Memory Cave

After the passengers see a glimpse of a life that is not their own they appear in a cave. It is light, a strange moss glowing on the walls and ceiling illuminates the cave nicely and it is large enough for them to pace around in without trouble.

They are not alone. In the cave with them is another voidtrecker. Maybe someone they know well, maybe someone they have only seen in the aisles of the train. But they are together in this cave together.

The cave has no exit, at least not yet. They know that it will, eventually. When the time is right.

But for that time to come, they first must talk...

I mean she has a point. Those things we saw haven't exactly been too bad. I would be happy to talk about how arcades are awesome and such all day. Much like I am sure she can talk about her ship all day... I mean... it doesn't sound like a bad ship after all.

Maybe she'd feel differently if it were her own memory were up for discussion, but Nita can't help but be concerned anyway.

So instead she nods, shrugs, and finds a good rock to settle on.]

Let's talk about them, then. I know a little about arcades - and technically ships? - but not all that much.

Definitely not as much as you two, anyway. So!

I dunno about arcades! I wanna hear all about arcades. And your cat! I like your cat.

Argo Minor is a good ship! It's a caravel and it's my home now, because I live there. I don't have a home anymore on land, so now my home is on the ship. We got it from Cygnus, when they found out what was going on with our world. They were nice! Then we got it refitted in Volans, so it could fly, and once we picked up Miss 18, they kept fixing the ship so it looks different, but it's even faster now. Even if there's no wind, the Argo Minor still moves!

Wait...so does that mean your ship is now magic? I mean if it flies in the air to me that's a magic ship?

It might be from a place where spaceflight's normal, Minako.

[While Earth doesn't have a consistent habit of spacetravel, Nita's been to the Crossings; some spaceship designs can get weird.

Such is to say, Nita looks interested.]

Who's Miss 18, then? What sort of shapes do they make it look like?

Huh? Space-ships... You mean the Worldship? There's only one of those. The Argo Minor's just a normal sailing ship. But the shipwright at Volans had a blessing to make things fly, so he used it on our ship.

Miss 18 is our shipwright! We found them on Horologium. They're suuuuper big and made out of metal! They have a long name but I can't remember it so I call them Miss 18.

[Well that was that one sorted at least. Not onto the subject of Miss 18.]

Enlighten me... what is a shipwright again?

[Nita lets Minako ask the question this time, since she's curious too. She does not know ship culture, what is this.]

That's a silly question. Shipwrights build ships! And repair them, which is what Miss 18 does for us. It's a heavy job and takes a lot of training and know-how. It's a suuuuper-impressive job!

Silly but for someone who actually knows 0 about ships, it's a good question to ask.

[So silly for some but smart for her if she wants to learn.]

But I guess that is also an impressive job and sounds like there is a lot they have to do. I mean they would know the inside and out of a ship to know how to build and fix them after all.

And not just one kind of ship, either; have they worked on other kinds of ships their whole life?

Probably? I dunno.

I mean, Miss 18 was only dug up a few years ago, and they only had their own mind when I brought it to them.

They are a mystery~ Which makes them more interesting really. Wouldn't you want to know what there past life was like?

... What do you mean 'their own mind' - was it kept separately from their body?

[That's... not all that strange a concept to Nita, but it sure is different from the norm!]

I don't really get it either. But when I brought the Star of Puppis, it reacted to them and they sort of woke up?

I don't really care about their past life. It's too complicated for me to understand, anyway. As long as they're happy now, that's all that really matters to me.

That's honestly a good way to look at it. They are happy and whatever happened in thier past they have moved on from. So it is best to leave it.

[Says the girl who has moved passed some of her background anyway.]

I mean the past is what helps make a person who they are, but people don't need to know about it.

[Nita nods agreement; you can't get much more supportive than that. 'Let them be what they want to be.']

As long as that past doesn't butt its head in again, just getting on getting on... living and learning.
