So Familiar a Gleam: Conclusion

Time to leave!

There is not much of the city left, but the park is holding together as those anchoring help those who are not voidtreckers through back to where they belong. Monsters continue to attack and a little further out there is a battle of hearts and minds being fought with the mass of colours and chaos.

Eventually, after the bulk of citizens had been evacuated everyone with SCA's on would hear Jin-Roh's voice after a few frantic beeps, as Chiff aligned everyone's SCA's. "We are almost done here, if you are with anyone not tethered to a voidcraft get them to the evacuation point, as quickly as possible."

Anan pulls out of the anchoring point to call out to any defenders in the park. "Come on! Anyone who isn't a voidtrecker! It's time to go."

Luckily those off fighting the entity headed the message and made their way to the park as Jin Roh spoke again.

"Everyone else get ready. When we call it you need to leave. If you don't have your SCA on then get to someone who does."

As the last people rushed to the park Anan calls out again, through her SCA and outloud to the park. "You need to unanchor, before you can evacuate. Everyone be ready."

She goes in again though, because there are some last people, those from the large battle, getting through as another message was called.

"Almost there. Be ready. On my command..."

Anan unanchored again. "Quick everyone unanchor."

"NOW" Jin Roh's voice came through strong on their SCA's. Hopefully those with SCA's would grab those without.

There is some outside help as well, the train pulls anyone who is unconscious or still under the entity's control, forcibly evacuating them. This includes Wei Wuxian, Lan Wangji and Zagreus.

Luggage Carriage

There has been a mass evacuation before and that was crazy enough but since then the population of the train has almost doubled and now it is an extremely tight squeeze as everyone crashes into the luggage carriage at the same time.

The train jerks and rolls as they enter into the void at breakneck speed and again as they seem to slow, rather than speeding off though the void.

There's a crackling from their SCA's. "Voidtreckers? Voidtreckers come in!" Anan's voice. "Please tell me you made it..."

There's only a few moments of signal and soon they are flying though the void again, away from the strange non-world, the entity sealed for now. To new adventures, but first hopefully some time to recover from all that has happened.

There's a crackling from their SCA's. "Voidtreckers? Voidtreckers come in!" Anan's voice. "Please tell me you made it..."

It was times like this that made Eight grateful that she didn't have any bones. She quickly shifts to her octopus form and slowly meanders her way to a clear spot where she could answer the crackling voice coming from her SCA-phone.

"A lot of us are here... its like a tin of sardines at the moment. Should we do a head count? Anybody notice anybody missing?"

Organization, Food and Motivation, Anyone?

For better or worse, Elidibus is back in a vessel that everyone who has met him should be familiar with. Who wouldn't have wanted to be the fly on the wall when he left his temporary host and then offered to evac her as an anchor?

Well. Let's just say that went strangely given the circumstances at the time. More on that later, perhaps. Or not at all.

He isn't finding the cramped conditions great, but it hasn't robbed him of his observational skills. Namely there's a huge crowd of people and many are unconscious or disoriented. Perhaps even wounded.

"Those nearest the entry please begin moving out of the carriage. Make space for those who are unconscious or injured." he begins, speaking in a commanding manner over the gathering. It will be loud enough to be heard.

"If those who can teleport others find the unconscious or injured near them, please use your talents to transfer them to the healer's bay. Let us not dwell overlong in these conditions."

His gaze turns to those nearest him. "When you are able to move, please make room. I'll create a rift to the dining carriage. If you would begin to organize food and drink, I believe many would welcome it. Let us put aside our respective Team duties for a time and work together on this matter. It does not have to be extraordinary. Simple fare will suffice."

The tones he uses both in general address and to those near him is designed to get people to keep moving and not 'freeze'. It is reassuring to hear and has just the right amount of concern to suggest Elidibus speaks with sincerity and what is probably in most everyone's best interests.

Once there is enough room, spellwork is woven and constructed and in almost an instant, a dark, shadowy cloud of black, purples and blues billows into existance. It is perfectly fine, just a little shadowy and there would (should?) be no adverse effect of making use of it. As promised it will lead to a safe corner of the dining carriage.

Once they can start spreading out, start moving, that's nice, the doors opening out into the triage's hallway where the medics and injured can get to work. Tidus has no reason to linger - at least, he knows it's better not to, so he takes a few minutes to head to his room, just some time to decompress. Time that Elidibus's teleport spell can be put in place, with also the luggage car's transgate for another option; options to get people spread out, and to wherever he wants to be.

When he comes back in, he gives Elidibus a nod that's tired, but not as bad as some people.

"Looking like yourself again, huh? Hey, anything we need to be worrying about? Everyone just tired?"

He would've continued with jokes, but more importantly he wants to be sure that everything's alright; figures Elidibus might've seen something in the time he was gone.

