"Welcome to Jinnjar City! A city famed as the central power of all of Diagad, and where the magic happens. It has a big history: the birthplace of the first Heroes Association that led to the creation of the Interstellar Justice Alliance, the protectors of the universe. Compared to other places, Diagad's what many people call a superheroes world, but that isn't true. A lot of us don't have the crazy powers that some of the popular folks have! And people like me? We don't care about saving the world! I'm just trying to make it through school, hang out with friends. Live my life!

People tell thousands of stories about us though, and that I can be proud of. When other planets call for help, it's us that comes running to their aid. Our heroes put their lives on the line for anyone who needs a hand, and sure, I don't count myself one of them... but I want to share their story anyway.

Well, I don't need to be telling you about this city, do I? You're a part of it! Always have been, just like me. So I should talk about some funny stuff that's been going on lately instead…”

A TL;DR notes version of days/prompts: (click to show)

EVENT BASICS: Un-apped AU characters were taken 1 week before the event from their own worlds, their minds altered to believe they were always from Jinnjar, Diagad. They have a superpower because of this and a new life either living alone or with family (other NPCs or PCs). Go to the OOC post for more info.

DAYS ONE-TWO:

• Strange streams of colour in the sky have appeared, and looking at them for too long causes strange headaches. At this point you’re not sure what they’re about, but you can investigate them. However, trying to get right close to them is impossible. You will never get high enough. Regardless, let us know if characters will be investigating anything!
  
  
• Voidtreckers arrive, be on the lookout. People are excited about finding these infamous criminals, and may be bothering those wearing peculiar watches, or the colours of Blue, Red, Purple, or Orange. You might be one of them: the bothered, or botheree. Many games or movie criminals are some adaptation of these Voidtreckers. A lot of people are worried they’re behind the phoenonem in the sky.
  
  
• Nevertheless, people will still have their own lives to deal with, regardless of worrying events. Play around with what job your character has, if they’re in school, what work they do; if they’re drawn to a night life or just hanging around wherever they like. Characters not used to technology in-canon may find themselves having trouble with this world (despite believing they’ve always lived here).
  
  
• Some of the Voidtreckers who are most resistant to illusions and mind control will be breaking out by the end of the first day. They will have to lay low and plot in secret, figure out how to make contact with others. The SCA comms do not work.
  
  
• Other Voidtreckers might begin having dreams about their past by day 2-3.

DAYS THREE-FOUR:

• Those who have been brought to the world begin to dream of their real and past lives, if just in very small and confusing snippets. Some of those dreams may bleed into reality, and people may start to recognise absolute strangers, but don't quite always know why. This is stronger for Voidtreckers than 4th wallers.
  
  
• Random electronics seem to be glitching in odd ways, particularly the training centres, which lock people in together, even random strangers. Mostly it's harmless and more of a pain. People also swear they think they see the tops of buildings 'glitching' or colouring out. People have been speaking about pets going missing on walks, though the zoos and such are mostly fine, save for some of the higher up bird sanctuaries.
  
  
• More of the Voidtreckers and some of the more resilient guests will begin realising the reality of the place they find themselves in. That this is not their own world at all.
  
  
• The propaganda of the city starts to escalate, warnings about the dangerous voidtreckers and reminding people of how great the city is.

DAYS ONE & TWO: SLICES OF LIFE

---

"This is an emergency broadcast to everyone in Jinnjar City. At 08:00 today, a breach into the city was attempted by the invading force known as the Voidtreckers, who have tried countless times before to take over Diagad for themselves. While it's believed the group was resisted, citizen are advised to watch out for anyone acting suspiciously in the city, and to watch out for this emblem. Please call the D-F-O-R-C-E hotline if you see anyone you suspect of being an intruder! Remember to keep low altitudes while we deal with the phenomenon above."

[ RAINBOW SKIES. ] "Everyone's been speculating about what's been going on up above. About a week ago, these long streams of twisting colours suddenly spread through the purple skies of Diagad, rainbow colours inking the clouds. They've been growing out, like merging with the sky itself, and news broadcasts have been telling people not to worry. But what even are they? They say that looking at them for too long causes headaches, while some swear up and down they've seen things in them! I've heard a couple of friends talking about investigating them, but I dunno..."

▷ Twisting streams of colour are becoming exposed in the sky, and indeed, those who look too long high up will find themselves receiving headaches and dizziness. They’ll fade once you look away, but those who do decide to investigate by getting close will experience a tug, as if something yearns to take them somewhere. There will be patrolling Heroes - this world's equivalent of police - keeping an eye on things. Maybe your character is one of them, or posing as one. Maybe your character wants to learn more about what these are. Regardless, they won’t be able to get significantly close to the streams no matter how high they aim.

[ THE VOIDTRECKERS. ] "Gossip is HOT about these Voidtreckers. I remember seeing a movie about them once, based on something that happened years ago. They tried hacking their way into taking over a dyson sphere being built - like a giant structure around a star. There's other stories about them too, but are they really the ones behind this? Who are we even meant to be on the lookout for? I don't know... I'm kinda spooked. But do they seriously ride around in a flying train?"

▷ You've heard about the Voidtreckers, whether you remember stories about them or not. Are you bothered about them? The news broadcasts say they got rid of them - then why are they asking people to look out? And what are you supposed to look out for? On top of the emblem, there's chatter going on about watching out for people wearing strange devices on their wrists, and wearing colours of Blue, Red, Purple, and Orange.

Will you defend your city from these mysterious foes? Be smart about it, or rash? Or maybe you're interested to know more for your own deeds… whether or not they’re the Voidtreckers of tale, they may have resources for furthering your own goals.

[ LIVING YOUR LIFE. ] “But nevermind all that! Life’s about having fun and hanging out with your friends too. I work part time, but I’ve got plans after my shift’s done! Doing some shopping, going to see a movie. I can’t stress out about the funny stuff going on. And I heard the new waiter in my favourite cafe is suuuper cute!”

▷ Despite the few anomalies going on, you still have a life part of Jinnjar City. You have a job filled with devices that you’ve been surrounded by all your life, or certainly longer than a week or, so you know how to work a coffee machine, right? You know how to drive an air taxi!

And where would you take one to? To anywhere: to the gym, one of the training centres, a spa, to the movies - normal things that everyone around the city have always been around. Meet up with some friends for fruit smoothies, or watch one of the shadow displays held by the Georgi’s Gang around every street, putting on shows to mesmerise and delight the kids.

Or how about buying your groceries to take back to your apartment or house? You know what all these fruits are! Right? Right?

… … maybe it’s produce from another planet.

DAYS THREE & FOUR: JUST ANOTHER NORMAL DAY

[ DREAMS. ] “Dreams are just dreams, but a lot of people have been talking about them. Like, really being disturbed by them? Not in a creepy ohhh a monster’s coming for me! way, but like, they say they see worlds they swear they’ve been to before. Or see people? I wouldn’t really think about it except, there’s this guy… not like a super cute guy, but someone I think I knew…”

▷ Talk about dreams have been popular lately, though not everyone has them - or, not right away. Sometimes people may be at work, in school, doing nothing in particular when a name (important to their real self) appears in their mind, a flash of scenery. Coming as quickly as it goes. They don’t know what it means, if it isn’t just a symptom of the latest weird gossip influencing them.

But it sticks with you, something you can’t completely dismiss. But surely it’s nothing - right?

[ ANOMALIES. ] ”Just what we need! My friend’s dog’s gotten lost! She was taking him for a walk, and then she just says he went running ahead, and poof! Disappeared! Maybe he saw a cat? He’s always been a lazy chubby thing, but even dogs can’t help themselves, I guess…”

▷ The colours in the sky seem brighter today, closer...but it’s difficult to say for some, unless you’re actively studying them. Sometimes when you look above, you might catch - if just for a second - the tops of roofs glitching out, corners or streaks erased, colours meshing with the walls. You think it might be the light or your eyes, as it never lasts long, and even standing around waiting to see it happen again won’t give you what you want.

