Day 5 Domino: Let it Snow: Preperations

Early Evening

Due to some of the passengers having strange dreams those on the Voidtrecker Express should be expecting something soon and so it is around dinner time on the evening of the fifth day of Domino that everyone's SCA glows with the colour of the void, a holographic message appears with their next mission.

Those going to the dressing car will find the drawers and wardrobes open. Inside are a variety of warm weather clothes, all in team colours. Thick padded winter jackets, waterproof trousers. Hats, gloves, scarves. Thick boots and also a variety of ice skates. There are waterproof covers for a variety of sizes of bags and even some coils of rope.

It seems they are not arriving until the next morning and so they have time to plan as best they can.

Morning: Day Six

No matter if they stayed up late preparing or went to bed early to get some rest before the mission they will wake up the next morning to the morning announcement. "Good morning passengers. Today is day six of the month of Domino. A moment later the voice speaks again. "Our next stop is world#58291. Drop order: Purple, Blue, Red, Orange. Conditions are adverse and so all passengers must be ready to alite swiftly."

There is time for some final preparation.

He's used to it -- Steve's presence does the exact same thing.

"If you chilly want to hurt me," he replies, with an entirely straight face.

He's too cheerful and happy and seems to radiate good cheer which does a real number on anyone's edgy street cred. Peter gives a grin at that pun and nods in approval. "I mean, that one was really reaching but since it was probably like your first attempt I'll just Let it Go" He nods sagely.

Bucky stares straight ahead. "But what if I can't hold it back anymore?" he asks.

There was exactly one thing, one, that Bucky kept up with in the modern world, and that was Disney.

That's good, because Peter was gonna be really disappointed if he didn't get the Frozen reference. Instead, he just smiles and nods to encourage more terrible puns.

"It's okay as long as the fears that once controlled you, can't get to you at all."
luckybucky: (Sorry)

"It's time to see what we can do," Bucky agrees, and as much as he doesn't want to be jumping out of a goddamn train today, he's ready to do it. He just hopes the drop, this time, is much shorter.

"Yeah, gotta test the limits and break through." He nods in all seriousness. Why does he know this song so well? Well, why wouldn't he? The movie came out in 2013 and he was Eleven. Right at the age group that obsessed over that movie.

"For real though, I'm so glad you get my lame Disney Jokes-I love to quote the movies where applicable."

He flashes Peter a grin. "I love Disney movies," he agrees quietly. "It's the one thing I allowed myself for fun, while I was trying to track down all my memories, and the people who'd hurt me." It was something safe and pure, and even nostalgic. "I remember scraping together change to go see Snow White with Steve. It was one of the first memories I got back."

It didn't really strike Peter until just now, this very second that Captain America had been there when Disney first started up. That's interesting, was Cap also a big fan of Disney?

"Yeah? Disney's come a long way since then-I'm still really excited about Star Wars Episode IX. I mean-The Last Jedi was okay, I guess but they didn't have the same director and it kinda changed the tone a bit?"

"I didn't know Star Wars was Disney," he replies. "I've only seen posters for the first one," which was actually the seventh, but he doesn't know that. "I haven't really seen anything but the princess movies," because he liked the old style of animation. It reminded him of before, and that was something he'd needed. "Do they have any of the movies on the train?"
hashtagparkerluck: (y-yeah well...)

[personal profile] hashtagparkerluck 2020-02-03 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh! Yeah, I mean... it was recent-like 2015 I think, when Disney bought out Lucas Films-which is how he even got the last two films-which The Force Awakens was awesome-I would die for Rey. I will die if she shows up at the next platform." He states matter of factly.

"And no, I've looked and even put in a request for movies but so far, no luck." He sighs as though this were a great tragedy. "Mr Stark has Little Mermaid on his laptop though."
luckybucky: (That was super cute)

[personal profile] luckybucky 2020-02-03 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
For a brief second he looks extremely alarmed, then shakes his head hard. "You know, some people might take you seriously when you talk like that," he points out.

He does perk up considerably when Peter mentions The Little Mermaid. "Yeah? You think he would lend it to you for a couple hours so we could watch it?" He's not dumb enough to think Tony would do it if he knew Bucky was involved.

Peter shrugs it off because he's pretty sure he told Gwen just the other day he was gonna go eject himself out into the void. It's just kinda how his generation is-make jokes out of dying and what not since life is inherently pointless and they're all gonna die because of global warming anyway.

"I don't know, he doesn't really trust me much with his stuff. See, this one time I accidentally created a super villain when I was trying to up grade something and ended up setting the lab on fire-I mean it wasn't technically my fault because this really mad dude that Mr Stark fired came in for revenge and got blown up by his own crazy invention-except that like he didn't die and molecules got all redistributed so he took over the tech thing I was upgrading and attacked me and Mr Stark but uh.. long story short, I'm not allowed in his lab unsupervised anymore."

Bucky's shoulders droop a little, and he sighs quietly, but he's more concerned about the explanation of why. His brow furrows as he looks over at Peter, like the kid's existence has somehow offended him. "Christ, not another one," he shakes his head, looking away again. "If you manage to get access, then let me know and I'll watch it with you. And don't make any more Ultrons. One was enough." Even though he'd kept very clear of that little incident.

Peter's eyes go wide at that look. Did he say something offensive? He didn't think so? He's been careful about minding his manners with all adults. Really! His aunt taught him to always be polite and he tries! He just makes a face and shakes his head at that last though.

"What? No. His name wasn't Ultron-he decided to call himself The Swarm-which is a really stupid name but I came up with a really good plan in the end and like got him out of my tracers and then Mr Stark gave him this lecture about uh..." Wait, what was it about? "Something about don't use tools you don't know what they do-wait no-that wasn't that time... uh... don't hire crazy people? I think he said that-Oh! No! It was something like 'sometimes the simplest tech is the best tech' but he's like the King of Extra and I don't think he actually believes that."

Bucky pats Peter on the shoulder lightly. "If you see one of those backpacks with the leash attached... you should bring one with you back to the train," he says dryly. He doesn't even bother trying to respond to the rambling, he doesn't want to trigger another round of it. Hopefully Peter will be able to funnel all that energy at the magical beasts they're about to be fighting.
hashtagparkerluck: (what was my combination?)

[personal profile] hashtagparkerluck 2020-02-10 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
Peter just makes a face because what? A kid leash? "Why? no one needs a leash-at least,I don't think. Did you mean Conan? He's a pretty good kid. I kinda worry about him though because I see him up at night a lot with coffee. Kaito says he makes really strong coffee. Should a seven year old be drinking coffee? I'd say something but I don't wanna be a hypocrite, you know?" He takes another drink of his red bull. He's so glad that he has energy drinks back in his life now. It's like magic spreading through his veins.

"So anyways, ready to smash some ice gollums? I'm pretty sure that with my super strength this gonna be a hella easy fight. Then I'll catch up to the red team and annoy Professor Chill. I mean, dude's going by Professor Chill. I gotta go quip at him-it's very important to me that I get to do that."

Bucky sighs heavily as Peter talks, and gives the younger man a firm pat on the shoulder. "Backpack leash is for you, pal," he replies. The train must have an impeccable sense of timing, because right then the doors open

and Bucky literally jumps out of the goddamn train to escape this conversation. (Or, more likely, so he doesn't have the time to think about how familiar it is to go from a train to an icy landscape with a bit of a fall involved.)
