had enough tact to use his baton first. He didn't want to lose it but he also preferred to keep all his digits intact more.

It had the strangest reaction to being touched and soon Reno was thoroughly fascinated with poking the orb repeatedly, first with his baton and then his finger and finally his whole hand as he began to shove it around. It was a little like watching a child at a toy store find an amusing knickknack to entertain itself with.

Eventually, he moved on to zapping it with lightning.

III. Night Time

Reno's instincts were on edge the moment the sunlight completely disappeared with little warning. He hadn't even had time to finish setting up the tent he'd taken as part of Red Team's gear, the sun set so quickly. He continued to work on it with his SCA's flashlight feature and debated whether to add his phone to the mix but he didn't want to use up the battery on that too quick. He might not need it here--it was more a useful feature while on the train actually--but one could never be too cautious. And while he was on a mission his seriousness level went up way higher than normal. Well, internally at least; outwardly he was still as flippant and uncaring as usual.

He couldn't place the anxiety growing in him though until someone made the first attempt to warn everyone that there was something out there in the dark. Reno stilled and slowed his breathing, concentrated for a moment, and that's when he heard it, too. The noise of something skittering about out in the darkness. His first thought was a fleet of foot monster. It wasn't the first time he had heard a sound like that.

It was, however, the first time he'd encountered a monster quite like the ones the team soon found themselves fighting. They flitted about in the dark like crazy but were hard to spot as they tended to stay out of the central light of the camp Red Team had made. Small blessings for some, perhaps, but Reno was ready to finish the fight and not have those things surrounding them all damn night long.

Time to light up the area!

Reno dashed out into the night with a burst of speed, surrounded by electricity as he moved. He heard the creatures squeal and hiss in displeasure as he lit them up and caught glimpses of their ugly grey forms as they retreated away from his lightning effect. It didn't last forever though and he could feel them closing in on him as the bright light faded and left him exposed in the darkness.

He fingered his baton with a few impatient taps. He wasn't afraid of the dark. He could stand here all night, waiting for them to close on him so he could hit them with another Flashstrike.

Night

Someone hadn't been briefed on his plan.

Packaged fusion particles ripped through the air, hammering into an encroaching beast before it could quite reach Reno. Though their actual impact had little effect, the light they carried provided some utility -- and Orisa was capable of putting out an incredible volume before needing to recharge.

"Get to me! I will keep you safe!"

Here it was, again: a disconnect between one moment and the next, an abrupt change of circumstances, visual field, position- Why was he in a box?

For a moment he considered that this was yet another stage of his compilement - and then, dismissing that possibility, he realized where he really was: in a suitcase.

Sparing a thought for the utter disappointment that he'd learned nothing about where 'disappeared' passengers went, he set about freeing himself from his latest entrapment.
Pity he couldn't do the same to his robot body...

"Excuse me," he'll ask, to the next person he sees (after an apology if he's startled them), "But I am afraid I have been missing for more time than I can account for. My name is Webmind; how long have you been on this train?"

That today is a mission day quickly makes itself plain to him, and he is glad there is a mission suited to his skills.

If I have learned one alien language, I can certainly learn more! he thinks to himself, sorting through the provided equipment and digitally prodding the SCA's comm function again.

One can find this curious creature exploring most everywhere. His comm connection is always on, and he will insist on the buddy system among other safety precautions.

"Perhaps the light is a security precaution of the Terrans' own - we must check if the other labs had this setup, or if they had fewer active lights available."

[ She'd been... hoping for a more bombastic entrance, and more hooting and hollering. She pauses, then shrugs. ]

Well, I tried. Let's get a good look around!

[ She cracks her neck a bit, then begins walking around. Time to learn! ]

Purple Mission

[ Being much shorter compared to most humans, she finds she can squeeze into a lot of smaller spaces. She's happy to help rescue others, offering kind words of consolation and comfort. But after one such expedition, Della's voice can be heard. ]

Can someone give me a hand? ... Or a foot, in this case.

[ Della's metal leg has gotten stuck in the rubble! She stands aside, annoyed as she tries to balance on her one good leg. It seems her metal one popped off when she was trying to pull it free. ]

Man, I hate when this happens.