You may have other things to worry about than tricks of the light. Animals have simply been...disappearing, and always the ones owned, or particularly birds that fly around freely. People will ask you for help, and it’s weird they need to. Most owners have a tracker chip and app, and either apps show a blank map, or show them just standing in place...a place that when you get there, is nothing, no one.

[ TRAINING CENTRE. ]
“Really though, other than the weird sky business and how jumpy the news has made everyone about the Voidtreckers, the only odd thing that’s been up is some weird stuff happening at the training gyms. Even I saw it! I was just doing my warm-ups for the day when the field I set it to, the sky...these shapes suddenly appeared, dark and looming. It seriously creeped me out. But it’s just a glitch, right?”

▷ Young or old, the training centres around the central district are a popular spot for everyone to give their powers a safe space to be unleashed. While there’s basic simulations that’s free for everyone to use, people can be personal trainers, or even run group sessions in the bigger rooms.

Sessions aren’t always linked, since getting private training is allowed. However, lately, people keep getting jumped into other’s sessions, and can’t get out until they finish the routine. Sometimes they’re simple, where you need to destroy building block-esque cubes, or superspeed through courses twenty times. But then there’s also story modes, such as…

Castle Defence: Help protect the castle of Erna from the tricky Voidtreckers! They’re trying to storm the castle, and the world needs your power to help keep them away. Difficulty is based on the amount of people present, and speed of the individual. Do you turn things green? Then turning a Voidtrecker green will make them pop! Good job!

Kama Aid: Floating spheres have been lured inside a giant 3-tiered labyrinth ball. You must help the spheres - come in optional people-shaped or even cute animals - be released back outside where the air is fresh. Use telekinesis to tilt the tiers like a ball tilting game, or use super-strength to destroy the different tiers!

Dia Mysteries: A theft, vandalism, maybe even a murder. The crime scene is locked down, and something is afoot. Use your telepathy to gain information from the suspects, sneak into a secure area under invisibility... the solution is yours to find in this investigative simulation.

[ A PSA or Six. ] ”Stay vigilant citizens of Diagad. Please report any suspicious behavior to the DFORCE force.”

Announcements blare from speakers on public transport. Adverts pop up as they scroll through Diagnet. All remind citizens to be on their guard, report strange or disturbing behaviour and keep a look out for any of the symbols or colours of the Voidtreckers.

"Heroes don't keep secrets! If you have suspicions about any dangerous people in our midst, let your local DFORCE force know. Speak the Truth. Save the World."

▷ Billboards are plastered with bold posters reminding citizens to keep an eye out for the Voidtreckers or anyone who they might have tried to sway to their side. For those beginning to glimpse that this city might not be what they once had thought, this could be dangerous especially if their families and friends believe the city truly is under threat.

[ Aoko is stepping out of her local coffee shop, doughnuts and hot chocolate in hand, when it happens. ]

[ Sand as far as the eye can see. Blue, blue … the endless sky, and the tattered remnants of a scarf riddled with bullet holes. Cold metal in the shape of a hand clamped tight around the back of her neck. She wants to scream. She wants to be sick, she — ]

[ She comes back to herself with a gasp, sitting in a half-collapsed heap in the middle of the sidewalk. Her own hand, small and pale and clammy with sweat, covers the back of her neck like she's trying to hide it; to protect it. ] I — what … [ A deep, shuddering breath, in and out. She's … oh, she's dropped everything, hasn't she? She stares at the puddle of chocolate and cream and half-melted marshmallows, and the sugary wreckage of what had once been some really, really tasty-looking doughnuts. ]

Thank you for calling the office of Dr. Blyght. At the tone, please record your message. When you have finished recording, please consider sending a text message next time, to facilitate easier communication between all parties. Leave your name and number after the awful noise. BREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP.

[Catchall header for 'Jun Blyght''s therapy office shenanigans. Call, text, or have a formal appointment (but probably text) your local psychological doc, especially if you find yourself, for some reason, having issues with your powers that you can't remember ever having before.

Or if you're prefer, stop by the office itself - it's a tiny hideaway in a section of town that's older residences, city townhouses in vertical stacks of rooms tucked into hills. The Blyght office is on the end of one, notable for the wheelchair ramp up the front leading to the office itself, and the tiny square of parking tucked under a weeping tree of some variety that sheds leaves all over the lot. The tree itself is nearly as tall ad the four-story building.

Inside, the office is comfortably modern without being overly mimimalistic, with stairs tucked up next to the waiting room that lead to the apartment above the office. The main room of the office itself is comfortable, not too brightly lit and with a set of comfortable couches and a computer desk that is maybe overkill for the kind of job it has to do. Does a psych office really need four monitors?

Around back of the building, another set of shallow stairs leads down to a garage that plays host to a reasonably well-outfitted workshop, the original driverway winding the long way around the building. Upstairs is the two bedroom townhouse apartment that's home to Jun and, currently, his significantly younger sister. Although there are stairs leading up from the office, most guests to the actual apartment know to come around the back stairs instead.]

2. Off the clock. (Day 2-3 and onward)

[It's hard to really have much of a social life when you're constantly neck deep in either casework, grant proposals, or actually doing the research to back up those proposals, but Jun does have a bit of a social life outside his particularly over-achieving work life.

Admittedly, a solid half of that social life is exclusively over the internet, or at least people he met there.

Thus, when the strange dreams hit, it's mostly to the friends of online handle ghostedMachine that the question goes out - ]

Hey. Had any weird dreams lately?

[ - though of course, people Jun knows in real life might get the text as well, provided the relationship isn't one of patient-and-doctor.]

3. On the streets(Any day but specify which!)

[And of course, it's possible to run into Jun in person if you know his usual haunts. He's the kind of person who buys a day or two of groceries at a time, depending on what he feels like making for dinner on that particular day, or sometimes takeout (more likely takeout if his sister is elbow-deep in a project in the garage, considering it's hard enough getting her to stop to eat). There's enough shops within walking distance of his apartment-office, not to mention the teleport station about a block away, that it's easy to pick something up.

Or maybe you catch him at the university, dumping paperwork on someone with tenure in his department, or maybe signing a little furiously at one of the other professors, especially as the week goes on. Although he's technically employed by the university, Jun's nonverbal status requires an interpreter if he's going to teach a class, since a far cry from 'all' students are fluent in the sign language he uses.

A sign language that fails him increasingly as the days go on, in the university and in the streets - rather than actively remembering things the way other people seem to be doing, it's almost like the knowledge is dropping out of his skull at random. Almost like it was never really there at all.

Aside from periodically experiencing a strong tip-of-the-tongue feeling with his hands, Jun is having a pretty okay time. However, he's got an increasing feeling that he's missing something, something that's like walking around with earplugs in all the time, failing to hear something that should really be there...]

Day 2

[Ken is less having trouble with his powers and it's more that he's comfortable talking through text. He'd been heavily traumatized when his mother had been killed in a car accident, and he'd latched onto another boy in the orphanage. Thankfully, they'd been adopted together. Unfortunately, trauma can't be fixed just by being adopted.]

Days 1-2

Thanatos Baker is the younger twin of Ryo Baker. He's a law student at one of Jinnjar City's universities. He spends a good amount of time studying. This could be in a park while his pet mouse, Mort, scurries nearby. Thanatos can be found studying in a cafe called Just Sayin, and perhaps in one of the odder places to study, a bar called Knickknack Knockback Bar.

When he's not studying, Thanatos can be found participating in the local library programming: reading to your pet. Again, with Mort. In fact… is it strange that someone is going around the city carrying a pet mouse on his shoulder?

