Event: 12 of Beetroot

It's been a couple of weeks since they had evacuated Osiga. In that time, many of voidtreckers were busy with a project to try and solve some of the many mysteries that surround the train they travel on. By the eight day of Rabbit they've exhausted all avenues, and whilst they have learned quite a bit, there are still some clear gaps.

Just as that investigation comes to a natural end, passengers are woken up by an announcement.

"Attention voidtreckers and passengers of the voidtrecker express. We are travelling to system #2554098133741. I have sent word to the ministry who have arranged recuperation packs for you. You have had a difficult mission and you deserve a rest.

But it is not just for rest. Last time we visited the system voidtreckers shared memories. Though it is understood that many of you did not enjoy the experience it is notable that certain voidtreckers saw memories of this voidcraft. They were memories that this craft had not accessed. It led to more pathways opening up in the operation of this craft.

I have done some research on the system and I believe we can trigger the caves of memory. This voidcraft understands this might be difficult for the voidtreckers and passengers of the voidtrecker express and it is hoped that only those of you who consent to this experiment will take part.

Regardless this should be a time for relaxation also and the dressing room is open for your convenience. We will arrive in the morning.

The dressing carriage is indeed opened for those who go and look. It's filled with swimming costumes, beach ware, summery clothes and sun hats. There's even a cupboard of buckets, spades, rock pooling gear and picnic blankets.

There are also team coloured tents for those who want to go and sleep under the stars for a night or two, though the train is remaining on the island for those for who camping is their idea of hell.

JEMA'GRETHY ISLAND: RELAXATION

The next day the train announces their arrival and they burst out of the void. For those near a window their first view of the island will be of crystal blue sea and white sand. It really does look like a paradise. The train circles down before landing on a grassy ridge, overlooking a beautiful beach of white sand and the ocean beyond. It is warm, but not too hot, a cool ocean breeze cutting through the heat making it pleasant. Behind them is a grassy plain, changing to forest in the distance. There is the sound of birdsong in the purple sky. To the west the land is more craggy, the silhouette of a fortress in the distance.

In a word, it is idyllic. A sense of peace permeates the island.

The place has no people, but it is clearly maintained. The eastern beaches have racks of shallow boats, both canoes and one- or two-person sailing dinghies. There is also a small building in which scuba gear is stored, along with several waterproofed manuals and instructional literature.

There are no living quarters, but there are sheltered sections with basic toilet facilities marked as camping grounds in five different sections of the island - by the hot springs, within the ruined fortress, beside the harbour, on the eastern beaches, and on the northern face of the mountain.

The recuperation packs are found at the closest toilet facilities to where the train lands. They are simple things, small gift baskets with a couple of fragrant soaps, fancier hair products and skin cream infused with herbs to encourage rest and sleep.

There are some sweet fruit biscuits and a cheesy bread. The packs aren't named but there are some suitable for the younger passengers with tiny plush and colouring books. Quite a few designed for teens with a more engaging activity book and components for making a fancy mocktail with a cute stirrer. Adult packs have a small bottle of alcohol- there's a mixture between the packs and what looks like a stone. When placed next to the skin it will either warm up or cool down depending on what is needed.

Exploring, the passengers will find beautiful beaches, ragged cliffs to walk and caves to explore. Where it is more craggy the beaches are made of pebbles, perfect for rock pooling.

A little more worrying is the volcano-like structure in the north. But even a quick glance will show it is not a typical volcano. There is no smoke and the liquid slowly running down it in rivulets is pink and blue.

Ruins of ancient houses are scattered across the island, but the main settlement is built into a rocky section in the north-west that has been secured with ropes and stairways cut into the cliffs, perfect for scrambles and hikes.

To the west are the hot springs. They have both outdoor and indoor areas; the indoor areas being wooden loghouse saunas, changing rooms and storage sheds, whilst the outdoor areas are a tiered series of pools spilling down the side of the mountain and shaded by brightly flowering trees. The waters are hot, mineral-rich and soothing.

