Let it Snow: Orange Start

The moment Red team jumps the voice speaks again. “Orange team to doors. Void shift imminent. Ten, nine, eight, seven...” There is a lurch and the train seems to tumble. The windows flash with the void for a second before they are once again surrounded by snow.

The train steadies, the doors open, the train is in mid-air and one step away from the train doors there is an ice platform. Crossing is not too hard, though a bit daunting. They are very high up and the ice is inherently slippy.

The platform is not large enough for them all and so the only natural way is for them to begin entering the labyrinth to allow everyone off the train. The moment the last person leaves the train it blinks away and the moment everyone has entered the labyrinth there is a grinding sound and the ice behind them closes.

For good or ill they have entered. Their goal is clear, a strange machine suspended in the centre of the maze but getting there will be a challenge. Though it looks like they should be able to merely walk towards it walls of ice stand in their way. The only way to stop any of this is to get through the labyrinth.

Well, at least Heiji hadn't dropped him in that landing. Conan regains his feet and adjusts his pack.

"We don't know what the rest of this maze is going to be like," he points out. "It's light enough, and I'd rather have it and not need it."

"Fine, but I'm not carrying it if you get tired," he warned. They both knew it was a bluff though. If Conan needed help, there was no way Hattori wouldn't step up.

He cautiously took a few steps and his frown deepened as every other step had him sliding a bit. "You might have an advantage being so close to the ground already."

Conan gave him a look that wordlessly expressed 'just who did you think you were talking to'. Of course he wouldn't have packed a bag and supplies that he wasn't confident of being able to carry.

"Really, Hattori? You're starting with those jokes already?"

Though Conan was having an easier time of it, already shifting into a careful gliding step that allowed him to keep his balance.

Heiji shrugged. It sounded funny to him. "Just because you have no sense of humor.." He teased lightly before just letting it drop.

He took a few more careful steps. "So, this is going to be interesting. Hope whatever this is keeping the maze afloat keeps doing it."

"That's the best reason to hurry and get through this maze I can think of."

Because they were good, but there wasn't much they could do about keeping the maze up while they were inside it.