Sometimes, he zones out during his rather peaceful life. He looks at Ryo, and the name "Hypnos" echoes in his head. Or he'd be participating in a mock trial, and he sees the judge's desk change to something like a menancing great hall with a large ominous mosaic behind it. (The hall is maybe not nearly as decorated but someone wasn't going to unequip everything just for a 4th wall reference) Sometimes, when he uses his life powers to do some healing or coaxing plants to grow... he's struck by how unnatural it feels.

Days 3-4

The illusion is losing its hold on Thanatos. This life is too nice, too wrong. Furthermore his watch changes to a different device with a red strap, and he's wearing a crystal pendant he's never seen before. Thanatos didn't have much interest in the Voidtrecker stories. He was busy with other things, but... now he's starting to worry. He needs to learn more about these Voidtreckers for completely different reasons.

Thanatos feels like he's gaining a new sense of the world, something heavy and grave. He's always been a bit of a klutz, but he feels like he really has trouble keeping his feet on the ground. His fingers itch for something just out of reach. There's a pull towards... Thanatos doesn't even know.

The world has bits of instability around him. What is going on?

DAY 3...

Katsuya didn't take long to break out of his illusion. He's had practice with these things. Maybe too much practice, in fact. A false life?

He's had plenty.

It pays off- well. Not really actually, because now he's left scrambling in an attempt to fit in long enough to figure out what the hell to do.

He can see the pendant though, and he latches onto that like a lifeline. "Huh!" the blond calls, sleeves long enough that they're covering his palms for whatever reason, but one hand pointing toward the pendant. "Neat! Cool necklace," he shouts out, pulling his own pendant from under his shirt. "...We match!"

Living Your Life, Day 2:
Takato had decided to hurry home after school. It wasn't that he was worried about the Voidtreckers, exactly. He knew that everyone said they were dangerous... But everyone said that Guilmon looked dangerous too, and he knew that wasn't right.

He was actually kind of curious about them.

But with all the worrying that was happening now... It was getting a little hard to block it all out. He'd never been particularly good at that part of his powers, anyway. So after a long day at school with everyone worrying, he was starting to get a headache.

Hurrying home, he calls a quick greeting to his older brother before heading to his room to find Guilmon.

Dreams,Day 3:
Takato had taken advantage of a nice day to go walking in the park with Guilmon. Takato never got tired of showing his friend all of his favorite places in the city, and this one they hadn't been to in a while. Takato had just gone to wave at a friend in the distance, when an image suddenly comes into his head.

A park, just like this one, still green against a backdrop of red heat. But it was dying even as he watched. And approaching him, a face that he thought he should know. But it was wrong, stretched out with a malicious smile that didn't belong on her face.

And in his head, a name. Juri.

Takato lets out a gasp and staggers back, nearly falling.

Dreams

Mimi was taking her time returning home. This was uncharacteristic of her, but she had a lot on her mind. The dreams... the visions... were like an itch in the back of her mind that she could not reach. And then there were the loss of the seagulls. Just what did it all mean.

Takato's gasp was the first thing that broke her from her reverie. Despite everything that was going on, she could not turn away from someone in need. A pair of arms shoot out to steady him from completing the descent. "H-Hey! Are you alright?"

[Living Your Life]
Regardless of what's going on with the sky, life goes on. Dr. Hajime Aikawa still has things to do and classes to teach. He's a professor at the university, and he's got both a couple of intro-level biology classes and higher-level graduate classes on his plate today. There's no time to worry about the sky. He barely worries about watching where he's going; he's trying to do too much at once and may inevitably walk into someone...or a wall. There's a time and a place to read scientific journals! While you are walking between classes is not one of them.

There's time to worry about his family though, what with that and all the fuss over Voidtreckers. He really does need to check in with them after the day's classes are over.

[Dreams]
The dreams Hajime's been having lately have been not all that great, really. They're rather violent for his tastes. Sometimes, he's an armored mantis warrior with compound vision fighting monster or other buglike figures in similar armor, but other times, he's what he can only describe as a large beetle-man on a rampage, determined only to fight and destroy. Sure, he loves bugs, it's a running joke that even his blood's unusually buglike, but that did not mean he wanted to be a bug. He shouldn't be trying too hard to figure out exactly what sort of bug, but he can't decide if it's a longhorn beetle or a cockroach or some unholy fusion of the two or something that defies conventional entomology (probably, it is a dream after all), but it's something to think about to distract himself from the worry everything else brings with it. There were flashes of people, true, but nothing was as of yet sticking out or flat out bothering him as much as being a mindless monster searching only for battle. (Maybe...maybe he could try thinking of that one guy? The cute one? But…bug.)

It is with a tired sigh that he slumps into a booth at a coffee shop with an extra large cup of coffee and an armful of papers. Might as well do a little bit of grading while he's here, get out of the office. As he sips his coffee and grades his papers, he appears completely unaware that there is a rather large insect just hanging out on the side of his head. It's likely unsurprising to those who know him, but to those who don't, it might be a bit of a shock.

[Training Centre ]
Usually, Hajime doesn't bother too much with conventional training in a gym. His powerset, talking to insects, is not at all conducive to being a physical participant in a confrontation, and it often relies upon what happens to be around him at any given time. (Did you know people kind of get upset if you bring a box full of cockroaches into any given environment when it's not actually an emergency?)

Unfortunately, he ends up accidentally getting roped into a round of Castle Defence. He is standing there, staring down at his hand, which is palm up. His hand contains the praying mantis he'd smuggled in, seven ants, two fleas, four gnats, and a housefly. "Uh, so. Yeah, I might have a problem here." And, when the mantis decides to make a snack out of the housefly, "You stop that!" So he's got one satiated mantis, seven ants, two fleas, and four gnats.

Okay, no more time for standing, gotta dodge that enemy blast.

News of those voidtreckers has put Willow on alert, but not enough to lose her focus during her falconry lessons and at the hospitals dealing with patients, some of which are impatient while she tends to any injuries and she is glad to be out early for the day. Even with a lunch for her brother!

She gets a couple smiles walking down the halls as she smiles back, and fortunately in time she sees Hajime with a nose in a scientific journal, though she lets him walk into the wall.

"You should know better than to be reading while walking." There's a laugh as she says this, and then a sigh while shaking a brown bag by her head. "Hungry?"

Days 1-2

Jinnjar City supports a great orphanage where this "alien child" affectionately nicknamed "Little Ghost" lives. They do not speak, but they use shadow powers to create their own pictures or letters to communicate. They also try charades, but those have less luck as they're very tiny for a child and just seems a little... creepy. Despite being so young, they have no fear of being out and about by themselves, especially in places a child shouldn't be. Their motto seems to be curiosity and then whacking it with a cardboard tube they carry around. Collecting small shiny objects seems to be their hobby as well.

Days 3-4

That desire to whack things with a cardboard tube grows stronger. They especially seem to find the color orange offensive, showing great distress at seeing large amounts of the color. Little Ghost has strange recollections, and they suspect that this is all a dream. Yet... they don't seem bothered by that fact either. They'll help others out when the opportunity occurs, but they are used to just doing things mostly on their own.

Day 2, morning

There's a lot to be said about Jinnjar's lone orphanage, yet most of it goes unnoticed. Especially now that media outlets exclusively only play headlines that warn them of the Voidtreckers, the dangers of interacting with known villains that are ready to invade Diagad at a moment's notice.

He won't disagree that public safety is a priority, but to ignore the plight of children? Their well-being? That, he cannot abide. Dutifully, he takes time out of his day to sign-up for a quick trip to the orphanage himself; part of his extra credit for Public Healthcare & Sustainable Social Infrastructures, and mostly to satisfy his own desire to help the kids in the city.