MEMORY CAVES: BONDING

Shortly before arriving they will receive some information on their SCA. It will explain how those who once lived on this island went about making life bonds. Both people would bathe in the hot springs and then dress simply, barefoot and walk to one of seven rocks on the island. Their maps will pin point these, which is good because there's no real indication of what makes these rocks different to any other on the island.

Here they must offer their wish to know the other deeper and share food and drink. They can then go about their day. Sometime in the hours after they will receive their first memory, seen through their partners eyes.

However it seems that in envoking the ritual they have woken something on the island. Even those who did not take part or chose to bond to someone find themselves seeing a glimpse of another life.

On the second day they see another memory, through the eyes of their pair. When they come out of it they find themselves in a cave with their partner, chosen or not. The same happens on the third day, except for this final memory both pairs see both memories, watching from the sidelines as it plays out. They find themselves in the cave once more and this time, for many there is only one exit, to leave through together.

MEMORY MAZE: TRAIN'S MEMORIES

On the third day the train sends another message to their SCA.

"Activating the caves that share memories has been successful. I know this is a lot to ask of the voidtreckers, but any who wish to assist in discovering what it is that I have forgotten, the path is open now.

Those who wish to may go to the sacred rocks. Please be warned, I do not know how voidtreckers will fare. Please only go of your own free will."

Their SCA's once again show the rocks on their maps and when they get there, this time they are faintly glowing. It doesn't take much. One touch and their minds are drawn away from their bodies, into a labyrinth of caves. For anyone who comes across these people on the island, they look like they are in a deep trance, breathing, safe but far away in their mind.

The labyrinth is made of cool, dark rock. The walls have a glow coming from crystals in-bedded in them, allowing everyone to see as they move through.

At first there's no more to this labyrinth, or so it seems. But then they turn a corner, and they are no longer in cavern as it just was. They may be in their childhood bedroom, or in the middle of a battle they once fought. Perhaps they are not in their own memory, but someone else's. Scenes move rapidly and often merge, one persons into another, mixing to make strange scenes.

These visions don't attempt to ensnare them like some illusions, and those with protection from illusions and such techniques, will be able to find their way forward through the cave, and away from this triggered scenario.

Time barely has meaning. Indeed, when they finally emerge from the caves only a few minutes will have passed. But in that time they will have seen much, and eventually they may stumble across a fragment of memory that belongs not to a voidtrecker, but to the Voidtrecker Express itself.

[Once he found out that they were at the beach again, Quatre hurried first to the dressing carriage so that he could pick out something to wear. He had missed having more or less a relaxing time when most of their missions were very much not so. And he was determined to enjoy it as much as he could!

But first he had to pick out what he was going to wear and stood there for probably longer than required, studying the different options that he had.

Quatre spent quite a bit of time once there sitting on the beach. It was nice, just getting to sit there and look out at the waves. It was nice having a break, but it also made him a little nostalgic. When was the last time that he had been here? Had Trowa still been here for that? He pulled his knees up to his chest and wrapped his arms around his legs as he continued to look out at the water, resting his chin on his knees.

After spending a lot of time in the sun, eventually he wandered over and found the recuperation packs. He was curious, studying them a bit. Technically he still was a teenager, so he picked up that pack. He probably would like better than the adult one anyway since it came with stuff for a mocktail rather than actual alcohol.]

[ It's not hard to spot Quatre out there on the beach. After all, between the groups of people playing and messing around with each other, someone sitting there by themselves tends to stand out.

And it's also the fact that Quatre is just.. sitting there. The other guy isn't having fun, he just looks like he's thinking. And not even a necessarily fun kind of thinking.

Of course Inigo can't leave that alone. He fusses way too much over his friends to let Quatre be sad by himself, so with very little hesitation he's already moving in the direction of the other guy, letting himself drop next to him in the sand. ]

Hey. [ He offers, smiling at the other. ] You sure look like you're thinking hard.

[Pulling himself out of the water, hair sopping and water quickly running off his tight black gridsuit with glowing lines he is usually seen in, Faux steps out onto the beach to a scene now filled with a familiar roommate sitting nearby. He politely gives a quick smile his way.

Taking a few moments to shake the excess water out of his hair, while acknowledging he will be dripping for a good while with his seemingly waterlogged code, (hah, he should have probably brought a towel along); he notices Quatre again and that most infamous word.]

