Event: Healing Waters

"Good morning passengers, it is day twenty three of the month of Grasshopper. All passengers of the Voidtrecker Express require rest. Next stop Jema’grethy Island. All passengers prepare to disembark."

It is a very strange morning message that rings through the train on the morning of day twenty three but as the passengers of the Voidtrecker Express wake their screens glow with the colour of the void and a holographic screen pops up for them to read.

World #2554098133741: A world once inhabited by an ancient civilisation and now preserved as a historical site, nature reserve and well-being retreat. It is famous for its relaxing hot springs, calming atmosphere and beautiful beaches.

It is a popular void-traveller destination, particularly among void missionaries as a place to rest and recuperate after difficult missions.

The Voidtrecker Express will spend three days here, arriving today and leaving on day twenty six of the month of Grasshopper. The dressing carriage is open for your convenience.

It is time for a holiday it seems!

Preparation

For those who go to explore the dressing carriage they will find a variety of beachwear and wetsuits. One cupboard has a pile of tents and groundsheets in all four team colours.

One cabinet is exclusively filled with beach towels, in a kaleidoscope of colours, designs and patterns. Another is filled with different shapes and sizes of plain towel dressing gowns. There is even a cabinet with buckets, spades and small rock-pooling nets.

It seems they are in for quite an adventure.

Arrival

"Shortly arriving on World #2554098133741. Exit from void in ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one."

The train lurches and rattles as it leaves the void they will get a glimpse of silver-purple sky and a beautiful ocean below.

However some passengers might be a little more than distracted, one staring at that table for a second too long, another seeming lost in thought for a couple of seconds, a longer than normal pause in a sentence. They see a vision, a glimpse of a life that is not their own. Not all at once, but here and there as the train descends to the island.

But then it is gone and things are back to normal. Just in time, as they come to land.

Jema’grethy Island

The train has landed on a grassy ridge, overlooking a beautiful beach of white sand and the ocean beyond. It is warm, but not too hot, a cool ocean breeze cutting through the heat making it pleasant. Behind them is a grassy plain, changing to forest in the distance. There is the sound of birdsong in the purple sky. To the west the land is more craggy, the silhouette of a fortress in the distance. In a word, it is idylic. A sense of peace permeates the island.

A little more worrying is the volcano-like structure in the north. But even a quick glance will show it is not a typical volcano. There is no smoke and the liquid slowly running down it in rivulets is pink and blue.

Exploring the passengers will find beautiful beaches, ragged cliffs to walk and caves to explore. Where it is more craggy the beaches are made of pebbles- perfect for rock pooling.

The place has no people, but it is clearly maintained. The eastern beaches have racks of shallow boats, both canoes and one- or two-person sailing dinghies. There is also a small building in which scuba gear is stored, along with several waterproofed manuals and instructional literature.

Ruins of ancient houses are scattered across the island, but the main settlement is built into a rocky section in the north-west that has been secured with ropes and stairways cut into the cliffs, perfect for scrambles and hikes.

There are no living quarters, but there are sheltered sections with basic toilet facilities marked as camping grounds in five different sections of the island - by the hot springs, within the ruined fortress, beside the harbour, on the eastern beaches, and on the northern face of the mountain.

Hot Springs

To the west are the hot springs. They have both outdoor and indoor areas; the indoor areas being wooden loghouse saunas, changing rooms and storage sheds, whilst the outdoor areas are a tiered series of pools spilling down the side of the mountain and shaded by brightly flowering trees. The waters are hot, mineral-rich and soothing.

Perfect for overly stressed, world weary Void heroes...

[ It is incredibly rare to get this level of coldness and irritation in his tone of voice. Senku does get angry, but it's often not productive so he doesn't dwell on it, and it may not be productive here, but that doesn't mean he isn't going to try. ]

[ He's using volume to hopefully startle her. ]

I am going to seriously kick you in the ribs if you do not let me down right now.

[ This is Enna's only warning. He'll come willingly too, if she does let him down, just not like this. ]

[She... unceremoniously drops him.

She let him down, as requested!]

You shouldn't threaten people. That's mean.

[ He lands on his backside, not quite ready for the drop, but that's fine. He takes a few breaths and flicks and irritated look in her direction before getting up and dusting off his pants.

His tone is less biting, more sarcastic now. ]

You shouldn't grab people and carry them against their will either, so I think we're even.

What is it you want me to do?

Well, you're pretty weak with everything, so we're going swimming!