Time To Leave

Eight's body is beyond exhausted, and her adrenaline is starting to wane. But the mission still wasn't done. She wasn't going to be satisfied until everyone was safe. "ANCHOR!" She yells, raising her phone up into the air. "ANCHOR! HURRY!!"

Low Key Takoyaki

By the time Eight is able to leave the luggage car, she is too tired to care. She is so tired, in fact, that even maintaining her human form is a bit too much of a bother. After a step or two out, the physical form just gives up and she oozes onto the floor as a debilitated octopus. Her tentacles push her forward weakly with only one destination in mind: her room in lower one A. Heck, she's so out of it, she may not even be bothered if someone were to step on her. Probably. Okay, no, that was still not especially likely. But the girl's exhausted, give her a break!

Please, Eight, everyone is heading in this direction! It's not exactly the best plan to be something very squishy and easily trampled upon when there are so many people moving out of the luggage car and in the direction of - well, anywhere else, really.

But there is an upside to her being in that form. Once someone does notice her, it makes her very, very recognizable. And Inigo does notice her, though he just stares at the octopus trying to crawl forward for a moment or two before he lets out a tired sigh.

And then he speaks up.

"Need a hand?"

Caleb does not want to be here.

He's been forced into a medical car, told that he needs to be monitored to see that he's all right... but he's not happy about it.

After an initial burst of panic where he'd had flashbacks to a much darker, much dirtier cell he'd finally settled down. For a given value of 'settled', since he's spent much of the time pacing the available walking space in his 'cell', counting out loud in Zemnian.

"Eins, zwei, drei, vier, fünf, sechs, sieben, acht. Eins, zwei, drei, vier, fünf, sechs, sieben, acht..."

And on and on he goes.

Needless to say Caleb did not get much sleep over the night, but he'd seemed well enough to be let go.

Given the stress he's been under, however... it doesn't take long for him to pass out.

Sometimes it's leaning against the sink in the kitchen, sometimes it's facefirst in a book in the library, sometimes it's lying down in the greenhouse. Occasionally you might be led to him by a meowing cat, sitting and not shutting up until someone follows him to his wizard.

Eight was exhausted too, between running between safe houses, hunting for the "terrorists," and pushing herself to play defensive and an anchor, the octokid is a bundle of limp tentacles. So it is that during one of those nap attacks that Caleb would find himself the bedrest of an unusually large octopus, nestling quietly against him.

There's a good reason why she was near him, clearly.

When they can all finally move, Ken runs.

It's instinct more than anything else, trying to get away from his feelings. He runs to his room to grab his bag before running to hide in the game room, making sure he sinks low in the beanbags and makes sure there's no clear visibility of him from the doors. He turns Koromaru's card over in his hand, considering.

If only Koromaru were here...

He doesn't mean to slink around, but the mission left him shaky. He slides into the kitchen when it looks like not a lot of people are there and starts prepping some vegetable soup - both for himself and to leave out for people who are too shaky from the mission to make their own food.

It's easy to catch him, since it takes a while.

Once he's done with that he hides away upstairs in the music car, trying to not be seen. He's got headphones in, so it's easier to sneak up on him than usual.

Madoka easily finds herself in the kitchen as well. Having seen the state of most people returning from the mission, she figures that being there and doing some work is the best thing she can do right now. Especially when - after a shower and all - she doesn't look as tired as most people.

So she's actually already in the progress of chopping some things when she hears the door to the carriage open. She glances over to find Ken there, slowly blinking before showing him a small smile. Madoka figures people can use smiles right now.

".. Hi. Did you come to cook too, or did you want to eat something..?"

Please Rest

[After managing to get out of Luggage, Masumi begins dragging herself back to her cabin for the rest she desperately needs after acting as an anchor. Almost literally, since she's leaning heavily against the wall as she slowly makes her way down the hall.

Thankfully she makes it to Sleeper One, but unfortunately trips on her way up the stairs and doesn't have it in her to get back up. In fact, she ends up just passing out on the spot. Feel free to find her blocking the stairs up to the upper cabins in Sleeper One.]

Lack of Energy

[In the days following the mission, Masumi spends most of her time sleeping, too exhausted to do much else. Usually she sleeps in her cabin, but sometimes she ends up sound asleep elsewhere, such as:

-Propped up in a chair in Standard, her cheek leaning against the window.
-Sprawled out in a beanbag chair in the games car.
-In a chair in the cinema car, having fallen asleep in the middle of a movie.
-Passed out in the middle of a simple meal in Dining, her food just sitting there half finished.

If caught and woken up, she'll at least look a bit sheepish, but mostly just exhausted. Anchoring must have taken a lot out of her.]

[Often in tough times the luggage carriage is her hiding place. But right now it is too full so she had scrambled out the moment she could move and hid in the dressing room for a bit, crouched behind one of the cabinets, waiting for the flow of people to lessen.

But now she planned to get to her cabin, curl up in bed and just never leave. Not for a long time. She hates everything and she's tired. Her brain hurts but it's not as bad as the pain in her heart.

