Not with a Bang: Finale

It's been a strange few days, between trying to complete all of the tasks needed to stabilise the solar stations and keep the shield going, keep the pandas and armadillos away and fix robots whilst smashing other robots. That's not even counting the strange events that kept happening.

They might have heard the news from those who had found themselves on a small adventure of their own that there were potentially dangerous saboteurs on the planet and indeed once they were aware there were more signs, things moved, pandas far more frightened than they should have been, robots back in areas that had been cleared.

But no sign of the saboteurs themselves as the days go on. Until the evening of the twelfth day of Imagination, the sixth day of the mission.

Everyone's SCA alerts them to an exclamation mark, the Western Control Station, where red and blue had initially went to initialise shields. Clicking on the exclamation mark will show the message. Danger: Control Station unstable. Attempt stabilisation. Situation critical.

A few seconds later there is another exclamation mark, this time on a solar station about an hours walk to the south. A herd of Violet Pandas are loose in Solar station #13, clear the station and minimise damage.

And a few moments after that there is a third exclamation mark, right where they are in the camp. Robot activity approaching. Any red team members who check will see many red rots approaching their camp.

Control Station

For those that decide to tackle this one it is clear the moment they arrive that things are not as they should be. A tree has fallen, or been felled and though it seems the station is designed to withstand falling trees it makes getting into it difficult.

Every alarm is blaring, and indeed when they get inisde their own alarms on their SCA start to flash amber. It's dangerous in here!

Something they will quickly have learned anyways. It looks like someone pressed every button, flicked every switch. Every guage is showing too high, every warning light is flashing.

It's going to take some very quick fixing before this place overloads and explodes. Hopefully their work on the stations in the last few days has taught them enough that with some very quick and diligent work they should get the situation under control.

Solar Station #13

To the south in one of the solar stations a very different situation is unfolding. Those that arrive here will find pandas... everywhere. Somehow they have gotten into the station itself and are busy chewing on wires, exploring machines they really shouldn't be exploring. Some are trying to climb the solar tower and others are just lying on the monitors, seemingly enjoying the lights.

Luckily it seems less damage can be done to the solar stations than a control station, but still, there are alarms and flashing lights and far too many pandas. It will be some work to clear them all out.

Base Camp

It doesn't take long for the robots to arrive. There are a lot, some seem very patched together, as if someone had gone around scavenging parts and remaking them. Some are large terraforming machines, others the smaller security drones. Some are even the automatons that were used for maintenance, yet here they were being put to another purpose.

As they approach the permitted of the camp they stop and six human figures step forward. All are armed with large rifle type weapons and a tall woman speaks in a loud, clear voice.

"You are trespassing on our land. You will leave this place or you will die."

She casually waves the robots forward, they attack.

"Hey..." Kaiba tried to greet. Someone was there. Good.

"So long as we grab the SCA, we'll be fine."

That's. Kind of the problem. He's still looking, but it's very slow going.

The spider's teleportation had a very particular sound, somewhat digital, and it could be heard a minute or so later, at the entrance. Was this the place? She'd thought so, but it'd been kinda...

Hm. Wrecked? Yeah. She let Tidus down, anyway. Easier to move through the rubble that way.

Senku was coughing, there was a definite wheeze in his breathing when he stopped, and that was thanks to the smoke inhalation. He reached his good hand back at Gen in response.

It wasn't to grab him though, the arms band was on his middle finger and he was welcome to take it.

"Yeah, but if it's been moved by the blast, we might be fucked."

By 'we', he meant himself, but details.

Gen grabbed the ring, put it on his hand - and then took out some of that magic tree sap from the last mission.

“Both of you, try not to talk so much, until we get someone to magically heal you. But let me ...” They’re both pretty scraped up. Gen could at least use the sap on the minor injuries that Kaiba and Senku had gotten, to stop the immediate bleeding. “Hold still.”

Kaiba was notoriously Not Good at following instructions...but he as so worn out that he could accidentally be obedient. He found a piece of rubble to lean on and sagged there.

"But we need to stay awake...especially him..."

Now unimpeded, and much more used to moving through collapsed corridors and debris (even if she kept hitting her torso against the ceiling) the spider managed to follow the voices until-- ah-hah!

"Huh," she blinked at the state of them, unsure who to go for first. He'd said Onion-head was the worst off, right? She couldn't tell her MP any more, but she probably had enough for all of them. The circling script of a healing spell spun into being at her fingertips, and she squinted down at Senku.

"What's wrong with him?"

"It's..there was an explosion." Senku explained, leaning against the nearest wall as much as Kaiba did.

"Smoke inhalation. I hit the wall pretty hard. If my left shoulder wasn't broken before, it is now. Ribs, maybe, I...don't think I have a concussion, but my head hurts."

He was glad that she was speaking Japanese because without the SCA, he wouldn't have known what she was asking.

"Maybe dizzy..." He also sounded a bit like he was confused or distracted, nothing like he usually did. His personal assessment that he didn't have a concussion was probably not accurate.

Gen didn’t know that the spider could magically heal people - or he’d be kneeling at her feet begging for exactly that. Both Kaiba and Senku needed help, but he found himself at Senku’s side, first.

