The days after the celebrations are filled with helping those from system #1015 get settled, or just by resting and recuperating after what was a difficult battle.

A couple of days later however Void Minister Till once again calls all the voidtreckers, scientists and other interested parties to a meeting. She looks a lot less grim this time.

Music plays, voices sing, barriers form, attacks spring from every direction as the voidtreckers make their final stand against the tendrils of the Void.

Voices of defiance rise up. Despite the despair projecting into them, they will not give up, they will not give in and fade from this void. Their words join their attacks as their blasts are concentrated towards the large creature made of void.

The world explodes, colours blinding them for a moment and it feels they are falling, but not down. Not to that endless nothing that lies off the platform, but up, through the void.

They are still connected and they can draw strength from each other as they tumble, through and through before landing with a crash.

Those who are choosing to do the tasks assigned to Orange and Blue team travel on the Voidtrecker Express. They are accompanied by a group of ministry scientists to keep an eye on things, as well as to act static anchors for those trying to reach through time.

"Shortly arriving in system #1015. Leaving the void in ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one."

The train shudders and jerks as it leaves the void, the colours fading to black emptiness. Looking out the windows there is no light, no stars. This isn't space - it is nothing: a void, but not the Void.

Even inside the voidcraft there is a feeling of wrongness. This place is unnerving, almost terrifying; a place that shouldn't be. It might be familiar to some, a space that some voidtreckers reached whilst attempting to go home many months ago. It is here that Orange team must work whilst Blue team attempt to move back in time.

Red Team's ride to their destination goes without incident. Inspection Craft A9310 puts function over comfort. Benches are smooth metal bolted to the wall, walkways are wide and the craft is harshly illuminated. There's a low hum not unlike the Voidtrecker Express' when in motion, but it's smoother, making it hard to tell that they are moving at all. The windows are covered by shutters, which can be opened to show the swirling maelstrom of the void outside- though towards the end of the journey these will be closed due to the voidstorm they must pass through.

Adding to the tension of the journey are the inspectors. They tower over all but the tallest of the voidtreckers in their armour, which they never remove for the duration. They busy themselves with work on tablet devices and are silent unless approached, and even then their answers are abrupt and to the point. They don't make any attempt to stop voidtreckers from talking amongst themselves though.

Most of the craft is open to the voidtreckers, apart from the lower decks, which contain the engine rooms. There are sleeping quarters, which the voidtreckers cannot access, with entry pads much like the ones on the Voidtrecker Express.

Once they come close to their destination, three Inspectors stand simultaneously, with two approaching thick lockers near to the door to the control room, while one stands to address the Voidtreckers.
"We are almost through to the eye of the storm. We aim to avoid detection as we find somewhere to form our base. From this point on all must wear one of our suits as the craft will be opened to the void.

The charges will be stored in this central area for you to collect as you need them. We recommend you work in at least pairs. Do not go through the rift. We have no data on what may happen if you do, but we doubt it will be survivable, even for a void traveller."
The suits are passed out and the inspectors will make sure to check that everyone is secure in them before the doors are opened and the mission begins.

The Voiddream is a sleek voidcraft, more like a spaceship than any other vehicle. Everyone is ushered into one of the rooms, where around the edges are comfortable seats, and in the centre a number of large tables with wooden benches. The crew is rather small, consisting of Anan and her crew, the voidtreckers, and a handful of other Osigan void ministry staff.

The journey goes smoothly enough. The Voiddream moves a little differently than the Voidtrecker Express, but not in a way that makes it hard for the passengers to get used to quickly. But they feel it when they stop, and Anan's voice comes over the speakers.

"We are at the system that Chaos created. We are going to breach the seal now. Brace yourselves -- it might get a little rough.

We don't know what will happen once we are through, but be prepared for anything. Stick together, and remember that most of what you will see is not real."

The craft shakes and twists as Anan and her crew work on undoing the seal that they created, at least enough to allow a craft through. Outside the windows the void fades, and they are met with vivid purple skies, so bright as to be glowing.

THE FINAL MISSION: PREP


On day 5 of the month of Tribulation - the day after the performances - the Voidtrecker Express makes its return to the void base. The void scientists meet them as always, with those visiting for the first time are welcomed and given information, and offered a tour if they wish it.

Everyone will be informed of a meeting to take place in a couple of hours. Voidtreckers are welcome to skip it and to do their own thing, but attending is stressed - it's important, to both them and the rest of the void.

