Blue Team Onward!
Initial Guarding
Once the other teams fly off it is quiet once more at the military base. Blue team will be allowed to start patrolling, though there will be some areas such as the main command floor that are off limits. Any medically-inclined Void treckers will be welcome in the med bay and the guards will happily have some volunteers to do outside patrols.
But for the first day or so it is quiet, Hitrinto works as a liaison between the void treckers and the command staff, relaying messages and keeping them informed of the progress of battle.
Attack!
Late on the second day there is a break to the peace, alarms blare and lights flash red. "Enemy ships approach. Enemy ships approach."
Anyone who can get to the hanger quick enough will be given ships and sent off to fight. There aren't many enemy ships, four or five and hopefully they are beaten off easily.
But this becomes a semi regular occurrence. At least twice a day there are attacks. Patrols are stepped up, extra people are put on standby to man ships as quickly as possible.
Sabotage
Perhaps the attacks are a distraction. Because it is clear that something isn't right. Power goes down in one section or other. Equipment is messed with. Emergency doors are tampered with or left open. There aren't many people on this base but sometimes they will get the feeling of being watched. Of not being alone.
It soon becomes clear there are enemies inside the station and they are clearly biding their time. It is not known for what purpose. But finding them is probably a priority.

The moment Romeo throws up the barrier, Joss knows it's too late. Something flashes towards them. Towards Romeo.
"No!" he shouts, shoving his best friend aside, for once not watching his strength. Romeo will probably have bruises, but at least he'll be safe.
The moment he does so, something white hot slams into him, throwing his small body back towards the wall. He's conscious of a brief second of intense, burning a pain, and then--nothing.
For all his centuries of living, death takes Joscelin Fitzthomas with little fanfare. The laster bolt burns its way right through his body, destroying his heart in the process. He's dead before he hits the floor, smoke rising from the hole in his chest, wide-eyed and looking faintly surprised.
Realizing what has just happened, the would-be saboteur dumps the murder weapon in a dark corner and flees into the chaos of the space station.

But even then he is too slow, whatever is coming from them gets through, shattering his shield before it has fully formed. "No!" He yells at the same time as Joss rushes at him, he slams into a wall and for a moment the world is a mess of pain and confusion, a flash of light.
He scrambles to his feet, ready to fight whatever has attacked. But Joss isn't on his feet. Joss is on the floor and the enemy is nowhere to be seen.
"JOSS!" His scream is piercing, terrified and agrieved. He scrambles over to his friend. "Joss, Joss are you..."
All of him is trembling. There isn't much light but even in the faint emergency lightning he can see. Joss. His best friend. A hole in his chest, smoke rising.
"No. No. No!" Rage twists Romeo's face. "No. Joss. Wake up! You got to wake up!" He couldn't be... He had been with him just seconds before.
"Joss." He fell to his knees next to him. He couldn't be... He had to wake up. He could get a doctor. Someone would be able to help. Someone had to help.
But apart from his own breathing, far too loud there was no one here. Joss was still and far too pale, even for him. Smoke rising from his chest. Tears fell as his face twisted again. "Joss. Please. Just wake up, come on. We got to go and..."
He knows though. Joss isn't waking up. He's dead. That bad enemy killed him. Romeo is going to kill them back. They don't get to kill his best friend.
Joss is dead and it makes him want to scream forever and his legs aren't working and his brain feels like it is going to explode.
He doesn't know what to do, his arms are trembling and he feels sick. He doesn't want to leave Joss. He shouldn't leave his best friend. But he has to go and kill the bad person. They killed Joss so he should kill them back. Right? That was how it was meant to work.
A sob left his mouth. Joss is dead. Romeo knows lots of dead people. He's dead himself. But not dead like this. Joss is still and cold and gone. Another sob, another and another because once the tears came they wouldn't stop. They would never stop.
He shook his head, because this couldn't be real. Joss wasn't dead. He couldn't be. This was a bad dream again. Another bad dream where bad things happened. Not real life. Joss wasn't dead.
But he was. He had pushed Romeo out of the way and got killed. Stupid Joss. Always doing brave things. Then he felt bad about calling him stupid. Because Joss was the bravest person in all the worlds and Romeo would never be able to speak to him again, or convince him to dance or hear him sing. Never see him smile or laugh or get angry.
"I'll kill them for you Joss." Joss would approve of that he thought. Joss liked killing things. Even though it was bad. It was bad. Really bad. But they had started it. They had killed Joss.
Unknown to Romeo blight was rapidly spreading up his back, across his neck and down his arms as he made up his mind. "Okay. It will be okay Joss. You just wait here. I'll kill them and come back. I promise." He put his fist to his heart. Because this was a solemn vow. Joss shouldn't be alone, even when he was dead.
He didn't want Joss to be alone. He stood on shaking legs and picked up Joss' blaster, not even noticing how his skin rippled. There was a voice, from his wrist. Something about a control carriage. But he barely heard it, he felt dizzy with how much he was crying. There wasn't enough air.
He took a step and vanished.
