Let it Snow: Blue Start

The moment the doors open for purple to jump the train is speaking again. “Blue team to doors. Void shift imminent. Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one” The train lurches and shudders as the windows flash the colour of the void for a split second before it shakes again and they are back in that frozen tundra.

The doors open and blue can jump down into a large snowdrift. They are at the foot of an impressive mountain range. Snow swirls around them, the wind hows. Ahead of them, half obscured by snow is a tunnel entrance.

Even getting there is exhausting, wading through the snow. Inside there is no snow but it is cold. The walls and floor shine with ice and the way is treacherous. It is pitch black.

Their task is to find those hiding in the tunnels. Some have formed makeshift camps in large caverns, others have fled into the small tunnels and have gotten themselves lost.

The voidtreckers are lucky to at least have a map on their SCA though it does not show where anybody else it. It is time to start the task of rounding everyone up and making sure they can survive the storm.

The little girl gave a smile and then rejoined her family. Namine's words spoken to him on the train about helping others ran through his head as he stood, listening to Romeo's report. His green eyes stayed watching the family sit down around the fire for a moment longer before looking back at the boy.

"Now tell me when the last time you ate or rested was?"

He had to look out for his team.

Romeo's eyes flickered back to Ignis as he thought. Last time he ate or rested. Hmm. He had last eaten? He's hungry but that's no indication of time, he's always hungry even when he has just eaten a big meal.

"Um I ate after we made those fires... and I rested in the tunnel! The little boy was tired so we sat down, it was cold though so we got back up again."

He's not tired though, there's lots of people to save!

Hearing the explanation, Ignis nodded. "I have another small batch of hot chocolate. Then go and warm yourself by the fire, I'll bring it to you." It was the least he could think to do for this brave member of his team. Romeo had a good heart as he believed all of his team did. He only had one reservation but Luke had already spoken to him about that honestly.

"Are you sure sir?" Mister Ignis was working really hard as well so it didn't feel right that Romeo should go sit by the fire while he made hot chocolate.

Surely mister Ignis needed rest too!

"I'm certain." Ignis replied with a smile. Really, it was endearing at how both Madoka and Romeo worried over him. Combined, the two probably worried about him too much. But it only served to remind him that he favoured his own team and reasons like this were why he thought his team was the best, with how much they cared.

"Okay sir... But next time I'm going to make hot chocolate for you, alright?"

Because that was only fair. Ignis shouldn't have to be the one looking after everyone! Romeo smiled at him. "Thank you!"

"That sounds like an agreeable deal." The advisor couldn't help but smile at Romeo. Really the kid was such a thoughtful and sweet darling, he must be sorely missed where he was from.

If asked, he would say this was his job as the Blue team leader. Even as unexpected as the role had been, he always did his best to look after them and would continue to do so. So after he finished making it, as promised it was brought over.

"Are you warm enough?"

"Thank you sir!" Romeo nodded, he was warm enough by the fire, he still had his big thick jacket on and the trusty hat! He was glad he had found such a good hat!

"I am sir! If I get cold I will get back to work, it's the best way to stay warm after all!"

It would be odd to have any one in his team do things like he did for them. He just tried to be good to his team, look after them and treat them with respect. Expecting any sort of reciprocation wasn't who he was.

Ignis admired Romeo's 'can do' spirit and nodded. "Rest is important too, so don't forget to take breaks."

Romeo nodded again, taking breaks was important, which is why he wanted to make sure Ignis did that too. Ignis was very good at looking after everybody.

"I hope we got everybody, sir! I only found that one family and they were all the way in a tunnel a long way away. I'm not sure if anyone went further but it's almost as much as you can talk there and back in a whole day!"

"We'll have to make sure they have plenty of warmth and food." As well as everyone else too. "I'm going to go do my rounds to make sure everyone is alright. If there's any healing that needs to be done I will accomplish that as well."

This was why he hoped he would get more healers on the team because they were so sorely needed, especially at times like this.

"Okay sir! Be careful!" He knows mister Ignis is very strong, but even grown ups needed reminded to look after themselves sometimes.

He sipped his hot chocolate, enjoying the way it made the whole of him feel warm.
