Deep Dweller: Start

After the dreams some of the voidtreckers report on day Four of Grasshopper those that have been on the train for a little while will be expecting what comes the next day. Their SCA's glow with the colour of the void and a holographic image will appear.

Preparations and Arrival

As promised the dressing carriage is opened for optional extras. There are flight suits, similar to those they wore into space but without the helmets. There are instead hard hats and some basic climbing gear as well as bags to put supplies in. There are even a few red tents if any of those planning on tackling red's mission want to grab one, they hold six people in two inner compartments and are relatively easy to put up and take down.

They have a few hours of preparation before the announcement comes. Soon approaching system #789327772. Planet Terra. Drop order: Orange, Red, Blue, Purple. Orange to doors. Leaving the void in ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one. A sharp jerk, a judder and the view from the window changes from the void to dark cloudy skies and very red sand.

They land smoothly, and indeed it seems they have landed on train tracks. A few moments later they pull up outside a huge metal and glass building.

Orange Team

Arrival

Jumping down from the train they will find themselves outside large metal gates. Noticable is the spotlights that shine even in the day time, reflecting oddly off the red sand. It is hot and dry outside, a slight breeze sending red dust rolling around their feet.

The gates aren't locked. There is no lock though they will notice devices that are probably security cameras. The doors are glass and inside is light and airy. They enter into a large lobby, a large circular desk in the centre and a glass walled waiting room to the side.

It is empty. No people at all. All the lights are on. Time to explore.

Exploration

Going up two floors and down five the lab is large and full of all manner of interesting things. Scientific equipment, monitoring stations measuring chemical levels in the air, temperature, water levels. Where to even start is a good question. The lights remain on, which might be annoying at night.

Red Team

Arrivals

Red team to doors. The train continues travelling along the train tracks, looking out the windows they will see endless rolling red sand. Factories rising up from the ground, dotted across the landscape. As the train gets close the air outside seems hazier, through the fumes. They may even see in the distance, strange silver floating orbs.

Eventually it pulls up at a station. Just a raised block really, but easy enough for red team to disembark.

The land stretches out around them. Train tracks criss cross the surface but apart from that there don't seem to be any boundaries. No fences, roads or sign posts.

It won't take them long to find the first orbs, strange silvery spheres and seem almost liquid, until they are not.

Night Time

It grows dark quickly after sunset here, which might take them by surprise. Taking them more by surprise however may be the scraping, scuttling noises in the dark. Skittering close. There is no light out here on the surface, they are far away from the research facility that Orange found themselves in.

If anyone manages to catch a glimpse they will see grey, long limmbed creatures. They shy away from light but anyone in the dark is likely to be attacked. They fight with claws and teeth.

When the sun rises they are gone.

Blue Team

Arrival

Blue team to doors. The train continues across the landscape, passing more orbs, just floating there silently. It stops at the entrance of a cave.

The cave slopes downwards into darkness and soon turns into small tunnels. They don't need to go far when they meet the first ground of Gry. A group of young Gry, practising with spears in an wider section of cave.

Despite being very surprised at the sudden visitors no weapons are pointed at the voidtreckers, instead they are met with curiosity. They are soon led further into the tunnels and soon come to the living areas.

The Gry lead simple lives but they are all pretty fascinated to see their visitors and will allow them to look around their home and answer any questions they have.

Night Time

Most of the Gry sleep in a large communal sleeping area and the Voidtreckers are welcome to join them, though the Gry won't be insulted if they choose to seek out a more private area.

If the Voidtreckers awake in fear in the night, after strange dreams they will find they are not alone. Many of the Gry have awoken too and will reassure the Voidtreckers, tell them it is an honour to communicate with The Burrower.

Purple

Arrival

Purple team to doors. The train continues on the tracks and soon enters a tunnel itself. It's a bit of a bumpy trip, this train was clearly not made for warren systems but after some uneasy twists and turns they pull to a stop.

They are at a train station, not that it's easy to see because it is pitch black. But it is clear there are people around, some looking very confused at the very odd train.

Once the last of those going on the mission leave the train it speeds off into the darkness.

