Memory Cave

After the passengers see a glimpse of a life that is not their own they appear in a cave. It is light, a strange moss glowing on the walls and ceiling illuminates the cave nicely and it is large enough for them to pace around in without trouble.

They are not alone. In the cave with them is another voidtrecker. Maybe someone they know well, maybe someone they have only seen in the aisles of the train. But they are together in this cave together.

The cave has no exit, at least not yet. They know that it will, eventually. When the time is right.

But for that time to come, they first must talk...

[ It's only polite, isn't it? It doesn't seem like either of them really have a hand or a choice in the matter, so the least they can do for each other is to be courteous.]

Aziraphale.

[ Just the one name. Aziraphale doesn't know what to do with his hands, so he holds them together in front of himself.]

I do wish we were meeting under different circumstances, but I do suppose there's nothing we can do about it now.

Yes, I wish we were as well. I do not like forced meetings.

[And being trapped in a cave to speak to a stranger definitely qualified even if he seemed very polite. But if they have to speak of their visions, then there was no point in delaying]

When we first arrived, I saw something. It was in a house and you were speaking to another about the world ending.

[He sounded hesitant towards the end, unsure if he had understood that correctly. It sounded odd to him]

[ A house? That, somehow, despite the moment Aziraphale needs to take to think about it, is the thing that narrows it down for him. Unfortunately, talks about the end of the world aren't quite as unique as he wish they were. ]

Ah. [ As his face goes from narrow confusion to awkward neutrality. ] I see. Yes, I believe I know what it is.

[ He pauses for a moment to think about what he saw. ]

What I saw...I saw someone being held captive by a someone in yellow robes. They seemed quite, er...intend in intimidating the both of you."

[And it seemed that he was not sure either so WangJi wasn't sure if he had understood the conversation correctly. It had been fairly straight forward, but the actual conversation had been strange.

But finally, he seemed to know what it was]

The man in yellow was a sect leader. He was threatening the man who is now my husband.

[ The fortunate thing about Aziraphale is that he will answer questions to the best of his abilities, most of the time. The unfortunate part of that is that a certain person isn't in here to indicate to him when to stop talking.]

Ah. I see.

[ He falls into silence for a moment, glancing around the cave once more. As he finds no change, he speaks again, with a sigh.]

Well, I do suppose whatever this is wants more than this.

Is there, hum... Anything you'd like to ask?

[It's okay that he might talk too much. WangJi doesn't talk about things told him]

Perhaps... because there was another memory that I saw. It was after a war. The same person that you had been speaking to before had a case of some sort for you. Apparently something that you had wanted because the other said it was a miracle that the case was there.

[ For a moment, Aziraphale seems to falter. It doesn't look like he's upset, or saddened, or angered, no, just seems like that WangJi describes is immediately recognized. What does affect the angel is that, his entire existence considered, none of these memories are particularly ancient, and the latter one strikes him as very personal.

He isn't quite sure how he feels about someone else having seen it, even if they have no context for it. And, well, the only other people who had been present were, as was hinted at in the scene itself, quite deceased. ]

Oh. [ He finally says, regaining his composure. He clears his throat. ]

Yes, that was during quite an unfortunate time in that world. Most of its inhabitants had gotten quite effective at waging long spanning wars.

War is always an unfortunate thing. We had quite a long one in our world as well.

[Which was how he recognized the destruction was war. Whether ancient or modern, it was still easily recognizable]

[ Aziraphale nods solemnly, as someone who's clearly seen many. In fact, he's seen them before the Earth's very existence, when Her creations were all seen as holy, and then a an entirely new concept was made.

But, back to the matter at hand. ]

I also saw you training with another person. Perhaps the same one?

[achickenformylove]

[He could see that the other had like seen much fighting. It was just the look in his eyes at the subject]

Training? That... must have been my brother. He's older than me so he was the first to train me. Others say we look alike.

Oh, I see.

[ Aziraphale can't help but to throw glances around every so often, procuring an exit. I would be so much easier to do this if they knew the proper rules.]

Is he a passenger as well?

[achickenformylove]

[WangJi was keeping an eye on the cave around them as well looking for an exit. It didn't seem like there was one, but he had no idea what he should do in order to obtain an exit]

He is not. Fortunately that he is not stuck on the train. Unfortunately, because he is someone I care for.

Ah, I see.

[ He doesn't really know where to offer condolences or to say that it's fortunate. Such things are complicated in scenarios like this. He knows that if Crowley hadn't been with him in these last few strange months, that he would be missing him dearly, but that he would at least be thankful he hadn't gone through what they have. ]

I don't suppose...there is some connection between these visions?

[He would say fortunate. His brother had other things to do with his life, such as leading their sect though he was sure his brother was hurting a bit after what had happened right before he arrived]

Between yours and mine? Or between the two of mine?

Between...all of them, I suppose.

[ The cluelessness is rather unpleasant, but not more so than being trapped wherever they are. ]

Perhaps there's a reason we saw those specific ones?

[He thought for a long moment. Though he couldn't place an exact time for the second one with the information that he had, he could say something about the first]

The first of mine was recent. It was within only a day of finding myself on the platform.
