Day 11 Catfish - everybody else!
Evacuation
Once Rath and Voidtrecker volunteers go off to Blue Mountain the rest of the scientists get ready for the final evacuation off planet.
Earthquakes are regular enough now that it seems strange when the earth is not shaking. It makes it difficult to pack the last of the equipment, get the final lindusi into their containers and start boarding the shuttles.
They need help everywhere, people to ride with the lindusi, others to keep the evacuees calm. Others to carry equipment and load shuttles. People to keep children occupied and out of the way. Slowly but surely the shuttles are loaded and the journey begins.
Space Station
There are scientists and guards waiting at the space station to help unload, lindusi need unloading and taken to containing pens. People need reunited with those that evacuated before them and registered, in an attempt to make sure everyone is accounted for.
The Voidtreckers may do what they like once the work is done, a time to relax after a job well done. Or to fret about those who are still on the planet.
In the control room there is an attempt to keep radio contact with the group on the ground, but as the planet destabilises more it gets more difficult. Signs show that the planet has mere hours before it can not sustain human life anymore.
But the scientists seem to have some faith that these void warriors are up for the job.

Maglor had intended to be the very last to leave, but...he recognizes that look in his friend's eyes. He's still reluctant, glancing away, toward where his father and younger brother had gone off to, but eventually he resigns himself to listen
to one who isn't afraid to shove food down his throat or make him restto reason. So he nods and follows Ignis to the nearest shuttle, encouraging a few more people on in.

It was hard to be looked after because all the years in the King's service, he'd been the protector and did the looking out. It was hard even as Maglor was a friend and one from the family of elves they had on board that Ignis fed and kept an eye out for.
Patiently he waited, knowing what it was like to want to make sure everyone else was safe before leaving. That had been his own mistake before he'd taken off on the last mission. And that mistake was the very reason Maglor was here now.
Getting a few more on the shuttle, Ignis had the elf get on first before he himself boarded.

While he obediently gets on ahead of Ignis, he immediately turns to make sure the man is right there boarding immediately after. But then there's no more space, and it seems the only people left are those Tony and that group went off to try and save.
"Now is the most difficult time," he murmurs to his friend, lips in a grim line. "Waiting for news."
no subject
"I suppose there's some comfort in knowing they're worried about you?" The advisor was trying to keep Maglor focused. "And if that were us going off on our own, they'd be the ones sitting here fretting."
Not that Ignis had any plans to make Tony worry because the man could become an overprotective suit of iron. Heavens knew that his lover had given him an earful and threatened to kick his ass if he had to go rescue him again.

He understands the intent, and manages a small smile for the effort. "My brother Maedhros has it the worst of us. Father made him stay behind." And for good reason.
He makes himself take a calming breath. "I had the easiest job." Keeping Ignis safe! And that gets Ignis another wry little smile.
no subject
The easiest job tugged a smile from the advisor. "One that hopefully you will be relieved from next time." If not, Ignis was going to have some serious mental ass kicking to do because now he was returning from this particular mission hale and hearty.
"Though I do thank you for assisting my team. This whole mission was easier than the last." He had Raven to keep an eye on Madoka, Joss to watch over Romeo and Ple Two could definitely take care of herself though Ignis got status reports.

Maglor doesn't quite shrug. "Tony has done much for my family and I. He did not force this task on me, I offered so as to help quiet his mind." He'd do it again, and again, so long as he knows Maedhros doesn't need him for the same protection detail.
He inclines his head. "I was glad to do it. We're all adjusting more and more to what is set for us each month."
no subject
A sigh escaped Ignis and he was quiet a moment. "I'm rather glad he's been such a huge help to you and your family." Not that he needed confirmation but it was such as to how he'd been lucky in having such a wonderful man in his life. One that he wished he could take home with him whenever the train was done with the two of them.
"That is quite true. And if we're on the same schedule it should be quiet for a little while until the next mission, giving us more time to prepare." That would mean his team specifically.
no subject
Maglor reaches out to lightly clasp and squeeze the man's shoulder, both in thanks and in understanding. He's not jealous of what Ignis and Tony have- both are good, kind men and he's glad they aren't alone.
"And we'd best make the most of it." He could guess what comes next, in a couple weeks or so. Time is a funny thing, as he'd told Tony before. "I hope you will let me know if I can help you in your preparations."
no subject
The kindness was extending to help after this too and he smiled gratefully. "I've need to train my team and have them function more cohesively as a unit." That included getting Madoka trained up by Raven.
"If you have the time I would appreciate the assistance. Romeo could use more hands on training." Which was true.
no subject
"Just tell me when, and how challenging I should make the training. Otherwise, I'll have them start from the beginning until they show they're ready for more." He's trained children from helplessness to sure warriors.
no subject
Ignis couldn't help but smile as the contact broke. "I'd be grateful for an extra pair of hands to get them ready for the next time." As loathe as he is to have them on the battlefield.

Children were to be protected and the advisor half felt as though he was betraying them by allowing them onto the battlefield. Not that it was his decision but he still felt badly.
no subject
"The children will be protected," he murmurs. "In and out of danger. I taught...some elflings..." prisoners/his sons/kidnapped children "how to fight and survive. They went on to help end wars."
no subject
Well home, but like Tony there was nothing to go home to. And he had no idea if Maglor and his kin had anywhere to go to either. It was a saddening thought but he kept it masked.
"I would be grateful."
no subject
"I wish it were not necessary," he continues quietly with almost a sigh. "Peace is never easy to maintain, no matter how much one might wish it."
Maglor inclines his head. "If I had my way, everyone would be protected." But he knows better.
no subject
"Mine as well." the advisor replied softly, thinking of Noct and what he would face. And then he thought of Tony giving his life to end a war.

The elf manages a wry little smile again, then glances out the viewport as the shuttle seems to slow. "Not much longer. Hopefully the last group," meaning Tony and the rest, "will join us within the day."
no subject
As for Feanor, Ignis had a lot of respect for him and no reason to change that. That man had to be formidable as well to have raised the children he had.
no subject
"And we'll be there to take care of them." Right up to shoving food and water down their throats, making sure they're unharmed, or patching them up if not. And then making them sleep.
no subject
"I do believe that's half the fun after all. They go off and play the big heroes and then they have to come home and answer to you."
He totally knew all about those things.