The Terran's are large and tower over most of the voidtreckers but they are friendly enough, if a little confused, once it is explained that they are here to help. They will be led over towards the collapsed section of city.

There is a lot of activity. People digging at rubble, others using their sheer size and strength to hold up beams. There is an array of rescue equipment and a group of official-looking Terran's holding large devices that are comparable to a tablet-computer and discussing solutions.

There is plenty to do to help, smaller rubble to clear, injured people to tend to. Worried Terran's to calm and reassure. Those brave enough can volunteer to use their smaller size to help get supplies through to those trapped and those with any scientific know how, great strength or magic can put their skills to good use.

Rest Time

Throughout the day people are rescued and other parts of the tunnels stabilised. There is more work to be done but the Terran's seem to be working in shifts and they will encourage their surprise allies to rest as well. They will offer to host them.

They live in large groups and will happily invite the voidtreckers into their homes. They will be curious about the voidtreckers but will also answer questions. Telling them about the strange storm and the collapse of the tunnels. They are urged to sleep early and the next day it will be back to work.

"Yeah, that's what I'm hoping." Still, she remembers what Creed had said before about being careful. Not to mention having to figure out if she'll even be able to phase through in this world, or if she had to worry about things being too dense.

"Yeah, I know a few people who are Purple too, so that really helps. What about you?" She eyes the colors that he's wearing. "Are you not working with Purple team?"

At the Train Station:
Danny had learned his lesson from the last few missions, and this time he transforms into his ghost form before getting off the train. And it was lucky that he did. Because the station was dark, making his dim glow all the more obvious. He quickly gathers some energy into his hand and raises it enough to cast a greenish light around the area.

"Anyone else have a light?"

Helping Out:
Danny quickly gets to work. He didn't have a lot of experience at this kind of work, but he did have some powers that were useful. He starts out shifting rubble, but quickly volunteers to carry supplies to the people who were trapped. Intangibility was useful that way. Along the way he often stops to use his ghost ice to reinforce damaged rubble. It wouldn't last forever, but maybe it would last long enough.

Prep.

Creed is so glad to get the hell off the train. He looks at all the equipment. He's going to need some of it, and hopes that can take the strain of his strength on it. He's in the flight suit, and got a hardhat on. He's left his cowboy hat behind on his bunk. It damned well better be there when he gets back.

He hefts a bag to his shoulder, and just settles in to wait. Better to get off the damned train than be stuck here.

Arrival

Creed jumps out of the train, drops his bag and immediately slides under a beam where one of the natives is buckling. He catches it, and pushes it up. The native nods, panting in relief. Creed nods back, and just holds his position. He whistles after a moment, to one of the Voidtreckers.

"There's someone calling over here." He says, jerking his head in the correct direction. "Three someones if my ears ain't lying."

Rest

Creed drops against a wall and the native he'd helped comes over to bring him food and water. They sit together in companionable silence for a little while. Then the native leaves him be to go back to work, having taken a long break already. He leans his head back and closes his eyes. He's tired, but he can get up and work some more, just give him a minute.

Indeed he's in a purple hoodie, but admits, "I'm going to head with Red. Some people I know are heading that way, and I've got a weapon. So I'm hoping I'll be more useful there."

Or he could be utterly useless in whatever manner they're meant to be investigating the apparent orbs that have appeared above ground. ...but Red team usually meant offence, so here's the hoping?

"But do you know Inigo?" Tidus asks however. "He's a friend of mine, he's going with Purple. If you need anything, you can ask him, tell I told him to be useful," he adds with a quick grin. "Plus, maybe you can keep an eye on him too. He doesn't know what a break is, know what I mean?"

Prep: Having heard what was expected of each team, Trowa had opted to join the blue team instead of purple for this mission. He had opted out of the fight suits, but did grab a bag to keep supplies in. Amira was secure in the greenhouse, and he'd left food and water for her to have while he was gone.

Arrival: The caves were dark, so Trowa turned on the lamp function in his SCA to show the way. He didn't want to trip on any rocks. While they'd been told these caves are closer to the surface, there was still no light coming through the ceiling to see by. He saw the Gry that were training and admired their spears. "Hello."

