"Welcome to Jinnjar City! A city famed as the central power of all of Diagad, and where the magic happens. It has a big history: the birthplace of the first Heroes Association that led to the creation of the Interstellar Justice Alliance, the protectors of the universe. Compared to other places, Diagad's what many people call a superheroes world, but that isn't true. A lot of us don't have the crazy powers that some of the popular folks have! And people like me? We don't care about saving the world! I'm just trying to make it through school, hang out with friends. Live my life!

People tell thousands of stories about us though, and that I can be proud of. When other planets call for help, it's us that comes running to their aid. Our heroes put their lives on the line for anyone who needs a hand, and sure, I don't count myself one of them... but I want to share their story anyway.

Well, I don't need to be telling you about this city, do I? You're a part of it! Always have been, just like me. So I should talk about some funny stuff that's been going on lately instead…”

A TL;DR notes version of days/prompts: (click to show)

EVENT BASICS: Un-apped AU characters were taken 1 week before the event from their own worlds, their minds altered to believe they were always from Jinnjar, Diagad. They have a superpower because of this and a new life either living alone or with family (other NPCs or PCs). Go to the OOC post for more info.

DAYS ONE-TWO:

• Strange streams of colour in the sky have appeared, and looking at them for too long causes strange headaches. At this point you’re not sure what they’re about, but you can investigate them. However, trying to get right close to them is impossible. You will never get high enough. Regardless, let us know if characters will be investigating anything!
  
  
• Voidtreckers arrive, be on the lookout. People are excited about finding these infamous criminals, and may be bothering those wearing peculiar watches, or the colours of Blue, Red, Purple, or Orange. You might be one of them: the bothered, or botheree. Many games or movie criminals are some adaptation of these Voidtreckers. A lot of people are worried they’re behind the phoenonem in the sky.
  
  
• Nevertheless, people will still have their own lives to deal with, regardless of worrying events. Play around with what job your character has, if they’re in school, what work they do; if they’re drawn to a night life or just hanging around wherever they like. Characters not used to technology in-canon may find themselves having trouble with this world (despite believing they’ve always lived here).
  
  
• Some of the Voidtreckers who are most resistant to illusions and mind control will be breaking out by the end of the first day. They will have to lay low and plot in secret, figure out how to make contact with others. The SCA comms do not work.
  
  
• Other Voidtreckers might begin having dreams about their past by day 2-3.

DAYS THREE-FOUR:

• Those who have been brought to the world begin to dream of their real and past lives, if just in very small and confusing snippets. Some of those dreams may bleed into reality, and people may start to recognise absolute strangers, but don't quite always know why. This is stronger for Voidtreckers than 4th wallers.
  
  
• Random electronics seem to be glitching in odd ways, particularly the training centres, which lock people in together, even random strangers. Mostly it's harmless and more of a pain. People also swear they think they see the tops of buildings 'glitching' or colouring out. People have been speaking about pets going missing on walks, though the zoos and such are mostly fine, save for some of the higher up bird sanctuaries.
  
  
• More of the Voidtreckers and some of the more resilient guests will begin realising the reality of the place they find themselves in. That this is not their own world at all.
  
  
• The propaganda of the city starts to escalate, warnings about the dangerous voidtreckers and reminding people of how great the city is.

DAYS ONE & TWO: SLICES OF LIFE

"This is an emergency broadcast to everyone in Jinnjar City. At 08:00 today, a breach into the city was attempted by the invading force known as the Voidtreckers, who have tried countless times before to take over Diagad for themselves. While it's believed the group was resisted, citizen are advised to watch out for anyone acting suspiciously in the city, and to watch out for this emblem. Please call the D-F-O-R-C-E hotline if you see anyone you suspect of being an intruder! Remember to keep low altitudes while we deal with the phenomenon above."

[ RAINBOW SKIES. ] "Everyone's been speculating about what's been going on up above. About a week ago, these long streams of twisting colours suddenly spread through the purple skies of Diagad, rainbow colours inking the clouds. They've been growing out, like merging with the sky itself, and news broadcasts have been telling people not to worry. But what even are they? They say that looking at them for too long causes headaches, while some swear up and down they've seen things in them! I've heard a couple of friends talking about investigating them, but I dunno..."

▷ Twisting streams of colour are becoming exposed in the sky, and indeed, those who look too long high up will find themselves receiving headaches and dizziness. They’ll fade once you look away, but those who do decide to investigate by getting close will experience a tug, as if something yearns to take them somewhere. There will be patrolling Heroes - this world's equivalent of police - keeping an eye on things. Maybe your character is one of them, or posing as one. Maybe your character wants to learn more about what these are. Regardless, they won’t be able to get significantly close to the streams no matter how high they aim.

[ THE VOIDTRECKERS. ] "Gossip is HOT about these Voidtreckers. I remember seeing a movie about them once, based on something that happened years ago. They tried hacking their way into taking over a dyson sphere being built - like a giant structure around a star. There's other stories about them too, but are they really the ones behind this? Who are we even meant to be on the lookout for? I don't know... I'm kinda spooked. But do they seriously ride around in a flying train?"

▷ You've heard about the Voidtreckers, whether you remember stories about them or not. Are you bothered about them? The news broadcasts say they got rid of them - then why are they asking people to look out? And what are you supposed to look out for? On top of the emblem, there's chatter going on about watching out for people wearing strange devices on their wrists, and wearing colours of Blue, Red, Purple, and Orange.

Will you defend your city from these mysterious foes? Be smart about it, or rash? Or maybe you're interested to know more for your own deeds… whether or not they’re the Voidtreckers of tale, they may have resources for furthering your own goals.

[ LIVING YOUR LIFE. ] “But nevermind all that! Life’s about having fun and hanging out with your friends too. I work part time, but I’ve got plans after my shift’s done! Doing some shopping, going to see a movie. I can’t stress out about the funny stuff going on. And I heard the new waiter in my favourite cafe is suuuper cute!”

▷ Despite the few anomalies going on, you still have a life part of Jinnjar City. You have a job filled with devices that you’ve been surrounded by all your life, or certainly longer than a week or, so you know how to work a coffee machine, right? You know how to drive an air taxi!

And where would you take one to? To anywhere: to the gym, one of the training centres, a spa, to the movies - normal things that everyone around the city have always been around. Meet up with some friends for fruit smoothies, or watch one of the shadow displays held by the Georgi’s Gang around every street, putting on shows to mesmerise and delight the kids.

Or how about buying your groceries to take back to your apartment or house? You know what all these fruits are! Right? Right?

… … maybe it’s produce from another planet.

DAYS THREE & FOUR: JUST ANOTHER NORMAL DAY

[ DREAMS. ] “Dreams are just dreams, but a lot of people have been talking about them. Like, really being disturbed by them? Not in a creepy ohhh a monster’s coming for me! way, but like, they say they see worlds they swear they’ve been to before. Or see people? I wouldn’t really think about it except, there’s this guy… not like a super cute guy, but someone I think I knew…”

▷ Talk about dreams have been popular lately, though not everyone has them - or, not right away. Sometimes people may be at work, in school, doing nothing in particular when a name (important to their real self) appears in their mind, a flash of scenery. Coming as quickly as it goes. They don’t know what it means, if it isn’t just a symptom of the latest weird gossip influencing them.

But it sticks with you, something you can’t completely dismiss. But surely it’s nothing - right?

[ ANOMALIES. ] ”Just what we need! My friend’s dog’s gotten lost! She was taking him for a walk, and then she just says he went running ahead, and poof! Disappeared! Maybe he saw a cat? He’s always been a lazy chubby thing, but even dogs can’t help themselves, I guess…”

▷ The colours in the sky seem brighter today, closer...but it’s difficult to say for some, unless you’re actively studying them. Sometimes when you look above, you might catch - if just for a second - the tops of roofs glitching out, corners or streaks erased, colours meshing with the walls. You think it might be the light or your eyes, as it never lasts long, and even standing around waiting to see it happen again won’t give you what you want.

You may have other things to worry about than tricks of the light. Animals have simply been...disappearing, and always the ones owned, or particularly birds that fly around freely. People will ask you for help, and it’s weird they need to. Most owners have a tracker chip and app, and either apps show a blank map, or show them just standing in place...a place that when you get there, is nothing, no one.

[ TRAINING CENTRE. ]
“Really though, other than the weird sky business and how jumpy the news has made everyone about the Voidtreckers, the only odd thing that’s been up is some weird stuff happening at the training gyms. Even I saw it! I was just doing my warm-ups for the day when the field I set it to, the sky...these shapes suddenly appeared, dark and looming. It seriously creeped me out. But it’s just a glitch, right?”

▷ Young or old, the training centres around the central district are a popular spot for everyone to give their powers a safe space to be unleashed. While there’s basic simulations that’s free for everyone to use, people can be personal trainers, or even run group sessions in the bigger rooms.