When she sees her roommate, blocking the stairs she snarls.] Be moving.

Dining Car - Tired Food Crimes

He's not sure of what happened between the luggage car and his room. Just that he somehow made it from point A to point B. He'd thank whoever did it but he has no idea when he wakes.

He clings to dreams of standing behind a bar, smiling at leather-clad friends with their own versions of the flames. A mix of the Captains from the old days and people he'd met in Jinnjar and is doomed to likely never see again. He dreams of looking over Centaurian forests from a porch, of cupping his hands around a flower and watching it change from one hue to another. He dreams of a sky streaked in colors, pink bubbles interrupting the beauty in a way only he'd find threatening and damnably familiar. And sometimes, sometimes he dreams of floating bodies, watching and waiting for him.

He wakes after one of those, and eventually shambles his way to the kitchen after a half-assed effort to freshen up. He's too tired to do any real cooking, so he just grabs an ice cream cone, fills it with cold chicken curry leftovers because he doesn't want to fucking do a dish, grabs a package of sandwich meat, and sludges his way to the dining car to eat his monstrous snacks.

He's worn out, he's hungry, his head is full of fuck and he can barely think. Questions and other important things will have to wait until later.

Cinema Car - Circle of life

There's a movie about a woman archeologist looking for a mysterious artifact. She's wearing a fedora, a leather jacket, has a whip, a long braid, short shorts, and hiking boots. And something about that seems a little ill-advised but, you know? At this point, what's logic? She's already ran across the backs of a bunch of crocodiles to escape the bad guys.

He doesn't know Terran animals enough to say whether or not that's a viable solution.

She finds the a relic that a cult is also hunting for, but a member of said cult, elaborately robed, sets off the traps around her hoping she'll die so he can steal it. She's immediately caught in a complex situation of sliding stones trying to make an escape.

Yondu's dully watching, blinking slowly with his feet propped up on the seat in front of him, chewing popcorn at the speed a cow chews cud. Once he swallows, he mutters, "Had someone do that to me." And flips off the screen lazily. Peter Quill taught him a few things, as well.

It's at least doing a little bit to take his mind off some important losses. Sometimes shit is temporary. Sometimes it widens that hole in your aching chest. But he can't be sure yet, not until the platform.

FOOD CRIMES FOOD CRIMES

Koumyou's also in the dining car, napping with his head down on the table. Not an unusual sight after any mission, let alone this one.

He does, however, stir when Yondu comes into the area, and blinks very slowly at the man's food choices.

"That looks..."

Luggage Carriage and Return to Cabins (Upper 1E)

On crashing into the luggage car with literally everybody, Freeza does the one instinctual thing he can do ad moves toward the nearest open air -- which is of course toward the ceiling, disentangling with whatever poor souls appeared with him and letting them remain where they lie while he reorients himself. He has never been more thankful to not need to breathe.

Once he realizes what has happened, he sets to getting a few people to their feet that appeared to be struggling with it; the more people up, the less floor space is being taken up and the faster they can all disperse.

Once freed, he returns to the sleepers to wait until the shower is open, if necessary, change, and decompress. He might adjourn to the dining car for a bowl of curry at some point.

Luggage Carriage

Freeza had a good idea, and Trunks on seeing it--follows suit. Floating up to the ceiling of the Luggage car to help provide more down on the floor. A nod in acknowledgement to the other, before Trunks likewise beings to help people up and out of the luggage car.

Enough of this Mess!

Usagi was glad this mission was over. Being attacked by random people, nearly getting arrested, being forced into hiding, helping people trying to escape... yeah, no. She's had enough. Once she disentangles herself from the crowd in the luggage car, she's going to go and disappear into the lab car. Her hand goes for the brooch on her chest, pulling it off and causing her New Sailor Moon form to disappear in a flurry of ribbons.

The entire mission made her feel terrible. She wanted that feeling to go away and, reaching the lab, went immediately to work on her brooch, popping open its back and messing with its insides to adjust it again. Maybe she can find a way to increase mental protections.

Wanderings (Wildcard)

Oh, that earlier feeling hadn't gone away totally and Usagi was feeling listless, so she'll be out and about. You might find her in the kitchen, making a snack; perhaps she's in the game room messing with a video game; she might have wandered back to her room in Lower 2 - B.

Either way, the girl needs something to get her mind off of what happened.

Wanderings

Eight had given herself enough time to rest for cognizance, but her body was yelling at her to continue resting. Her mind, however, had a few things she wanted to do, and Usagi was one of them.

So when Eight found her in the kitchen, she knew she wanted to take this opportunity sooner rather than later. In her mind, she might not get a better chance to address her... misdeeds.

"Hey..." she whispers, hoping that now would be a good time.

Harsh Truths?

Three missions with illusions. Three missions where she had been dragged into dealing with such things. This one was the worst of all, having been subjected to a false world and false life.

