Deep Dweller: Start

After the dreams some of the voidtreckers report on day Four of Grasshopper those that have been on the train for a little while will be expecting what comes the next day. Their SCA's glow with the colour of the void and a holographic image will appear.

Preparations and Arrival

As promised the dressing carriage is opened for optional extras. There are flight suits, similar to those they wore into space but without the helmets. There are instead hard hats and some basic climbing gear as well as bags to put supplies in. There are even a few red tents if any of those planning on tackling red's mission want to grab one, they hold six people in two inner compartments and are relatively easy to put up and take down.

They have a few hours of preparation before the announcement comes. Soon approaching system #789327772. Planet Terra. Drop order: Orange, Red, Blue, Purple. Orange to doors. Leaving the void in ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one. A sharp jerk, a judder and the view from the window changes from the void to dark cloudy skies and very red sand.

They land smoothly, and indeed it seems they have landed on train tracks. A few moments later they pull up outside a huge metal and glass building.

Orange Team

Arrival

Jumping down from the train they will find themselves outside large metal gates. Noticable is the spotlights that shine even in the day time, reflecting oddly off the red sand. It is hot and dry outside, a slight breeze sending red dust rolling around their feet.

The gates aren't locked. There is no lock though they will notice devices that are probably security cameras. The doors are glass and inside is light and airy. They enter into a large lobby, a large circular desk in the centre and a glass walled waiting room to the side.

It is empty. No people at all. All the lights are on. Time to explore.

Exploration

Going up two floors and down five the lab is large and full of all manner of interesting things. Scientific equipment, monitoring stations measuring chemical levels in the air, temperature, water levels. Where to even start is a good question. The lights remain on, which might be annoying at night.

Red Team

Arrivals

Red team to doors. The train continues travelling along the train tracks, looking out the windows they will see endless rolling red sand. Factories rising up from the ground, dotted across the landscape. As the train gets close the air outside seems hazier, through the fumes. They may even see in the distance, strange silver floating orbs.

Eventually it pulls up at a station. Just a raised block really, but easy enough for red team to disembark.

The land stretches out around them. Train tracks criss cross the surface but apart from that there don't seem to be any boundaries. No fences, roads or sign posts.

It won't take them long to find the first orbs, strange silvery spheres and seem almost liquid, until they are not.

Night Time

It grows dark quickly after sunset here, which might take them by surprise. Taking them more by surprise however may be the scraping, scuttling noises in the dark. Skittering close. There is no light out here on the surface, they are far away from the research facility that Orange found themselves in.

If anyone manages to catch a glimpse they will see grey, long limmbed creatures. They shy away from light but anyone in the dark is likely to be attacked. They fight with claws and teeth.

When the sun rises they are gone.

Blue Team

Arrival

Blue team to doors. The train continues across the landscape, passing more orbs, just floating there silently. It stops at the entrance of a cave.

The cave slopes downwards into darkness and soon turns into small tunnels. They don't need to go far when they meet the first ground of Gry. A group of young Gry, practising with spears in an wider section of cave.

Despite being very surprised at the sudden visitors no weapons are pointed at the voidtreckers, instead they are met with curiosity. They are soon led further into the tunnels and soon come to the living areas.

The Gry lead simple lives but they are all pretty fascinated to see their visitors and will allow them to look around their home and answer any questions they have.

Night Time

Most of the Gry sleep in a large communal sleeping area and the Voidtreckers are welcome to join them, though the Gry won't be insulted if they choose to seek out a more private area.

If the Voidtreckers awake in fear in the night, after strange dreams they will find they are not alone. Many of the Gry have awoken too and will reassure the Voidtreckers, tell them it is an honour to communicate with The Burrower.

Purple

Arrival

Purple team to doors. The train continues on the tracks and soon enters a tunnel itself. It's a bit of a bumpy trip, this train was clearly not made for warren systems but after some uneasy twists and turns they pull to a stop.

They are at a train station, not that it's easy to see because it is pitch black. But it is clear there are people around, some looking very confused at the very odd train.

Once the last of those going on the mission leave the train it speeds off into the darkness.

The Terran's are large and tower over most of the voidtreckers but they are friendly enough, if a little confused, once it is explained that they are here to help. They will be led over towards the collapsed section of city.