Rest

[ Sure, there are other options besides eating bugs... but Della's one of the people who doesn't mind chowing down on something with several legs. She's fully aware people are staring.]

Hey, a grasshopper has as much protein as a hamburger! I read that somewhere once...

[ Then again, time on the moon without anything to eat may have made her OK with eating anything period. She shrugs, and offers a bug leg. ]

Uta had heard her even across the cavern and it took him a minute to find her - hopefully she would forgive the wait. He stopped for a moment to 'assess the situation', but really he was grappling with the fact that a duck was asking for help. In all of the strange things he's seen, this was new (he hadn't gone on the Redwall walkabout, after all).

"Ah, yes." He moved around her and to where the leg was stuck. He took a few minutes to carefully tugging and wiggle the leg to get it out - if she was particularly observant she may notice he managed to just shift the rocks in a way he could free the leg from its predicament despite his spindly appearance. "You really wedged it in there." He gave the leg a once over to see if it looked particularly damaged, then offered it to her.

"Do you crawl through rubble often?" Her last comment was just enough to make him question it.

Undyne | Red Team | OTA

Arrivals

Undyne exits the train. Immediately, she's greeted by the immense heat of the desert. She gritted her teeth as she continued forth. She really missed having her Blazing Badge with her. She'd just have to make one from scratch once she gets the time to do so. She wouldn't give up and go back to the train, though. She was determined to see this through.

Orbs

Undyne came to a stop as she arrived at one of the orbs. She had none of her lab equipment with her. She'd have to figure out what this thing was on her own. She tried many options to determine what it was. Scooping it up, stabbing it with spears, and eye lasers were all things she attempted. Currently, she was trying to suplex it. With a loud "NGAAAAAH!", she picked it up, and suplexed it.

Nightfall

Undyne had tried her best to sleep, but the arid environment didn't permit it. The best she could do was shut off and close her eyes, and lay down.

As sounds of scraping reached her ears, Undyne shot up, her robotic eye immediately beginning to boot up. Suddenly, claws scraped across her skin.

She summoned a green spear, and hurled it it at the thing, hoping to make it enter Green Mode, and stop it in its tracks. Her robotic eye turned on fully, and immediately began shining bright, illuminating the area around her. She summoned another spear, this one blue, and pointed it at the creature.

Duo Maxwell | Purple Team - OTA

Mission Prep: Duo had opted for one of the flight suits, just in case anything happened. He didn't want to ruin any of his good clothes, especially not his leather jacket. What he DID wear over the flight suit was his cloak though. The one from the aborted mission. Dark brown, hooded and long enough to reach his ankles.

He'd braided his hair and tucked it under the cloak, but fly-away strands hung in his face as he bent to packing rope into a pack he'd grabbed. There was also a travel mug shoved deep into the pack.

Duo looked... exhausted. His movements slow. Pale and with bags under his eyes.

But if someone catches his eye or speaks to him, he'll answer with a ready smile or laughter.


Arrival 1 - Stepping off of the train into darkness was unplesent. Duo sighed, rubbed at his eyes and then lowered his hand to te floor and activated his flashlight to allow him to see what the hell was lurking in the darkness.

"... I've seen this movie. Light is my friend." He muttered to himself.

2 - While he wasn't one of the people who approached the natives to find out what was up, Duo did his best to get involved.

Being slim and experienced, he somehow ended up being one of the people to wriggle through the rubble to take supplies to those trapped.

He sat, legs crossed, covered in dust, his face streaked with dirt and drinking something he really, really hoped was water that one of the natives had given him once he'd returned from one of his supply runs.


Rest Time: Duo... didn't sleep.

He was offered a bed, a place in one of the homes of the Terrans. They were nice enough, even if they were tall as hell.

As politely as he could, Duo had to say no.

Instead he sat outside of one of the houses, he'd at least agreed to a few blankets he'd sat himself down on. And he leaned against the wall, sipping from his travel mug.

Samata paced nervously as the train grew close to their destination. She didn't like being expected to stick her neck out for these strange worlds she had never known, but she also didn't like leaving people to suffer when she could do something. And there was usually trouble wherever the train stopped.