That life was what she hated the most. Not that she had one, but they forced her to be in a relationship with someone. That was her decision. If she wanted to be with Kairi, she wanted to ask her out, ask her permission.

Pulling herself out of the mess of bodies, she was going to find the nearest chair and sit in it, pulling her legs up to her chest and bury her face in her knees. She isn't sure how to talk to Kairi after this...

Wildcard

Done feeling sorry for herself, Nozomi's going to wander around, lost in her own little world. She might be in the theater car, losing herself to another marathon; she might be in the spa car's pool, swimming again; she might be in the lab car, curiously poking around.

Either way, she's out there trying to push through.

Has that mission brought up issues that the last world had already forced her to think about? Yes. Is she choosing to deal with that by checking in on people? Also yes.

"That one was a lot." Much like the last world. And the last mission.

The demons are starting to seem simpler and simpler.

He's just returned from hauling another unconscious person across the river, all but drooping when Anan's yelling about unanchoring and getting ready to... what? The device at his wrist has been chattering in another voice, but he has to stare down at it trying to sort through (the burn of colours, the voices beyond counting, the light a short length away and the struggle each time getting heavier to reach across to it and toss his armful of person over that threshold only to find himself across the river again, waiting for more, still in those colours) what, precisely, he's being asked to do.

He's exhausted and unanchored and on the train after that portaling, staggering into a wall with the weight of the others around him. When he shifts, complaining with a sharper word than he should use, he knocks into a trunk, and keeping his strength curbed (harder, when he's tired) means he simply lets himself fall into a seated position, then end up on his back and wedged in a whole different, equally uncomfortable position between the trunk, the wall, and everyone else.

"Oh, come on?" He struggles to get back up, running into the same issue: too many people, too many tired people, and then simply sighs: he's at the far end of the carriage, he's not going anywhere for a while. It takes him a full five minutes before he recalls in a distracted sort of way, I'm on the train.

The train that makes his true form small. His tattered robes need mending anyway, and he glances around, just shy of scowling with his lips pressed together. He could fly overhead, he knows, but then those tattered robes that need mending will be stuck here, and it sounds like too much effort anyway.

Which is why, as the carriage clears, he can instead be found in dragon form, all long-bodied, fox-size worth of him, coiled up in the cramped space between a trunk and the wall. He's resting with a taloned foot across his snout on top of a pile of his own clothing, with only two new tears to show for him having slithered his way free.

He wakes every morning at the moment they're allowed to, stuck on a Lan schedule even when he's exhausted. Mostly it means he drags himself out of bed, stumbles into the hallway, and spends time with his head resting on the corridor wall waiting for the shower to open up. He doesn't attempt too much speaking until after he's out of the shower, which is when he half-heartedly dries his hair, leaves it a mess because combing the mass of it is too hard, and makes his barefoot way toward the kitchens, tail dragging behind him.

His biggest efforts in foodmaking come down to cooking rice, then eating it from a bowl there in the kitchen, the pot soaking in the sink behind him. Having to access both levels of the kitchen is already asking too much, let him live!

He catches Jingyi one morning and sees his hair is a mess. It's strange to see any Lan in any kind of mess but he gives a soft smile as he approaches the other, carefully stepping around his tail.

"Jingyi," he calls softly, "if you have a comb, I can help you comb out your hair."

Luggage Car
Trunks, upon seeing that Freeza had a good idea, follows likewise and floats up to the ceiling of the luggage car to make more room for those crammed on the floor. Fortunately with the evacuation call, he is not still transformed, or that would've been uncomfortable for those mashed by him. Once he's out of the fray, he starts looking for others he can assist to their feet or with their bearings.

Helping out
While their time in Diaged had been exhausting in some ways, Trunks recovered quickly enough. He hadn't been an anchor, but dealing with Chaos directly. While he's not a good cook, General Blade had been teaching him; he can be found bringing food and drink to others to help them recover, and just generally checking on people. Need an errand run or an extra hand, he's there to help support his fellow Voidtreckers.

Freeza was feeling far less sociable immediately following the mission, but Trunks likely found him working the kitchen, getting leftovers heated and doled out while working on additional batches. Head down and generally keeping to himself long enough to expediate several tasks before taking a helping of curry and a drink to sit in the dining car and unwind.

"You looked different, during the battle."

His way of noting that his transformation had changed, since he cannot sense the different levels in other ways.

Raven | Purple | Open and Closed Prompts

Recovery---Closed to Close CR.
Raven had pushed herself, over-done it. Being squished in the luggage car on arrival back on the train had not helped. She strained herself further, to teleport herself to own Sleeper Cabin. Where she promptly collapsed for about an hour.

Upon waking she gathering her blankets and backpack, and heading for a quiet car. She took the time to make notes, addressing, then slipping them into Yondu, Madoka, Danny, and Soldat's rooms ( I'm in a quiet car, doors unlocked. Spread the word if needed.--Raven. along the way.

