Memory Cave

After the passengers see a glimpse of a life that is not their own they appear in a cave. It is light, a strange moss glowing on the walls and ceiling illuminates the cave nicely and it is large enough for them to pace around in without trouble.

They are not alone. In the cave with them is another voidtrecker. Maybe someone they know well, maybe someone they have only seen in the aisles of the train. But they are together in this cave together.

The cave has no exit, at least not yet. They know that it will, eventually. When the time is right.

But for that time to come, they first must talk...

"Y'know casually acceptin' that yer gettin' shot tha' much ain't exactly healthy either? It ain't abou' if y' enjoy it man, like. I'm just sayin', unless most d'tectives an' cops have th' same issues on th' regular, as much as you? Kind 'f a sign somethin' ain' righ'. An' tha's without th' part where yer a pipsqueak," he adds with a point.

"Put aside th' part where you're a d'tective. You look like a kid. But it's still happenin'. Which means either y' ain' tha' great at it, or you an' th' other real kids, are gettin' int' this shit way more than y' oughta." He pauses, looks up in thought, and adds- "Or yer cursed. Don' say 's fake either, y' never know what's fake or not w'th this crap."

"I'm not cursed," he complains. "And I don't need an exorcist, and I'm definitely not followed around by a shinigami. I do hear the police rumors about me." Not that they tried to hide it very much.

"I just happen to run into a lot of dangerous cases."

He side eyes Jounouchi. "And for the record, my record of solved cases is 100%."

"Didn' say shit abou' an exorcist, jus' that y' sound cursed," he hums, shrugging. "Hones'ly, I'm pr'tty sure most exorcist priest stuff doesn' even work. Also, if yer cursed, it wouldn't be some kinda death god, even if you were at a bunch of murders, b'cause apparently y' got a 100% clear rate goin' on!"

If anything, Conan is probably haunted by the spirit of crime solving, or something. Anyway. "All I'm sayin', is that if you jus' happen t' keep runnin' int' shit that ev'n the adult cops an' detectives ain', something is wrong."

"I'm fairly certain that curses aren't real in my world," Conan points out. "For one thing, I've never run into anything supernatural that wasn't easily proven to be a hoax."

He shrugs.

"For me, its always been that way. I'd say its bad luck, except I don't believe in that either."

"Alrigh', whatever y' say. Whatever it is, it's shit, an' you're way too normalized t' it t' be hones'. I got tha' from jus' a little bit." It's a pretty yikes deal, even if he...can't actually do much about it he supposes.

"I might be normalized to dangerous situations, but I also have the skill set to handle them," he points out.

"An' tha' makes it any better..? Y' could say I have th' same skill set too y'know." He rubs his head, shrugging. This, ultimately, is going nowhere.

"Jus'...maybe don' take it so lightly, I guess. That shit'll leave its mark ev'n if y' think it doesn', trust me."