Once everyone has had time to rest, a call will come through the base leading everyone to the largest of the meeting rooms. It's filled with more than just the Voidtreckers: The ministry, its scientists and those from system #3721010010 are present, as well as Osigans. Far more familiar faces take the front of the meeting, with Lia-Nine, Ten-Nank and Anan joining the head scientist Till, who takes a step forward to address everyone.

She thanks everyone for joining, and recaps the situation:

A couple of weeks ago, the Voidtrecker Express and those on it discovered a tear in the void within a void storm. This tear, and the resulting shapes seen within it, are the disaster wiping out systems from existence - including system #78961112094711 (Osiga's system) and system #1015, which is the system of the Voidtrecker Express.

Many of those present will not have heard of system #1015 because of the voidcraft's previous crew attempting to revert time after the shapes destroyed their homes, despite the many taboos surrounding this practice. This resulted in a paradox as they met with themselves, which utterly erased all existence of system #1015, and even outside knowledge, which led to the Voidtrecker Express on its course to capturing unwilling souls to serve upon it. It's believed that Halo - a person from the planet Enrara of system #1015 - escaped the same fate as many outside of their system at the time by being caught in the void storm at the time, saving them.

The attempt to revert time in system #1015 created an anomaly that can't be left alone. While not immediately dire, a plan has been made to address the issue of both the tear in the void, and that of system #1015. It will be dangerous, and everyone is free to give their own thoughts and help solidify the plan before the mission starts.

On day twenty-five of the month of Symphony, everyone is gathered together, at least everyone who follows the request for a meeting to be held.

One of the head scientists - named Till - stands before the group, a look of excitement on their face.
"We have found something, an anomaly in the void. We are not sure what it is exactly, but there is a lot of activity coming from its coordinates. More penitently, initial investigations have picked up readings that are constant with a void storm.

I believe from your own reports you have experienced void storms before, and you know they can be dangerous, but always fleeting, never lasting more than a few days. However, this storm seems to be static. It has not moved or changed since we first detected it.

We understand there may be people who do not want to venture into this storm, and we understand. The loops we have added to your tethers will allow you to stay on the base long enough for those investigating to return. You may experience some discomfort and disorientation during the time your craft is away, but it should only be mild and temporary.

For those investigating, we know little of what you will face. Every storm is different, and this one is already stranger than anything we have come across before."


The scientists stick around to reassure people and help them make their decisions. Those going to investigate are told to report to their craft in the morning.

"Good morning Voidtreckers and passengers of the voidtrecker Express. Today is day twenty two of the month of Symphony. As you are aware we have some guests on board and our next task is to deliver them safely to the void hub. The tethering kits can only keep them tethered to this craft for a short space of time. We will be arriving at the void hub tomorrow."


Until now the scientists have kept themselves to themselves, remaining in their room and rarely exiting out. However after this announcement they emerge more and more, interested in asking about the void hub, the ministry workers and what they might expect from the situaion.

The next morning, just before lunch, the train makes another announcement.

"Approaching Voidbase now. Prepare for docking."

There is no shaking, not leaving the void: instead those who risk looking out of the windows will see a large structure ahead of them. The void turns to metal around them as they enter the structure, and for a moment, there is nothing outside the train but darkness.

"Welcome Voidtreckers." A voice speaks over the ICPs. Not the voice of the train, this is a male voice, sentient. "The filtration process takes a few moments, so please be patient. Meanwhile, I am sending some information about our void base over to your SCA's."

They will receive a small pamphlet on their SCA's explaining about the void base, this is the same pamphlet as last time but will be useful reading for those who are new, or those who didn't pay attention the last month. It explains that the base was set up as a research base and has been expanded to provide living quarters for some of those rescued from system #78961112094711. It explains that they had made the decision to invite the voidtreckers there to further unravel the mystery surrounding them. They would be quartered in ministry sleeping areas, and have free access to the ministry part of the base. Anyone who wished to visit the citizens of system #78961112094711 could do with good reason.

It's not too long before the filtration process is completed, and the doors of the Voidtrecker Express open. This time they are greeted just by the scientists who welcome them back.

The world is a mess, the remnants of humanity will have a lot to do to clean up and rebuild. Perhaps their world will never be the same again and indeed this might not be the last threat their planet faces and there will be much hardship in their future.

But they still stand and they would remain standing. Those monitoring the situation in space report that any ships that weren't destroyed had fled, most badly damaged. The human troops are taking on the final pockets of enemies across the world.