There is a lot of activity. People digging at rubble, others using their sheer size and strength to hold up beams. There is an array of rescue equipment and a group of official-looking Terran's holding large devices that are comparable to a tablet-computer and discussing solutions.

There is plenty to do to help, smaller rubble to clear, injured people to tend to. Worried Terran's to calm and reassure. Those brave enough can volunteer to use their smaller size to help get supplies through to those trapped and those with any scientific know how, great strength or magic can put their skills to good use.

Rest Time

Throughout the day people are rescued and other parts of the tunnels stabilised. There is more work to be done but the Terran's seem to be working in shifts and they will encourage their surprise allies to rest as well. They will offer to host them.

They live in large groups and will happily invite the voidtreckers into their homes. They will be curious about the voidtreckers but will also answer questions. Telling them about the strange storm and the collapse of the tunnels. They are urged to sleep early and the next day it will be back to work.

voidtreckernpcs: (gry)

someone ordered a lil gry!

[personal profile] voidtreckernpcs 2020-07-09 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[The common area is filled with Gry, some asleep, some awake and talking in whispers, some going about nightly tasks around the edges of the main sleeping area. The Gry Kaseri trots over to is clearly in the ending throes of her own dream, antennae twitching back and forth.

As the Ponyta reaches her, she sits bolt upright with a click of alarm.]
luckydragonsfoot: (nyh-)

[personal profile] luckydragonsfoot 2020-07-09 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[Katsuya rubs at his face a bit, but hurriedly sits up more to explain the ponyta before anything goes weird.] Ah- 's alrigh'!

She's jus' helpin' y' calm down, don' worry! Uh...

[Sheepishly, he rubs the back of his head.] She uh...normally jus' does that f'r me back home 'n such...

[Right, well beyond that.] Oi, you alrigh' though?
voidtreckernpcs: (gry)

[personal profile] voidtreckernpcs 2020-07-10 12:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh! Thank you, little alien.

[ She pats Kaseri gingerly on the neck. The translator is clearly doing some serious legwork; the Gry's motions don't match up to how he hears it at all. Like sign language, dubbed. ]

Yes! [ Her voice is hushed. A large proportion of the cavern is still asleep, after all, though most have subsided into more restful sleep. ] I didn't think I'd get a vision two nights in a row, you know? Super weird.
luckydragonsfoot: (nyh-)

[personal profile] luckydragonsfoot 2020-07-10 12:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[It's weird- but if he thinks about it, it's sort of like watching the monsters that couldn't talk. Clearer actually- he sure never got 'real' words from those guys...]

T' be honest, I'm less used t' nights w'thout, [he admits- quietly though, so only they can hear. It's still a touchy matter to him- with someone who is used to them though, someone he'll probably never see after they leave...well. It's easier.

While Kaseri whinnies happily and makes herself comfortable, Katsuya goes on.
] Visions f'r you guys rarer then though? What'd they normally mean? It was kinda...intense, not gonna lie.
voidtreckernpcs: (gry)

[personal profile] voidtreckernpcs 2020-07-11 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[ The Gry's antennae wave in... excitement? Probably, given how she leans forward eagerly at the same time. ]

You saw something too? What was it? I'm not very good at interpreting the Burrower, may it last forever-- [ She makes a quick gesture with one hand, not quite visible in the darkness. The movement displaces her blanket, revealing a tablet screen glowing a soft green, before she smooths it back down. ] -- But my friends are, so I could ask them for you.
luckydragonsfoot: (stare sadly into the middle distance-)

[personal profile] luckydragonsfoot 2020-07-12 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
[Seems like excitement!

And that sure is a religious title, weird hearing things like that for real. (As quickly as he thinks it, he can't help but feel like cuffing himself over the head for hypocrisy. HM.)

Katsuya's eyes widen at the screen- but he quickly grins.
] Aw man, tha' makes me think of when I had t' hide my phone fr'm dad, [he can't help but say, laughing quietly. He carries on, careful to keep his voice down- don't want to get anyone in trouble after all!] 'f you know someone who c'n figure out what this meant though, I'm game! I can't make heads 'r tails 'f it...