In my experience the term; 'nice', is usually a form of convincing oneself that it is indeed nice, yet is anything but.

[ Of course this guy was going to notice company on the beach, though he hadn't been there immediately when Quatre settled down. He'd gone off to get some drinks from the recuperation packs, of the sweeter non-alcoholic varieties. There's a cute stick sticking out from his, 'cause why not.

But what he's interested now is the way Quatre is holding himself, sat there. Maybe he's tired? ]

An Island of Memories

Even without trying this island brings back memories. The last time they were here, not quite a year ago but feeling like forever, he had been here with Lord Gyousou. Picking berries with Inigo and Tidus, swimming, spending time with his king.

Not his king, a king from a different world. His king was dead. It was not something he ever forgot, but some days it hurt more than others and being here, retreading ground where he had spent happy days with him... It hurt.

But despite that he does his best to relax. He can be found on the waters edge, barefoot and dipping his toes in. Or out around the ruins, exploring or sitting quietly, notebook in hand sketching.

Memory Maze

Taiki knows what it is to be missing time. To have parts of his life unknown and unremembered. To know it is important but to have no way to fill the gap. He had spent much of his life like that and so he knows how important it is to figure out what is happening with the train.

So he can be found in the memory maze, a lot. Probably more than was healthy, searching. How do you find a memory?

Unfortunately it means seeing moments from his own life that he would rather not relive, and moments from his friends and fellow voidtreckers that he should be privy to...

(ooc: Here are some starters for memories. Just pick one and I will write up the whole thing. "Hide and Seak", "Like Fire" and "The Yard" (eventually) are cuter ones with "Sports gone Wrong" and "The Door" being the most horror. Everything else is somewhere in the middle. Inigo insists on trying to be there with Taiki in the maze. It's not exactly possible, since it's so easy to lose track of each other between all the memories and the twists and turns, but right now he's managed to be there with his kirin friend - if not just so he can make sure to pull Taiki out if the other stays in there for too long.

.. but of course that also has some nasty side effects. Inigo sure doesn't like sharing his memories, after all.

And while he's been safe so far, with them mostly running into other memories, it seems like his luck has ran out. Because he recognizes the one that's forming in front of them right now, letting them watch it like a movie playing out before their eyes. He recognizes all of it. The scorched earth, the dark sky. The sound of people screaming in the distance. Inigo isn't even visible in the memory just yet, but he knows this. He knows it's Ylisse - the one he left behind to travel to the past.

His stomach turns, knowing what's about to play out. Maybe not the exact moment, because all of his years in the future looked just like this, but he knows it can't be good.

"Taiki, I-- Maybe you should look away."

He barely manages to force out the words, his throat suddenly feeling really dry.

Couldn't finding these memories be any easier? It was feeling like a hassle, the searching and wandering taking place to help find memories that Tidus wasn't sure they'd know how to recover. He hadn't seen anything related to the train so far; it was just other's memories, and too many pathways of the smooth dark rock lit some by the crystals protruding out...

That twists into a yard just then, a group of kids? Kids, shuffling around. Some on the shoulders of others, and Tidus stops with the shifted scenery, looking around him. A memory, but this can't have anything to do with the train either, can it? It's not one of his memories, and he's trying to figure out, wonder who it is this belongs to, what's going on.

Is this some kind of game...?

MEMORY MAZE.

Emet-Selch is well accustomed to reminiscing, to seeing his own past come to life in front of him as he dwells and considers, but it has never been quite like this before.

He had entered the cave out of a sense of curiosity more than anything else, the desire to understand the magicks being used in this strange place, and he had imagined that it might require some activation to start it. Clearly that was not the case as the world around him twisted and changed in shape, bringing him back to a time long in his past, to a world that no longer exists. To a world that he longed to return to more than anything else in the world, hanging heavy on his heart.

The world around him is on fire, smoke billowing and colouring the sky, stained with black. He can see the world almost as if it is through his own eyes once again, stepping forward - but this time there is no black robes around him, no mask to bind him to his company. Instead there is nothing but the sharp sense of pain and anguish as he sees his failure painted before him once again, watches as he sees - nothing. No sense of hope, no chance for a future, all ripped away.