Sessions aren’t always linked, since getting private training is allowed. However, lately, people keep getting jumped into other’s sessions, and can’t get out until they finish the routine. Sometimes they’re simple, where you need to destroy building block-esque cubes, or superspeed through courses twenty times. But then there’s also story modes, such as…

Castle Defence: Help protect the castle of Erna from the tricky Voidtreckers! They’re trying to storm the castle, and the world needs your power to help keep them away. Difficulty is based on the amount of people present, and speed of the individual. Do you turn things green? Then turning a Voidtrecker green will make them pop! Good job!

Kama Aid: Floating spheres have been lured inside a giant 3-tiered labyrinth ball. You must help the spheres - come in optional people-shaped or even cute animals - be released back outside where the air is fresh. Use telekinesis to tilt the tiers like a ball tilting game, or use super-strength to destroy the different tiers!

Dia Mysteries: A theft, vandalism, maybe even a murder. The crime scene is locked down, and something is afoot. Use your telepathy to gain information from the suspects, sneak into a secure area under invisibility... the solution is yours to find in this investigative simulation.

[ A PSA or Six. ] ”Stay vigilant citizens of Diagad. Please report any suspicious behavior to the DFORCE force.”

Announcements blare from speakers on public transport. Adverts pop up as they scroll through Diagnet. All remind citizens to be on their guard, report strange or disturbing behaviour and keep a look out for any of the symbols or colours of the Voidtreckers.

"Heroes don't keep secrets! If you have suspicions about any dangerous people in our midst, let your local DFORCE force know. Speak the Truth. Save the World."

▷ Billboards are plastered with bold posters reminding citizens to keep an eye out for the Voidtreckers or anyone who they might have tried to sway to their side. For those beginning to glimpse that this city might not be what they once had thought, this could be dangerous especially if their families and friends believe the city truly is under threat.

I. Working 9 to 5

The mall was a hive of activity, as shoppers bustled about making purchases and socializing with their friends. One of the store fronts had been made up to look futuristic with a backdrop of black with electric blue beams crisscrossing in various directions that completely blocked the interior from view. The name of the establishment was simply "Jinnjar Laser Tag".

"Looking for some adventure?" A sweet voice called from beside the entrance. A girl with a ruffled mop of hair was standing there, wearing an outfit more conducive for physical activity, a basic pair of slacks, a blouse with ruffled sleeves and a curious looking vest that covered up most of her chest. She was toting a plastic laser gun that was obviously a fake despite the attempts of theming. A pleasant smile graced her features.

She could also be found already inside, either engaging in laser tag herself, climbing a stool to reach the equipment that was kept behind the counter, or ringing people out. It was debatable that she was even old enough to hold down a job but no one seemed to question it. The laser game itself could be set up between teams of players or targets could be manifested with convincing holograms.

II. A day in the zoo

There was just something about going to the zoo that filled Adena with joy, even if there were some animals there that were less friendly than others and those that purely wanted to be set free. There were others still that seemed to relish the security, the constant supply of food, and of course their semi-regular visits with the peculiar girl that could understand them with clarity. The animals were as diverse in their personalities are humans were.

Outside of work, she still liked to wear dresses to differentiate herself from her twin brother. So as she stood inside the humid biodome that held the exotic birds she pretended not to be sweltering from her fashion choices, her arms outstretched to allow more birds to perch on her. A few parakeets had already taken to each of her shoulders, a cockatoo took up most of her right arm, and a toucan bobbed as it cawed emphatically on her left.

"... I can understand being upset, but I still don't think there's any need to hold a grudge."

To the casual observer she might appear crazy, but it was just that there was a whole other conversation unfolding that no one else could discern.

The cockatoo chimed in with squawks of it's own.

"One at a time please. I'm not sure why the peacocks get to roam more freely.. but I don't think it's because they have superiority complexes."

Then finally the parakeets cheeped almost in unison.

Adena giggled and shook her head. "We've been over this before, I'm not a bird myself... and there is more to the world beyond this enclosure."

Feel free to run into her anywhere if you like, talking to all manner of animals.

Yugi had gone to the zoo mostly for inspiration for writing and understanding movements of animals, the way they behaved and just to be able to create a world for a story.

The only downside was the fact the zoo was a very public place and Yugi couldn't help but feel more than a little anxious about being here. But he had some work that needed to be done and it was going to get done regardless.

He could feel himself getting tense as he made his way to where the exotic birds were currently. It was something he needed to do especially since the movement of birds he could never quite get right.

But as he entered he instead saw something else. Was he at all surprised someone was talking to the birds? No, after all, most people had powers so he could at least assume that was the case, or simply just like talking to others like they were friends which were something he was used to.

But he couldn't help but feel awkward, he felt like he should say something, but he didn't want to come across as rude either. So after fidgeting with his notebook for the past two minutes he finally said something.

"Are they having a disagreement?"

[The infamous regenerator, Salamander, knew that the claims the Voidtreckers were under control were a hoax the moment she heard them. Nobody put out an APB like that for a situation that was already handled. So she set out, ready to apprehend these dangerous criminals. Sure, it might get bloody, but people up North were used to seeing her in various states of horrible injury by now, not that it stuck.

However. By the end of the day, Salamander could be seen in a different costume. A red combat dress rather than the lizard-like armor that was her staple. She was still hunting the Voidtreckers, but now for a very different reason. Best of all, she could still do it openly. After all, heroes changed costumes all the time, and it's not like she was dressed like a Voidtrecker.]

[ When Day 2 rolls around, Kyoko's prolly done a bit of hunting in both ways. But there's something happening today! Somebody calling out to her. ]

Well, familiar to the old Kyoko. It's doubtful that Salamander has ever had a reason to visit a place like this.]

I. Home away from home

At the bookstore, Silvia found herself unable to keep herself from pulling her own works off the shelf to peruse them with a satisfied smile. Sure, she had known that she had finally made it when contracts were signed and she acquired an agent but it was different to finally be able to feel the book in her hand and run her fingers over the spines.

One by one she delicately returned them to their place on the display, smile not leaving her lips as she gazed on them with such pride. The publisher had insisted on including a picture of her on the dust jackets but it was small and hidden on the inside. Someone would have to crack it open to the back cover to see it so she should be in no danger of being recognized.

II. Another curtain rises

Unconcerned about the potential threats of these nefarious Voidtreckers, Silvia decided to swing by the theater to see what was playing. As her eyes canned the marquee she debated which of the selections she should try conning her girlfriend into seeing with her. The enthusiasm ebbed slightly when she noticed the latest entry for another Apocalyptic title.

"Maybe... I can convince Bakura to watch something from a different genre this time." Said while debating and biting her lip.

It was so hard to suggest anything else when she knew just how much the other enjoyed such things. Watching others in despair was more like watching a comedy for her significant other. How many of these movies had Silvia endured?

"Oh well- there's always popcorn.."

Eventually, these sorts of movies would have to fall out of favor and then they could finally see something else because seeing Bakura happy was all that mattered.

There was something about books that was rather calming. Being able to live in a fantasy world and use one imagination at times. The writers were always so creative in the young woman's mind as her fingers gently traced the bindings as she was looking for a particular book.

"There is just so many books to choose from. How do you decide what you want to read?"

Goku had been getting coffee as he overheard the conversations of people worrying about these Voidtrekkers.

“You know how many times we’ve heard about them and nothing happens? Please! I mean, if they’re so dangerous, why haven’t they won once?”

Goku was… disturbed. Things seemed to have been fine one day, but two nights later, something hit him.

A name. A person… or rather people…

“‘Gohan’… why does that sound familiar?” He asked, confused. “It’s no one I know and yet…”

Yosuke is just trying to make it through the day. He's not the ambitions one in the family, he's more blue collar than that. He does whatever work is required at the training center - need an area cleaned up? No problem. Need someone to run the desk? Sure, though he's not great with people. Did something break? He's no technopath, but he'll do his best.

Just don't ask him about the glitches, because he has no idea.

Life isn't all work, though - he does spend time out and about in the arcades, at the movies, at the mall...

... It's just a shame he has to do it all with thick leather gloves on.

Sometimes he relaxes at home, waiting for another shift or just making sure his bothers are all right. Asch is fine (usually), Rich is... less so. Still, even if the three of them are different from each other in a lot of ways, they still care about each other.

[i dream and i wake up]

Dreams aren't something he pays attention to. He's no psychic, just a weirdo with a touch that withers and kills. Still, he keeps hearing the name 'Reiji' as he wakes up, or suddenly seeing a flash of black armor in his mind. The sound of bells, or the smell of herbs.

He flinches when it happens, he stops dead in his tracks and holds his head. Ugh...

He feels frustrated that it took him this long. Otoha is not great with mental stuff, despite having breezed through a good few of the trials. He keeps trying to go around and act like nothing's wrong, but some people who know him probably can tell that there's something very wrong in how 'Yosuke' is acting.

When Allen realized he had felt more than a little stupid. Mostly because after all that training it still took him this long to clock on. But then it brought on a even better question.