The scientists that were found are grateful to be saved and have agreed to return with the voidtreckers to the Void Base. They distrust the ministry yes, but they have no wish to be stuck on this void inactive world without a craft.

So with a few extra passengers looped into their SCA's the Voidtreckers can begin to leave the world. There is a day for them to continue helping, be that clearing the final enemies or helping start with the clear up in Starybury. One city at a time, this world will slowly recover.

Eventually though, on day fifteen of the month of Symphony, they receive a message on their SCA's.

All Voidtreckers and passengers of the Voidtrecker Express please return to the Voidtrecker Express. We will depart in one hour.

There is a pin point on the map that shows where the train has landed. Enough time to say their goodbyes and make their way over. The scientists have been assigned to Sleeper One, Cabin C, which was otherwise empty.

Once again the Voidtrecker Express leaves another world, up and up until there is a flash and a shake and they are in the Void once more.

The tide of battle has certainly been turned with the voidtreckers' help. Their attempts at finding the spaceships have been successful, and plans to continue the assault from space are being made. Elsewhere, transgates have been set between cities, meaning that the movement of goods and people has gotten easier.

But even so, the fighting has gotten more intense. The enemy were not expecting resistance still this far in, never mind the extra back-up that the planet seems to have had. They've called in for more reinforcements in response, and they've certainly risen the stakes...

After the missive from the ministry, voidtreckers might be expecting a task. On the eighth day of Symphony their SCA's glow with the colours of the void and a message appears. They have a few hours to prepare before they arrive in the system. Now will be the time to plan, with the warning of a catastrophe mission put out. What supplies will they need? Who will go where?

After half an hour, they hear the Voidtrecker Express again.

Shortly arriving in system #3721010010. Exiting voidspace in ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one.

The train shakes as it leaves the void, into a wreck of a world.

On day twenty seven, five days after the Voidtreckers arrived on the Void base they receive a message on their SCA.

Voidtreckers. I have managed to piece together the memories you found for me. The ministry have agreed for me to link to one of their viewing rooms so that I can share my findings with you. This will begin in one hour for any who wish to be present.

A room number is included and when they get there they find it a large auditorium with a sphere in the centre. Ministry workers will help them find the right room though they will respectfully step out before the showing begins.

When the hour is up the doors are closed and the sphere begins to glow. Around them a scene begins to play out.

It's been a couple of weeks since they had evacuated Osiga. In that time, many of voidtreckers were busy with a project to try and solve some of the many mysteries that surround the train they travel on. By the eight day of Rabbit they've exhausted all avenues, and whilst they have learned quite a bit, there are still some clear gaps.

Just as that investigation comes to a natural end, passengers are woken up by an announcement.
"Attention voidtreckers and passengers of the voidtrecker express. We are travelling to system #2554098133741. I have sent word to the ministry who have arranged recuperation packs for you. You have had a difficult mission and you deserve a rest.

But it is not just for rest. Last time we visited the system voidtreckers shared memories. Though it is understood that many of you did not enjoy the experience it is notable that certain voidtreckers saw memories of this voidcraft. They were memories that this craft had not accessed. It led to more pathways opening up in the operation of this craft.

I have done some research on the system and I believe we can trigger the caves of memory. This voidcraft understands this might be difficult for the voidtreckers and passengers of the voidtrecker express and it is hoped that only those of you who consent to this experiment will take part.

Regardless this should be a time for relaxation also and the dressing room is open for your convenience. We will arrive in the morning.

The dressing carriage is indeed opened for those who go and look. It's filled with swimming costumes, beach ware, summery clothes and sun hats. There's even a cupboard of buckets, spades, rock pooling gear and picnic blankets.

There are also team coloured tents for those who want to go and sleep under the stars for a night or two, though the train is remaining on the island for those for who camping is their idea of hell.

Passengers see a vision, an instance of someone's life, before just as suddenly - they find themselves inside a cave. It is light, a strange moss glowing on the walls and ceiling illuminates the cave nicely, and it is large enough for them to pace around in without trouble.

They're not alone. In the cave with them is another voidtrecker; maybe someone they know well, or maybe someone they've only seen in the aisles of the train. But they are together in this cave, and they will come to find out that it was one of their memories that the other witnessed. And them, one of yours.

The cave has no exit, at least not yet. They know that it will, eventually. When the time is right.

But for that time to come, they first must talk...