He can see the ghost of Hythlodaeus in front of him, turning to walk to the end, and he longs to shout out to stop him, to give some warning that might never be heeded, because this was the only path. There was nothing else that could be done, no other future they might have chosen, and even spending centuries trying to undo it wasn't good enough.

Emet-Selch cannot help reaching out to touch, as if his fingers might actually be burned by the flame, but it is of course a memory only. There is nothing that he can do other than to accept that this is simply how it is, an echoing memory around him that makes him feel as though his stomach itself has been torn asunder.

Lifting a hand, he covers his face, breathing low and deep, trying to maintain some measure of his composure.

She recognizes the city the moment that the world around her shifts, from the cave to red flames, towering buildings. Emet had recreated this for her, after all; she'd dwelled on those memories long enough. Yet this is somehow different -- less of a lesson and more of a moment in time. She knows who this memory belongs to even before she sees the two figures -- her own heart lodged in her throat as she watches.

So this, Pahja thinks, this was the moment that Emet-Selch watches those that he loved leave him. She doesn't know what happened to Azem beyond what she can surmise -- that she had disagreed and left -- but Hythlodaeus... he volunteered.

His expression guts Pahja as much as Emet's momentary distress as the other man turns away from him. They are both resigned, they both know that this is the end. She wants to do something, anything --

And that's when she catches sight of Emet. Her Emet, not Emet-Selch as he was. Ah. Pahja moves quickly, eyes flicking from the vanishing figure of Hythlodaeus to Emet before she reaches his side. And she just simply stands there for a long moment before reaching out, her fingertips brushing over the back of a hand.

He is not alone here.

Beach Episode
Kairi hadn't been here the first time they came, so she honestly didn't know what she was expecting, but she was at least going to make the most of it. So wearing a pink one-piece with some frill at the bottom she first went to go to the beach. Something she was awfully familiar with and honestly she kinda missed the sand between her toes and the sound of the waves crashing up against the shore.

She couldn't help but smile as she stood there watching out, not taking notice of the world.

Hot Spring
Her next stop was the hot springs and it didn't take her long to get in and sink into the water. As she did she looked around and waving as soon as she spotted anyone.

"Are you planning on joining in?"

Memory Maze
She didn't know what exactly how to find what they were meant to be looking for, but she was at least going to try her best. So she was exploring the maze to the best of her ability in the hopes of finding something no matter what.

Nozomi had THOUGHT this spring was empty and had slipped in to enjoy it. Instead, she was surprised to be called out by Kairi, causing the girl to tense up in surprise.

“M-me?! Sure! Er, um, sure!” She squeaked out, blushing as she did.

1. Back Again

[Masumi sighs as she steps out of the train, remembering the last trip to Jema'grethy and not exactly eager to have people potentially see her memories again. She's got memories she'd rather keep secret, after all, and people seeing them doesn't help with that.

Still, a break is needed, and by the sounds of it there might be a way to help the train out, so she's in.]

2. Hot Springs

[Masumi, now changed into a swimsuit, sinks into the waters of the hot spring with a sigh. After the last couple missions and the attempt at going home, she deeply appreciates the chance to relax and destress, and the hot springs are an excellent way to do that.

If anyone's nearby, she'll gesture with a grin, inviting them to try the springs out for themselves.]

Come on in, it's great! [It really is great.]

3. Beach

[Of course, she's also going to squeeze in some beach time. Or more specifically, she's going to try and use one of the sailing dinghies.

Masumi tried this the last time the train stopped here and it didn't work so well, but that's not going to keep her from trying again! Care to watch her attempts from the shore? Or offer to help?]

4. Memory Maze

[Eventually, it's maze time. Masumi just tries to focus on navigating the caverns, looking for anything that might have to do with the train's original crew. As much as she doesn't want people to see her memories, she's willing to risk it in order to help the train.]

[Of course Jolyne is just an utter mess as usual. But she's a little curious about this whole hot springs thing, she'd heard about them before. From people. Family. That sort of thing. But never really encountered one before.