What the hell does he do next? others still seem to be trapped and it seems like he would need to do this in a more clever way. But then a reminder that if he started to act differently that might seem odd too.

So channeling his inner Kanda he will be trying to do. At least the first person he has seen he didn't recognize as someone his alternate self would have known, so he could maybe pull it off a bit better, or not at all.

"Keep telling yourself your fine, that will make everything better." He felt bad about saying that honestly and his body language does falter a tiny bit because of it, but he soon puts the act back on.

[ Around Town: Days 1-2 ]

Garie isn't necessarily a unique sight around town - despite being an artificial lifeform designs like a lifesized doll, there's certainly others in similar situations around. Not many, but some. Sure, she clinks like a musical box operating as she moves, and her doll-like joints are obvious in her knees visible under her maid skirt, but there's no reason to stare. You've all seen people like her, right??

"Ugh, so annoying," she grumbles loudly, noticing somebody spending a couple seconds too long looking at her. "You need something?"

[ Training Centre: Days 1-4 ]

Garie's job wasn't exactly glamorous: The training centres were serious pieces of tech, so they needed monitors. And Garie wasn't one of those, she was one of their assistants. Her usual job consisted of running around grabbing various readings, tools, and tiny snack food.

She puts on her best Customer Service Smile (pictured in icon) when she runs into any customers. "Excuuuse me~ Worker coming through! Widdle ol' you wouldn't want to get in my waaay right?" Okay it was a little condescending. Or a lot.

But there are legitimate reasons to stop her. Customers have been known to request her as a sparring partner when she's free (she's surprisingly strong?) And if it's day 3 or 4, there might be a glitch to worry about...

Whatever your reasons though, better get into it fast, before she starts getting annoyed.

[ The Home Stretch: Days 1-4 ]

Do you live with Garie? If your name is Bracken, yes. Or maybe you're a neighbor coming over to visit or grab some sugar. It happens, since everybody more or less lives in the same neighborhood. This is your chance to bother Garie at home.

Just FYI, when she's not actively up to something, Garie has the weirdest idle pose, standing on one leg with her other leg out behind her and both arms gracefully arced up, like a ballerina. What the fuck Garie?

Or maybe you catch Garie somewhere else. She shops sometimes, but mostly if she's out and about it's wandering for wandering's sake. She likes hanging out in shady alleyways too, like a hoodlum in a maid dress.

Training Centre: Days 1-4

Entrapta is sitting at a research station, watching the participants and her corded hair moving around items on the desk. Each end capped by little metallic clampers.

She looks up when Garie enters and gives her a happy, "Hi, Garie!" Like she's known her for years. She has, right? She totally has known her. She's her good friend. Well, in Entrapta's mind she's her good friend and maker. Who knows what Garie actually thinks of her.

She probably should actually stop her from fighting sometimes when asked. But, she doesn't! It looks like she's having fun, so why bother?!

"Anyone interesting over in the other classes today?"

I. LIVE!!

".. Now that's more like it!" He shouted to the crowd gathered in the amphitheater as they chorused back the words of the current song on request. Running from one end of the stage to the other, Atem gestured energetically to the crowd getting them fired up, the area erupting with cheers of adulation interspersed with the melody. There was a microphone clasped in one of his hands that he sometimes raised to his lips. Once satisfied, he fell back to center stage, and resumed the performance.

As the music neared completion, the instrumentals taking precedence with electric guitar mingling with synth, lights flashing, Atem waited for just the right moment, because completing his performance with a stunning back flip that lined up near perfectly to the final cacophonous note.

Then with hands outstretched skyward he stood that way until the lights dropped, and he could retreat backstage. Once there he made a beeline for a waiting water bottle, cracking it open and drinking the contents greedily, before sealing it back up.

II. Can I have your autograph

After a short respite, Atem headed out to the table that had been set up so he could greet his adoring fans and sign his name to whatever they chose. It had already been a long night, but it wasn't likely to die down anytime soon. Sure he was charismatic, trying to charm everyone he spoke to but it was obvious that he might have an ego the size of the grand canyon.

"Yes I know it's such a privilege to meet me".

III. The need for some down time becomes great

When Atem finally stumbled into the high rise apartment building it was literally that. His coordination was off, he smelled of an cocktail of perfumes he hadn't originally and of alcohol. The after party had been worth it, in his opinion, even if he would end up with a killer headache tomorrow and not wake until well past noon. If only he had a better grasp of which apartment was his. Fumbling with the locks as he staggered down the hall chuckling, he would just let himself in to whichever door gave way, either startling it's occupants or joining them in their own bed without realizing the error or not caring.

A bed was a bed, and if someone else was in it that was just an added bonus.

Gilbert himself was still currently out on a job so his apartment was rather quiet. But there were however ravens all about the apartment, cawing as soon as they noticed the door was opened. One going as far as to fly out of an open window.

Where was it going, who knows. But the second raven was just going to keep cawing.

I. Day In The Life - OTA, about town

James Buchanan goes about days one and two not worrying all that much about these "Voidtreckers". What kind of a dumb name is that, anyway? Probably just another supervillain group trying to hard to make a name for themselves, right? Besides, he's got things to do.

He works the first half of the day on construction and repair around the city, rebuilding structures damaged in fights or accidents with powers. Between the metal arm, steady no matter what, and the metal manipulation powers, he's pretty good at his job. It's exactly the right kind of hard work to make him feel useful.

Then there's lunch, a brief nap at home, and a trip to the training gyms where he doesn't practice: he teaches. Anyone who wants advice, hands-on training, simulation support, or coaching in elemental manipulation or physical combat can bring him in, and he'll set the lantern he carries everywhere aside to help. He's gentle, patient, a genuinely good teacher, and works best with kids and people particularly unsteady in their power-- but he won't turn up his nose at a challenging spar, either. Look out for his arm turning into knives, or his knives turning into metal whips, or your own weapon working against you if it happens to be made of metal....

Then he goes home to the light of his life, his wife and daughter-- or maybe to a full family dinner including his brother and sister, and really, life's pretty great.


II. Night Life - OTA, about town after dark

After nightfall on Day Two, he heads out after dinner for a night with "the guys" at "the bar", which basically means his vigilante club. He swings by the bar first, checking in with the barkeep and his friends there.

Then he goes out and hops around rooftops and alleyways looking for troublemakers, wearing a mask over the lower half of his face, a black leather vest, the shutters closed tight on his lantern, and plenty of pointy metal bits. More often than not, he's interrupting petty theft and assault, and he scares the evil-doer off, though once or twice there's an actual fight in the offing or someone who needs tied up. The DFORCE police can find people the next morning caged up in a metal park bench or a streetlight.


III. Dreams - Closed to close CR/family

James wakes up the morning of the third finding himself, instead of curled up with Misty, plastered against the far wall. It's been... a long time since he's done that. There's unpleasant things in his past, but the nightmares have been over for years. And none of their nightmares have been like-- that.

Their?

He stays on the floor, wedged in the corner, a ripple running up and down his metal arm. "What the hell."


IV. Anomalies - OTA, about town

The rest of the day James feels... off. Memories of the dream keep intruding-- other thoughts keep intruding-- he keeps almost hearing things that don't sound like him in his own head-- More visibly, he almost loses control over a metal stream in the morning because someone calls him "James" which is his goddamn name why does it make him flinch? His afternoon nap results in more awful dreams, and the story modules in the training gym make him deeply, deeply uncomfortable. Even worse when some poor kids wind up glitched into the one he's running with one of his students, and his first instinct is to protect them from the illusion. From each other.

He winds up calling out in the middle of the afternoon and going to the bar instead. And if none of his friends are there this early in the day, he'll text them to invite them. Feeling down. Wanna come hang out? :)


V. Awakening - the Buchanan house, closed to close CR/Family

After a night where he can't sleep in his actual bed with his actual wife and has to curl up miserably on the couch, he's cranky and jittery and feels deeply like something is wrong. So they call out of work (But that feels wrong, too, if I'm not useful then I'm failing and if I'm failing then there's no reason to even be here and-- and that's not healthy thinking, where is that even coming from-- From you, you dumbass. Listen! Wake up! Jesus Christ!)--

He paces restlessly around the house all day. If anybody comes looking for him, or is already there because they live there, he just paces around them. "There's something wrong," is all he'll say without a lot of prodding.

Training
Elianne Neya is probably a semi-regular at his training sessions when they line up with his schedule. The twenty something year old young cop is happy to learn, to spar, and even to trade tips and tricks but it would have been clear from early on why she showed up as often as she could.

The children.

Her face, so guarded the rest of the time softened whenever she saw them. Kids who weren't learning to fight because it was fight or die. But for exercise, or because they were planning to be cops like her, or were heroes. Kids who were learning to fight as a choice, not a necessity. Healthy kids, better fed than she was then. ****s better fed than she was now. She'd happily tap in when he needed a hand demonstrating a hold or a throw for the kids. A few of them she seemed to know from outside the lessons, and those few piled on her and seemed to see her as a combination of toy, climbing structure, and big sister. Those... were the kids he had from the local orphanage.

