Memory Cave

After the passengers see a glimpse of a life that is not their own they appear in a cave. It is light, a strange moss glowing on the walls and ceiling illuminates the cave nicely and it is large enough for them to pace around in without trouble.

They are not alone. In the cave with them is another voidtrecker. Maybe someone they know well, maybe someone they have only seen in the aisles of the train. But they are together in this cave together.

The cave has no exit, at least not yet. They know that it will, eventually. When the time is right.

But for that time to come, they first must talk...

One moment he had been with Quatre, enjoying the breeze coming from the sea as they sat on towels together. Amira was chasing a tiny little crab, which was proving to be very amusing. Suddenly he was seeing things he knew had never happened to him, he'd never had such a pleasant upbringing. The flash of happy childhood ended, leaving Trowa in the glowing cave and looking around. When his eyes landed on Jessie, a faint smile crossed his face. "Ah, now that odd moment on the train makes more sense. I knew it couldn't have been a product of my own mind, we do have different parts after all."

"Explains a lot! Louisiana never had lions outside the circus for one thing." Jessie nodded, she had snuck into the woods to smoke when the flash of kissing happened. She then realized Trowa must have seen her pre Angelville life,"Preacher's daughter."

"Child soldier." Trowa replied as a way of greeting. "I'm Trowa, by the way. I'm not sure you hear my name in what you saw." He held his hand out in greeting and stepped a little closer to Jessie. "I've also been working in a circus since the wars ended. I'm not one of the lion tamers, but they love me anyway."

"Jessica but call me Jessie." as her hand is offered in return. "So you saw my family and I know you have a boyfriend?" going from what she saw of course. "And the lions did look happy."

Trowa shook Jessie's hand with a smile. "I think I did see some of your family. And a boy named Tristan. Also, yes, I do have a boyfriend. For better or worse, he's even here on the island from the train with me. I set us up in a tent on the beach."

"My dad more than likely. Tristan is my best friend, the joke around the church is he and I are soulmates." Jessie filled in the blanks but smiling since she knows its true. Knowing he was out there gave her the courage to escape Angelville to name one factor. "I had snuck off to smoke then poof." meaning the cave.

"I had lust pulled in my line from the rock pool I was fishing in and moved to some shade." Trowa decided to take a seat on the floor of the cave. "I'l liable to come out of this with Amira in my face. Or on my face." The idea made him chuckle a little. "I can see why people thought you and Tristan are soulmates, you seemed inseparable."

"Who is Amira?" Jessie was curious. "Tristan and I were never far apart even as kids! Good laugh for the older ladies of the church right?" she giggled.

"I don't know if you've seen the tiny little spotted cat on the train, but that's Amira. She's the pet I got through the shop, and she's from the smallest species of wild cat in my world. She's also surprisingly sweet." If he'd been able to, Trowa would have been tempted to buy a lion cub, but that hadn't been an option. "And I bet you two got into plenty of trouble, too, yeah?"

"It adds up now! I have seen her but assumed she was a common house car from her size." Jessie nods. "You have no idea! We got into pretty typical trouble like most kids. Midnight fridge raids were a sport"

"Out of all the cats we seem to be getting, she's going to end up staying the smallest, I believe." A fond smile crossed Trowa's face as Jessie mentioned the 'typical' trouble she got into growing up. "I can't say I know much about that kind of trouble, being a child soldier. But it sounds like you two had a lot of fun."

"It makes sense, but I would love to meet her." Jessie had to smile. "We had a ton of adventures from fridges raids to running around the church. But I was a good girl, as a preacher's kid I had to be right"

"I'd be happy to introduce the two of you properly. On the train we spend a lot of time in the greenhouse car. She loves stalking through all the plants and hunting dead leaves." Which was positively adorable as far as Trowa was concerned. "I can imagine there'd be a lot of pressure for you to be the model of good behavior growing up."

"I can't wait." Jessie has to smile. "Basically that, even more so in a small town. The church ladies are hens when it comes to gossip and I had to be the model of good. But I could be a normal kid too." least pre Angelville.

Trowa smiled back at her, feeling the happiness radiating. "Sounds like a pretty great childhood." Far better than his had been, but he wasn't about to compare notes.

Suddenly, two brightly glowing doorways opened behind each of them. The light was far brighter than the moss on the walls, and it made Trowa squint for a moment as his eyes adjusted. "I think we're getting a way back to ourselves."

"We did." Jessie flinched at how bright the light was. " to sneaked smokes and happy cats? "

"And fishing on the beach." Trowa grinned as he stretched. "I'm sure we'll see each other around the island before the vacation is over."

"I hope so!"

Turning toward one of the doors, Trowa paused and smiled at Jessie. "Enjoy the relaxation."

"Till next time."