Roland can only offer lessons at this point, but any manpower is good to have says the headmaster at the orphanage. Especially for one of their more infamous charges, with powers that make things hard to predict. Thankfully, Roland can use his own powers to see ahead and avoid any mishaps. Maybe, even make a connection. This is how he finds himself knocking on the door to the said child's bedroom. It's unlocked, but Roland isn't the type to barge in.

In his hands are coloring books, puzzles, and a variety of materials for them to go over according to the kid's preference.

"Hello? Anybody there?" He says, voice steady against the other end of the door. "Little Ghost...?" Doesn't he have an actual name, though? Or did the orphanage just give that to him without a second thought?

The Great Detective at Work, Days 1-4:
Shinichi usually preferred to stick to unsolved crimes. His skill with talking to ghosts and his extensive network of contacts, both living and dead, had helped him to acquire a nearly perfect record when it came to solving the unsolvable.

Applying all of that to trace rumors of voidtreckers? Not really his preference. But that was what the DFORCE was insisting on, so he'd just have to put up with it for a few days.

Shinichi sets off to investigate. He starts by checking with his living contacts throughout the city. Shinichi being Shinichi, some of them were on the shadier side of the law. After that its on to the ghosts. Usually the ghosts had a much better idea of new changes to the city, but oddly this time they seemed just as confused as anyone else.

All the while, he keeps an experienced eye open for anything out of the ordinary. If there was something odd happening here, he was ready to investigate.

At Home :
Shinichi was working longer hours than usual, due to the situation. On the second day he comes home late he makes an attempt to sneak into the house without waking any of his sisters.

Dream, Day 3:
By the third day, Shinichi had looked into the situation enough to be aware of the dreams some people were experiencing. That still hadn't been enough to warn him for when he experiences one of his own.

It hits him while he's sitting at an outdoor cafe getting lunch. He freezes and stares blankly at the table for a long moment.

"An amusement park?" he wonders aloud. "But what does that mean?"

And that means competition. Joss doesn't like competition.

The little boy takes another bite of his burger. "What's this about an amusement park?" he asks around a mouthful of ground beef and cheese.

[A park bench, a tipped-over briefcase, a lazy sprawl; Edward Geraldine watches the sky, head hanging over the back of the bench, arms and legs splayed. Not the most dignified position for a man in a suit and tie, but he's exhausted. So what if his tie is purple? He likes purple! It has nothing to do with any of this nonsense!]

[At the sound of an approaching person, he groans, shuts his eyes, and lifts one fist in an utterly nonmenacing threat.] If this is about my tie, I will figure out who you are and make sure twenty back years of your taxes are audited.

Day 2: Cheap Human Tricks

[Edward idly spins the jar of marbles, glancing around at the others in the bar, daring them to challenge him. No one does, of course -- at least, not any of the the people who know him here. Edward has never once missed a guess, if you could call his perfect estimation of numbers 'guesses'.]

[Not at all surprised at her loss, the girl who'd passed him the jar nods to the bartender, who pours Edward the beer that had been wagered against his skill. Accepting at is his due, he hands back the jar of marbles, then spreads his free hand.]

Day 3: We Remember

[That is the noise of one Edward Geraldine running face-first into a streetlight just outside the driveway leading up to his Dream Home(tm).]

[He stumbles back, one hand stuck out to rest on the pole and support him, but in truth he barely even notices the pain. Not when something, something very important, had just flashed through his mind. But -- what the heck had it been? A faint hint of strange colors, and something odd...?]

I. Rainbow Skies

It's hard for Merwen to really resist looking up at the sky. It's just kind of fascinating, sort of beautiful, and as she pauses to look up for a bit, she frowns a little.

"Voidtreckers. I wonder if they're as dangerous as they say." There's a healthy degree of scepticism in her voice. "Oh? Oh, did you see that? For a moment I thought..." She trails off, uncertain.

II. A PSA on Public Transit.

The speakers are starting to wear on her. Merwen rubs her temples, shifts uncomfortably in her seat. This is just... it's too much. And she doesn't like it. With all the strange dreams she's had... she's not sure what dangerous might be. Is she dangerous?

And maybe her gaze drifts and catches on a face that's somehow familiar though she can't think where she might have seen them; her expression, when she's caught staring, is startled and a little frightened.

Casper is very happy with his home situation. Sure, Willow isn't his biological mom, but she's way better than he used to have before she rescued him. He notes that there's a lot of unrest in his high school, but no one seems to have any real idea of what to do or if the announcements were even describing something that happened.

Fictional characters don't come to lie, right? That'd be dumb. He heads to the arcade after school before swinging over to the library to volunteer for a few hours.

His housing situation isn't the most conventional, but it works. V and Willow treat him with respect and don't look down on him like he used to. ... He doesn't like thinking about how it used to be.

Instead when he gets home he sets up at the kitchen table to do his homework, cursing mildly at the math parts of it. At least he's' not totally blanking - he knows how to do it, it's just annoying.

He's not sure who else is home... but they should probably remind him to eat.

It takes until the middle of the first night for Casper to wake up suddenly and muffle a curse. He's infiltrating. Or he was, until he woke... himself up? That's strange. He closes his eyes and focuses on the mark on his back, trying to get in touch with Moon.

... No answer, but she's cagey at the best o times anyway.

He does his best to get some sleep (it's not much) and the next day he starts asking his friends in school about dreams. ... He's surprised his counterpart has friends that don't immediately mock him for it, though it's not helpful when none of them say they had.

Time to go asking at the other cliques in school and watch for strange activity at the arcade and library. He can't go breaking his 'routine'. Not yet. He has to watch and wait.

Days 1-2

Nory Mbari's parents work at the aquarium, so when she's not at school, she's spending her time hanging around the aquarium looking at all the sea creatures. Her body is in constant motion, swaying one way and then the other. Sometimes she listens to music or reads a fashion magazine, but it seems like she wants to be active.

"Hey! How's it swimming?" It doesn't matter if she knows you or not. Nory is super friendly and cheerful.

Days 3-4

The training center seems like a fun and happening place to be as she defend the castle Erna. Ink manipulation makes it really easy to turn those Voidtreckers green. However, after training, Nory feels... conflicted. There's something that gives her some major deja vu here. Everywhere.

"Maybe I've been hitting the games too hard..."

So, Nory does what any other kid her age would do go shopping and look at all the freshest fashion around. She might even ask a stranger how she looks in an outfit she's trying on. "What do you think? Can I rock this style?"

Hanging around the aquarium

Things started out innocently enough. Her super hero team was called to save some demented mad scientist from using aquatic sea life for taking racy pictures of celebrities lounging on the beach and in their condos. Of course, Mimi K. Octoling wasn't a part of the protection force. No, she was a part of cleanup, bringing back wayward sea life to the safety of their homes.

But it was on that day that she met... her.

Since, she had been coming back like clockwork ever Thursday after school. Mimi would always be at the same spot -- the squid tank -- and would be standing silent for nearly half an hour. Whenver Nory came by, Mimi would cast wayward glances in her direction. She was so fresh. She helped out at her parent's acquarium... was genuinely friendly to the visitors... moved around so gracefully... ahh...

So many times she wanted to walk up to her and say something and she choked just as frequently. Last time it looked like Elroy was even walking up to her, only to instead chat to a mom and child that was standing nearby. It was just as well because the excitement of that near encounter caused Mimi to flee just as quickly.

No, this was fine. This was good. This was...

...her just asking a question. Directly at her. She was standing there for the past five seconds waiting for her answer. Oh cod. Oh cod. What the shell should she say. What the shell should she say. "...the sky?" THE SKY? IS THAT EVEN WHAT SHE ASKED? OH COD WHY DID YOU GO WITH THAT DAD JOKE? LORD KRILL HER NOW AND END HER.

