Memory Cave

After the passengers see a glimpse of a life that is not their own they appear in a cave. It is light, a strange moss glowing on the walls and ceiling illuminates the cave nicely and it is large enough for them to pace around in without trouble.

They are not alone. In the cave with them is another voidtrecker. Maybe someone they know well, maybe someone they have only seen in the aisles of the train. But they are together in this cave together.

The cave has no exit, at least not yet. They know that it will, eventually. When the time is right.

But for that time to come, they first must talk...

Maru opened his eyes and glared.

"... And which of those things don't usually happen?" Unless, of course, this cat had visions on the regular. "I've never had a nap and woken up in a cave. But I had a vision and I did. But whatever..." His head dropped and his eyes closed. "Not gonna argue... it's annoying."

"Yeah, watched Dominic have visions most of his life. He never actually.... Oh ****, our bodies are still where we left them aren't they?" he flopped onto his side dramatically. "I should have brought the stupid crystal ball." It had been for seeing visions back home then in Nautilus it has been hi.... wait. He rolled back into a sitting position. "Can't we use these watch things to go back to the train?" Nita had said that, hadn't she? Someone had, anyway.

Maru lifted his head a little. What kind of leaps of logic was this guy pulling here? Clearly they were there. This was nothing like his subconscious... This was not the form he would use.

Slowly he sat himself up and looked down at his paw. He didn't usually pay the thing much attention.

"... Think it'd work?"

"If it gets us back to fish and the person you hafta save, it would be depressing to find out one button push coulda gotten us out if we'd just caved in and tried."

Maru tilted his head and then gave a small shrug before he hit the button...

... And nothing happened. Nothing at all. He hit it again. And a third time, just to be certain. And then heaved a heavy sigh.

"Not working... We're stuck here..." Maru shook his head. "I'll say it again, it's that vision."

"Then we just wait for Dominic to find us...?"

"Who?" Maru had no idea who that was. Admittedly that wasn't saying much... he had no idea who 95% of the people on the train were.

But then something kicked him right in the memories and he frowned.

"... That was the name of the guy in my vision."

"One of my first humans. leaving his body to save people is one of the things he does. Doesn't seem to matter the world or plane or fancy." Have a feline shrug.

Was Dominic a common name? He wasn't sure, but his kitty ears twitched because Dominic and visions usually went together for a reason. And that reason... often meant Spark missed meals.

"Then what was he doing in my head...?" Except it wasn't in his head. It was definitely a vision. A memory. He tried to think of something else.

"... There was a blob. Someone called Luna..." He frowned. "... it was strange. There were other people. Magic and... stuff. I didn't understand it."

Spark sat straight up now. "Dominic... and Luna... Deegan....?" How... why...?

If this was Dominic's way of trying to get him to be the guide to some new Seer....

Except he had those two odd visions himself. Ugh.

"Who were the other people?"

Maru frowned unhappily and did his best to remember.

"I don't..." A shake of his head. "I guess the blob was called Dejay... uh... Dejah? Something like that? And yeah, Deegan was the guys name. Someone called him that." Maru's head cocked to the side and his eyes closed, he was trying to remember. "Greg... Jayden... Others. It was weird. I didn't understand what was going on. They were leaving a place to go and see the blob thing for... some reason..."

"DEJAH!" he cried, excited. Then blinked. Had Dejah and Jayden ever met? Then he stopped dead as something else caught up with him. "You saw Greg?"

"Think that's what his name was... yeah..." Maru shook his head and then dropped back down, head falling on his paws. "... People kept callin me Spark..."

"But Spark's my name...." That wasn't how visions worked, was it...?

"Dunno what to tell you... I guess I was you... and you licked a blob. And that's weird." Maru gave him a funny look. "... Do you normally lick weird things?"

"Hey! Dejah tastes like jelly, he's yummy!" But then he frowned a bit. "That's not how visions usually work though...."

"I've never had one so... I dunno." Maru shrugged and sighed. Why was he having a vision of this guy anyway? It was weird.

But then he frowned as something occurred to him. "... Wait... I had another one. On the train before I got out. Something about a doctor and a... something." His face scrunched a bit as he tried to remember the word. "... Tardis...? There were a bunch of names I thought about as well. Was that you too?"

His ears went flat and his shoulders hunched. "I wish Dominic was here. He's the one who understands all this stuff he's the one who gets the visions. I just babysit his crystal balls," he added the last in a mutter. He shook himself a bit. "You saw the Doctor?" he asked quietly. He missed the Doctor so much. Not the one here who didn't know him and was too busy. But the Doctors from the last world. Even crabby old mean faced Nine would be better than... no one.

"I don't do visions..." Maru sighed. "Not like this at least..." His subconscious was a different kind of beast.

"Don't get why we're both here though. Or why we can't go." Something about the visions was keeping them there, that was for sure. But what? He'd told the guy, and now he knew the visions were about the other cat. So what now?

"Neither do I. They could have alt least left us some fish. And the person you need to be with. And fish."

Maru was fed up now. All this cat could think about was fish, without adding anything. He went back to laying his head on his paws. Soon he would be allowed back, he was sure of it. He just had to wait.

Hey, if they had fish, Spark could be fed up too. But Spark learned to focus harder than ever on the fish to hide things. To deflect. Because there were secrets he could not risk sharing.

But if his memories were being shared without his consent...

After a long moment he finally asked "You see anything else, besides visiting Dejah?"

"Not really... Just the thing I said." It was hard to know what was important about the memories, because they weren't his.

"You'd know more, right?"

"I'm just a cat, what could I know more than anyone?" he dodged. But he realized that might not hold water... with another cat. If the other actually was a cat....

He was unsure, and that made him hesitant to share what he had seen. What if it revealed something about when he himself wasn't a cat sometimes?