Arrival
Conan had received very clear instructions from Ran. He was to stay on the train and stay out of trouble.

Which is why the moment she was distracted by the disembarking process, he was jumping off into the train station. The darkness helped him there. It made it much easier to join the group without anyone noticing.

At least not until the train left, and it was too late to try and make him stay on it.

Helping Out:
It took one glance for Conan to decide that he wasn't going to be of any use in moving rubble. But other things he could help with. He sticks close to Ran for the most part, but stops often to help the injured (his extensive knowledge of first aid helped there) or to offer to carry supplies through small spaces.

Daia doesn't seem to be too far behind Curufin in preparing - the clothing a... little less appealing than desired. But it's just a mission. This will be fine. But he's looking his hard hat over in his hands. He knows it's a hat. But it's so solid. It's unfamiliar to him.

He gathers up as much supplies as he can stand to carry (which... isn't a lot for this tiny vampire; especially with actual tools). He decks out in as much as he can stand. Better to be safe, right?

With Curufin's laugh, he returns a bright smile.

"Yeah, let's do our best!" He wasn't sure how to feel about this mission at first, but Curufin's enthusiasm inspires his own.

She nods a little in understanding. She knows some people moved around to different teams, trying to see where they could be the most use. "Good luck."

His question has her nodding. "Actually, I do know Inigo. I'll keep a lookout for him."

She's been a little worried about him as well, after the last time they'd talked.

Danny's first move upon arriving in the darkness had been to gather up energy his hands, casting a greenish light on the area. He waves slightly at Glorfindel.

"You know if anyone else here has a light?"

It doesn't take Danny long to volunteer for supply carrying duty.

And so it is that he runs into Kitty while walking out of a pile of rubble carrying a crate almost larger than he was over his head. (It wasn't nearly as impressive as it looked. He had just transferred his own weightlessness to the box.)

"Thanks," he says, smiling at her appreciatively. Hopefully things will go well for Purple team and he won't need to worry about much else than the general chaos that comes from evacuating and helping people out of rubble.

"I'll come over if anything comes up. But there should be enough of you to deal with whatever happens."

She catches Danny just as she's about to head back through to grab more supplies. There isn't time to stop, but as he passes through her she isn't sure if that was thanks to his power or hers.

"Whoa...! Sorry about that."

"Yeah, we should be able to handle it," she says. Hopefully they would be able to stick with assisting with the collapsed area, and there wouldn't be any problems along the way.

While Kitty isn't able to move any of the injured by herself, she's able to phase other people through if they want to help. Currently she's with one of the Terrans who was asked to carry any injured parties back.

Seeing Glorfindel, she waved him over. "We're trying to figure out of there's anyone hurt close by," she said.

Kitty follows behind him a little, pressing the flashlight feature on her SCA to help look around. "What kind of information?" she asks.

[ The sound of Della's voice draws her over, and after a quick assessment she smiles, glad that it's a relatively easy fix. Grabbing the part of the metal leg she can see, she phases it through the rubble to pull it out. ]

Here you go.

"Ai Haibara. I just arrived." She says that like it explains something. Like why she had been dubious about visiting other worlds, perhaps.

"Have you been here long? How many worlds have you visited?" She looks around. "Were they a lot different than this?"

Closing the bag she was using to store supplies, Kitty glanced up at him with a small grin. "Maybe if we were wearing the entire rainbow," she said with a grin. "Or pastel colors."

1. Preparations

[ Elfnein is busy double checking everything in the dressing carriage, while she has one of the flight suits on her normal lab coat is over it. She's trying to make sure all of the items in the bag she's taking will be needed, and it's resulting in over packing and not being able to carry it. ]

2. Orange team - Arrival

[ The bright lights outside are enough to cause Elfnein to cover her eyes for a bit while she attempts to walk inside the building. It's odd that the building would even have such lighting given how no one is there, it's a waste of energy and resources. ]

This system must be on some automatic control, if no one's here that's the only way it would be make sense.