It’s not just his confused state - he looked at the other man’s eyes, and his breath caught. “Yes, both of you are going to stay awake - because you, at least, my dearest, have a concussion. Don’t argue with me. It’s incredibly hard to tell if you have a concussion when you have one.”

Gen applied some of the sap to some scrapes. “I should call for someone with magic to help both of you. Then we’ll find your SCA.”

"...ha." That's about all he says. Kaiba doesn't mind waiting...he's lived with worse pain. And in the meantime he'll try to stem the trickle of blood by pressing into the wounds as best he can.

Sprained shoulder, leg cut into, various bruises...but he'll live. Probably.

"Got it." She wasn't a mind reader, Kaiba! But his injuries at least had the grace to be highly visible and also bleeding copiously, so she could direct the spell where it was... probably... needed. Bright light started to seep from his wounds as his body started to knit and settle itself back together.

Onion-head, though-- he didn't have his SCA, huh? Wasn't that meant to do something bad? After a moment's hesitation, she just gave up and cast the kind of regenerative magic that'd probably be called something like Holy Magic Level 4: Blessed Restoration, or whatever, if she still had the system helping out and naming stuff for her. Advantages: pretty strong! She'd grown legs back with it before. Disadvantages: hmm, without her old regeneration skills and pain tolerance, maybe it'd be pretty weird to experience as mana flooded your body to keep it alive? Probably should've knocked him out first. Oh well. He was a tough, weird guy, maybe he'd get a kick out of it.

Hm, this might take a minute.

That ha was totally an 'I told you so', wasn't it?

Senku was too distracted to argue the point by Gen and he huffed a little bit. He did want to argue, but he was also feeling kind of tired and hurt and a lot now that the adrenaline had left his system.

Mana flooding into his body was a weird experience and not entirely comfortable either. He grunted as his shoulder knit back together first. It hurt, but there would be relief at the end of it all, that was probably the benefit.

He had a high pain tolerance, he could take it.

Gen saw the magic taking effect on Senku, and turned - saw the cuts and scrapes on Kaiba working as well. So. He wasn't precisely needed for this anymore, was he? He placed the sap back in the Arms Band, and allowed him just a single second of pure frustration, that he was ultimately useless to help Kaiba or his dearest Senku.

Just a second, though.

Then, he mentally kicked himself in the butt. "Okay. I'm going to start digging around for the SCA, it's ... it has to be here somewhere. Spider-sensei, do they need to sit down for a while after you heal them? What sort of side effects does your spell have? If both of them were concussed, will they need to be monitored still for its effects?"

And of course, he could talk and tear through rubble at the same time, trying to find what Senku lost in the blast.

"Thanks---ah."

Kaiba felt, well, not good, but less dead. That was an improvement. He gave her a grateful look and lifted a finger to point in the last known direction of Senku's SCA.

"That way---at least, it should be. It was a small explosion."

Ah, she'd wanted to just leave once she was done, but... responsibility was a heady mistress, huh? She blinked at Gen, and took a moment to consider. Would he understand terms like 'stamina'? Eh.

"If they don't rest, they might pass out." Close enough. Absently, she pulled out two silk blankets, and dropped them unceremoniously on Senku and Kaiba.

Senku blinked slowly at the appearance of the blanket, a bit dazed. "Where'd this come from?"

The pain from his injuries knitting back together was fading at least, and there was very little to keep him on his feet right now. Sheer will, perhaps.

He blinked slowly again, what was he meant to be doing?

Senku was running out of steam fast.

"Small explosions are still explosions, my friend," Gen couldn't help but quip at Kaiba. Everything right now was all pear-shaped. He wanted kind of to shout in frustration but he's digging through the rubble until the spider explained.

Gen couldn't see Senku's SCA anywhere. Looking back, he saw Senku was still terribly dazed, and fading fast. Adrenaline leaving him, probably. The SCA seemed terribly important, but. He had to look at all the rubble around them.

Decision made, he went over to Senku once more, and hugged him very carefully as he freed his own SCA from the sweatshirt covering it on his wrist. "Kaiba, please call for evac. Spider-sensei, could you please make sure that he does? Senku will get some rest."

He's just a moment away from pressing the evac button on his own SCA, intending to whisk Senku back to safety, and so he could force him to get some rest.

Kaiba was not happy about their situation at all. The blanket was nice...and he was a little exhausted. But there was still work to be done, could everyone handle it? The worry wouldn't leave his mind.

But he had a responsibility to the others, and so he reluctantly reached for his SCA, then Senku's sleeve.

"Fine. We're out."

Time to go.

"No problem." With perhaps a little more care than she'd given the blankets, she leaned over and moved Senku - manhandled him, really - so his weight was more against Kaiba. Just in case! She didn't know what the evacuation function would take as a 'plus one'.

Ah.

"Make sure they eat something, 'kay?" That had always helped her.

Senku was dazed enough not to complain about being embraced, or manhandled closer to Kaiba and honestly, it wouldn't matter which one of them tapped their SCA first.

Either way, Senku was evacuated to the train, he'd have to catch up with Spider some other time.

"Thank you again," Gen told the spider - and then he'd tap his SCA to get them out of there.

Of course, Gen would then need to try and get both Senku and Kaiba over down to the medical carriage - but surely they both would cooperate with him.

Right?