He could even tell that she tried very hard not to curse around them. And it was clear it was actual effort.

She came in ready for the kids and a bit of a workout, and realized... the kids were gone. She was late. "***** it all!" she growled.

The cat on her shoulder looked amused.

"I'm too **** late, aren't I?" she asked him, looking *****ed at herself.

Cats feature heavily, but so do bears, weasels, and owls. Duck into an artist's collaborative space and you might find him, staring at a chunk of stone or wood with a sketchbook in his hand, doodling ideas before he starts to use his power.

Hands to the sky

Detective Neya was on a patrol, keeping an ear to the ground for repercussions from her last case, and hoping that if she gave the sergeant enough time, he'd assign her to the lights in the sky case when she stopped. She had past the area on patrols before; but nothing had ever caught her eye unless it was related to a criminal investigation.

But for some reason seeing him sketch her hand started to move and she had to stop herself. She found herself glancing at him as she withdrew her hand, and the look on her face was pure confusion. Why... had she expected his eyes to be... "What the actual *****s?" she muttered under her breath so confused. She stepped back, forcing her hand down. "Sorry," she mumbled.

The cat on her shoulder seemed to almost roll his eyes as he mewed at her.

"How the ****s should I know? And... I'm talking to a cat, **** it. No more cheap ale, Neya," she muttered to herself.

Not that she could afford the good stuff.

Ballroom Blitz [OTA BAR FIGHT BAR FIGHT BAR FIGHT]

Yondu is not a bartender. He manages, he cuts deals, he finds ways to make it work. He doesn't tend bar. Today he's a patron at his own establishment for whatever reason. He felt like it? Actually he can't remember clearly when he first started coming here. That's all real fuzzy.

He's trying to pull it up from the recesses of his mind when a sturdy middle-aged woman slides over, what visible tattoos she has obviously moving as a part of her powers, and pulls one of those 'so do you come in a flavor or are you like that for decoration' lines. And he would have been down, except what he assumes to be her former significant other strides up behind her to give her a piece of his mind. So now there's an argument, and he's just ignoring it. But then there's her punching him, and before Yondu can tell her to hold up and calm down there's some other man jumping in and yelling about how he knew she was no good and he should have seen it the whole time.

Yondu easily pushes his barstool away from the bar to dodge a blob of water from someone's powers (why does that remind him of something?) before he scoots it back up. A moment later he's lifting the beer off the bar 'cause asshole number three in the situation (not counting himself) just got flung down the length of it. He takes a drink as they slide by, just watching them go.

Things are starting to get a little carried away, and he calls out a- "Gonna need some help over here!" -to one of his allies. He is finishing off this goddamn beer before he does, thank you kindly, and he stands up chugging it.

Home Life [OPEN TO TANI / MADOKA / RAVEN]

After cleaning up and cleaning off, he gets home later than he intended. He's got a shiner to show for it, too, but he's only really upset that he got held up sweeping up damages. He bursts into his quaint little house (comfortable enough for three teenage girls and their single dad).

"Sorry y'all! Someone was actin' up. Several someones, actually," he comes in, pulling off his leather coat to hang up, and... not really remembering where the coat hanger is. He should know that, right?

Nevermind. Has to tend to his girls first. He tosses his jacket onto the chair and he extends his arms in the universal hug beckoning gesture. "Come on, I promise I'll make it up to ya. Who wants to go out tomorrow." This was the wrong time to be home, he thinks?

Future Regrets [CLOSED TO WHOEVER I ASKED]

Yondu's out getting groceries or doing a run by the training center or failing to find someone's cat, who he is just wondering if even the cats learned to fly 'cause he's had no luck findin' nothin'. Doing basic every day slogging around errands that you just can't pawn off on someone else? But it's lucky that he didn't because-

He is thoroughly distracted by someone that is some level of hot or competent. "How's the day findin' ya?" he calls out.

Snapping Out of It [OTA]

And now he's figured it out. Shit. Shiiiiiit That sorta intense inner feeling of the word that has two syllables and 'y' somewhere's in there. He quickly heads back to both the bar and to the girls, keeping an eye out for anybody that he might know and that he might possibly be able to snap out of it.

The sad thing was he was kind of liking this place? But this means at some point that asshole in the sky won. Who knows if these people are real, or if they're the citizens, or if they're even alive 'cause they could just be meat puppets at this point like those folks that were in the hospital before.

This is going to be a pain in the ass and he hates it already. He's got a few ideas but he's gonna have to run them by some people.

[OOC: The Knickknack Knockback Bar is on the border of the the Educational and Political (1) district and the Shopping and Entertainment District (2), near the Garden & Zoo (3). It's got a roof covered in vegetation and on the inside it's your average dive bar, complete with dive bar food and lazy music and a single TV that plays whatever the bartender's been badgered into. Only a nice collection of potted plants by the window set it apart. It's a front for a vigilante biker-ish gang, a group of 'heroes' that for whatever reason don't call the DForce to deal with problems. For them there's a speakeasy style entrance in the back, hidden by vegetation, and hidden exit routes from there.]

Bar Fight

She was pointedly NOT watching the girl with the moving tattoos on her arms. Not when her long sleeves were covering tattoos of her own that thank the gods, if there were any, didn't move on their own. She ignored the whisper in her mind that said "yet". She tried to avoid the fight, but then someone asked for help, **** it. Off duty or not, she was a cop. She growled and fished her badge out of her pocket, even though she was in her civvies. At least she wasn't drunk. Her Sargent would bust her back to private - wait, private? What? - if she tried to arrest people while drunk. Or worse got involved and got arrested with these idiots.

"I AM DETECTIVE ELIANNE NEYA," she said, voice pitched to carry, even over the noise of the fight and the rest of the bar as well. She was not screaming, but the voice carried anyway. She had been trained for exactly this even those crowd control was Swords work.

Swords? No, think later, be a cop now.

"THE NEXT PERSON TO THROW A PUNCH WILL BE CHILLING THEIR HEELS IN A HOLDING CELL. YOU WANT TO KEEP FIGHTING? TAKE IT THE ****S OUTSIDE." And if they didn't listen... well it had been a while since she'd been in a bar brawl. She didn't exactly miss it. But she didn't hate it either. At least not when she knew that Teela and Tain had her back.

From her place at the kitchen counter, a still half-asleep teenager perks her ears up at the news program playing in the living room. Weird thing, really. Isn't it kind of dumb to attack a city with a bunch of superpowered people?

Shaking her head, Tetra mutes the TV and gets onto important things- like shouting upstairs. "Dad? Uncle Zel? I'm getting food on, want some?"

The Most Fearsome Terror of the Diagad Road System

Jinnjar might currently be being invaded, but if it is the local school system doesn't seem to be bothered. Classes go on as usual, with Tetra counting down the hours impatiently, until at last blessed freedom comes and she's out- well. Sort of.

She's got to do some work on her hoverbike, first. Nothing unusual, Tetra's often seen tinkering with her bike after school, determinedly pulling out just a bit more of the speed that it might be capable of. Eventually, she seems satisfied, ready to try out her improvements in the rapidly emptying street before the school.

Catch her first, before she tests it- or after, before she heads off to play tag with the city's traffic.

As Far as the Eye Can See

A few days later, Tetra's finding it hard to sleep. She's tired but still restless, as though part of her wants to come straight out of her skin, and it's impossible to concentrated on anything seriously. So she skips last period, riding down to one of the lakes not so far from home. She's come here often, of course; even more than the speed of her bike she loves water, feels at home in it.

But even as she throws her jacket and boots aside and gets in to swim, something feels off. Like the water should be larger, further away from land. Like it should be vast and endless, a little alien.

Maybe she'll just float here for a while. It'll make her feel better.

"Nice brakes," he says...grouchy with a slight layer of sincerity, despite the imaginary dirt he's dusting off his business casual outfit. "Perfect for evading officers?"

I. Dreams of Lavender and Chamomile

When you can't seem to get your superpower to work properly (not very helpful, is it? It's no good at all! she'd laughed about it once), you either train harder or you find something else to do in a city of heroes. Well, it wasn't as if her power was totally useless, but there was only so many times she could try punching something without feeling a little silly. It just wasn't fun without someone else. So instead she busied herself with her day job, the flowers in the shop always seemed more comfortable than surrounding herself with people, but what really made it worth while was the smiles on the customer's faces.

So she'd flit around the shop, making sure each spray of blossoms and bundles of greens were well-tended as she hummed and chattered cheerfully to them, whiling away the hours until she could clock out and hit the gym for one more try. After all, just because she wasn't any good at the whole punch-things-until-they-popped business didn't mean she was a quitter. Besides, sometimes she got to grab a prop and throw it at the target, and even if she wasn't the best, she could still have a little fun.