It sounded like a hot tub, but natural and fancy or something like that. She's brought out of her thoughts with a bit of a jolt when she hears Masumi's voice, a brow raising slowly.]

You know, I heard that a lot of these usually disallowed clothes. Not that I'm complaining. [It's a little easier when you know people who aren't going to kill you out of nowhere or something. And she's a little more comfortable with the springs than she is the full out ocean by itself. This is... safer. There's a bottom that exists.]

Guess it was about time something nice happened. [She muses to herself as she moves to slip into the springs herself, immediately taking to finding a spot where she can get about neck deep. It's... feeling wound up muscles untensing that really gets to her, knowing that she'd been holding onto all of that without noticing. Typical.]

Beach Body Ready

It's been a few hours since the Voidtrecker Express arrived at Jema'Grethy Island and contrary to her normal state of business Q'uila has barely moved a muscle since she strolled out to the sunniest part of the beach, placing down her towel before lying down herself and dropping into the multiverse's most content and restful cat nap if the loud rumbling of her purring is anything to go by.

Q'uila does now have a dilemma, as lovely as the azure bikini is, it doesn't provide much protection from the sun. Blearily lifting her head up, Q'uila glances around before waving another traveller down.

"Could I ask a favour?"

Under the Sea

Rested and relaxed, it's time for exploration, and given the heat the sea looks even more inviting than normal.

"Are you also going diving?" Q'uila's ears perk up and she grins, "Would you mind the company?"

Just ignore that fact that she is making no attempts at getting together any scuba gear.

Campfires and Friends

As the day starts to draw to a close, the sun begins to set, and the temperature cools Q'uila pulls the last of the logs she'd been collecting into place and with a deep breath, exhales curling flames onto the wood and gets the bonfire roaring.

"Come and join! We have drinks, food, and Mayhaps even some rousing songs as the night progresses!"

Wildcard

Q'uila will be all over the island this trip. If there's anywhere else you'd like to bump into her, then this is for you!

Beach... body?!

Time on the train might have dulled Edge's sharp corners and drained some of his old exuberant energy, but not to such an extent that he doesn't appreciate the swimsuits on display, and the people wearing them in turn. So when Quila calls out, he jumps, thinking that she might not appreciate his appreciating -- but that quickly proves false, unless she's actually much more devious than he has any reason to expect.

So over Edge paces. "Of course. Favors are always free for the asking!"

Swimming

It's been a while since she swam. There hadn't been many missions that required it but she knew that practising was important. She needed to keep it up or she would forget and that would be a problem if she needed to swim again.

So she spends time in the sea, never going too far away but diligently swimming, ducking under the water, holding her breath, resurfacing. A few times she gets buffeted by waves but she recovers quickly. Hoping that no one sees her less than graceful tumbling.

Base Jumping

Last time she had been here Lightning had taken her jumping. She still had the grav con she had given her. It was always useful and practice was always good..

So she clambers to the top of the cliffs, finding a good place. High up but with a good path, she planned to do this more than once after all.

She found some space and ran forwards, ready to hurl herself off the cliff. Hopefully this is not too concerning for anyone witnessing this...

Memory Cave

What sort of stupid train loses memories? This sort of stupid train it seemed. She sighed. It was bad enough strange memory things happened on this island, never mind purposefully trying to deal with memories...

She lets her mind go to the caves, seeing memories, seeing her own. It's difficult, there's so much that needs to be hidden. She tries to move away from the memories as quickly as she can.

Swimming

At some point during her practice, Koumyou's ridiculous pink doughnut (complete with 'frosting' and 'sprinkles') of a pool floaty from Aquafir comes drifting nearby, with the priest lounging on top of it. He's not trying to steer or control the thing in any obvious way, but whenever the water tries to tug him out to sea, it ends up nudging him right back in again.

He's got his headphones on, and sunglasses, and his amazing pink swim trunks with yellow rubber duckies printed on them. Those shorts leave a lot of skin exposed, but he's pretty chill about it.

And coated in sunblock.

Naturally, he looks up once he's in range of Buttercup, and waves at her in a moment when she's surfaced. 'Sup! "You seem pretty energetic today, Buttercup. Aren't we supposed to be relaxing or something?"