[ She took a notebook out and took some notes on the entrance down before seeing if anyone wanted to join her in the exploration of the building. ]

3a. Exploration floor 2 room 1

[ The green gems that were in the center of the room caught Elfnein's attention. It was much like the bright lights that were outside only it was shining through the gems instead. ]

Wonder if there's a switch that can be turned off.

3b. Exploration floor 2 room 2

[ None of the equipment in the room were worth noting, it was all standard lab gear. If anyone had used them before there really wasn't much of a trace of it. ]

That's ?

[ Elfnein saw the sliver orb that was in the center, just floating in midair without any issues. ]

[ Arrival ]

Despite her size - or, more likely, because of it - Haibara stands out among the people going with the Orange Team. She's got on a blue hoodie, for one, but more notable is the fact that she is a little girl of about seven years old.

She doesn't seem all too bothered by the red dust or the alien planet, though she is obviously making note of it. "I guess we really are somewhere else, aren't we?" she asks nobody in particular.

Kudo had said as much, and she trusted him, but for something so outlandish.... well. Nothing to do now but accept it and move on.

[ Investigation Stage One ]

After a little poking around to try and find something worth investigating, Haibara's first real stop is the first floor going up from the ground floor. The small offices are calling to her.

Or their computers are.

It's not very long before she's pulling up the data on the computers. One of them has large swaths of geological data about sand and earth composition. The other office she checks out has coordinates and map data on the orbs that the Red Team is investigating.

She can be found within these two offices, accessing the data, looking for something to save it on, and failing that, copying down everything by hand into the journal that she had arrived with.

And then...

[ Investigation, but Later ]

...She can be found in the office with the geological data, disassembling the computer there.

It looks nothing like any computer she's worked with, or likely anybody else from the train. The main feature inside is a large glass cylinder filled with some sort of gel, with three cubes suspended inside of it.

After she's taken apart the computer completely, she can be found just... shoving that cylinder into her bag. Whoops.

Feel free to interrupt her during any part of this.

[ OOC note: Haibara is being accompanied by a teenage girl named Masumi Sera, who might jump into action threads as appropriate. ]

"I'll take anything and everything!" Della replies, still upbeat. "Monsters, mysteries, mayhem, mighty-man-eating-minotaurs..."

Daia sees... A rather large spider. Waving at him? And then crawls back off. Did she want someone to follow her?

Assuming that's the case, Daia does indeed follow.

And stares with wide eyes as she cuts open a door, frozen for a moment. He was not expecting anything like that from a spider. But then again, he should be used to the anomalies he's met here.

He shakes it off and continues to follow, curiously peeking as she pokes and prods.

"Uhm..." He hesitates. This is a bug; can she understand him? He'll give it a try. "Is there something I can help with? You wanted me to follow you, right?"

[Katsuya rubs at his face a bit, but hurriedly sits up more to explain the ponyta before anything goes weird.] Ah- 's alrigh'!

She's jus' helpin' y' calm down, don' worry! Uh...

[Sheepishly, he rubs the back of his head.] She uh...normally jus' does that f'r me back home 'n such...

[Right, well beyond that.] Oi, you alrigh' though?

Prep

Misa heads to the dressing car. She's put her hair up in a complicated looking, but simple to do braid. She wants to help anywhere she can. But, she's also nervous. She still is affected by the nightmares she'd given herself. But she silently packs some basic medic supplies into her bag, as well as a few ropes and her vibroknives. Taking a deep breath, she prepares.

Arrival

Orange team leaves and Misa hesitates. Something tells her not to go. So, she doesn't. She steps back and she waits. When Blue team goes to leave, however, Misa jumps out with them, and heads into the cavern with them. She doesn't like it. There's something here. But this is where she's supposed to be. She looks around and heads deeper into the cavern, where she can feel beings ahead of them.

Apparently at least one would notice. Of course he knows that Lightning is one of the ones that first assisted with recovery. And so perhaps he shouldn't be surprised that she is making sure he goes along with her. Is this a way to keep an eye on him? But he doesn't think about it too much as he exits the train after her.

He was useful during the last mission and perhaps she is recognizing that fact beyond just wanting to make sure he can handle himself after his ordeal.

"I've made no plans. Even now I prefer to do things as the will strikes me." Not that his will is particularly strong right now.