II. Whispers of Amaranth and Jasmine

She'd been fine! Why wouldn't she be fine, honestly? But someone had said something about the clouds and she'd nearly stumbled. Her basket tumbled from numb fingers as she stared up, squinting at the sky—there was fire and ash and the plate was falling—and it was clear, vivid blue, or was it? A flicker at the edge of her vision, her head turning just enough and she could have sworn the person passing her was all in black leathers with pale hair and a whisper of eye-searing flames, and yet she blinked and it was gone. Just someone passing by the shop. Like any other day.

With trembling fingers she stooped to gather up the fallen blossoms to put out in the
display tubs, but she's shaking all over and it's hard to focus. What's the matter, my dear? The voice as her jolt, and she's flinching and glancing over her shoulder, eyes scanning the street outside the shop but there's no one. Why would she expect someone? It's the middle of the day, people are working or at school, why would they...come...

The smell of the camellias suddenly makes her want to vomit and she doesn't know why, and when she rubs her arms to chase away the chills and the tremors she could have sworn she saw scars like little starbursts littering her freckled arms. Aerith can feel her head go funny and she has to find somewhere else to be right now, immediately.

Suddenly this shop doesn't feel safe anymore, like a cage, and she has to fight the urge to bolt out of the shop and off down an alley as if she's being chased.

She wasn't being chased, that'd be ridiculous...wouldn't it?

III. Mint and Marigolds

Try as she might everything felt wrong. Like any moment she was going to shrug right out of her skin. So she found herself trying desperately to distract herself. Tending the plants in her apartment helped a little, blending herbal teas almost scratched the itch, but something about the cherry blossoms in one of the parks had sent her running in what was almost a panic and she couldn't make heads or tails of it. So when that didn't work, she grabbed her keys and made for the gym.

Maybe whacking the heck out of some training exercises might help settle her nerves.

Or maybe she was going to stop lying to herself because nothing felt right and it was leaving her more anxious than she had any right to be. Maybe someone else might know what was going on, because honestly? This whole business sucked and that wasn't even starting to count the drama with whoever those Voidtrekkers might be.

IV. Wildcard

Need a misplaced flower girl? Need a partner in crime? Just need someone for hijinks? Then Aerith is more than likely the girl you need! She can be found wherever there's greenery growing, drawn to it like a magnet, or perhaps you'll find her trying (and failing for the most part), to practice her martial arts and get her new super strength under control.

The last one's a bit iffy. She's trying, bless her, but this one's not exactly built to punch things like she thinks she should...

[On her way to the gym, a girl in a red dress steps out of the shadows. Or did she? It's hard to tell if she did or if she just stepped out of a wall that isn't there anymore. Further complicating matters is the fact that her face is a blur, details impossible to make out.]

Bad Study Habits (Day 1-2)
[It can't be helped. Sometimes, even in a city full of superheroes, the buses run late. Or, even worse... they run early.

Too late, Ayumi realizes what's happening as she sees the bus pulling away from her stop.] No no no no no- [Dangit, she just wanted to take a quick detour to the library to get a few more materials for her next project (and also maybe check out a few novels) and now because she didn't take the school hoverbus on the way back home she was stuck here for... who knows how long. Sighing, Ayumi sits down on the bench and cracks open her notebook. Might as well get a head start on her homework while she's waiting.

As she begins outlining her next essay with one hand, with her other, Ayumi idly summons a knife and begins expertly twirling it between her fingers. In broad daylight. In a mildly threatening, although not intentionally so, manner.

Even in a city of superheroes, that's probably a bit intimidating. Maybe someone should tell her that.]

Worse Training Habits (Days 3-4)
[With all the worries about Voidtrekkers showing up out of nowhere and meancing their fair city, Ayumi figures that she should finally get around to training her powers.

Look. Superheroes are cool. Really cool! But something deep, deep inside Ayumi just... feels the pull of a real, normal life more than any dreams of superheroics or saving people. She's almost thirteen, after all. All Ayumi wants is to enjoy the spring of her youth as much as she can.

But. But.

That same something in the pit of her stomach that encouraged her to take it easy... is now telling her that she needs to pick up the slack. That she needs to protect the people she loves. Especially since she has a power that is particularly suited to, er. "Protecting."

So she musters up her courage, heads into the simulator to practice Castle Defense, and something odd happens. Ayumi stares down one of the nameless, faceless Voidtrekkers, hand extended, about to summon another copy of a sword, when-

A different instinct activates instead. Despite how much more energy it takes to create anything other than a sword, in that moment Ayumi's mind first goes to summoning an old-fashioned matchlock rifle. It appears in her outstretched hand, far, far easier than it should, she pulls the trigger, blows away her assailant, the gun vanishes as quickly as it came, and...

And...

Something else should happen here, right?

Someone should be laughing a stupid, kind of annoying, but incredibly endearing laugh. Ayumi should be getting her hair gently ruffled. She should-

Ayumi is just staring at her outstretched hand in bewilderment as another wave of Voidtrekkers charges. Someone should probably pull her out of the line of fire.]

[ Ayumi is lucky that one of the superheroes (or, well, it's not like she's wearing a fancy costume, but she likes doing things about crime happening when she spots it!) running into her isn't the type to just jump on anything looking remotely dangerous. Or maybe that's just the nature of Alice's powers - they don't kick in until shit truly and well has hit the fan.

And she'd say someone twirling a knife around is not quite hitting the fan just yet. After all, the knife isn't exactly being inserted into anyone.

It's that 'yet' that makes Alice approach the writing person, her hands on her hips. ]

Roland watches the news against the overhead screen hanging across one of Diagad's well-known skyscrapers with a sense of unease. He tries not to let it get to him. Talk of terrorists integrating into society shouldn't quite bother him so much, right? He disagrees with the tactic anyhow - why give the bad guys the screen time? But his thoughts don't linger here, duffel bag full and heavy against his shoulder as he rushes towards the nearest terminal. Not quite late, not quite early, a young man in his twenties clad in Jinnjar University attire just trying to make his way to campus.

The sky overhead is more curious than the news, and perhaps you might find yourself bumping into him along the busy street after Roland stops to stare at the colors...but otherwise, his commute is relatively easy. Before he even knows it, Roland's by his locker already, making small talk with those nearby. "Can't believe they're pushing finals early just because of all the rumors. It's crazy. It's like they're not listening to the students at all. Anyway, are you done with that presentation? I've got a quick sec, if you need a sounding board."

Are you someone in the university too? A teacher perhaps, or a fellow undergrad for Public Administration with a minor in History? Regardless of your role, Roland is a highly visible figure. As soon as the morning rolls in, he can be found putting up flyers by the Commons corkboard - slots have opened for his limited tutorial services outside school. When you attend class with him, the professor announces a groupwork and Roland's the T.A. helping you out. Then at lunch, he's at the Cafeteria looking for a place to sit. Might you join him before long, and you're forced to sit somewhere other than the line of tables and chairs?

Then again, there's more of Roland to be had in the afternoon. He's a senior now, so he has more freedom to roam; the library is a popular choice, typing up by the computers and chatting up a storm with the librarians about how to get a foot in the door at the congress for his internship. Before leaving, you may chance upon him practicing his form at the gym, or wondering if the training grounds is better for fencing...

His tutorial schedule fills up rather quickly, and it's no wonder Roland's already running out of school the moment 5PM hits. His friends, a circle of them with familiar faces, reprimand him jokingly.

"Hey, after I get paid, one round on me. Deal? Heh." We're holding you to that, Mr. Class Pres!

The sky pulls his eyes upwards, forcing him to squint. No, no time to entertain such things. Roland's a busy bee - has to be one, has to get into the right place after university - so he attends to the people who signed up for tutorial sessions after class. Some are his age, some are younger. Regardless, you will find yourself opening your apartment door with Roland waiting outside dutifully, a smile on his face and a book bag slung over one arm. "All right. Let's get to that arithmetic homework of yours. Don't worry, it'll be easy."

All the while the television in your living room blares in the background, perhaps too loud for either of your liking. Another notice has been issued by the local government regarding the use of the terrorist group 'VOIDTRECKER' on popular media. Sources say-

"Iced grande triple-upside down caramel macchiato with three pumps of extra hazelnut, for (Y/N)?"

That's your name, but it's not your order. Not quite. It's too extensive, too wild, but Roland's gotta do his job even if it's part-time. This café is well-known around the office area, more big-wigs and guys in suits for it to be a student watering hole. Yet the pay is good and the hours are flexible. Plus, Roland's great with names and faces. So when you come up to clarify - or maybe this is your new order - be ready to greet him with a dashing little smile of your own.

"Aha, no wonder I was confused. You experimenting?" He laughs. "Anyway, if I got this wrong then it's on the house. I do remember you."

Take that banter for what it is. Or tug at his sleeve while he busses table for you to use. "Welcome back to The Third Place. Just warming up your usual spot, heh."