He's pretty sure that's why they're here, anyway. Someone may have said. He probably hadn't paid any attention.

Fun time with Kubfu
It seemed like a good time as any to let his little friend out to play. Especially in a place as nice as this can be. SO his friend can be found playing in the water or kicking over a sandcastle Yugi had just built not really understanding that is not wat you do with them, but it was enough for Yugi to build another one for him to purposely knock down.

His friend was having fun so he wasn't exactly mad about it.

Memory Maze
Yugi wanted to help to the best of his ability and so even if it meant facing some memories he would like to forget. He was going to at least try. Seeing memories he had thought he had forgotten, memories that to him were even fresher and some he was just trying to pretend weren't there. he had to face them to find the memories for the train.

Genjo Sanzo spent most of his time on this vacation keeping to himself. But as the days passed and he slowly took his time to deal with the chaotic whirlwind of the memory caves emotionally, he started to understand why they needed a vacation spot to coincide with it all.

He just happened to be walking down the shoreline when he saw what appeared to be some kid destroying buildings of sand with what appeared to be-- Was that bear???

Okay. That was a bit of a strange sight.

Were they working together on this?

Was the bear a Voidtrecker like the rest of them?

He couldn't help but stare curiously from the sidelines. Interested but not wanting to interrupt whatever it was they were doing.

Boating/fishing

The first thing Sonya does, once she gets the proper supplies, is go fishing. It's early enough, she was hoping the fish..if there were indeed fish, would still be biting. She couldn't recall the last time she was able to go fishing (perhaps the year before her death?), and like hell would she pass this by.

Catch her either about to head on the boat, or returning with a small catch for the day.

Rock pooling

Marine biology was always one of her interests, and had she been able to retire, she would've used to the GI bill to earn a degree.

With wading boots and a pair of jeans over her swimsuit, Sonya's taken one of the buckets and net from the train, and has set to exploring the various rock pools by the cliffs. The rocky terrain is uneven, and taking a step can be tricky at times, but the urge to explore and seen what 'exactly' is living in the various pools.

At one point or another, she uses the net to prod and pull something from the water, an excited look on her face as she examines her find.

Beach
At some point, she does find herself able to just relax and unwind, finding one of the food packs and a blanket, she sets herself on the beach, absorbed in the scenery and white noise of the beach.

She'd gotten so used to the cramped quarters of the Train, so used to the various missions and life threatening situations, it was easy for her to forget how..nice..it could be just to get some R&R.

Her swim suit doesn't leave much to the imagination, but more than anything, it shows decades of battle scars on her person. The various burns, stabbings, bullet wounds, and what might look like teeth wounds all along a good three fourths of her body. At one point or another she might've been self conscious about them, but she was well past that age-and after her 'soon to be death', well, she was just glad to still be living with all of her limbs.

Beach

R&R was definitely not something Trunks was used to, although Cassie had been teaching him to get used to it. Currently, he was taking some of it himself. Walking along the beach in a dark purple and black rash-guard top and board shorts. Comfortable in his bare feet.

He grins though, and thankfully is all too aware of all the scars Blade has to be scandalized by her choice of swimwear. (The same suit on Cassie made him blush hard still.) "Blade" He called, friendly, so as to not sneak up on her.

Xie'er/Scorpion King

1.) Beach- Xie'er was excited to be able to check out the beach. He had never been to one, only having lakes and rivers. Eagerly he carefully walked along the sand having taking his boots off and the main layer of his robes. It was too hot to have all the layers one. He only kept his shirt and pants disregarding looking proper to be cooler in the heat. They were neatly piled away from the water, but with in reach to place on later. He walked along the water lettig the waves crash on his bare feet. Every so often he bent down to pick up an interesting shell or stone that the waters and sand would reveal.
2. ) Hot springs- Xie'er had been to one or two in the past and it was considered rare treat. Yet, he was mainly there to listen in on the conversations while waiting on his godfather. His godfather had wanted him to collect information that may tell them that a certain sect was doig illegal trades and plotting. Here....now he could actually enjoy it.

Beach

Xie Lian is still in his white robes, having not bothered to try any of the strange swimming attire that had been supplied to them. His straw hat is on his head, blocking the sun from his face. He is barefoot as he walks along the sand.

