Memory Cave
After the passengers see a glimpse of a life that is not their own they appear in a cave. It is light, a strange moss glowing on the walls and ceiling illuminates the cave nicely and it is large enough for them to pace around in without trouble.
They are not alone. In the cave with them is another voidtrecker. Maybe someone they know well, maybe someone they have only seen in the aisles of the train. But they are together in this cave together.
The cave has no exit, at least not yet. They know that it will, eventually. When the time is right.
But for that time to come, they first must talk...

Glorfindel | Cassie L
Re: Glorfindel | Cassie L
"This...this is some sort of mental space," he said, after a moment. He was not currently in his own body. He hoped that wouldn't cause a setback in his reconnecting.
He looked at the girl, Cassie, Cassie Lang. He'd seen her with her father twice now. Once as an adult, the other, from the perspective, she was much much younger. But the music had brought her such joy.
When they'd spoken earlier, she also had one of his memories, so he was certain she'd gotten another as well. He wondered which one it was.
"Your father means a lot to you, doesn't he?"
Re: Glorfindel | Cassie L
Re: Glorfindel | Cassie L
"It is important to hold onto the things that are precious to us. You say you lost time with him, though. What happened? If you don't mind me asking?"
Re: Glorfindel | Cassie L
Re: Glorfindel | Cassie L
"But your father returned. I could feel how happy that made you," he said with a warm smile. "I would be honored to see your pictures of your family.
Did nothing in his memories bother her? He was glad about that. The Halls of Waiting could be quite traumatic if one wasn't prepared.
Re: Glorfindel | Cassie L
[I figured Scott and Hope filled in the blanks post battle.]
Re: Glorfindel | Cassie L
"The Halls of Waiting are where elves go to wait to be reborn, after they die," he said. "It is a place of reflection, and of reconnecting, and healing."
[I'm sure they did!]
Re: Glorfindel | Cassie L
Re: Glorfindel | Cassie L
"There are currently more in the Halls that in Valinor right now, but I expect that will be changing soon, now that we are almost entirely gone from Middle Earth," he said.
[Do we want to have the doors open now?]
Re: Glorfindel | Cassie L
"Not my place to ask but war?? Cassie asked.
Re: Glorfindel | Cassie L
"Mm, Melkor, one of the Ainur, from when Arda was first created, did not like the music that the Ainur used. He felt they should use his and only his. I refer to him as the Discordant One for this reason," he said with a smile. "He fomented distrust and destruction, and eventually war. We, meaning the Elves with the help of the Valar, finally captured him and he was banished to the Void, but then his Apprentice, Sauron, showed that he was more than capable of taking up where Melkor left off. Three Ages in total, we warred with one, then the other. But finally, it is over. Sauron is dead."
Memory Three
But before he could turn to talk to the adult Cassie, they were then whisked away to a memory of his.
Not just a memory, but the memory of his death. The Balrog, the heat, the determination not to let that thing win. He still remembered it vividly. Seeing it from another perspective like this, however...he wondered if that was how his House felt, watching this unfold.
He found himself focused more on their faces, as they watched him fight. He knew all their names, each and every one of them. Each death was like a pain in his heart. He hadn't been able to do anything then either, trying to keep the Balrog from destroying them all meant leaving his people to fight for their lives alone.
He had spoken to each one that fell, after, in the Halls. To his surprise and astonishment, not one blamed him for their death, and refused his apologies. To an elf they swore to him again, to follow him, to be a part of his House.
He looked over at Cassie, to see how she was taking this memory of his, right on the heels of her own.
Re: Memory Three
Re: Memory Three
"But the rest of my people, they got away." And that was very, very important to him. That he succeeded.
"I am sorry you have something to compare it to, though. That Thanos...there was no reasoning with him?"
Re: Memory Three
Re: Memory Three
"And thank you. I appreciate you saying that."
(If the doors open, are they walking through the same one, and if so, have we decided what kind of bond they will have?
Being in a mental and emotional bond with an elf will be...very interesting! (As will the opposite, for Glorfindel). But as a result, she will have his total support, if she goes for that armor. He makes a FABulous cheerleader!)
Re: Memory Three
"You're welcome. Wins are wins no matter how tiny it seems."
Re: Memory Three
Why is the armor so far off, if I might ask?)
"After I was in the Halls of Waiting it was easier to see the wins, I will admit," he said with a smile. "What wins have you personally had, recently?" he asked.
Re: Memory Three
Just saving up points!]
"Scaring monsters via ringtone?"
Re: Memory Three
"That works. It shows you have imagination, gumption, and a willingness to think outside the box," Glorfindel said, meaning his words sincerely.
He blinked as something in the cave space changed, just as it had last time. Except...this time there was only one door. "I guess we get to leave now."