Afterhours is an interesting, eclectic mix of energy. The usual grounds are filled with more people than Roland cares to remember or admit, though he doesn't stop to question it. With a cold beer in hand and surrounded by friends (yeah, these are his people!), Roland finally has a chance to just talk and be himself outside of school and work. Though he's distracted some by the rumor mill floating about, how people taking pictures of the sky soon end up getting migraines; how the heroes are patrolling even this part of town.

"Penny for your thoughts?" Roland says casually, leaning one elbow against the railing with half his attention on the incoming group of fellow seniors. Some he waves to, some he doesn't know but is introduced to with a firm handshake, friend-circles aligning in between. "Good to meet you. Roland." The music is nice and the student body is here to have fun...though you can't avoid the rallying talk about Jinnjar's hottest gossip.

Then when all is said and done, Roland opts to leave earlier than most. The night may be young, and perhaps there's a chance to convince him to stay a bit longer, the inevitable remains. He'll be taking the first hovercab back home in preparation for a webshow at midnight. Are you watching DiagNet closely? Are you already a frequent watcher; a subscriber? Roland appears on your screen if you're on his channel, waving once, sat by a plush leather chair.

Jane hasn't been home in a long time. Long enough that her family hasn't even met her husband; they'd tied the knot in a private ceremony, nothing fancy, just with some friends as witnesses. Her family probably think it's because she's pregnant or something, but she's not. Or at least, not pregnant. But definitely something.

They're a picture-perfect couple though as they walk up to the front porch. She's in a little black dress and holding a bottle of wine, and she smiles awkwardly at whoever opens the door.

"Hey." The prodigal child, back at last. "I'm home?"

02 ▷ DAY THREE/FOUR — ANOMALIES (APARTMENT COMPLEX) — OPEN

"Neufie? Come on, girl... where are you?"

Jane's standing in front of her apartment door in a burgurdy kimono robe, hands on her hips as she looks around for her orange tabby cat. It's early in the morning and there are still signs of sleep on her face, but she's at least splashed water on it, as well as quickly put her hair up in a haphazard bun.

She huffs and checks her cellphone again. It's odd for Neufie to disappear like that, because even if she knows some of the kids that come around to visit and play occasionally, she still prefers sticking close to Jane's side. Plus, the tracker app shows the feline moving lazily nearby — a few meters from where Jane's standing, in fact. So where did she go?

03 ▷ DAY THREE/FOUR — A PSA OR SIX (THE KNICKKNACK KNOCKBACK BAR) — OPEN to fellow vigilantes and friends of Yondu

Mid-afternoon is hardly the best time for drinking, but that's when Jane's able to get away with it, with her husband still at work and, well, just making up housewife excuses for going out like needing to do the groceries or meeting some girl friends for coffee. But she's not in the bar for pleasantries, no; she's there for a job, or at the very least, to get some scoop about the Voidtreckers.

"So the DForce is arresting people based on the color of their shirt now?" she asks, snorting, electricity sparking from her fingertips as she runs them idly along the rim of her glass. The other 'heroes' know her as Caedus, but one of them had called her Sparky once and the name just stuck.

A general note; Dani is fourteen, so she's taller then icons imply, and hair is cut to just below her shoulders. Will wear something green everyday and an arm band with a light green jewel. She's also quite pale.

Day 1: Rainbow Skies
The sky always interested her. It made her sad that she didn't have the power of flight. But strange oddities in the sky only tempted her more. She wanted to see more of them. It felt important, in a way, to figure out why the sky was like that.

But she couldn't fly.

She was, however, very good at getting where she's not supposed to. She makes it a habit to climb to the roof of the tallest buildings she could unless she's chased away.

Day 1+2: Voidtreckers
Dani isn't interested in hunting people down. There are people who are more focused on that sort of thing. However, Dani also finds herself looking anyway. Scanning the crowds for anyone who looks out of place. For odd signs and colors.

It helps that she finds it easy to move through crowds unnoticed. Not because of powers, she simply knows how to make herself look unassuming. Naturally, as far as she's concerned. After all, its not as if she has reason to practice such skills.

Day 2: Living Your Life
Dani is sitting at a cafe table, with books spread around her. She seems to be working hard on an english essay of sorts. Well, maybe. She seems more intent on chewing her pencil down to a nub as she flips through pages.

"Why is this so hard....?" She's not stupid. She's sure she's not stupid. She zipped through her biology homework, surely this can't be that hard!

Night Three: Dreams (For family only. Or anyone staying over, I guess.)
So.

In the middle of the night, there might be a short bout of screaming and a shout. Its short enough that maybe people could turn over and go to sleep again, not sure what woke them up.

For whoever else that realized it was a screaming...

Dani is awake in her bed, breathing like she's on the edge of a panic attack, tears streaming down her face.

Day Three+Four: Dreams And Anomalies
Dani is walking through town, sometimes stopping to sketch in a sketchpad. At times, she's staring up at the sky, sometimes at the building, frowning deeply. It almost seems like she's taking creative liberties, with nothing matching what's in front of her exactly.

Other times, she stops with a shake of her head and draws other things.

Its various things. Constellations, a crest, a basin, a wolf, an ermine, a cave ceiling, and raptors. She will stare for a while at these pictures, tapping her pencil to the paper.

And sometimes, she writes down a simple sentence or word. 'People lie to you.' 'Names have power.' 'Razzy.'

'I want to see them now.' 'I have to fight for it.'

Day Four: Training
Dia Mystery. Its like an itch under her skin, and she feels like she needs to solve SOMETHING, so she's trying out the Dia Mystery simulation. It seems the best way to put her mind at ease.

She can talk to suspects, put on a charming demeanor, but really, sneaking into places and making sure to get out before she's 'discovered' with something with value is the key. Either way, there are options and at least there's an answer eventually.

[Who is that on the roof? They're not supposed to be there. And Loki, transferred Hero that he was, had been told to watch out for anything unusual. With the sky going strange, making sure everything was in order was even more important than ever. He climbs up the fire escape and approaches the person, quietly but not threatening. If they notice him before he speaks up, he plans to put on his best disarming, reassuring charm.]

Day 1: Voidtreckers
Adrien isn't sure what he thinks of these Voidtreckers. He's ultimately an optimist and he hasn't actually seen any harm these guys have done. What if it was all a misunderstanding? Ultimately, he's curious. So he keeps an eye out, but doesn't seek them out.

Plagg, his black cat, has other ideas and may be more eager to sate his curiosity. So if he spots any signs of them, someone may find a black cat on their tail.

Day 2: Living Life
Adrien has work, between school and homework and time spent with his brother. Those more fashionable may recognize his face, and know what's happening in the park today. Especially when he keeps going through wardrobe changes.

Its a photoshoot. But there are times where Adrien gets to sit to the side and rest, a perfect time to talk to him if so desired. Or maybe kidnap him away from the photo shoot if you're chaotic enough.

Day 3: Dreams
He's been experiencing odd dreams. Its making it hard to sleep and his make up is on especially thick today to hide the bags under his eyes. He does his best to go about his day.

"I'm so sorry. I don't know why he's like this, that should cover it," Adrien said to the shop owner whom Plagg had stolen cheese from.

Adrien looked at Plagg with an annoyed look. "No, that wasn't for you, and you know it. I know you're smarter then that," he said with a sigh. "I don't CARE if it was camembert."

Day 4: Anomalies
Adrien keeps having to do a double take. Things look...off. So many things look off and he can never place why. Even when he looks again, things look fine and almost seem less wrong now.

It doesn't make sense.

Sometimes, Plagg, the cat always at his side, disappears. For others.

Sometimes, he thinks the cat is in his clothes.

But no, surely Plagg is just always at his side?

He finds himself stopping in front of a clothing store, staring at a leather jacket with a deep frown.

Day 2

Nino has been dating Adrien for a while, but it's not easy. Having a super model boyfriend can be tough at times. Especially dealing with the crazy fans and the press. And that's not even on top of the fact they are both guys so they have that on their shoulders as well.

But Nino loves him, so he deals with it as best he can.

He had been watching the photoshoots from a distance and now that it seems he's on a break, he can go talk with him.

So he goes over to him, carrying Wayzz in his bag. "Hey dude. Taking a break?"

No matter the weather or the color the sky, Selene is always dressed to kill, and it's not just because she's the sister of a popular rockstar. Whenever she's seen in public she's almost always on her way to some meeting or gala or fundraiser, or in the library or museum or some posh café, accompanied by two bodyguards in sharp suits and sunglasses.

She's not just running the family business of collecting antiques, however; she's also one of the people in the city to call whenever someone is in need of information from... reliable sources. She has a vast network and powerful connections, after all, including those of her rockstar and vigilante brothers.

Not that she trades for free. She does like jewelry. And knives.