[The vibrations shivering through the ground are not crippling. They tend to shake things, maybe make them slide across a desk or table just a hair, but Orisa is honestly a very light step, thanks to rapid adjustments absorbing much of her motion-force into her servos and recapturing it rather than discharging it straight into the ground.]

[This is good, because renowned hero Orisa is about five stories tall and even longer horizontally. This might be horrifying... if she were harder to like and trust.]

Good afternoon, citizens! I hope you are all doing well! [She always has a friendly wave for anyone she sees, especially children who find her most remarkable indeed.] Do not worry about the news. We are on patrol, and if we see any of these Voidtreckers, they will regret coming here!

Day 3: Error

[Sensibly-sized today, her growth/mass dynamos offline for duties that didn't require them, Orisa paces slowly down the sidewalk. Ostensibly, she's looking for a cat -- the tracker app she'd loaded with its info beeps in her phone, but she knows what she's going to find at the end of it. Nothing. No one. Definitely no pet. Instead, questions.]

[Questions such as: why does she not have an integrated phone and tracking system?]

[She's an om--robot, why shouldn't she have that sort of thing, and why does the wrong word keep coming to mind when she self-identifies her species?]

[Something is very wrong indeed. And that knowledge has Orisa looking at everything, and everyone, with that much more suspicion. Someone must have some answers.]

Guardian Force Day 1

[Elsa was locking up her store for the day, a little worried over the talks that have been happening lately. As soon as she finished locking up she went to turn to start walking back home but instead comes across the hero Orisa.

She honestly felt a tiny bit better at seeing them.]

I am doing well and thank you for being on patrol. I was honestly getting worried. But I can relax a bit knowing the heroes are out there.

[The strange colors in the sky are distracting. Naoto has a hard time not glancing up at them all the time, but he has a job to do. He has to keep his attention on the ground. There must be some festival planning going on that he isn't aware of. He'll ask headquarters about it later.

The patrolling hero adjusts his cap and checks his watch. Just another half hour sitting on this street before he gets to move on. Someone had reported suspicious activity earlier in the day, but so far he's seen nothing.

This is his least favorite part of the job, and not what he signed up for. If something doesn't happen soon, he's going to call it quits early and grab lunch at the park.]

ii. day two. the voidtreckers.

[Are you wearing a fair amount of blue, red, purple, or orange? Then Naoto might be approaching you with suspicion. If the Voidtrecker logo is visible, then there's no "might" about it.]

Excuse me. I'll need to see an ID.

iii. day three. anomalies.

[Outside of an apartment building, Naoto stands with an empty cage in his hands. His eyes seem blank as he stares through the bars into the enclosure. Slowly, almost mechanically, he unlatches the door and leaves it swinging open as if this will invite the former occupant to return.

Something about this empty cage, aside from just the fact that his bird is missing, seems to be bothering him greatly. He ignores the rest of the world around him.

In his mind he sees a set of stairs, hears the sound of a gun being fired, and then he's falling...

He gives a start, blinking back into reality, and tries to turn his attention skyward only for the colors to immediately hurt his eyes. If his bird is up there somewhere, he's never going to be able to see it like this.]

iv. day four. dia mysteries.

[There's a reason Naoto isn't a detective. He'd purposefully chosen a position where he there would be more physical action. Or at least the potential for it. Solving mysteries was for people who wanted to be in the shadows almost as much as the criminals they were hunting down.

Which is why he's so confused upon finding himself in this simulation.]

What is this program? [He mutters this to himself before adding more loadly:] I asked for a target course!

Officer. [ Roland nods stiffly. ] What's this about? [ Pretty high-strung from a 20-year-old. He wants to make a dry quip, but he holds his tongue. Roland understands the job requires him to screen indiscriminately. Especially now as the city goes on high alert. ]

Day 1: A Day in the Life

"Hyaaaha ha ha ha ha!"

The front window of the bank burst open, as the sound of an alarm and a tall domino-masked figure both breached it. Clutched in the figure's hands were two sacks, both inscribed with comically-large dollar signs and slowly spilling cash cards. That seemed somehow unsatisfying, but hey, don't sweat the small stuff.

The figure immediately accosted the nearest person. "Hey you! Hand over your valuables or I'll bludgeon you with this sack of cash cards!"

Day 2: Also A Day

Feet up on the balcony railing, kicked back in a deck chair, with a cloud of thick smoke wafting upwards from the grandiose cigar caught in the corner of his mouth, Zed Loverord was very much posing to advertise just how kickass his life was as a man, father, CEO of Capital Regency Investigation Mutual Endeavors (LLC), and overall better-than-you guy. Today, he was in business casual, as his appeal of the judgment against his Hawaiian shirts was still working its way through the legal system. (He didn't care how appropriate the tickets actually were, they didn't literally violate noise ordinances.)

Being just the sort of classy guy he was, he knew everyone who lived around him and the kid -- which meant that any time he saw one of them, he yelled out a greeting that was more smug that friendly. Did he ever even actually do any work? (Answer: see first prompt.)

Look, sometimes Persephone wonders what his company really does. She wonders a lot if he does anything, if he set it up on purpose to just toodle along in the background while he does whatever he likes. It's hard to say. It's harder to say how a freshly graduated biologist ended up here, on an internship that she's pretty sure isn't even needed. Does his company do anything with environmental things? She doesn't look too closely, a job is a job, but you know, sometimes she wonders.

Even more of a mystery is how she ended up here, smiling up at him from beneath the balcony, her hood up over her hair, wings unsummoned, as nondescript as a woman with bright magenta skin can get.

"Smoking is going to kill you, you know?" She tugs at the strings of her hoodie and raises an eyebrow, "Terrible for the environment too."

At Work

It was a secret to no one that Leia had opinions about the current administration, many of them negative. She would have likely run for office herself, but anyone with powers that could directly affect people's minds or emotions was disqualified from such to ensure a fair election. This latest business with the supposed 'Voidtreckers' only served to reinforce her views considering the administration's tendency toward paranoia and overreaction, much to her annoyance.

Still, she did what she could do, namely instructing the future voting citizens of Jinnjar City and Diagad. In class they had discussed and debated the 'Voidtrecker question' and while opinions from her students had varied, Leia had given them the same instructions she generally did when faced with such situations. Don't buy into hearsay and paranoia, think critically, use their brains to tackle a problem before they used their powers, and question authority. No government and no authority figure- including herself- should be unable or unwilling to face questions or criticism.

Her last class of the day as over, but she was working at her desk, finishing up some lesson plans for the next day. As was usual during such times, her door was open to students and faculty who needed to talk to her.

Errands

Being a parent meant that the end of the work day didn't mean the end of work to do, as she stopped by the supermarket to buy that week's groceries. But even there she couldn't get away from rumors of the Voidtreckers. Really, being suspicious of people just because they happened to be wearing a certain color of clothing? It was ridiculous; half the city could be implicated if those were the only grounds, including herself. She happened to like blue, thank you, and would wear it if she wanted. And as for the symbols and devices they supposedly wore, if any of them actually were around, it wouldn't be difficult to conceal a symbol or hide a wrist-worn device in a pocket. So any Voidtreckers that might be around would have little difficulty blending in if they had any sense at all, and all the supposed 'tells' were for naught.

She sighed as she passed by two employees- either on break or slacking, she couldn't tell which- gossiping with each other, and shook her head, returning to her grocery list. She had things to do and had no time for this nonsense.

All in all it was a relief to get home and set the bags of groceries down on the counter. "Naja, Allen, Jaina," she called out. "Will one of you come help me put these groceries away? And what do you all think about ordering out for dinner tonight? Today was a long day, and pizza delivery is sounding better to me by the minute."

It had been fun the first time. Now he's just kind of going through the motions. The worst part is he still has to do many of the repairs he's advertising for once he's done doing the actual advertising.]

Computers, televisions, VR devices - we can fix practically anything!

