Let it Snow: Blue Start

The moment the doors open for purple to jump the train is speaking again. “Blue team to doors. Void shift imminent. Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one” The train lurches and shudders as the windows flash the colour of the void for a split second before it shakes again and they are back in that frozen tundra.

The doors open and blue can jump down into a large snowdrift. They are at the foot of an impressive mountain range. Snow swirls around them, the wind hows. Ahead of them, half obscured by snow is a tunnel entrance.

Even getting there is exhausting, wading through the snow. Inside there is no snow but it is cold. The walls and floor shine with ice and the way is treacherous. It is pitch black.

Their task is to find those hiding in the tunnels. Some have formed makeshift camps in large caverns, others have fled into the small tunnels and have gotten themselves lost.

The voidtreckers are lucky to at least have a map on their SCA though it does not show where anybody else it. It is time to start the task of rounding everyone up and making sure they can survive the storm.

[Ground]--After a day or two.

[Raven was exhausted, and teleporting while exhausted was probably stupid. But she'd feel better once she checked in, and she had a good 'feel' of Ignis' presence to her Empathy. Homing in on that, and hopefully he wouldn't be too surprised when she arrived.

Against a nearby wall, swirling portal of Raven's dark-energy appeared. It might not be easy to tell however given the darkness. Hopefully though, she is recognizable enough as she comes through the portal and drops to her knees.

"Ignis?"

Hearing Raven's voice which was definitely unexpected had Ignis turn immediately in the sound of that direction. A dagger appeared and turned to fire so that the man could see her.

When she dropped to her knees, he was at her side in a second. "I'm right here." The fire dagger moved to the side and he hit her with a restorative potion without a second thought. With the king's magic mixed in with his own, the potion should have her back on her feet within moments, but he stayed near her protectively regardless.

No one and nothing was going to hurt Raven, not while Ignis was on watch.

"Not injured..." So that she could make that clear, because he should save his healing. Except he was already doing something with a potion and his magic. "...thank you. Just tired." Bundled up in her team's winter gear without her cloak.

The healing helped, even if she's shaking her head. "Sorry for the surprise arrival. Wanted to check on you guys." And rest a bit, from the constant onslaught while still being useful. Hence, her checking on another team.

A smile appeared though it left just as quickly disappeared and a firm voice came out. "If you're tired..you can certainly rest here." Cold as it might be, (though it was cold everywhere really) the man could start a fire.

"You've no need to be sorry." Raven was always welcome wherever he was as far as Ignis was concerned honestly. "We're fine though I thank you for checking. I'll make a fire." If Tony could get those radios up and running, this wouldn't be an issue and the poor girl wouldn't have to drain her precious resources trying to be courteous and kind to check up on him and his team.

It didn't take long before he had a fire going. Looking over at Raven he shook his head. "If you need more blankets let me know. And when was the last time you ate?"

"The fire helps, and as long as I'm out of the wind I'm okay. I'm kind of tougher than most would think." Settling herself closer to the warmth, she pulled her backpack around from behind her. "Doing so right now, even if you weren't worrying over it." Pulling out a food ration. "I have some basic medical supplies in here too, so we're not completely dependent on scavenging. Although if you guys know you'll need something, I can try and find and get it here."

He didn't comment about Raven being tougher than she looked, but Ignis totally respected the attitude. His eyes kept a lookout and even though he was called out on worrying, with her he wasn't trying to pull punches.

So he said nothing but was satisfied to see that she was eating. "We're doing alright down here. But I am going to speak to Tony after to see about radios." His eyes looked over at a certain member of his team as they passed by.

"How are the other teams holding up?"

"We're in a closer proximity, so to speak, than I am to the other teams. I can try and home in on Tony in a bit, but I don't know if I have enough of a sense for anyone on Orange team to home in properly on them." Explaining, neutral, because the fact that she could do this because of the close proximity of the tunnels and the valley with the town was the only reason she'd tried it.

"The snowstorm out there makes it all but impossible to fly safely for more than a short burst if you go higher than a single story. It's disorienting, so if any of you go outside--be warned." Radios would be amazingly convenient. "I'm surprised our SCAs don't have some kind of communication feature, honestly."

"No." Ignis was being firm again. "Rest, eat and stay warm. I'm sure he and his team are doing just fine." He didn't want to have Raven over extend herself more than she already had.

Shaking his head, the advisor really couldn't say he was happy in the tunnels, but right now they beat being outside with the snow furiously spinning out there. "I know they've been talking of it, but it really needs to become reality. Even our healing could possibly become more coordinated."
azrthmtrnznthos: (If you say so)

[personal profile] azrthmtrnznthos 2020-01-20 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
"I mean, I wasn't going to now." Raven responded a bit testily. "I am resting, and part of why I'm doing so here, instead of back in the village is so I can check on you guys too." For all the annoyance in her tone though, she was calm. If she wasn't, her powers would've caused a reaction.

"They probably haven't had time or resources. Certainly half the train getting sick didn't help."

Her tone didn't bother him and in fact it made him smile inwardly. It was different than the usual monotone he got from her. And at least as Raven said, she was both eating and resting.

A small sigh came out. "I'm not sure that sickness won't be going back around with everyone being exposed to the cold as we all have been."
azrthmtrnznthos: (If you say so)

"The 'cold' is less the problem than the constant fatigue." Raven sighed, possibly revealing more than she meant to about her own level of tiredness too. "Once you've made sure everyone's safe once we're back on the train, I say you and Evie make huge vats of soup. Preventative measures and all."

There was a pause, and she turned to try and meet his eyes. "Scratch that. First thing once you're sure everyone's safe and we're back is this. If Tony doesn't kidnap you, you and I are sitting and just breathing and trying to relax, over a nice cup of herbal tea."

The fatigue comment got a look but Ignis said nothing. He did nod though to Raven's suggestion. "Soup, tea and everything else that is warm, including rest."

"We should definitely look to have at least two healers on each team if that's indeed possible. Having one is too few." He poured himself more coffee and thought. "More healers should be helpful depending on the team's size of course."

This thoughtfulness turned to mirth. "He's not going to kidnap me. He has more than enough people to occupy his time." A nod. "Breathing and tea sounds like a splendid idea."