02 ▷ DAY THREE/FOUR — DREAMS (APARTMENT) — CLOSED to Voidtrecker Atem

Her hand wavers right before she throws the knife, missing her target by a hair, and while she's staring at the dart board (of course they're using knives instead) like she's unable to believe she'd missed, she's more looking through it than at it. The flash fades after a moment but the image remains in her mind like an afterglow: a lighthouse, one that doesn't exist in Diagad but feels like she's already seen before.

Then she shakes her head to snap herself out of it, walking over to the board to pull the knife free and try again.

Day Two

Not everyone in Demyx's line of work would engage someone who had ties in vigilantism or perhaps unseen connections.

Demyx thought they were fools.

He'd been operating under the name 'Damon', but he'd woken up now but unlike others, he was definitely the type to play a role.

She wouldn't see him coming, mostly because he had the power of invisibility, but he would appear out of nowhere a few steps behind her so she could hear him approach. "Evening." He greeted, just like he might have the day before. "I'm looking for some information."

Day 1: Rainbow Skies
He may be more security based then superheroics as a 'patrolling hero,' but Wash takes his job very seriously. Strange colors in the sky gets attention and people are drawn to it and of course some will try to approach.

He's pretty sure no one CAN reach them, even flyers have to breathe, but people going up high is still incredibly dangerous. So he's going around with a hoverbike, looking for anyone trying to get close and make sure they're not doing anything dangerous or stupid.

Day 1+2: Voidtreckers
He does seem an eye out for them while looking for people approaching the sky, but on day 2, he's on the ground, just going along his patrol. He keeps an eye out for the symbol, for the colors.

Woe to anyone he spots.

He's hard to lose once he's got you in his sights.

Day 1+2: Living Your Life
Wash has a strict schedule. If there is no active keeping of the peace, protecting a life, stopping a robbery, the like, he checks out right on time. Its a rule he holds himself too, because SOMEONE has to be there for his sister, and workaholic parent isn't gonna do it.

So he does. When he's checked out, he's homemaker. He does errands, he picks up dinner, he does the everyday things that need to be done, both in town, or at home.

He might interfere if someone is about to be hurt in front of him, but otherwise, crime isn't his concern anymore.

Day 3+4: Dreams
He's never slept the best. After Secret Shady Job, he sleeps even worse. Dreams, usually. He's used to it. He thinks he's used to it. Except his dreams usually have a sense to them. They're memory fragments, he knows it. Because he's always had a good memory and that's how his head decompresses.

The dreams are different now.

He'll stop at flashes of certain colors, mostly reds and blues, but at times a cream or a green or a pink. Stare too long at cats.

Trace lines along his arm.

But he moves on before its too bad.

Day 3+4: Anomalies
He doesn't stop to stare at the anomalies. There's no need. He knows what he saw. He knows what he saw. He doesn't need to look again and that is what scares him.

He knows something is wrong. He doesn't know what. But he also knows advertising that isn't safe. He's sure of it.

He starts to catch at his neck, like a tick. And people might notice its own anomaly, where a neck that is fairly clear is suddenly covered in scars, and what looks like a computer port....only to disappear again.

Day 3+4: Training
On Wash's days off, he makes it a habit to head to the gym as a part time trainer. He's very adapt at helping people with any sort of challenge.

Of course, working with Wash is not for the feint of heart. He's extremely adept at figuring out what level a person is at...and pushing them just a little bit farther.

He's the trainer from hell, but there are definitely Results.

And personally, he finds it easier to focus on people over his slowly fraying sanity.

Voidtreckers - Day 2

There was nothing too remarkable about Senku. He looked like an artist, which was his cover, his hair up in a poinytail, colourful t-shirt and jeans with paint.

The only think that could be remarkable was an orange watch.

Senku was in the process of locking up his shop, Atelier Ishigami, not paying any mind to any patrols, not at the moment. Aside from that he was wearing some other jewelry, an amulet, a different necklace with a charm and a bracelet on one wrist.

Days 1 & 2: Living Your Life
Whenever Nino is not at school, he works part time doing DJing gigs for parties. He may not be professional, but he's got some cred to him. Including having done music for fashion shows a couple times.

He also tries to take care of his pet turtle, Wayzz. Who for some reason always manages to escape and he has to grab him. At least turtles are slow (unless they are in danger, then they can move surprisingly fast).

At the moment, he has Wayzz with him, who's eating some fish Nino brought. He's taking a break after finishing a session.

Days 3 & 4: Dreams
For some reason, he's been having weird dreams, and it's been keeping him up. And unlike his boyfriend, he can't exactly hide the bags under his eyes.

He sees what seems like a city, full of culture. As well as a girl. Long wavy brownish-red hair with greyish golden eyes behind a pair of glasses. She looks beautiful, but he has a boyfriend. So surely he shouldn't try to let his heart sway too much.

He can barely hear a name when he feels that brief flash in his mind.

Alya Césaire.

It honestly bothers him. Just who is this Alya, and why can't he stop thinking of her? Especially since he can't remember her.

Kyoko had been backing away from some girls as quickly as she could, and wasn't paying attention. She would crash right into Nino's back unless he noticed someone coming up behind him in time to move.

Elidibus | Voidtrekker Red Team| Final Fantasy XIV OU | Catch-All

This illusion did not hold Elidibus. Though it certainly tried, the Ascian has had a couple of weeks to make certain he is prepared for attacks of this nature. The pendant, the train's SCA and an already high mental resilience; a grasp on what is real and what is not. One moment there is the train and its message and the next finds him in a quiet building, sorting through what is currently available to him.

A phone book listing numerous names and phone numbers. A device not unlike a portable Allagan tablet. a slender piece of plastic with a magnetic strip. And the SCA without its communications. The book is flipped through. The device is powered on after a brief bit of fumbling. Tapped. Explored. Some information is studied. Other information searched.

With magic, the clothes which would have labeled him as a member of the Voidtrekker's Red Team are adjusted to a style that's suited to the world. Polo shirt and khakis have become a white button-down shirt with long sleeves- to cover the SCA device- and dark slacks. Once ready to move on, Elidibus begins to construct the spell to open a portal and travel to a different locale...

Only to have it resonate with the illusion and seek to draw him into its coils? In haste Elidibus dispelled the makings of the shadowy portal. The pull had been relatively mild, but distinct. And it took only a little examination of the forces at play around him to understand why; this 'super power' bequeathed through the world harmonized with the teleportation spell. At least enough that made it a risk to use it.

It was a fraction of his abilities, but annoyingly inconvenient. He would have to find another way.

[Days 1-2]

I. Prank? Calls (OTA, Voidtrekkers or 4th Wallers, please note if your name is different than train Roster or not on it at all)

After some study of the 'tablet' (cellphone) and its functions, Elidibus has gathered how to make use of it. To find other Voidtrekkers, he reasons, the device could be useful. Particularly as this world seems to have provided a directory of names and numbers.

Of course he has no way of knowing how many have fallen into the illusion or indeed if the directory is accurate to his memory of the train's Roster which he had taken the time to largely memorize. But he can start there can he not? As an experiment, he'll even aim for some names not recognized.

There is risk. Whether this strange tablet can be traced to its origins in some manner being the utmost. Having to discard it, with the SCA's communicators down, would make it harder for him to find those who might have freed themselves. But he would hold on to it as long as possible. And the information that could be gleaned, that he could chance on an ally. That would be worth the danger.

Elidibus begins to dial.

At the other end, a cellphone's ringtone goes off.


II. Streets and People (OTA)

Eventually, Elidibus takes to the streets. Another figure in the crowd of a bustling city. Or... what seems to be pieces of a city in a strange and alarming sampler to those not tricked by the illusion of uniformity and expanse. In a sense, the Ascian is used to seeing something split into fragmented reflections of its true form. That doesn't make it any less pleasant a reminder.

What it does give, however, is a renewed interest in seeing this trap brought to an end. Thus his journey will take him to spend time in most of the districts that day, through walking or public transit and finally figuring out the use of that convenient piece of plastic that was with his belongings.

Any familiar faces he passes by? Visits the shop of? A topic of interest is always the rumors of Voidtrekkers. Elidibus will linger for gossip or watch for tells just as any upright citizen might be doing.

Or maybe you know Elliot Stiller or his brother Albert and might try to stop him to have a chat. Did he have the day off? Did Elliot even take days off for that matter? Well there was that recent accident Albert was involved in...



[Days 1-4]

III. Wildcards

[Hard to plan ahead with VT Elidibus because of the early break from illusion. But any CR welcome, including being cornered for suspicious activity. An evil doppelganger? Or maybe he's cornered someone else? Elidibus will have no problem seeking out elements of a criminal nature or leaving people within the illusion if he feels it is the better option for the moment. Feel free to contact me for any ideas! Will also add any developments/ideas that will be OTA if I can think of any.

Shadow has zero interest in hunting people down. That being said, he's observant and knows when someone is suspicious.

Shadow is a student for anyone who catches him at school.