[Right, he should say what it was.]

Start'd off w darkness- real pressurin', couldn' see a thing. After a bit, there w's scuttlin' sounds like...I dunno, somethin' w' a bunch 'f legs I guess, [he decides, shaking his head. He'd rather not think too hard about the idea of spiders coming FOR him, at this point.] And then...

[He can't hide the shudder this time, and Kaseri moves a bit to tap him with a hoof.] ...Fire. Jus'...fire, ev'rywhere, [he manages with a whisper. After that it definitely turned for something of a past dream- he won't bother mentioning that, there's no way this Burrower guy is responsible for that.

But the close association between the two makes the fear stick more, he thinks.

I see! [At his approval of her tablet, she's shifted so that she can type on it under the blanket, held up by one bristled leg. If he looks over her shoulder, he'll be able to see her scrolling through what looks like a discussion forum, though the translator doesn't bother with the long strings of emotes, all Terran faces.

The forum topic is Vision Interpreting Part 36 NO TERRANS ALLOWED and a string of emotes.]

Um... What would you say was the main theme of the vision?
luckydragonsfoot: (say again-)

[personal profile] luckydragonsfoot 2020-07-12 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
Hnnnn....

[He's definitely peeking, why wouldn't he!

....Ahahaha, no terrans...right, probably no visions for terrans, uh-

Katsuya jumps a bit as the gry asks her question, pulling himself back to focus.

Themes! Yes, themes!

...was there even-
] I think abou' th' only thing linkin' it all up w's fear. Th' firs' two uh...

[He glances over his own shoulder, and then refocuses.] ...Well th' first two seemed a lot like somethin' I saw b'fore gettin' here- tha' dream ended in somethin' tacklin' me, [Katsuya explains, quietly shaking off the nerves as he thinks back on it.]

Th's one wasn' as clear though- like I said, it felt like the biggest link w's jus' how terrifyin it all was. Hihhhh...
voidtreckernpcs: (gry)

[personal profile] voidtreckernpcs 2020-07-12 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
[She nods, encouraging! Maybe. She goes back to typing, at least, filling in a new comment with some kind of premade form.]

That makes sense. Fear has been a big one recently. There are a lot of different thoughts of what we should be afraid of... Some of the elders think it might even be the Terrans!

[Haha can you imagine.] So, that means you're scared of the dark, and legs, and fire, huh? Mine are mostly of being trapped, or being eaten! Which lends itself to the Terran theory, actually... [She subsides into sleepy mumbling.]
luckydragonsfoot: (OHHHHH NO-!)

[personal profile] luckydragonsfoot 2020-07-12 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
Th' Terran theory?

[About a split second after that, he figures it out.] Wai' those guys used t' eat- [Excuse him while he goes white and shudders. NOPE! BAD!

Kaseri is now nuzzling both- double time work over here for the emotions horse apparently.
] Hihhh. Y...yikes...

Guessin' fear ain' normally a big one huh...hn.

...I wonder 'f everythin' could be thread'd t'gether t' make more sense. 'f y' combined our two, y'd get 'trapped 'n a dark place, before somethin' comes w' fire and... [he trails off. Great, now HE'LL probably get the eaten dream! Not cool.]

Eugh, maybe we jus' shouldn' think abou' it until we're properly calmed down huh...
voidtreckernpcs: (gry)

[personal profile] voidtreckernpcs 2020-07-12 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Normally it's more complicated than this... but I guess you're not people-- I mean! You're not... from here... [ She's addressing most of her apologies to Kaseri. ] What I'm saying is, maybe your brains aren't wired to receive the Burrower's messages!

Um..! [ ANYWAY SHE HITS POST. ]
luckydragonsfoot: (nyh-)

[personal profile] luckydragonsfoot 2020-07-12 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Hah!

Nah, nah I got y'- y' mean people like 'Gry' yeah? [The upsides of talking to his duel monster deck back home is this is Not quite the first time he's had this talk.

Tragically he was on the Gry's end, and the other end was Panther Warrior arguing about 'how dare he assume he can swim because he's a panther he is a leopard you should know this'.

Stupid Panther.