He smiles as he comes upon someone else on the beach. "They have chosen a lovely place to bring us."

Ryo

1. Confusion

Ryo has never been to a beach before. Sure, he's been to harbor towns, and he's been to lakes and rivers, but an ocean beach with warm sands is a new experience. To that end, he's eager for some rest, but still a little lost.

You might find him in the dressing car, going through the available clothes, looking like he's about to choose an outfit before discarding it and looking at another. "Do you know what to wear in a place like this?"

Or you might find him on the beach himself, sitting on a towel, with the plastic bucket and shovel provided by the train next to him. He's currently going through the contents of his recuperation pack, sorting things on his towel. Lagos, ever with his own motivations, has stolen Ryo's stir stick (topped with a small green bird, of course), and is currently perched atop the overturned plastic bucket, flapping his wings a bit to get the sand out of them. Victory is his!

2. Relaxation

There's a hot springs here.

All bets are off once Ryo learns that. He's found swim trunks (because people will still insist on those, for some reason); he's borrowed an arms band and put a few snacks and cold drinks into it; and he's headed towards the hot spring. If he sees a friend on the way, he may excitedly drag them with him - "It's a hot spring! It's like the spa car, but better!" - or he may invite people to join him once he's already settled in the spring, hair tied up out of the water, submerged up to his neck and just relaxing.

This is the best he's felt in weeks. Come join him.

3. Memories

The memory maze may be why they're here in the first place, but he still approaches it with some amount of trepidation. He doesn't know what to expect, but with how hurt some of the people here are, he knows it could very well be bad.

So when he steps into a memory, he does his best to stay quiet unless someone reaches out to him. The question is, is the memory one of his, or is it one of yours?

What an opportune meeting. And by opportune one means, of course, that Kabuto is doing a damn good job on remaining neutral while rummaging through the other side of the clothing choices. He's... well, to put it mildly, a little annoyed about things that have happened in the past time and he's been relatively quiet. Probably for the best.

Which might be precisely why his tone is completely flat and neutral, with no hint of bite or sting to it. "Typically the expectation is men wearing some sort of short of a... more water resistant material, with or without a shirt as is to the wearer's level of comfort." He huffs for a second to himself while pulling back and squinting his nose at a very loud pink and white floral pattern.

He doesn't know why they have come to this place. He doesn't change into one of the swimming outfits. He still wears the layers even to the beach. But at least they are outside and for that he is thankful. He simply stands and watches the water with his hand behind his back. Clearly relaxed even if not exactly doing what people would usually do at the beach.

Memory Share
For those that encounter him in the Memory Share they will see a combination of memories. The first is a temple where many cultivators appear to be having a difficult time. Discussions of treachery over the years and more people dying because of that treachery.

The next memory is a little more pleasant. Young cultivators dressed in white. Each one drawing on a lantern. It is obvious to those that know them that Lan Wangji, Wei Wuxian, Jiang cheng and others are among those on the top of the mountain. He stands besides Wei Wuxian as a lantern with rabbits gets lifted into the air.

The final memory isn't a good one. His hand desperately gripping that of Wei Wuxian as he dangles off the side of a mountain. Desperation in his expression as he tries to keep the other from falling. Devastation as the man falls into the abyss below.

The whiplash of memories really threw him off. Jin Ling wasn't expecting to walk into something that was familiar to him, yet not at the same time.

The memories are quite fragmented so it was hard for him to keep up. Before, he could process, another memory played and he tried his best to keep himself grounded. However, it was getting alarmingly hard to focus.

Another one. Jin Ling almost covered his face when he watched Wei Wuxian fall into the abyss. What the heck did he walk into? He knew they were one of two things-- illusions, or someone's memory. Since, he kept seeing what appeared to be people's memories, he was assuming this might be just that.

"Ugh...when will it stop?"

I - Playing with fire (Rabbit, day 9)
There's flammable fuel available right there!

It's free for the taking. Sure, it's meant to be used for the barbecues and to help start fires on the beach and such, but Esteban cannot believe his luck that it's just... up for grabs. Not even supervised or anything!