However, what he really likes to do is take part of Georgi's Gang and put on shadow puppet shows. It helps he doesn't even need to actually dress up like a shadow. His power is made for it, and he's ever dramatic.

He will tell tales more like fairy tales. The princess needs to be saved, the daring hero, the evil villain. However, he does like having a little complexity. The princess is not always helpless, the hero not always fully noble, the villain not fully bad. And, well, he's good at what he does and knows how to convey the right body language.

Day 3+4: Dreams
Strange dreams should not be ignored.

Its the first thing he thinks of when he wakes up. Do not ignore strange dreams. He doesn't know why. It makes no sense. Dreams are always strange....

But the thought doesn't leave.

And, well, for Voidtreckers of red, blue, and purple, he may just approach you if he sees you.

Day 3+4: Anomalies
He's in the zoo. He's not even walking around. Instead, he's just found a lamp post to sit on. His shadowy form allows him to be light and easy to climb things. So long as he can find one with a tall enough tree nearby.

He's just looking around at the whole zoo from his perch.

Day 3+4: Traing
Castle defense. He called to him and he needed to do Something for the intrusive thoughts. Though maybe this was the wrong move. Something about it digs at something in his brain.

For anyone also in training with him....

Well, he may just happen to hit YOU instead of the training dummies with a training sword. Like he's on the attack instead of defense.

Day 2

He wasn't the only one looking for suspicious people, but in Neya's case... it was her job. The cop noticed him staring at someone. Twin urges hit her at the same time. To wave and... to draw a dagger. What the actual ****s? She felt like she knew him, almost. But something else whispered at him. Shadows are death. Where the ****s did that come from?

Well she was a cop. Weird flashes or not. She stalked over to him. "Is something wrong here?" she asked. voice cool and professional, though the struggle to keep her face matching her voice was evident.

The silvery cat on her shoulder bit her ear. She ignored him, focused on the teen in front of her.

Empathy makes it very hard to think anyone as inherently bad. Seeing things from another's perspective will do that. So when she hears about an invading force, she's....

Which leads to her driving around on her hoverbike, looking around as she goes for any of the signs. At times she'll park, some food, check her messages. But always looking.

What motivates people to invade? What do these Voidtreckers want?

She wanted to know.

Day 1+2: Living Your Life
She has school. She also has work. She works in a music store, doing her best to help people find the music they might like. She's fairly knowledgeable of most any genre, after all.

It helps she's in a band with various tastes, even if they do mostly rock and pop. They've experimented. Such a shame most of them are out of town for various reasons.

Day 3+4: Dreams
She hasn't stopped playing with her necklace.

She's not one to fidget normally. If anything, moving things between her fingers is...uncomfortable. It feels weird, it always feels weird. If she's not using them to DO something, then its weird. And yet, she finds she can't stop playing with her necklace.

Its not a trinket, a gift. Sentimental, nothing more.

Except it was something more in her dreams. And she can't forget it, and has to check, has to be sure she still has it.

Day 3+4: Anomalies
Perspective is everything. No one sees the world quite the same, something she knows well, having seen plenty of perspectives.

And with the flashes, of things being wrong, or animals missing, she finds herself stopping more and more, trying to catch an inconsistency in the act. Because she's now questioning her own perspective.

And with that and dreams, its extremely worrying.

She finds herself at the arcade, watching people, and going to machines, ones she's not entirely sure was there, and checking the high scores. Trying to find anything that doesn't make sense.

[Loki hasn't spent much time in this sector and so doesn't know many people, but the teenager who works at the music shop is an exception. They'd run into each other by chance and immediately taken a liking to each other. He couldn't say why, other than her reminding him of his wife who was still in his home city; maybe talking with her eased the pain of separation. Not that he thought about her romantically, of course! He was married, and she was too young.

[He usually stops in at the store during Sunset's afternoon shift. Today is no different; he enters, smiling at the ringing bell, and waits for her to look up and greet him.]

Days 1 & 2
Rainbow Skies

Elianne could be found in a foul mood most of the first day those colours appeared. Often she could convince the flying patrols to take her up. She loved flight, a lot. Spent a lot of her idle dreams on it. And usually she could convince the people who had all but watched her grow up from an angry bleak teen into an adult protector of the city into giving her a ride up. This sort of investigation was exactly her **** sort of thing, **** it all to the *****s. But no. They were treating her like any other gawker just because this wasn't her **** case. It should be, **** it all!

Eli wasn't an actress at all. When it came to reading someone, no telepathy was needed for her. She was swearing up a blue streak. A few of those flying above looked amused or impressed, but none of them came the ****s down or brought her the *****s up.

Want to bother a clearly *****ed off cop in her early 20s who looks like she slept in her uniform, except for the whole actually getting sleep part? One who has what looks like a well fed silver and white house cat on her shoulder?

What the actual **** sort of vague intel was that? Blue, Red, Purple, and Orange? Once you took out those shades what the actual ***** colours were left? Most people wore one or more of those on any given day. So she wasn't paying special attention to the colours. No, she was watching for the emblem and... odd devices on their wrists. She would occasionally rub her own wrist, as if feeling something was missing there, but she had no clue what the ****s that would even be. Feel free to notice her watching you through narrowed eyes if you have an SCA, rubbing her wrist and... oddly? Getting smacked in the face by the tail of her irritated cat.

Live your life

Off work, Eli had ditched her uniform. She was in the cheapest clothes she could find that included long pants and long sleeves. Pretty colours cost more, and she never seemed to have the cash for that sort of stuff. So she was in a whiteish long sleeved top and worn jeans. The knee was patched and the hems were fraying. She wore her work shoes because they were comfortable, and paid for by the department, so why the ****s not. She carried a small worn bag as she headed for her destination. First a ball game. She was watching, which meant betting. Then probably after to a bar, either to celebrate winning for once, or more likely, being treated by someone who is in a good mood over how much money they won off of her.

One thing that made bars safe for her at times like that was the fact that she always looked unattractive, a little bit rundown, and a lot like trouble. The fact that it was known that she was a cop might have also helped. Even when she was drinking.

Days 3 & 4
Dreams
Eli... was not one to talk about her dreams. Not the sort she had while nominally asleep, anyway. When she had been younger she had foolishly learned not to talk about the other sort. And she rarely listened when other people did except...

Except that she was getting the occasional flash while she was awake. And in public. And for someone who loved gambling she had no poker face. At all. So when it happened, it was obvious. She'd jerk to a stop. Maybe pale. Or look confused. Admittedly when she'd burst out cursing in confusion no one who knew her would consider that atypical. But day four....

Day three had been glimpses of faces, hints of names. But day four... at one point two names slammed into her so hard that she staggered. Her eyes were wet all at once with unshed tears, anguish on her face as she crumpled.

"Steffi. Jade."

Who were they? And why did her chest hurt like her heart had been ripped out of her chest?

ANOMALIES

What the actual ****s? Magic coulurs in the **** sky. Criminals sneaking about the city and she's sent to investigate missing **** animals?

In the middle of the street she actually turned her head to glare at the cat on her shoulder. "All those **** pets wandering off that I'm supposed to find why the ****s are you still here?" she growled.

The cat, clearly disgusted, bit her nose, then made a lot of squeaky sounding meows. Right in her ear.

"Fine, fine, forget I asked, **** it," she growled. "Can you at least find them, **** it? Be useful for once in your mongrel life?"

The cat hissed and swatted her face with his tail before he hopped down, somehow landing neatly on the ground before he sniffed around and began trotting off.

"What the actual *****s?!" with that outburst she jogged after the cat who looked to be sauntering but was moving... rapidly. Since when was he useful for anything? If he was just going after a mouse she would find some **** way to kick him the ****s out of the apartment or give him the ****s away.

Training Center

The last few days had her shaken. While she usually avoided the training center because she tried to keep her powers secret... she'd found other ways to train there and today she needed it. She fired up Castle Defense, expecting to be alone. She had no clue anyone else would be tossed in with her as she readied the daggers that were weighted for throwing. Her cat sat out of the way on the tower's parapets, watching through narrowed eyes as she tried to shake off the memory of woman with almost no hair teaching her how to throw a dagger. She knew how to throw a dagger, **** it, and she knew who the ****s had taught her. And it wasn't.... "Morse?" What the actual ****s?

Day 1 - hope this works?

She'd tried, she really had. The second she'd seen Elianne, Amaya had wanted her under her wing. Something seemed...well, familiar in there, really, one battered veteran to another up-and-comer. So far, she hadn't been able to finagle a transfer for her.

There seemed to be a mountain of anger there. Which could be built into purpose, true, but could also burn out or go bad. It was always hard to tell.

But she was, to Amaya's mind, all potential. Others might have disagreed, but she saw one of the most talented investigators in the city. And today, apparently, she was on quite the streak. And, thus, Amaya went to check on her before she clocked off.

She got her attention by rapping a gauntlet-clad hand on the wall she was leaning against, as Elianne passed, hands shifting into sign language.