Ma'am, I'm.... there's a fee for looking over...

[Sion's protests are ignored as a woman shoves a device in his face. It isn't working, she claims. He poor Mr. Bear (who is apparently a cat) should be able to be tracked through an app she has, but he isn't showing up.

The poor young man tries to gently move the device away with one hand.]

You'll have to talk with the people in charge of the app about that. That's not my area of expertise...

iii. day four. a psa or six.

[The blaring over the speakers causes Sion to look up every time with a frown. If just wearing certain colors is going to make people suspicious then there are going to be false accusations all over town. That seems like a poor way to go about things.

He glances down at his own clothing, hoping he hadn't dressed in too much blue that morning without realizing it. But no, he was actually wearing his favorite green shirt with the white silhouette of an owl on the front. Nothing suspicious about that.]

Are they trying to cause chaos?

The skies of Jinnjar are filled with strange, swirling colors today. But through the windows of one home, all that's visible is the morning light streaming gently through the bedroom curtains. And as Cassie stirs, all she's willing to look at is the man laying next to her. She leans over his shoulder to kiss his cheek.

"Morning, hubby."

It hasn't even been a fortnight since they got back from the honeymoon, but she can't imagine this getting old anytime soon.

Training Gym

It doesn't matter what's going on, or why. Cassie's not going to panic. Neither snow nor rain, nor rainbow skies, nor train-hopping lunatics from another dimension will keep this instructor from her appointed lessons.

She'll be pleased to know you've made it, as the lesson will be extra vigorous today. No, it has nothing to do with the rumors about the Voidtreckers, stop asking.

"Hi, Cassie." She plops into one of her desk chairs to bring up a monitor and review some footage. Her hair still moves, but not as much. It's corded and more whips around to shift things rather than do fine detail work.

She's paying for that now. Her body is exhausted. She could fall asleep where she's sitting she's so tired.

At home- Working on a project

Lea stood back from the partially finished sculpture on his worktable, looking it over with a critical eye. "Maybe a little more that way?", he said to himself. "Or if I bend this piece over here... No, that's not it. Hmm..." To get it to bend properly, he knew he'd need to apply a bit of strategic heat with the torch, but where and for how long was critical. His powers might let him manipulate metal easily, but he was still limited by the physical properties of the material itself; heating it was necessary to create the shapes he wanted in metal this thick, but too much could leave the results misshapen and make further work for himself when he had to redo it. Best to be careful with things like this.

At home- Cooking

Lea hummed softly to himself as he worked, stirring the soup pot on the stove in front of him. It wouldn't be a very heavy supper, just soup and sandwiches, but if anyone was interested he planned to go out for a bit later; they could grab a late snack on the way home.

Out and about- Night on the town

Lea and anyone he'd managed to round up hit the movies. He was undecided between 'Snowpocalypse'- a movie about a group of people whose world was in the grips of unending winter thanks to an asteroid impact and their struggles to survive-, 'Dancing in the Flames'- a supposedly 'based on a true story' feel good movie about a girl with fire powers who sought to set the world on fire with her dancing skills instead, and eventually triumphed-, and The Keys to the Kingdom'- a fairy tail about a group of adventurers on a quest to gather three magical keys that together unlocked a long lost artifact that could save their kingdom from certain doom-, so he let his companion be the deciding vote.

And after the movie, it was a hunt for someplace that was still open that they could grab a late snack. Pizza? Tacos? Ice cream? Ramen? The late night munchie possibilities were endless.

Day 3

At first it seemed like nothing, just a weird daydream. An image of a sunset viewed from high up, looking out over a peaceful town and its surrounding landscape. And in stark contrast, a creepy-looking floating castle sitting above a dark city and against an even darker sky. Had he seen something like it in a movie or something? It took him a moment to realize he'd zoned out, but when he did, he shook his head, turning his attention back to his companion. "Sorry, kinda zoned out a minute there. What were you saying?" He tried to dismiss the images and focus. ...But why couldn't he?

Day 4

It was the names that began popping into his head that brought him back to himself. Isa. Roxas. Xion. He counted himself lucky he hadn't been doing something that made his sudden return to himself immediately dangerous, like driving, but as the memories slammed back into place he realized two things. One: this could only be the work of the illusion-creating entity. And two: they were in big trouble.

How many of the other Voidtreckers were here? All of them? Just a few? And if and when he found them, how was he supposed to let them know he was himself again without putting them all at risk?

"Smells good." Kairi sniffed the air slightly as she stood there having just come back from cheerleading practice so she was still in her uniform currently.

"So it's soup this time?"

[Stinger can't help wanting to look upward, no matter how much it gives him a headache to do so. He knows staring at the sun isn't good, but this is so much more beautiful. It just draws him in - or upward, rather.

Where is it coming from? Are there dangerous chemicals in the air? Is it holograms? Magic? It will be too difficult to go about his day without learning something. He can't be the only one seeing it.]

Hey. [He turns his attention to passerbys.] Has anyone tried flying up closer to that?

ii. day three. dreams.

[Plucking idly at the strings of a guitar, Stinger leans back against the bench he's sitting on with a sigh. What should he play today? It feels like he's been playing the same few songs forever, if only because he's the most familiar with them and doesn't worry about messing up in front of a crowd.

An odd tune comes to mind, something he seems to all at once remember and yet something he's sure he's never heard. He starts to strum the tune, lost in thought.

Then at last he starts to sing it out loud as he plays. He doesn't know this song. There's no way he's heard it before. And yet there it is, sung completely without hesitation. Is this what it's like when a muse comes to someone? Does he have more of a gift for music than he ever imagined?

iii. day four. training center.

["Kama Aid". Is this the game he signed up for? Stinger is positive it isn't. As much of an existential crisis as he's been having lately he's positive he'd put in the information for castle defense. Puzzles are fun and all, but he'd really been in the mood to beat something up.

He stares at the sphere with a frown, wondering if this is what the other person in here had signed up for as well. Is this system malfunctioning?

Kama. Something about the word accompanying this large round shape is bothering him. Kama. Kama.

Tama. Kyu-tama. Stinger briefly looks to his wrist as though expecting to see something there, only to immediately be confused as to why he had. He shakes his head.]

Alright. Let's get this over with.

[ Lena has been looking at the sky a lot today herself, even though she knows she shouldn't. But even if she had thought about getting closer, she didn't really have any way to do that.

She's about to turn away when she hears the question, and she glances over at who was speaking. ]

I. Day One - Kerberos Security Consulting, LLC

[Zag learned a lot of... unconventional skills from his Supervillain father, one Pitch Black, throughout his young life. Picking locks, hacking into vital computer systems, sighting tripwires and security cameras, and of course, brute forcing your way through a concrete wall if necessary. And now fully grown, Zag has turned that into something quite useful to even the most normal Jinnjar citizen! So much so that he's known for more than just being the son of a notorious retired Supervillain! You may have even been given one of his business cards:]

[Zag's job tonight is much the same as every night he gets contracted to stress test a superpowered security system - break in, see how far he can get, and take notes on the whole process to offer suggestions and pointers. He's already made his way to the most feasible entry point, and is working on picking the lock, or hacking the keypad, or opening up the ventilation shaft with as little noise as possible.

Perhaps you're a well-meaning Hero patrolling with DFORCE or patrolling on your own, and mistake him for a villain trying to sneak in and rob a place? Maybe you're one of Pitch Black's old rivals, and know in your gut his grown son must also be up to no good? Maybe you're working later than usual, and happened to ignore the company memo the boss sent out about a security specialist coming for an inspection overnight at your office. Or perhaps you're part of the security of the workplace yourself! Either way, Zag is not about to let a mishap like this affect the quality of his work.]

