Orange Team Onward!

Arrival

Their flight path makes sure they are well out of the way of both the battles taking place and they get to the shield station within an hour as long as they fly quickly.

There are no enemy ships around but it is clear there has been an attack, the shield disk itself is damaged and there seems to be no power in the station.

Once they dock they will be met by some technicians who quickly explain the situation.

Help is needed everywhere. The power needs repaired, the shield needs repaired from the outside, there are injured technicians who need medical care. There is a small med-bay available.

Maintenance

Once the initial crisis is dealt with it is a case of keeping up with things. A patrol is needed to guard the station from other attacks, there are four shield stations in total and so the voidtreckers may chose to split themselves once things are a little calmer.

Keeping up the shields is an almost constant job, especially with the attacks. Once one thing is fixed it seems another thing is down. The maintenance itself is very technical but there are parts that can be done by the unskilled as long as they have direction.

Ianto turned around startled by the question, turning to look at Curfn. He didn't really expect anyone to really understand him. He swallowed before smiling. "Yeah, sorry about that," He shrugs a bit. "My sister taught me how to swear. I thought it sounded better than slang," He admitted.

"I'm Ianto Jones. Do you know how to fix this thing?"

Curufin grinned. "You were swearing? No apologies necessary. I curse occasionally, too. What language was that? It sounded an awful lot like Sindarin, one of the dialects of my native Elvish language."

He rose and came over to look at the installation Ianto was working on. "Pleased to met you, Ianto Jones! I'm Curufin Fëanorion. Sorry we never talked on the train. I think I might know how to fix that thing. Wait, let me get my voltmeter out." He dug in his tool kit and pulled out the requisite instrument.

Ianto grinned back, not at all repentant. "It's Welsh... there are tales that talk about Elvish-like beings. I don't think I've heard of Sandirin. Where is it?"

"Nice to meet you. Are you some sort of Mechanic?"

"Welsh, eh? It's a beautiful language, from the sound of it. Yes, I'm of the Elven race. In my world, I lived on two continents. First the land in the Far West, Aman, the home of the Valar, who are powerful guardian spirits. And then I along with most of the Noldor clan sailed to Middle-earth, where we settled in the great western peninsula of Beleriand. Sindarin is the Elvish Common Tongue, the language spoken by the Sindar, the Elves who never journeyed to live in the land of the Valar, as my ancestors did. My clan adopted it and made it our everyday language."

He hadn't missed that comment about Elvish-like beings. "You have stories about Elves, in your world? And by the way, where is your country? And what was your vocation or realm of expertise?"

"I've actually lived in a couple of worlds since I left my own. I've been exposed to modern science and engineering, and I taught myself as much as I had time for. In my own world, I was a metalsmith, a carpenter, a stone mason, and a bit of an architect. So I was already grounded in a number of skills. It was certainly interesting to addd to them! But what is your specialty, Ianto?"