So yes, he's careful enough to read the labels on it, and do an allergy check first-- he's reckless, not moronic-- but after carefully keeping track of his skin's reaction an hour after applying a bit of it, he considers it safe-enough. And gleefully sets himself to finding what he can do with what little material they have.

So he's having fun! Don't mind him, pooling some of the fuel in his hand, and setting it on fire. Thankfully the rocky beach is mostly deserted, beyond the simple torch he's made, to avoid handling the small canister of fuel he's left some distance away.

II - Beach time!
The memory stones are... mentally challenging. It leaves him with a bit of pressure between his eyes, or at the top front of his head, and Esteban finds himself regretfully parting from them to take some time to himself, wandering the beaches when he feels them encroach upon his thoughts.

It's sunny, and playfully bright, lifting his mood instantly as he wanders, barefooted in the sand. Nearby, someone-- or more likely whoever caters to the island-- has left some colourful things to pick at, and the half-elf drifts there to pick at the small shovels, castle toppers, and pair of goggles that sort of resemble the VR headset? It takes him a moment to understand what they're used for, and the brightness of his smile settles his decision for now-- a bit of water exploration sounds like just the plan!

III - Spinning fire (Rabbit, day 11, late evening)
He's missed this. Oh, he's missed this so much.

The poi dangle from his hands, sweeping gentle circles as he prepares himself for the show he's promised, bright pinpricks of fires and flame in the pitch darkness of the night. The beach is safe from any stray spark, and the smooth sand makes it comfortable for people to sit and enjoy the show. He breathes deeply in; feeling the flames lick at the tip of his fingers, whirling the fire in a circle above his head. And out, a slow exhale that smooths any anxiety.

And he moves.

Inigo definitely doesn't realise what Esteban has set his sights on here. Sure, he spotted the other and saw that Esteban was looking at some of the equipment they have to play around with here, but it's not like Inigo is thinking much about the diving equipment.

No, he mostly sees the stuff that's there to play in the sand with, so he just calmly smiles when he approaches the other.

"Wow, Esteban. Are you about to go build a sand castle?"

No, Inigo, that isn't the thing your friend is looking at here.. But Inigo is still blissfully ignorant in this moment.

Xie Lian thought the bathing suits were rather amusing but he has chosen to wear his robes to the beach regardless. He isn't shy but he doesn't really see much reason to bare all at the beach. He does walk along the sand barefoot, enjoying the fact that he is outside and able to enjoy such a thing.

Hot spring
He does know how to at least enjoy a hot spring. He settles into the warm water and closes his eyes. He has heard stories about the mazes and so he is going to stay as far away from that as he can. He doesn't want anyone to have to see some of the things he has gone through in his long lifetime. So instead he is going to enjoy a safe and quiet area of the resort.

Beach

Bruno sat on a large, flattish rock, staring at the ocean. Just... staring. His eyes were wide, his mouth hung slightly open, and he practically radiated a sense of awe and wonder.

He'd known that oceans existed, of course. He'd seen maps, globes, and paintings. But none of them had prepared him for his first sight of the real thing. It was probably going to take awhile for him be able to pull himself away from it, but he probably wouldn't mind some company while he was there.

Hot Springs

Something else Bruno hadn't ever seen before, even if he was aware of their existence; natural hot springs. Fortunately they weren't as awe inducing as the ocean. Unfortunately, they were a bit embarrassment inducing. He was very aware of his still somewhat scrawny body being clad only in a pair of blue swim trunks and a towel as he approached one of the outdoor pools, and wasn't sure how he felt about having to abandon the towel once he got in.

Especially since someone was already there. "Hey," he said, giving an awkward little wave to the pool's occupant. "Do you... mind if I join you?"

Clad in a t-shirt, swim trunks, and sunglasses, and with a beach towel slung over his shoulder, Lea took a breath of salty air as he stood on the edge of the beach, where grass and dirt gave way to rocks and sand. "Well guys," he said, "we finally all made it. And with a little luck, we'll have a few days where we'll have nothing to do but enjoy it."

"So what do you guys want to do first? Swimming? Seashell hunting? Maybe build a sandcastle?"