Once in the quiet car, Raven set up her usual little nest of blankets and a pillow, and curled up in her cloak. Sleeping, she let herself fall into a light healing trance until interrupted.


Around and about--OTA
Raven really wasn't up for being around and about much. Now that the crisis was over, she was paying for pushing herself. And for boxing up the mental torture she'd been through.

Heading to the library to get something to read while she rested, or working on her knitting, she's a bit more jumpy than usual around people. More sensitive to their presence. She checked in briefly in Medical, to make sure she wasn't needed, before heading back out.

Especially since with her jumpiness, her control over her powers wasn't its best. Things occasionally rattled in reaction, or fell off of tables. As soon as she noticed, Raven would take a deep breath, and mutter her mantra slowly to regain control.

Madoka doesn't immediately go looking for Raven. Even if 'doors unlocked' means to imply that she doesn't seem to mind someone coming over, she doesn't exactly want to disturb the other right away when she might need some space to herself and some quiet.

But eventually Madoka realises that maybe Raven could use some other forms of help too. So after a little bit has passed, Madoka gets over to the kitchen to get some tea and the lightest meal she can find, carrying it all along with her over towards the quiet carriage. She knocks on the door of the car Raven is in, just to announce her presence, though she will just come in a moment later.

"Um.. Raven? I got you something to eat and drink.."

1. Let's just call it cozy

Well. This is terrible. He hadn't really thought through the implications of everyone evacuating at once, but evidently being crushed together in the luggage car is the end result of things. Ryo is pushed against the back wall at the very end of the car, unable to move for the people, and that's...fine. That's fine.

As the car empties out slowly and there's a bit more room, he simply slumps, sinking down to sit on a piece of luggage, back to the wall and eyes closed. He should...he should get up. He should move. There was fighting - there are people who will need help - and he's a healer, so he should help them-

But he can't. It's been a very long time since he's felt exhaustion in his soul like this (not since the first time he'd pulled Orion back from the brink of death, and he doesn't want to think about that right now), and right now he just...can't.

Someone please help him up and get him back to his room. He's not going to get there otherwise.

2. Half awake at best

Ryo spends much of the next few days utterly exhausted. He does still try to take care of things - watering his patch in the greenhouse and Thanatos's poppy pot once he thinks to check it, looking in on medical even if he's still too exhausted to actually use his magic, checking in on people if they look injured - but it's all slow, sluggish, and it takes him too long to string words together when he talks.

For the most part, however, he spends the days wrapped in the robe he'd gotten from Kumoko (which, after seeing Jingyi's robes, he's fairly certain he's wearing incorrectly, but he's too far gone to care) over his pajamas. He can be found curled up on one of the library's beanbag chairs with a forgotten book on the floor next to him, listening to music in the music car without really noticing that the same song has been on repeat for an hour, or sitting at the table in the dining car trying not to fall asleep as he waits for a cup of tea to finish steeping.

Otoha is tall enough that he can spot some people, and while he spots Ryo it takes a few minutes for him to get over to the younger man. He takes those minutes to wrap up the cut on his arm - Ryo looks like he's in no condition to heal anything.

He crouches next to Ryo and carefully picks him up, cradling him in his arms. "Hey. I'm going to get you to your room. Where's your ticket?"

Luggage Carriage (And Beyond?)

Nell is beyond understanding much of anything right now. Discovering she'd been living some sort of dream life/hallucination had only left her wondering if the rest of it was just more illusion. The train, the magic, the aliens... Maybe she was lying on her floor back home desperately ill and this was all some crazy fever dream.

She'd helped people cross over the river-y thing until she was so exhausted that she'd barely been able to stand anymore. When she was told to unanchor she'd managed to touch the symbol, hoping that was what was needed, and then had collapsed to the ground only to find herself crammed into some strange compartment with more people than her tired brain could count. She didn't know where she was, she didn't know what was real, and she was too tired to fight her way through the masses to try and get out.

Instead she crawled on top of some... luggage?... tucking herself into a corner out of the way where she could fall asleep. Maybe someone would find her or maybe she'd stay here until she'd slept herself out and could try to figure out what was real and what wasn't.

"Miss?" Romeo was tired but not as tired as everyone else. His head still hurt from taking Joss' injury but he was well enough to try and help others and so he would!

So when he spotted a woman lying on some luggage, half asleep, he moves to her. "Miss! Here's not a comfy place to sleep! I can help take you to your room if you want!"

I. Time To Go

When the call came to leave, this was probably the first time he's had to emergency evacuate.

Perhaps there was someone nearby looking for a Voidtrecker with an SCA.

II. On the Train

This was such a tight fit.

Demyx could barely breathe with everyone around him and he found himself wishing he could disappear like he'd been doing in that world.

Suddenly, there was nothing there.

