Orange Team Onward!

Arrival

Their flight path makes sure they are well out of the way of both the battles taking place and they get to the shield station within an hour as long as they fly quickly.

There are no enemy ships around but it is clear there has been an attack, the shield disk itself is damaged and there seems to be no power in the station.

Once they dock they will be met by some technicians who quickly explain the situation.

Help is needed everywhere. The power needs repaired, the shield needs repaired from the outside, there are injured technicians who need medical care. There is a small med-bay available.

Maintenance

Once the initial crisis is dealt with it is a case of keeping up with things. A patrol is needed to guard the station from other attacks, there are four shield stations in total and so the voidtreckers may chose to split themselves once things are a little calmer.

Keeping up the shields is an almost constant job, especially with the attacks. Once one thing is fixed it seems another thing is down. The maintenance itself is very technical but there are parts that can be done by the unskilled as long as they have direction.

Note to self: he doesn't stick as well through the spacesuit. He's not surprised but a little disappointed. Oh well, he's still good with tech and working quickly on repairing the shields. Most people on the train probably thing of Peter Parker as their resident disaster kid but today he's going to prove to them there is actually a highly functioning brain in his head.

It doesn't taken him long to get used to how the soldiers tell him to do repairs and then he's starting to think-if he adds a little more power here-ramps up the shield here-there seems to be more concentrated power in this specific area.

He's got his notebook out again-a mess of wires and tools strung about as he runs calculations.

"I think we can increase the shield density in this section since this is main part taking fire if we decrease a little on the back side..." He says thoughtfully. "And if I wire this differently-I should be able to get remote control over some of the outers guns. Lasers. Whatever you call it in space."

Curufin does think of Peter as a party animal, though not so much a disaster kid. (Maybe because he doesn't know him well enough.) But he has always believed that Peter is competent.

He, too, is working on repairs, having to rely heavily on the station technicians for information and collaboration, since even though he knows electrical and mechanical engineering, he learned it in another context than space applications. He does understand power generation, however.

He, too, has his notebook as well as his satchel full of his own tools and quite a few borrowed from the stations techies.

"Hmm, I hadn't thought of that -- altering the density of the field in the different shield sections. I guess that would work, so long as it's possible to change it quickly in case the Empire fighters notice that their fire isn't having as much effect as they expected and go around to the other side and start shooting."

He considers the matter of the guns. "Laser guns, I think. I suppose it would be a good idea to have the option of remote control, rather than leaving it completely to the gunners. If their section is hit and they are killed or wounded but the guns themselves are still functional, it might be a good idea to be able to take control from another part of the station."

Offering his logic, though it isn't based on exact knowledge of the station and its procedures.

Peter's thought is more if they can control things remotely then they can pull people out of the line of fire-thus saving a few lives. He bites at his lip and stares at the calculations he's been doing. If they increase shield density it is very possible the enemy will attack on the other side and Peter's not too sure if he could reverse the change. Is there a way he can increase the shield without weakening another part?

"Yeah, I don't really want to give them an easy in." He says calmly, leaning over and scribbling in another calculation. "...I need more wires." He decides, getting up on his feet again.

All important things to consider!

Curufin nods. "Nor would I. I'd be interested in looking at your calculations, if you'd be willing to show them to me. I can't say I'd be able to make suggestions, but I've taught myself enough engineering math so that I think I'd at least be able to decipher your thinking. And as for the wires, there's a stockroom in the Engineering Department. Want me to go and bring out some more wires and cables? Or shall we go together?"

"Are you sure that's a good idea?"

Evahas no idea how she ended up roped into this when Princess is out of juice for Telekinesis for the day, but she's going to help, damnit.

"Decreasing the shields in any area seems like it'd be asking for an attack at the very least, and the last thing we need is them thinking we're with the bad guys."

Please note she's not saying no, only asking if he thinks it's a good idea.
