Day 7: Screw your courage to the sticking place: Start

For those who have been on the train a little while they will be expecting this, the beginning of a new month, after certain passengers have strange dreams. Early in the morning of day seven of the month of Egret their SCA's glow the colour of the void and a holographic message appears. Their next mission. Another world to save.

Preperation

Those that go to the dressing room will find flight suits and helmets, one per passenger. Those who are not human shaped will find ones adapted for them, some of them quite odd. The flight suits are tight fitting and light, but once they put them on they will feel quite warm. Each is the colour of the Voidtreckers team and have a black train symbol on the chest, the helmets have clear fronts and coloured backs.

They have an hour or so to prepare for their mission. Time to make sure everyone understands what a space ship is, at least. Hopefully.

Arrival

"We are now approaching System #7212108." Finally it is time. "Warning: Exit from void in ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one." A jolt, a flash of light and suddenly the colours are gone, out of the windows they will see they are in a large hanger.

And outside of the train there are five scaled humanoids with guns pointing directly at the train. Those that try the doors find they do not open.

"What void transport is this?" One of the creatures demands. "We didn't request void help, explain yourselves."

Another speaks. From where they are stood near the engine. "Voidtrecker Express."

Even though the voidtreckers are unfamiliar with these people the surprise is clear in the creatures eyes.

"Stand down." They snap at the others, who lower their weapons and step back.

The commander looks worried. "Give them anything they need." They turn to hurry out of the hanger.

The doors open, allowing the Voidtreckers off the train.

One of the remaining guards steps forwards.

"I am Hitrinto, I apologise, we were not expecting you." They look worried as well. "We have everything under control but if you are here..."

At that moment there is a clatter of noise over the radio.

"There are reports coming in of a second wormhole in the system." A second voice spoke almost immediately. "Shield Station Two has been hit. I repeat Shield Station two is taking heavy fire." A third soon after. "More enemies ships sighted, reports of a second wormhole confirmed."

Hitrinto looked at the Voidtreckers grimly. "Come with me."

If the Voidtreckers indeed follow them they will find an array of ships. Hitrinto quickly explains the basics, two person ships are easier to pilot. The controls can be shared or can be set so one person drives whilst the other concentrates on fighting. They have solo ships but they are difficult to pilot and they will only give them to those who have ship fighting experience.

Another guard hands out blasters and will give quick lessons to anyone who is unsure on how they work. For all that they were surprised they guards seem to accept the presence of the Voidtreckers and work quickly to get them armed and ready for battle. Choose ships, have a quick practice of weapons and get ready to go!

Onward!

Blue team are already where they need to be, they can begin to explore the station, get the lay of the land and figure out a plan of helping guard this place.

Everyone else is off, purple and red are off to the second wormhole, orange to the shield station that needs help! Board your ships and set off to help!

(OOC: Team posts detailing the next part of each mission will go up on the 15th March)

Preparation

Piccolo isn't the only one leaning against the wall. Though, Creed isn't meditating, he's irritated. Oh, not by this. This is going to be fun. But it appears that Thor has disappeared. That sucks, as his Princess would say.

He can smell everyone in this car too, and that's setting his nerves alight. He doubts they all know he can smell the fear, the anxiety, and the resoluteness in the room. It's one of those things that he doesn't like to broadcast. The only outward sign that he's not completely calm is the slight growth of his fingernails. Looks like he hasn't cut them in a while. His husband would tell him to keep it calm and cool. Now wasn't the time to rip apart anyone.

... Yet.

Yeah, Creed's in the space suit, but he's calm, cool, collected. He just wants to punch someone.

Piccolo could practically feel the anxiousness--no, eagerness--emanating from the beast-man not too far away from him. It was less a ki sense than an instinctual recognition of a predator biding its time. Piccolo had grown up in the wilderness, he knew what a wild cat felt like. Besides, for a while there he had been a predator himself. A demon out for revenge.

But that was the past and he was much calmer now. He was more prone to concern and worry these days than rage and anger. Well, he still got mad at things but it was, as Gohan had put it, "more grumpy than evil" whenever he went off on something.

He slit his eyes open lazily to look at the man who appeared calm and collected but felt like coiled energy waiting to spring. He recognized the beast-man from combat practice in the gym. Knew little other than he was a good fighter. Which was really all Piccolo needed to know anyway.

"Ready, huh?" he asked lowly.

Creed doesn't open his eyes. Doesn't need to to hear the gentle shift of muscles next to him. He has the hat pulled down over his eyes a bit and is taking in everything around them. While he's figured out something in space, he really hopes there's a ground assault. He wants to rip something to pieces.

But he's calm. Calmer than he's been in a while. He's ready, but he's not going to shoot his shot just yet. Need to get there, figure out something, and then go on to rip people apart. That'll be the fun part.

"Yep." He answers. "You?"

"Anything will be better than this train," was the Namekian's reply. He was ready to get out of the confined space. He didn't have a problem with people so much as he was simply used to being on his own and going wherever he wanted. Maybe it meant he was a bit of a hermit but at least he had freedom.

"Can't say I'm happy about going into battle but then again," he shook his head slowly. "Can't say I'm not looking forward to it either."

It was more along the lines that he looked forward to fighting but hated bloodshed and the harm of innocents. He could handle a battlefield but that didn't mean he liked war. In fact, it made him a little angry. It reminded him of too many things.

Creed's chuckle is low and cruel. He knows what the man means about wanting off this fucking train. But, heading into battle? No, that's not the way he wants to do it, because getting into a fight, and there's no one here to pull him back.

"Battle ain't gonna be pretty." Creed rumbles, wishing for a damned cigar. Or at least a toothpick.

He rolls his shoulders and cracks his neck. Then settles against the wall again.

"I've seen enough combat to know that's the truth," Piccolo replied seriously. He'd seen his friends die. He'd died himself. It may have seemed like there was little consequence to it whenever the Dragon Balls could be used to bring everyone back, but it didn't make the sudden loss any easier at the time it happened. It was only after the trouble cleared that they could breath a sigh of relief and take the time to enjoy their luck with wishes.

But it was also exhilarating. The rush of battle kept him on his toes and tested the skills he'd worked to improve again and again. There was a thrill to it as much as a pain.

Creed just wants off the damned train. If that means he's gotta get his hands dirty? Well, won't be the first time. He doesn't like the idea of whatever these jumpsuits are for. That speaks confinement and he really, really, really wants to get out and run.

"Old solders never do know when to step back." Creed mutters, more to himself than his companion. "Thing is, if we were home? My daughter'd be right in the thick of it with us."

Interesting phrase. Piccolo had to admit there was probably some truth to it. A lot actually. He left it alone since he couldn't really argue against it and it felt like they both already knew it was a fact. And it might not have been meant for him to hear in the first place.

"Oh yeah?" Piccolo smiled faintly. He knew how that went, too. Warriors tended to drag their offspring into the same profession. Gohan may have escaped into a life of scholarship but even he always came running when a high-stakes battle arose once more. And Trunks adored fighting--who could blame him having Vegeta as a father--and Goten tended to do whatever Trunks did. Piccolo wouldn't be surprised in the future if little Pan joined in, too. After all, both of her parents were fighters as well as so many of the people around them. "Children often follow in their parents' footsteps. That's not such a bad thing, in most cases."

Vic chuckles. He knows his daughter. He knows that she'd be right here, itching to get off the train. "Yeah, she shouldn't have. Her biological parents were rich socialites." He says, with a shrug. "After they died, I met her when she tried to pick my pocket." Which had set the tone for their relationship to this day.

"Deserves better than following a pair of ol' mercs around." But convince her of that.