He could only hold it for a few moments though before he popped back into existance. He looked down at his hands in awe. "...Cool."

III. Downtime

Demyx would actually see if he could grab the cinema to watch another musical. If he couldn't manage that, he would go to the spa, ready to soak away any tension in his muscles.

Strangely enough, he was going to give the music room a pass and turn into his room early for bed.

As it happened, when Demyx arrived in the cinema car, he'd find a familiar redhead there scrolling through the various offerings with the air of someone who wanted to watch something but wasn't sure what. He looked up as Demyx approached. "Oh hey," he said. "Looking to watch another musical?"

I. Sudden Evacuation

It was a real tight fit.

Prompto let out an oof as he was surrounded. "Gah! Sorry! Sorry!"

He was kind of right in the middle, he was going to have to wait his turn for those around him to get through.

II. On Board

The first thing Prompto did when he got back was pop into the kitchen to look for something he could grab pretty easily.

When he was done with that, well, he needed to clear his head. He was going to run laps in the gym. That would help both with processing and any lingering anxiety.

He had some tough conversations to have, inevitably.

Noctis wasn't really avoiding Prompto. Wasn't planning on it, either! They were best friends. Inside an illusion, outside an illusion, that never changed. Noctis wanted to be his friend for the rest of his life. Wanted him by his side for the rest of his life. Why else ask him to be one of his Crownsguard? But ...

But.

Stupid illusion.

If it was supposed to be so fake, why did it make him say something so completely real? Noctis didn't think he had it in him to lie about it, either. That's what Ignis would've told him. His chest hurt.

The truth was selfish. So selfish. Noctis ... it didn't matter if he got the things he wanted, if he was happy. He had a duty.

But he couldn't lie to Prompto, so ... he just didn't run into him. He sat up in the games carriage and played video games until he fell asleep at the controller, stressed out from the mission and everything else.

Of course, it's Prompto who shook him awake. Noctis forgot what he was apprehensive about for a moment. "Nnngh, what, how did I crash here ...?"

I. Emergency Evacuation

Rui found herself packed in like a sardine all of a sudden and whoa was that ever unpleasant.

She was taking some deep breaths. "I...excuse me..." Rui said, hand on her chest a little bit as she tried to make her way out of the car, overwhelmed.

II.Exhaustion

She'd been an anchor, helping other people get to safety.

It was all she could do not to just collapse in the hall. She was tempted, but everyone was passing through, she would just be in the way.

She thought she needed something to eat, so she went to the kitchen looking for some sugar. She might even hit up the train if she has to for a sugar fix.

There was a lot to process. Once she had snacks, she found the bench in standard and just lay across the thing. Good enough.

III. Wildcard

Once Rui makes it to the kitchen, she'll find that she's not alone there. Of course not - considering there are plenty of people who are busy trying to grab a bite to eat after the end of a mission.

Not that Alice is there to eat. She's just busy making some tea, waiting for the water to boil so she can actually pour herself some. Her gaze drifts over towards the door at the sound of it opening, staring at the girl standing in the doorway.

".. Rui," she says, noting the other's presence.

Sure, there's a lot more than that to say, but it's not like they don't have seas of time to begin with.

There's only enough time for Essek to realize he's literally pressed in from every side at the moment. It's literal agony for him at the moment with his mind in its state and his body beat up from fighting.

He makes a strangled pained noise before gathering his wits enough to say the right string of arcane words and teleporting. Just as quickly as he vanished, he reappeared just inside the doorway of his cabin. His clothing is bloodies, his side still bleeding, and his eyes are distant, unfocused. There are no words as he covers his face and crumples against a bunk.


[2. Hands Getting Cold] Medical

He doesn't remember how he got admitted to medical, but here he was. His wounds are healed, the new skin pulling taught at his waist, but his mind is still fractured and scattered. He pretends he's well enough okay, but little things show he's not, like his slowness to respond, his far away looks.

Right now, he's slipped from his room and is pressed against the wall to be as out of the way as possible as he looks through a door at Caleb, just watching the man breathe for a moment. Needing to know that he-... that this Caleb is at least alive. Turning to leave, he bumps into someone.

"Ah... apologies," he slips on a polite half-smile that doesn't at all reach his eyes.

Please shove him in Caleb's medical room at some point.


[3. Losing Feeling is Getting Old] Rest of the Train

In the days following, when Essek isn't self isolating in the quiet car or his attempting to do so in his cabin or late at night in the greenhouse, he can be found floating through the train like a ghost. Quiet and aloof, he doesn't engage people unless they engage him first. In fact, at times when people grow near and he doesn't want to risk engagement, he takes a step and disapparates into violet and gray stardust before reforming in another part of the train out of the same.

But spells are limited, so eventually he can be caught while he gathers a book in the library or makes himself tea in the kitchen or in the greenhouse or travels between cars. He's either lost in thought, eyes far away and his task paused as his mind gets away from him, or he looks up to smile politely, aloof and give you a nod, as if that might be enough and you'll be on your way.

