Let it Snow: Blue Start

The moment the doors open for purple to jump the train is speaking again. “Blue team to doors. Void shift imminent. Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one” The train lurches and shudders as the windows flash the colour of the void for a split second before it shakes again and they are back in that frozen tundra.

The doors open and blue can jump down into a large snowdrift. They are at the foot of an impressive mountain range. Snow swirls around them, the wind hows. Ahead of them, half obscured by snow is a tunnel entrance.

Even getting there is exhausting, wading through the snow. Inside there is no snow but it is cold. The walls and floor shine with ice and the way is treacherous. It is pitch black.

Their task is to find those hiding in the tunnels. Some have formed makeshift camps in large caverns, others have fled into the small tunnels and have gotten themselves lost.

The voidtreckers are lucky to at least have a map on their SCA though it does not show where anybody else it. It is time to start the task of rounding everyone up and making sure they can survive the storm.

If it made Ignis feel any better, he had the same effect on Tony. He was just too polite to do it. Love or hate it, Tony did what he wanted. And what he wanted, was Ignis.

The missions gave his life here a purpose. They were difficult and they were keeping him from being on the train with those he now viewed similar to family, but they were necessary. Though he didn't speak of it to most people, he needed the sense of atonement they were giving him as well. The harder he worked and suffered on the missions the better. The worst part was not being able to touch base with the other teams and with his boyfriend. However, there was a plus side to it too. No contact with the others meant his focus could remain solely on what he was doing. It had been hard watching Ignis walk away over and over again last mission knowing he was going somewhere dangerous each time.

And that was just like now.

He smirked at the formality, especially given how informal PDA was. "The handsome devil in front of me, of course." His humor faded as his expression became more serious. "You be careful out there. Promise me you'll come back." He didn't care if Ignis couldn't guarantee that. He needed to hear it anyway.

"I have to come back. I've been threatened with bodily harm should I fail." He also couldn't tell Tony that ever since he'd been made the team leader, he was always trying to prove that faith and nomination had been taken very seriously to be sure he was worthy of it.

The blondish head cocked to the side thoughtfully. "Don't tell me you're worried about me." Ignis shook his head because he was worried too. He just didn't want to burden his lover any further than he already was with worry.

He didn't know what the difference was between knowing Ignis would come back and hearing him say it, but there was one and it was big. He wished he could go with the younger man to keep him safe, but that wasn't how this worked. The other man wouldn't want to be shielded so much anyway, so it was for the best. At least that's what he was telling himself.

The tease drew him from his dark thoughts and he smiled. "Never! Why would I go and do a silly thing like that? I'm just concerned about that ass of yours."

"You mean you're worried about having to save it again." There was a smirk on the advisor's face as he replied, but he knew better.

"You need to come back safe as well darling." Ignis said, with his brows furrowing together. He really wasn't sure which team got the worse jobs, red or blue. It didn't really matter, he'd worry a little less if he could be with Tony on his team, or have the respective teams working together.

"Well, yeah, obviously," Tony went along with the joke, but it wasn't true. He had more faith in Ignis than that. He knew the man was capable and strong.

He nodded, accepting the 'order' such as it was. "I promise I will." He drew his boyfriend back into a tight hug before stepping back. "Do I need to tell Madoka to keep you out of trouble?"

"I have a very good reason to return. So I most certainly will." In the back of his mind Ignis wondered if he'd have to explain anything to the Blue team about he and Tony but he really hoped not.

The advisor smiled carefully. "Madoka isn't old enough to be in charge of me I'm afraid."

The blue team was full of smart kids. What was going on was obvious enough, wasn't it? Tony sure didn't bother to hide it and hadn't completely noticed that Ignis was. He might have questions at that point. Right now, he wasn't thinking of anything but the man in front of him and hoping he'd return to him safely.

"You might be surprised," Tony tossed back lightly. It was amazing what young people were capable of. Sometimes that was a bad thing, but he bet this one would be a good one. "Don't resist help if it's offered. You need to take care of yourself too. That's part of being a good leader is showing them balance." Like he ever followed that advice.

Ignis snorted lightly at the advice, knowing full well Tony didn't do such a thing. "I'll remind you that you gave e that advice."

He knew it was good advice in and of itself. He just knew this was a 'here take my advice because I'm not using it's type thing.

This mission was going to be long slow and painful. Cold too, so to that end, the advisor removed his long green scarf and put it around Tony's neck. He smiled and gave a satisfied nod. "It looks better on you darling."

He was definitely reminded of when he handed over his necklace which he knew Tony barely ever took off.

"What advice?" He joked, becoming more aware of how hypocritical the warning had been. "It's still good advice even if I don't do it very well either!" At least he admitted it?

The scarf being draped around his neck surprised him and yet it warmed him more than physically. He pulled Ignis back in for another kiss. "I'll return to you, Tiger. I promise." He looked back toward his team and sighed. "I have to go. Be careful."
faithfulsupport: (Are you sure?)

[personal profile] faithfulsupport 2020-01-25 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
"I see. So it's the usual case of do what you say and not as you do." the advisor smirked.

He was surprised at the kiss but couldn't help but to stare as his lover walked away after making his promise to return.

There were so many things that he wanted to say but nothing actually came out. When Tony moved out of sight, Ignis sighed and turned away to head back to his own team.