II. Day Two - Out and About (AU times catch-all)

[Of course, Zag has a life outside of his work, especially since he enjoys being out during the day unlike his spooky father. He's always been fond of wearing various shades of black and red, so that's nothing new, but it may be suspicious to anyone freaked out about these supposed Voidtreckers in their midst. Of course Zag will deny anything of the sort!

Regardless, he can be seen around town, getting a cup of coffee, walking his three dogs and one goat on leashes around town while enjoying a delicious plumegranate smoothie, or catching one of Georgi's Gang's shadow displays and boasting that his dad used to make these for him all the time when he was young.

(Please, please don't ask about the goat. Or do! The dogs are friendly, at least.)]

III. Day Three - Rocky Montage

[The training centres see a lot of regular foot traffic, and Zagreus is one of their regulars. He has to keep his powers sharp if he's going to keep using them for his job! And so he goes through his usual training regimen of some speed trials, strength training, and fine motor control on his flame powers, when suddenly he finds himself... not quite out of his training program, exactly, but like it merged with another program partway through finishing his.]

What the hell-? Did it just glitch out?

[He spots the person he's now apparently sharing a training regimen with, and makes his way over on light feet, giving a little friendly wave.]

Hey! Seems there's been some sort of a mix-up, and my training session's integrated with yours, somehow. What settings are you using, mate?

IV. Day Four - Just in time for Brunch (CLOSED to Pitch, Hecate, Persephone)

[Zagreus finishes out his night shift working another security contract, only to go to the grocery store that very same morning and gathering what he and Persephone will need to prepare the usual once-a-fortnight family brunch: peachentines for fresh-squeezed juice, vegan bacon (for Persephone), regular bacon (for Pitch), eggs and cheese for cheesy scrambled eggs, another tin of coffee grounds (because Pitch is almost out), and some more flour for pancakes. Of course Zag also throws in an extra pack of sodium-free turkey bacon for the dogs, because he will never not spoil them rotten.

He shoots a quick text to the family group chat, letting them all know he's on his way home with The Goods. Then he boards the train home, and dozes off just long enough to catch a glimpse of an underground palace before the station bell rings and jolts him out of his dream.

... did he hear a woman call his name just now? His full name? Surely not. Nobody but his father calls him that.

Either way, Zag takes his hefty sacks of groceries out of the station and into his neighborhood, quickly finding his way to the door of the sprawling ranch house he calls home. (Funny how they managed to get a giant greenspace attached to their home, due to the neighbors mysteriously leaving after complaining of nightmares and those houses going up for sale dirt cheap! Zag's honestly thrilled that the dogs and horses - and yes, even the goat - get to wander around such a nice acreage.) He pops open the door with a shoulder nudge, holding the groceries above his head as the dogs swarm him for the promise of bacon.]

Dad? Auntie Heck? I'm home!

[He will immediately take all the ingredients to the kitchen so Persephone can get started on everything except cooking the bacon - that's Zag's job, of course. He's never been the cook of the family, but he can at least fry all the various types of bacon!]

Day Four

You don't need any help, do you? [Certainly her nephew is a strapping lad, well equipped to take care of groceries, but it's at least polite to ask. It's quite possible he hears a bit of a scrabble--Auntie might have brought some of her papers to grade. Nevermind her house is right across the acreage. Hecate pops in whenever she wants. Sometimes literally, thanks to her teleportation ability...like now, where she's just popped into the kitchen.]

Does anything need to go in the fridge right now?

In the shop

Walking into Razzle Dazzle, one could be forgiven for wondering if they hadn't actually stepped into a shop, but rather had stumbled into someone's grandmother's parlor. Knick-knacks, tchotchkes, antiques, and assorted brick-a-brack was set out on everything from a heavy wooden dining table, to an unremarkable set of mass produced bookshelves, to what looked like it had once been a barber's stand, all seemingly with no rhyme or reason. But a closer look revealed that all the items were well kept, and that each had a price tag. And sticking around a little while would reveal that the various seemingly random furniture and displays seemed to invite people to linger and browse, to discover some new fascinating or whimsical piece that they didn't know they wanted or needed until they stumbled upon it. Even the lighting added to it, the windows covered in gauzy curtains that gave the shop's interior an almost ethereal feeling.

And the shop perfectly suited it owner. Madame Razz, or just Razz, was little old woman dressed in almost floor length magenta and mint green robes and peering out from behind glasses that made her eyes look huge and round. Her pale pink hair always hung wild, her bangles clinked gently whenever she moved, and somehow there always seemed to be several white butterflies fluttering around her, though they always evaded any attempt to touch them. Most often she could be seen sweeping the shop floor with an old-fashioned whisk broom, but occasionally one could actually find her behind the counter.

Either way, when she noticed someone come in, her reaction tended to be a warm one, and today was no exception. "Welcome, dearie!", she said as the little bell above the door jingled, announcing the arrival of a potential customer. "Feel free to look at anything you like. Just be careful not to trip over Broom; he gets underfoot all the time, you know."

On the street

Everyone assumed that Razz had an apartment somewhere, but if asked no one could say they had ever really seen her leave the vicinity of the shop. But she did step outside occasionally, whether it was to sweep the sidewalk outside it- still with that old whisk broom- or to water the flowerbeds that ran along its front wall. Today, however, she was doing neither of those things. Instead she was looking up at the sky, peering intently through her round glasses as if searching for a distant object among the swirls of color.

It had been ages since she'd been here last. Or that was how it felt. It always a little like coming home when she arrived. She felt that way with a lot of places, but this one felt like it more. Perhaps because this was where she had just landed.

Ava never carried much with her, a sack on her back being all she needed. She let herself into the shop and smiled from behind her mask and one of her few true friends.

Park Day 1/2

Some of the announcements are concerning, but Wash still has a four year old who has a lot of energy so they can't really skip out on their daily excursions when he's done work.

Especially since little Rose keeps running up the sides of the structures. Not the parts that are meant to be climbed. The sheer bits.

Wash has more or less accepted his lot in life and starts filming with his phone.

Training Gym Day 3

All the warnings are making Wash a bit nervous, but he'd already scheduled this appointment. Usually the training centre is a little calmer when he brings Rose by, but people seem interested.

He's a bit surprised to end up in a group scenario and can't help laughing. "You want me to stop Voidtreckers by making their clothes itchy?"

It's basically the only trick he has, but still!

Park Day 4

Their next park outing seems like the rest. SUre, Rosie woke up from her nap babbling about ink animals on the ceiling, but kids have weird dreams all the time. It wasn't even a nightmare, probably just some cartoon she watched at daycare.

Except then Rose puts it together and runs over to her father. She makes a face as she tries something...

And then starts crying. "Daddy!"

Whatever she was trying... did not work and now despite Wash's assurance that he's still here, the little girl is distressed.

Park Day 4

A little girl yelling for her father immediately grabs Yondu's attention. Even if he's starting to realize what's going on? He still goes to see what's going on.

His girls aren't really his girls, but Peter wasn't his boy and he's still very much a dad, and an occasionally over-protective one.

"Y'all doin' alright over here?" he asks as he approaches them, haggard face all twisted up in concern.

[Marvelous has rarely been known for his subtlety. He's not after the Voidtreckers to fight them. (Well, not officially. He won't turn down a fight if it happens.) But he's very curious and very fearless.

So if anyone happens to be wearing too much of any of the colors on watch, the man might just reach out and try to grab that individual by the arm.]

[Castle defense? When had he asked to do anything with castles?

Still, he hasn't tried this program yet and he can always use a fight to let off some steam. Marvelous cracks both his knuckles and a grin. What will they be fighting? Monsters? Soldiers? Each other? There's at least one other person in here.]

[If these announcements are going to keep going off and annoying the crap out of him, then he's going to have a couple announcements of his own.

Somehow having gotten hold of a loud speaker, Marvelous raises it to his mouth and begins talking immediately after the other speaker is done.]