It's late, a few days have passed now, when he finds himself in the greenhouse. It's strangely quiet, empty, so many people still fighting off exhaustion, so many people still sleeping off injuries. For once, he's alone with the smell of growth and green and life. It's soothing at first, reminds him of being okay, surviving worse than he just did, of miracles and victories, of his friends-

Of everything he's lost.

His mind quickly spirals the longer he's alone. Because he's lost everything, being alone only hammers that in. Something he keeps doing, isolating, hurting himself like this. It's not intentional, he can't stand the idea of being around people while like this, but being alone only worsens it.

He's crouched in front of a planter, one hand gripping on to it's edge while his other clutched at his face. His breathing is ragged as he tries to calm himself down the the more his mind descends, the more he loses the rhythm and himself.

"Did you just get released, or are you here to see Caleb?" The direction of the conversation could change quite considerably depending on what his intentions were.

I. Back to the Train

Senku did not have love for the train, not really, but at that moment he was incredibly grateful to be returned.

For a second.

Until everyone else was around him and he was squished up against people. He froze slightly, rigid. He was already not quite forming complicated thoughts and having difficulty getting his body to do what he wants.

He moved, only slightly enough to put his back against a wall and hunch in on himself. Eventually there would be personal space again, right?

II. Out of the Frying Pan

Torture or not, he didn't care, he was just going to make his way to his room, slowly, painfully.

Each step looked difficult, as though he wasn't responding, but he was doing better than he had been the day before.

He'd take that enough as a win. When he got to his room, he was just going to collapse into sleep.

III. Into the Fire

After sleep, either on his own or through someone banging on their door to find him, Senku eventually was going to emerge.

Rest was helping, his steps were more confident or at least his body seemed to be working somewhat.

He went into the dining car. Not for food, but to make himself a cup of tea. With his tea, he just found a seat and sipped it, his chin on the palm of his hand as he was thinking, considering, evaluating.

He'd be sitting there until forced back to bed by the train.

Eight is tired too, and the dreams was making her feel like she was continuing to be active even when she sleeps. But the pangs of hunger is one of the few things that gets her to move, and it is there that she sees Senku, sitting and staring.

It was a new experience, but now felt like the good time to try coffee. She slid across from him, a hot cup in hand and splitting her attention between staring at the black liquid and staring at Senku.

Who would break first? Senku, Eight, or being forced back to bed?

Triage

When the adrenaline wore off Leia would undoubtedly be as exhausted as any other person who been acting as an Anchor. But for better or worse, her adrenaline lasted longer than some, and she intended to make good use of that. As soon as there was room to move, Leia set about helping the medics and healers triage the wounded. With a combination of the Force and experience with combat injuries, she helped sort out those who only needed rest, those could be treated and sent back to their rooms, and those who actually needed to spend a night or two a recovery room. It was a long process, but every pair of hands and set of senses helped.

Exhaustion

Of course, not even her adrenaline could last forever, and when she finally made her way back to her cabin, she did something she rarely did and simply fell asleep in her clothes with her hair still done up; she hadn't had the energy left for more than taking off her shoes and rolling over in her bunk. Her sleep was solid, and much longer than normal, but full of vivid dreams that she only half remembered when she eventually woke.

The next few days, it was almost like it had been back home, without her lingering injuries healed by Bending. She was exhausted; she seriously considered Bending up her cane again, but eventually decided against it. But she would be taking it very easy, spending time resting and meditating. She could often be found in the library or greenhouse when not in her room or at meals. Her sole concession to her mind's need to do something even when her body couldn't cooperate, was to take shifts watching over those still recovering in medical; the most strenuous thing she did there was to bring them meals and tea as needed, but she would be available to talk, or to tell off anyone who was trying to bother the patients rather than visit them.

Romeo stumbles up to her. He thinks he is fine but there is blood and that normally means you should see a doctor. "Hello miss." He smiled at her as he was directed towards her.

He doesn't look too bad, the main injury of concern seems to be his head, blood matts his hair on one side.

"Are you okay miss?"

Luggage

The only thing keeping Mordin from immediately moving to get out of the way is the knowledge that it's possible there will be people in the luggage car that require more immediate triage.

IN this moment he's only interested in the injured and those who might be able to give him information about the injured. And anyone who can help him transport said injured to more appropriate surroundings.

Medical

Mordin has an extensive list of things he wants to study. After visiting his first other world, it's only grown.

But it will have to wait. Right now the thing that will do the most good is dealing with the fallout of fighting their way free. Just as well that he doesn't have to sleep more than an hour a night.

Otoha stops and pauses at the strange person in medical, but then shrugs. He's seen weirder things at home, and it's not like the weirdness has stopped.

"Uh. Not particularly? But one of the previous doctors had me promise to check in after each mission. I've got a bullet in my chest and I can't feel pain."