Kaseri in any case, appears entirely oblivious.
] Makes sense anyway, we ain't even from th's planet. Heck for all I know th' Burrower's got competition in my case- like I said, I normally see stuff when I'm back home...course half th' time I don' know what tha' means until it happens either, but eh, it works out.

[He'll just not think too hard about that time he dreamed about the gods coming to Alola. That was a bad time.]

Huh. ...Shit though. 'F it's normally more 'n tha', we might be missin' somethin' important huh.
voidtreckernpcs: (gry)

[personal profile] voidtreckernpcs 2020-07-13 02:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. People. [ Guess what Gry translates to! Kaseri is going good work, the Gry soon calms from her social anxiety. ]

Oh, you get your own visions? I guess it doesn't really make sense to say yours aren't complicated... I'm dreaming about scary things too, so-- [ She hits what's probably a site refresh shortcut for the tenth time, and perks up at a response.

...

And then wilts. ]
Ugh, it's those stupid Terran trolls again.
luckydragonsfoot: (nyh-)

[personal profile] luckydragonsfoot 2020-07-13 02:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah- they're uh...not really common where I'm from though. Th' only other person I know who did get 'm only got 'm because 'f a magic object even!

Hones'ly 'f it wasn' f'r th' fact that I'm used t' some kinda dream going on, I'd probably 've wondered what th' hell jus' happened, [he admits.]

They're not always scary at least- but normally when they are, somethin' importan's comin' up so-

[He cuts off as his new friend wilts, and winces.] Geeze. In'ernet's th' in'ernet wherever it is huh...guess that figures, [Katsuya huffs.] I'd ask 'f it's at leas' somethin' y' can laugh at, but we ain' 'xactly talkin' about anythin' that's a laughin' matter.

[He'd sure be ready to deck someone if they tried saying it was a laughing matter at least.]
voidtreckernpcs: (gry)

[personal profile] voidtreckernpcs 2020-07-13 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
No, it's just some Terran saying that we're all-- ugh. Anyway, it's okay. I'm sure we'll get a good answer. It's just that everyone's asleep!

[ She stifles a yawn of her own. ]
luckydragonsfoot: (u done yet)

[personal profile] luckydragonsfoot 2020-07-13 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[Stifling is for NERDS. And also tiny bugs. Katsuya's giving a fairly big yawn himself, though it's fortunately a quiet one all at once.] Yeesh, sucks.

Guess we'll see what th' others think later then...hopefully we don' get hit w' more visions like tha' while we sleep then huh?

[Another yawn.] Geeze, hope I can sleep in some...

[At least he's used to sleeping through these.]
voidtreckernpcs: (gry)

[personal profile] voidtreckernpcs 2020-07-15 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope not! It's time for training soon, maybe... [Another yawn, her antennae rattling against her head. She makes a valiant attempt to stay awake to monitor her forum post, but after ten minutes of refreshing, she tips over sideways onto Kaseri and starts to snore.

The tablet, if he checks it, has three more comments on it a few minutes later, one debating recent disasters and whether they match up to the 'fluffy alien's vision', one speculating that perhaps the Burrower itself, may it last forever, is afraid of something, and another troll comment about credulous primitives. ]
luckydragonsfoot: (nyh-)

[personal profile] luckydragonsfoot 2020-07-16 12:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[Peek, he certainly does- and his brows furrow with concern when he spots the speculation. It's logged away in time to huff in irritation at the troll. He can't tell what's worse- the comment or the fact that he'd probably have been muttering about the same thing to someone just a year prior.

...Boy, he really was kind of a jerk huh. Ah well. Best he can think there was nothing about fire in any hear-say about disasters...(Haha, fluffy...because of his hair, he gets it...)

He tries not to worry too much about 'gods' under attack, unable to keep from shuddering when he thinks of the last time anything like that happened in his vicinity

Katsuya sighs, and then pauses. His friend seems to have fallen asleep after all, and he's pretty sure she'll get in trouble if she's caught with the tablet. Discretely, he tries to find some way to cover it with a blanket or similar. Kaseri doesn't seem to mind playing pillow in the meantime- she's even yawning herself. But once any incriminating light is covered up, he'll lay back down in his own sleeping pack himself.

If they're supposed to be getting up soon, he wants as much sleep as he can get!!