Talking about keeping secrets while leaving us mostly in the dark seems a bit unfair. I'll give anyone 50 points if they bring one to me instead!

Elidibus | Final Fantasy XIV | 4th Wall AU

[OOC: Elliot Stiller is a research coordinator of an independant company. What this means is that people hire the company to research, gather, and compile data on a subject. This could be anything as basic as workforce trends for business solutions to statistical data used for various thesis. Elliot specifically tends to lead a team, take all the collected data and arrange it into the final user-end product.

Elliot is also a superhero who works closely with D-Force as 'The Lightwarrior'. A very archaic looking but effective 'Knight in Shining Armor'. People outside his family who know Elliot as The Lightwarrior are limited even among D-Force but are not unheard of.

Elliot has been under a lot of strain lately because his brother was in a pretty critical accident. Albert has been recovering and is working on physical therapy and regaining fine motor skills. He's been work at home for his research job, so seeing him in his regular commute haunts will be surprising.]


1. Voidtrekkers [Day 1-4] [OTA, Criminals, Trekkers. Will likely be transformed and unrecognizable as 'Elidibus']

Rumors and hearsay may have made many make light of the Voidtrekker 'myth', but Elliot would not be so lenient. If there was even a chance an invasion was imminent, he would seek to root it out and take care of the problem.

With distinct finality. He would not let anything threaten [his family] the people of this city and its sanctity.

Thus of late, The Lightwarrior has been a more prominent presence in both the news and on the street. Sightings, encounters and teaming up. While the hero's drive seems to be for hunting down any Voidtrekkers, he will not overlook other dangers.

Those familiar with his hero persona would recognize a level of intensity which had not been present a week ago. He seems almost driven to save people. Almost... recklessly so. No few times, The Lightwarrior might be seen hesitating; not to strike with deadly force as typical of his altruistic image, but to hold back from striking.

It's a dangerous time to be seen as a criminal.



2. Commute [OTA]

Elliot sometimes does have to show up at the office, either to collect hard-copies, do a check-in with the owner or any number of small tasks. Usually he went straight to where he needed to go then straight back home without stops in-between. People understood. After all, anyone that's worked with Elliot has known the close bond the triplet Stiller siblings have and when his brother Albert got in the accident...

But for the first time in week(s?), the bell of a favored bakery cafe chimes and in walks the familiar figure of the young researcher. For the first time in a while, he was smiling with a relaxed expression. It'd been a while since he thought he could bear the sympathathetic looks and the 'how is your brother doing' that so often follows a crisis like they went through.

Finally, there's good news rather than more of the uncertain same.

"The usual, if you would," he requests at the counter.


3. Breakfast of Champions [Closed to WoLFam Q'uila and 4th Wall Ardbert]

It was not meant to turn out this way.

The unmistakeable scent of burned bacon and toast hangs in the air. Elliot is ignoring it; the hastily opened window will absolutely dispel part of the evidence hints that he's up to something.

He can't mess up the beverage at least, thanks to the conveniences of modern technology.

Elliot hasn't missed a day of work. But recent events have had him working from home; seeing him out in the kitchen for any length of time has... has been unusual, right? Yes, ever since the accident, he had thrown whatever free time he'd had into making sure he didn't have free time. Driven, between the mild-mannered 9-5 and working with the D-Force as the Lightwarrior. Any other time was dedicated to being at his brother's side or getting convinced, finally by Kelly to take some time to rest.

Except that all changed. Yesterday there had been an actual conversation. And it was like the weight of the world had momentarily lifted from Elliot's shoulders.

This has led to the morning's efforts, though by all accounts, the somewhat extra crispy bacon and the charred toast and maybe a tiny bit dry omelette has suggested his mind's not been as focused on the task as it should have been. But there's enough for three and places will be set at the dinette, complete with loaded plates.

Albert's may show signs of precut egg and other helpful arrangements like serving size portions of condiments, but that much is reasonable.

And despite the airing of the kitchen, there's probably plenty of signs that something's up that particular morning. All that's needed are two of three siblings to complete the scenario.

Albert's improving. Walking straight, talking clearly, and taking care of the basics he's been able to do for a while, he's only really started feeling like himself in the last few days. Sure, he still has poor spatial awareness, clumsy fine motor skills, and vivid senses of touch, taste, and smell, but he can handle those.

This last week, his recovery has been more of a sprint. He had forgotten so much about life in general, and suddenly, he's starting to remember. Albert had an entire conversation with Elliot where he didn't have to ask what Elliot was talking about even once. He just knew. Old concepts that hadn't been explained again to him yet didn't need explanation. His memory had already remarkably improved in general, but this had been a major missing piece of the puzzle. Spontaneous recovery, rehab had called it.

It's not gone when his alarm wakes up today, either. Albert is ecstatic. Maybe he won't have to ask about basic things anymore! It doesn't take him long to put on a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt, and he takes a moment to simply admire the softness of both across his palms and fingertips before heading downstairs.

The smells of burnt bacon and toast greets him (he remembers what that smell is!). He wrinkles his nose as he approaches the kitchen, but all thoughts of teasing the culprit whilst complaining fly out the window when he sees it's Elliot in the kitchen, not Kelly. Elliot cooked breakfast!

His eyes trail to the loaded plates on the table. That's going to taste a bit awful, but he doesn't care. Elliot cooked breakfast, mostly successfully.

Albert looks up to his brother and his pleasant surprise blossoms into a brilliant smile that reaches his eyes. This is a normal moment! Normal. Elliot often burned things when he was distracted, sure, but the distraction must have been a pleasant one judging by the way Elliot's carrying himself for the moment.

"You cooked breakfast!" Albert strides up to his brother and wraps his arms around his waist, lifting him up a bit in a great big hug; half to annoy him, half to enjoy the fact his twin will indulge his even greater appreciation for the wonderfulness of being able to give and receive affection. "Sort of!"

Grocery

After a day at the garage, there are still errands to be done. That last hovercar had had a bit of a strange engine with a few parts that she didn't recognized, but she'd made the situation work.

With assorted niblings likely to show at her house whether they actually live there or not, and a standing policy to welcome any strays that happen by, she tends to make meals that can scale quickly when she's suddenly feeding more mouths than expected.

There's also a quite nice cake. It's not every day her son is home from touring, after all.

Home

It's wound up being quite a bit. SHe figures having her son home will probably lead to other people, after all. And they were out of a surprising number of staples, she needed to fix that.

She's barely in the door when she calls out. "Everyone will eat faster if they come help put groceries away!"

Everyone should know that rule by now.

Training Gym

She's not sure what to make of all this Voidtrecker talk. But there are countless reasons to make sure everyone is well versed on the use of their powers. And she can help people learn that.

She's gathered a class together for this one. "We're going to be trying a new scenario today."

If nothing else, Voidtrecker talk is leading to some interesting exercises.

Hardware Store

She's picking up parts for a personal project when she happens by the paint aisle. It's not on her shopping list, but she picks up a can of vibrant orange spray paint.

"Sabine will want this..."

And then she blinks. That's not one of the kids. Sure, she occasionally calls a nephew by her son's name or the other way around, but she does know the names of all the young people in her life. Not a Sabine among them.

She puts the can in her basket anyway.

Grocery

Best that Gen could determine, they'd been trapped in these fake lives for a couple of days, now - unless he and his husband had lost more time than they realized. Still. There was no time to lose, now - they had to figure out what was going on, and how to solve it.

With all the warnings about Voidtreckers, however ... just because he recognized Hera immediately (she was hard to forget!) he still needed to be cautious.

Fortunately, there's something that would catch Gen's attention no matter what - whether or not they're on mission, on the train, with their memories, or without them.

"That is a lovely looking cake, my dear," Gen remarked, giving the dessert in her shopping cart a covetous glance.
