Let it Snow: Orange Start

The moment Red team jumps the voice speaks again. “Orange team to doors. Void shift imminent. Ten, nine, eight, seven...” There is a lurch and the train seems to tumble. The windows flash with the void for a second before they are once again surrounded by snow.

The train steadies, the doors open, the train is in mid-air and one step away from the train doors there is an ice platform. Crossing is not too hard, though a bit daunting. They are very high up and the ice is inherently slippy.

The platform is not large enough for them all and so the only natural way is for them to begin entering the labyrinth to allow everyone off the train. The moment the last person leaves the train it blinks away and the moment everyone has entered the labyrinth there is a grinding sound and the ice behind them closes.

For good or ill they have entered. Their goal is clear, a strange machine suspended in the centre of the maze but getting there will be a challenge. Though it looks like they should be able to merely walk towards it walls of ice stand in their way. The only way to stop any of this is to get through the labyrinth.

"Can you really tell all that from the size of the entrance?" He was genuinely curious. Mazes were something rather new to him. (Unless he counted that time in the Lost Land.)

"Well, I don't mean to brag, but yeah. Travel around time and space for as long as I have and you pick up a few things." He straightens his coat a little.

"But, I might be able to cheat a bit." He pulls his screw driver out and presses the button, frowning heavily when he doesn't get the reading he was hoping for. "Okay, so I can't cheat."

"I've done a bit of traveling through time,myself," Will points out. "Don't think that's one of the things I picked up."

He frowns. "And I can't feel anything from within the maze."

"Yes, but I'm excellent at find trouble." He says proudly, smacking the screwdriver on his palm.

"Oh! There we go! Back on course to cheat! We'll get there in no time now." Or the signals wrong and they'll spend a lot of time getting turned around.

"What does that do, exactly?"

"So glad you asked me that, Will! Basically, I'm locking on to the signal of the machine and that way we'll be led right to it." The Doctor says, happy with with his own genius. This mission will be over in no time. Or at least, so he thinks.

"How do you know it is the right machine?"

He was really quite curious about how this worked.

"Well... because..." The Doctor starts, checking the screw driver's signal again. "I do. Coming?"

Will privately thinks that that wasn't an explanation at all, but gives up the effort.

"Of course," he says. "Lead the way."