She bit her nails while staring out the window into the void. She had a full set of spells prepared, a backpack full of whatever she could get her hands on that seemed like it might be useful, and one of the flight suits on. (A red one, although she wasn't planning to go with the red team. Red team always seemed to run into things that wanted to kill them, and she knew her talents did not lie in that situation.). Any minute now, the count down was going to begin, and then she would have things to do, to keep her mind occupied. But for the moment, there was nothing to do but wait. What would this world be like? Full of steel and space? A beautiful tropical island? A rural city?

Help a girl out with her nerves?

-Landing, Orange-

Boots on the ground. Samata hopped off the train and took a moment to look around. Sand and dust everywhere, smog overhead, no forests or cities or bodies of water in sight. Just this one facility in front of them.

"...What a dismal world. I can see we're in for a treat."

But she shouldered her pack and set off towards the front gates. Curiosity drew her on.

Orange Landing

"Thankfully, most of our time should be in the laboratory." The voice chiming in seems to be coming from an extremely tiny child - Haibara('s body) is 7 and looks it. She's clad in a blue hoodie - she wasn't going to be caught dead (or alive) in one of those flight suits.

"This really doesn't look like Earth, though. I guess everybody was telling the truth about going to different worlds, huh."

Taiki | Red

Preparation

The last mission had not been terrible, all things considered and though Taiki would never be happy about being in a situation where there might be violence or bloodshed, he was feeling a little more confident this time round.

Only slightly. He and Lord Gyousou had read through the mission brief earlier and after a little discussion, Lord Gyousou had figured they could go with red team this time. Investigating orbs. He looked at the things in the luggage room, picking up a harness and some rope. Even if they weren't going underground it might be a good thing to have.

He can also be found in the greenhouse kneeling next to a plant. The kouji had grown enough now that there were a number of seeds. He packed one, it might come in handy. After all last time they had had to light a beacon, it would have been useful then.

A shock: Disembarking

The world was strange, not like anywhere he had ever seen and the heat hit him when the doors opened. At Lord Gyousou's nod he stepped off the train onto the platform, he looked around, taking in his surroundings.

When all of a sudden his heart plunged into darkness. The light of the ouki vanished. One moment it was there, Lord Gyousou had been right behind him and a moment later it was gone. He was alone, the train doors were closing, the train was leaving and he sunk to the ground where he had been stood, for a moment just staring at nothing.

Orb poking

He follows the others numbly. He engages in conversation if spoken to but for the most part walks silently, head down.

His interest is piqued when they come to the first orb.

He looks at it with a slightly tilted head, wondering if it is safe to touch.

Night Time

He sticks near those he knows as they begin to settle for the evening. He isn't expecting the sun to set so quickly. He definitely isn't expecting the monsters.

Eyes wide he stumbles in the darkness, fear and horror gripping him as fighting starts around him.

"Taiki?"

Tidus's voice is faint, if it wouldn't already be for the state that Taiki's found himself in. He's farther along outside, idly taking in his surroundings, but waiting to see familiar faces too. One of those being Taiki, though Tidus doesn't catch him falling.

Only once he's crumbled in on himself, head hanging low.

Tidus jogs on over almost immediately, the fiddling he had been doing with his purple hoodie (did he want to keep it on in this weather? probably not) discarded to see to his friend. Calling out his approach before he's by his side, "Hey, Taiki! Did you trip? Need a hand?"

And he'll offer out a hand even, once he's there. There's no shame in tripping!

Danny Fenton | Purple Team

At the Train Station:
Danny had learned his lesson from the last few missions, and this time he transforms into his ghost form before getting off the train. And it was lucky that he did. Because the station was dark, making his dim glow all the more obvious. He quickly gathers some energy into his hand and raises it enough to cast a greenish light around the area.

"Anyone else have a light?"

Helping Out:
Danny quickly gets to work. He didn't have a lot of experience at this kind of work, but he did have some powers that were useful. He starts out shifting rubble, but quickly volunteers to carry supplies to the people who were trapped. Intangibility was useful that way. "The green doesn't help." Duo sounded very amused as he moved to stand beside Danny. He'd covered his wrist with his other hand, dimming the light of his SCA. The green light seemed to make more shadows somehow, and made those shadows seem deeper than those in normal light.