[She puffs up, proud of her idea.]

Not an inaccurate assessment.

[ Stength, stamina, endurance...he didn't have any of that. If he was bothered, he didn't show it. ]

I have no objections on the face of it.

[ The water should be nice, at least. ]

So! Let's go! Let's get started. No time like the present!

[She's marching off!

... though she looks oblivious, she is paying attention to noises to see if he's following.]

[ He is following her, at least, trudging back towards the water's edge. Fortunately, he's been to the preparation car and put on some swim trunks under his clothes.

It wouldn't have bothered him to swim naked, but it probably wasn't what most people were used to.

He'll stop halfway to the water and pull his dumb orange shirt over his head, and step out of the boots while he worked on undoing the wraps he now had around his wrists. ]

If I must, but I'm just a passable swimmer.

[Enna's gonna just... climb on into one of those dinghies.]

[ He knows the movements, very well. He spent hours helping Byakuya learn to swim with a terrible contraption he'd come up with.

Some how this seems incredibly familiar, and yet now he's the guinea pig. ]

Okay...

[ He wades out into the water slowly in his long green swim trunks arms crossed. He's kind of a wuss about how cold the water is, he gets very slow once it gets over his calves. ]

[Enna's starting to push the boat out, but she stops, turning to Senku.]

... What are you doing? Caw. Get in the boat, silly. We're going out deeper so you don't act all weird.

The water's cold!

[ He feels like a reasonable person would point that out. ]

Also...where are you taking me?

[ His eyes narrow suspiciously. ]

I might've been overselling my swimming skills here... [ Which he hadn't done. At all. ]

Out there!

[She gestures.]

There's treasure out there. And it's easier to learn if someone else is around.

Yeah, yeah, alright.

[ He was still tempted to flee, that seemed like a wise course of action before Enna just picked him up anyway, demonstrating that she was much stronger than he was. This was like any of his other mental chess games with people who were stronger than him.

Go along with it, look for an opening and take it.

Senku pulled himself up into the boat without too much trouble, just a trembling of his arms really which was pretty good for him, but as it was he wasn't that heavy. Fortunately, he had sea legs, he wouldn't get sick on this little voyage.]

What kind of treasure?

Not sure yet!

[Enna starts tugging on the ropes, turning the sails, skimming the dinghy out over the surface.]

But I can feel it out there, so I know it's there. It's shiny and calling me!

[ She did say she had some sort of affinity for treasure. He just sat on the seat and leaned back onto the edge with his elbows, looking at the sky for a moment. ]

Seems like a good day for sailing at least, we probably won't capsize.

[ Nothing like stating the worst case scenario, something he is very good at doing and it almost never ends well. ]

Don't be stupid. We won't capsize. I'm here.

[She pouts, but has both her hands occupied steering the boat... And then, a fair distance out, she manages to stop, turning the sail to not catch the wind.]

Okay, it's here! I'll dive and get it and then we'll start teaching you.

If you say so. I'll assume you're as good as Ryusui, since he wouldn't capsize us either.

[ It's not a slight at all. He's okay with steering a boat, but he lets the experts do it. ]

I'm not- I know how to swim, I can't just do it for very long. Ugh.

[ He drags his hand down his face. ]

Go get your treasure.

[She dives into the water, easily enough. And, well. She's down for a while. She's an experienced diver.

But when she comes up, she's holding a single, shiny gold coin.]

Got it! Found it! Look!

[ It's a gold coin. It might even be real gold, which certainly is a valuable mineral of course, but in that quantity not terribly useful. ]

What're you going to do with that?

.... What do you mean, 'do with it'? It's just shiny.

[She acts like she doesn't understand the question.]

[ He stares at her a moment. ]

Yes, that's a property of what you're holding, but what purpose does it serve? What's the point in having it?

[ Like she doesn't understand his question, Senku doesn't understand her motivation. ]

The point?

The point is I like looking at shiny things.

[ That still doesn't make a lot of sense to him. ]

You're going to look at it. You took a boat out here, dove down to pick it up, all so you can look at it.

[ He sighs. That's just so...illogical. ]

Well. Glad you got it, I guess.

Yeah?

[She seems confused as to what the problem is as she climbs back into the boat.]

Shiny things are nice. They make me feel calmer when I look at them, and they usually feel nice, too. And when I'm looking at them, the don't scream anymore.

None of that makes any sense to me.

[ He puts his hand over his eyes, just shaking his head to himself. ]
