The Mountain Top: Grasshopper 25

After the strangeness of their second day on the island for some, with memories and conversations in a cave, the third day goes calmly.

At least until mid afternoon. As the day winds on into evening all of those who have been sharing memories with others will feel a pull.

A pull to climb the mountain in the north. It is a good feeling, that mountain is where you need to be. A sense of belonging, friendship, camaraderie. You don't need to be alone, just climb the mountain.

For those that climb they will find worn wooden benches spaced around the lip of the caldera in concentric circles, the centre set up like an amphitheatre. The Jema syrup spills from crevices around the edges, running down from the peak in well-worn grooves and channels.

The sun sets slowly on Jema’grethy, slowly sinking into the ocean over a period of a couple of hours. During that time pairs of Voidtreckers will feel drawn towards the syrup, to touch the surface.

When they do they will receive a memory and find themselves back in that cave once more. For those watching it is as if they are in a trance, lasting a few moments.

People feel moved at different times and so there are always people aware, sat around the mountain top. It might be that there are other friends they wish to speak to about what they see. It might be that they wish to sit silently and avoid everything, if only their friends will allow it.

But it is a place to be together nonetheless.

A look at the kid's face-- and she paused.

And then snorted.

"I had help," she warned, at those starry eyes. Before she could get some kind of idea. Probably too late. "Six of us, and even Serah, in the end. Going up against a god alone's no good."

A surge of something like homesickness hit, and she blinked it out of her eyes and cleared it from her throat. "They're probably... still there, on Pulse, right now."

Even six people. Even six hundred people. They had still beaten two gods.

"You do be missing them? Your sister?" She asks, though the words want to stick in her throat. This is stupid. It's more than stupid. She hates it. She never asked for these feelings.

"Yeah, I do." But the kid's words sound as choked as Light feels, and she barely stops herself looking her over more carefully. Was that it?

Family, huh..? She sighs, and watches her through half-lidded eyes.

"Think I'd do almost anything if it meant I could see 'em again."

"Yes." She scowled and looked back out to sea, "You did be killing two gods for her, so you must be being a good sister."

Unlike her. She was a terrible sister. But a good shadow god servant. Lightning was a good sister but a terrible servant of gods. That was the difference between them.

"That's one way of looking at it," she said, acerbic. "What the gods wanted... that didn't matter. What mattered was what we wanted. What she wanted."

She glanced down again. "What is it you want?"

She pulled a face at that, "What the gods do be wanting do be mattering."

Of course they mattered. Serving the gods was her goal, if it didn't even matter then it would be stupid. And she didn't do stupid things.

She shrugged, she doesn't know what she wants. To serve her god, to be a warrior. But those were all in a far off world and right here, right now... She had no idea.

She just wants things to not be stupid. She wants her feelings to stop.