Around the train

It's quickly obvious that the most useful thing she can do in the luggage car is get elsewhere to let the more medically qualified people do their jobs. Her first aid knowledge is useful for keeping people alive long enough to get to proper medical facilities, but right now they need a clear way. She'll try to encourage other uninjured people to do the same.

After the initial crush is resolved, she'll try to find places to be useful. Bringing food, fetching, carrying. THough not cooking, no one deserves to have to eat what would happen if she tried that.

Checking Up

There's more than just physical needs though. Every mission seems to extend the list of people she wants to check up on afterwards, and this one had its own complications on that front.

How are you doing seems like the wrong opener after a mission like that. INstead she's found herself with a new standby. "That was a lot."

She misses the demons.

Taiki went straight to bed, slept for a very long time. He is used to this, most missions end like this. Though the utter exhaustion is more than the usual toll of bloodsickness.

When he sees her in the corridor, as he leaves the room briefly he blinks at her. Nodding at her statement.

"It was." He hadn't known her before, until he had been placed as her nephew. "Have you rested?"

Cabin
Link was emotionally and physically exhausted. As soon as he was able, he crawled into his bunk and passed out. He needed time to recoup.

When he finally woke up, he stayed in his bunk, using Bending to create a little bit of wood and a jackknife so he could whittle. He was trying to fashion a little whistle, something to keep his mind busy, because he was still feeling raw from having to say Goodbye to Shadow so quickly, and the whole mess with Clef....

Garden Car

Link was still whittling, sitting quietly by himself. He was subdued and unusually quiet, even for himself.

Devero || Purple Team || Between M12 and M15

I. Can of sardines (OTA for debrief/checking in but Koumyou is the one who'll take him out
Oh, Devero is tired. Devero has never been this tired in his life-- not after his hardest deployment with the Guard, not after any of the prior missions, not even after that exhausting day where the train had been overrun by kids needing help and supervision and then he'd almost died.

He's pushed himself farther than he's ever needed to before on this mission. He's had no choice. Maintaining constant, active focus to keep himself free from the illusion-- pulling Koumyou out of his quiet, appealing life as a mundane civilian more than once-- figuring out how to monitor and protect his partner discreetly, lest he be taken up as a Voidtrecker while doing so-- dealing with Koumyou's jackass of a son-- this past frantic, endless, adrenaline-fueled day of fighting and evacuations-- anchoring until the last moment to make sure everyone got evacuated--

Devero's always been a man of incredible stamina and resilience, but in the end, he's only a human. He has no superhuman abilities, no alien strength, no special mystical powers beyond what he's trained and fought for here over the past few months. Even the iron machine of his will needs something to fuel him; as he reappears in the luggage car with everyone and realizes that they are safe, the last scrap of his stubborn determination evaporates.

He's done.

Somehow, he manages to get an arm up and around a luggage rack. He uses that to keep himself upright, clinging grimly to consciousness. He's just... going to wait here until the car empties out some....

II. Aftermath:
Normally, Devero is not one of those sleep-everywhere folks following missions, but after this one? Oh yeah he is. Part of it is the overwhelming fatigue he's feeling, an exhaustion in every part of his mind and body that he can't seem to shake-- and part of it is the dreams. Never the most vivid dreamer, he finds his sleep interrupted constantly by them in the days following the evacuation. Even when they're pleasant, the dreams wake him up, send him to wander and think until he's tired enough to sleep again. Looks like someone has become a member of the insomnia club, at least for now.

Find him zonked out at a table in the dining car, mechanically eating huge amounts of whatever is easily available from the kitchen. Find him sprawled in the standard car, too weary to make it somewhere more comfortable. Find him laid out on of the benches in the garden car, head pillowed on his arm and surrounded by the sound of the fountain. Find him basking under the artificial sun in the greenhouse car, absently rubbing a leaf or blade of grass between his fingers.

Find him often in the spa car: stretched out on a lounger with his hands behind his head, relaxing in the heated pool, slumped in the sauna. (Actually, someone please get him out of the sauna? He's probably been in there too long.) As the days go on and he starts recovering some of his strength, find him sitting on a massage table and stretching, or quietly doing yoga alongside the pool.

Find him any time of the day, save their mandatory sleep time. Find him dull-eyed and questionably conscious or involuntarily asleep. Find him snoring; find him startling awake with a shout after a dream. Find him with his drone hovering over his head no matter where he is, keeping watch over him.

Chances are, you'll find him somewhere between the end of the mission and the platform. The question is, what are you going to do when you do?

"Devero." Normally Otoha would just haul someone out of the sauna, but he's not willing to upset someone he calls a friend with sudden touch. "Come on, time to get up."

He was just here in a towel to get some heat and maybe stretch out some of his scars, he didn't expect to play first aid right now. ... But Devero's way more important than scar treatment.
